I have been going to this vet for 10 plus years. I've taken my dogs there for routine shots as well as if they've been sick. My cat has been sick with renal failure for the last year and they have taken great care of her. The staff is friendly and great to work with. Read Less

Clay County Animal Hospital was a wonderful vet to my elder corgi, Harley. They were always available for a quick appointment if there was an area of concern. She was treated with utmost care and passion, and treated just like a family pet. The staff took care to learn her name, and took a vested interest in her healthcare. I was always advised the full options with realistic explanation of benefits versus cost, life quality, and all the important details. I had full trust in Dr. Sue's advice regarding medication options for things such as ear infections, arthritis, and neurological problems. It was clear that the animal's wellbeing was of utmost important. Harley, unfortunately, recently passed due to a brain tumor causing grand mal seizures. A few days after her death, I received a touching hand-written note in the mail from Dr. Sue expressing sympathies. It meant a lot, and I'm happy knowing that Harley had such great care in her lifetime.Read Less

I absolutely love this place! ALL of our pets go here! They dont make you feel stupid for not knowing something, take the time to explain what they want to do, why and what you need to do. They give you all your options with their recommendation. My family dog was in the was severe pain I never seen before in animal. At 6am I could not find a vet on short notice this was the only place that would take my family pet that was in such distress The staff quickly check my dog and treated her with something to give her some relief. I am beyond pissed. I called them on monday to make an appointment, took time off work, and had to drag my 4 year old with me to take my 70lb dog to the vet as a new patient. They never document the call I made or my appointment. Worst of all they were not even apologetic about it. You aren't the only animal hospital in the area and I will be spreading the word. You wasted my time, and inconvenienced me quite a bit. All they needed to do was apologize and rectify the situation but the assistant made it seem like I never called bc I couldn't remember the name of the person who answered the phone 3 days ago. I checked my call log and it was definitely them I made the appointment with and I was on the phone with them for 10 mins, still it was me that had messed up from their perspective. Yesterday we had to say goodbye to our sweet Golden. This was the second pet that Clay County Animal Hospital helped us say goodbye too. The staff were so sweet with our 5 year old son. They made him a frame with Dublin's paw print, put his name on it and gave it to him. They let us have as much time as we needed to say goodbye. This place doesn't deserve any stars. I am so disgusted about how we were treated. The front desk is so disrespectful. It will take hours for them to take your call and when you talk to them they are not pleasant and seem to lack the common decency of being respectful. They should be ashamed at the way they present themselves towards patients. They will not authorize prescriptions unless you use their pharmacy. No one wants to be at their job and they seem to take it out on the customers. The best decision I ever made was leaving this facility and taking my business elsewhere.Read Less

Took our dog there for the first visit--which was actually a sick visit. They saw him immediately walk-in off the street. They got all of his previous vet records from within a few minutes. My husband said the receptionist pretty much diagnosed him within a couple of minute of being there--all the staff very knowledgable & friendly. Dr Sue was amazing.  Reasonably priced. Even the rescue dog (Daisy) that stays in the office was awesome--very protective of our dog, very loving to him, playful with our kids :-). Every time out dog yelped during his  exam & X-rays, Daisy would take off running to him to make sure he was ok.  We haven't had a dog in 7 years so we were really unsure who to use. So thankful Dr Sue was recommended to us. The whole experience was great. This will continue to be our vet for years to come. Read Less

I have been coming to Clay Animal for more than 10+ years. The staff and the vets have always made sure my dogs are at their best.. I would never go anywhere else. Vet Susan is so awesome she knows all her patients and what their needs are, my babies cant wait to see her. I went here because they seemed to have the most resasonable rate for an office visit. When I went in I was greeted, everyone at the front was so friendly and nice! They even had a few house pets walking around. I was excited because I thought this might become our new vet. When I went in the back with my cat the vet was very quick, and hardly explained anything. She tried to charge me $45 for an antibiotic I could get for free at publix, and only told me about the free one AFTER I told her I couldn't afford to pay for it that day. Without asking, she told me she was going to give my cat a rabies shot since hers was past due. Which would be another $15. I was also charged for "services" during the exam, that I thought was part of the initial exam and had NOTHING to do with what was wrong with my animal. All in all, I will not be going back, and I would not suggest this place to anyone, unless you like being tricked into hidden costs when you go to pay. Read Less

I LOVE THIS VET!!! I CAN SAY NOTHING BUT GOOD THING ABOUT THIS VET. I HAVE 3 DOGS AND TREAT THEM AS THOUGH THEY WERE MY KIDS. WHAT I LIKE MOST IS HOW MUCH THEY ALL LOVE THE ANIMALS AT THIS CLINIC. THEY HAVE HELPED ME FIND HOMES FOR LOST ANIMALS I HAVE FOUND AND GONE OUT OF THERE WAY TO HELP ME. THEY HAVE MORE THEN ONE VET THAT WORKS THERE AND THEY WILL HAVE SPECIALIST THAT FILL IN. THE LUCKEST I EVER GOT WAS WHEN BY MIXED PIT, BULLDOG AND TERRIOR MIX GOT HIS EYE HURT BAD. THAT SAT THEY FIT ME IN AND THE VET FILING IN WAS AN EYE SPECIALIST. WHEN I HAVE HAD TO TAKE MY CHIUAHA TO THE EMERCANY HOSPITAL AT NIGHT. THE VERY NEXT DAY I HAVE ALWAYS GOT A CALL BACK FORM CLAY TO CHECK ON MY BABIES. THEY EVEN ARE VERY UNDERSTANDING WHEN MY 4 LBS CHIAUHA NAMED NIJA TRIES TO BITE THEM AT EVERY VISIT. HE THINKS HE IS A TRAINED ATTACKED DOG. THEY HAVE CONFORTED ME WHEN I WAS SCARED AND CRYING FOR MY DOGS HEALTH AND NEVER PUSHED ME INTO ANYTHING. I KNOW THEY DONT ALWAYS HAVE THE ANSWER TO WHAT IS WRONG RIGHT AWAY, BUT NIETHER DOES MY OWN DOCTOR. THE THING IS THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN HESITATE TO TELL ME IT MAY BE BETTER IF WE HAVE A SPECIALIST TAKE A LOOK. I would not recommend any other place to go if you needed veterinary care for you cat or dog. I love the doctors that work here. They are always very caring and attentive to my dog's needs. I have three dogs and have been bringing them here for almost four years. I have never had a problem. I've taken them in for just annual shots as well as dentals and a spay and I have never had any issues. One of the doctors actually discovered that my dog is anesthesia sensitive and suggested not to perform any other surgeries. I would not take my dogs any where else :) Read Less

I started bringing my 2 Shelties to this place in March of 2009 and my dog started losing his hair and getting sores on his body. So I took him in and I was told to have him shaved and they gave me medication to put him on. Well his hair wasn't growing back and then he devoped a cough. I took him back several times which cost me a lot of money and the Vet just kept putting him on more medication. I told her the last time his cough was getting worse and never let up and she pretty much called me a liar and told me she put him on a cough suppresant and it should have. Then she told me he had an irregular heart beat and put him on heart medication and told me I needed to come back and let her do all kinds of test that would run me around $600! I ended up finding another Vet and they did an Xray right there and then and saw that he had a fungal infection in his lungs! There is only one type of medicine that will cure that and it is an aggressive dosage over several months. The Vet at Clay Co should have seen a red flag when I told her about my dogs cough and that all the medications weren't working and it was going on for months and months! It seemed they would do anything just to keep charging me money! My dog could have ended up dying because this Vet did not know what she was doing! I will Never go back or Recommend this place to anyone! Read Less
