Lack of Compassion! My dog was always alert, active, eating, and enjoyed her daily walks outdoors. The reason I took my pet to Wells Road Veterinary Clinic was because my dog's cough increased slightly. She had a heart murmur that was controlled with medication and a healthy diet. I had to see the Veterinarian Dr. Price, because my regular Vet Dr. Harris was not there. This was the very first time Dr. Price ever saw my dog. She immediately said that my dog could just drop dead just like that and needed various tests. I was so fearful of that diagnosis and wanted the very best care for my dog who was part of my family for a number of years that I quickly agreed to pursue Dr. Price's recommendations. Assuming Dr. Price had my dog's best interests at heart, I followed her referral to Southeast Veterinary Oncology. My dog was seen at Southeast Veterinary Oncology by Dr. Abigail Bertalan and was given 4 major tests during her first visit and additional medicine was prescribed. The following several weeks, my pet was traumatized, shaking and fearful when we returned to this clinic. Before my pet died, she would look at me with her sad face as if she was saying, why are you doing this to me. From the first day I took my pet to the last time, which was less than 4 weeks, my pet had a total of 8 costly tests within 22 days. Also, Southeast Veterinary Oncology did not provide me a list of the potential side effects for each medication they additionally prescribed, both of which eventually and negatively affected my pet's personality, caused dizziness, weakness, unusual clay-colored stool, loss of appetite for 9 days, diarrhea, extreme thirst, and impacted her overall health. She then died within a month. I put faith in Dr. Bertalan. Even though several tests came out normal, some tests were needlessly repeated which stressed her out and she became very depressed. Soon I lost faith in Dr. Abigail Bertalan of Southeast Veterinary Oncology for giving my dog, test after test, week after week with no major health changes. Was this simply the Practice of Medicine or the Practice of Poor Professional Judgment $ $. Moreover, Dr. Price of Wells Road Veterinary Clinic never followed up or called me to ask how my pet was doing after her referral. I wish I had never taken Dr. Price's recommendation. There apparently was no communication between the Clinics regarding my pet's health and Dr. Price never bothered to call me either. I called Wells Road Veterinary Clinic to ask if they had requested or received any records from this clinic. The office said no. Then I personally requested Southeast Clinic to forward them. By then, it was too late. Dr. Price's website at Wells Road Veterinary Clinic reads and I quote: "we will strive each day to treat every patient as we would treat our own pet-as an important family member". Not at all true in our case. What was the purpose of having my pet undergo the enormity of costly tests in such a short period of time (22 days) and to put my pet and my entire family in such stress, anxiety and hurt - to only die after going to the recommended specialist clinic. Where was the compassion for my important family member? Wells Road Veterinary Clinic really did not practice what they preached in my case. No pet should ever have to endure such lack of concern from so-called "professional care".Furthermore, no one at Wells Road Veterinary Clinic ever told me that Dr. Harris, who was our managing veterinarian for years, sold her practice at Wells Road and opened Sixth Street Veterinary Hospital in MacClenny, Florida. Otherwise, I would have entrusted the care of my dear pet in the compassionate and conservative hands of Dr. Harris. Read Less
