On Friday, my wife and I had to put our cat Nala down. She was 19 years old. I want to thank everyone at the Newberry location for always taking such good care of her. Seriously, Drs. Grand, Doll, and Spinosa are all amazing!! They take so much time to explain things to you. My year old (6 lb morkie) needed an emergency surgery for a bladder stone. I wish that words could convey just how pleased we are with ALL the staff at Newberry Animal Hospital. We took our older rescue to them with a really odd problem. She was loosing weight despite eating everything she could find. She went from 50lb to 35lb ina just over a month. HUGE concerns!!! Dr. Long and the other staff ran all the tests needed as well as doing some in depth research to find our girl's issue. AMAZING results. We sadly met them when we needed to say goodbye to one of our Affenpinschers. Even in a tough time they made us feel welcome and showed us more compassion and care than most human hospitals would. I absolutely love my vet Dr. Doll, and all of the awesome techs that work here. I'm currently deployed but I know my babies are well taken care of by my husband and have great confidence that my vet will keep my kiddos healthy till I get home. The staff went out of their way to get me in at the latest time possible. (I called the morning of.) they let me spend as much time with her and treated her so well. I can't say enough about the staff at Newberry Animal Hospital. My first encounter with them, sadly, had to be to help our 13 year old Affenpinscher over the rainbow bridge, due to his failing health from recently diagnosed liver cancer. I used to show dogs, as a hobby, and professionally. Unfortunately, as a breeder, I was not a stranger to having to say goodbye to beloved pets. I can tell you, in no uncertain terms, I have never been met with a more thoughtful, and empathetic staff. Never before, have I been allowed to hold my dog during that difficult time (always made to leave them on the metal exam table). To be able to cradle the little dog in my arms that had been born into my hands 13 years ago, and show him that final act of compassion and love, means more to me than I could ever say. This animal hospital really takes care of your pets. I had my dog come in for surgery and the veterinarian did a superb job. I was updated and contacted about my dog's surgery and post-operation status immediately so I was able to know if the surgery went well (which it did) or if there was a complication. It is hard to find the words to convey what a wonderful place the Newberry Animal Hospital is and how appreciative I am of the care they provide. Vets, techs and office staff are down-to-earth, warm, friendly and empathic. All have good senses of humor and lots of patience, as well :) All care about the pets and their owners and all go out of their way(s) to make visits, procedures, surgeries as positive as possible, accommodating to the individual needs/wishes of pets and owners as much as possible. The quality of care is also excellent with skilled, experienced and knowledgable vets and techs who know all the options, are willing to consult with others if this will benefit the pet, and share decision making/care with the owners. Our older beagle, Boogie, usually gentle and laid back, gets very anxious (aka: resistant) at the vet. Dr. Long has gone out of his way to gradually help Boogie become much more comfortable as well as working hard to help us identify Boogie's underlying condition(s). Rachel, Jara, Katie, Kim and the other wonderful techs and office staff have been an essential part of that process, showing complete empathy and superhuman patience when Boogie thrashes around during blood draws and injections. Dr. Baltzley took amazing care of Boogie before, during and after surgery. (Two days later you would never know Boogie had ever had surgery). Awesome place. I take both our dogs there for check ups, visits, and even boarding when I go out of town. My dogs actually get excited when we go there instead of scared an anxious. The staff is amazing, always kind words and smiling faces. Amanda at the front desk makes you feel like you are at home with friends and not a doctors office. We travel down to Fl, frequently, and bring our cats. We have always found the staff and dr's to be very efficient and knowledgeable. We have never had to wait for a long time in the waiting room. Everyone seems to be very friendly and their prices are certainly cheaper then what we pay up North! I wish we had as good a veterinary service up North as Newberry Animal Hospital is. Read Less
