BEWARE! This vet is not an avian specialist by any means and is quite uneducated on the subject. Do not take your pets here, especially birds! I called the 24/7 Animal Hospital of Orlando in the middle of the night to ask if they can deal with exotic bird emergencies and they agreed without hesitation, stating that it will cost a 125 dollars. I went to the clinic with my recently adopted african grey for a broken blood feather. Dr. Hassan came in and refused to handle the bird without first putting her under anesthetic gas. He pulled out the remaining piece of the blood feather and her wing started bleeding for a while. He then decided to stitch the wound with unsterile equipment and no gloves. He suggested to trim her beak and nails, which I refused at first. He persisted on persuading us to allow him to trim her beak and nails, saying that if they are not trimmed she can break them easily and not be able to eat and eventually die. I personally thought her beak was an ideal length in comparison to other african greys, but the vet insisted it was overgrown. Being a new bird owner, I thought that a vet would have more knowledge, so I tentatively agreed for the trim. He carelessly used a "trimmer" (not sure if it is even a bird trimmer) to shorten her beak extensively to the point where it started bleeding (same with the nails). He did not bother to shape it into a pointy end, and now she is left with a horizontal end beak. He also complained about her clipped wings, saying that you should never clip primary flight feathers and only clip secondary flight feathers. He asked to clip her remaining feathers and I agreed, thinking it is the correct way to clip feathers. I ended up paying 350 dollars and went home to read about proper trims and wing clips. To my surprise, I found out that you should only clip primary flight feathers and never touch secondary flight feathers! I also found out her beak was never overgrown and that his trim was not the proper way to trim beaks at all! Now my poor bird is in pain and has trouble eating and picking up everything. I have to give her soft, mushy foods because that is all she manages to eat. She also lacks both primary and secondary feathers which is extremely dangerous. I will NEVER STEP FOOT IN THIS CLINIC EVER AGAIN!If I can give this place zero stars I would. They only care about money and not about harming a sweet, innocent soul. Read Less

We took our very sick Yorkie to this hospital recently. The vet diagnosed her with heart failure despite the fact that the report from their radiologist said that no heart failure was indicated. They sent me home with three medications. She got sicker and sicker - to the point where she couldn't stand up and she wouldn't eat. I took her to another pet hospital, expecting that she was going to die, however, they diagnosed her with a bleeding ulcer. The new vet also indicated that the medicine she was taking was harming her kidneys. I'm happy to say that after a week in the hospital and different medication, she's home acting like a puppy again. I should also note that the week in the other hospital cost me as much as this emergency vet charged for an overnight visit. I will make it a point to stay away from here. Read Less

I am so grateful to Dr. Hassan and his staff. My Aussie needed urgent, emergency attention late one night, and my mother and friend took him in to the Emergency Pet Hospital. They took my guy back right away, and my mother was with him during the entire process. Dr. Hassan even found and treated an infection in his paw that I had been told by our previous vet in Indiana was due to an autoimmune disorder called Pemphigus. Dr. Hassan said it looked like an allergic reaction that had become infected, probably to chicken. My guy was given antibiotics, pain relievers and an anti-inflammatory medication. After the first day, he was bouncing around like nothing had even happened. It's been 2 months now, and we've since switched his food to a turkey-based food, removed all chicken and chicken byproducts from his diet, and I'm just in absolute awe of the change it's made in him. His paws have always been rough, which we were told was a result of the Pemphigus. They're soft and supple now. He was on steroids a few times for this supposed autoimmune disorder, which caused him to gain weight. Since the discovery of the allergy, he's leaner and he's full of energy. It's just amazing. I haven't seen him play like he does now since he was a puppy!I have a spinal cord injury and a nervous system disorder, and he is my therapy dog. He's been everywhere with me. He helps me stand, he is in tune with my spasms, he'll prevent me from falling, he's obedient, he's brilliant, he's a warrior, he's chill, he's loving, and just such a good dog. I do feel guilty now that I know that I've been feeding him something he was allergic to, and I don't know what I would have done if they hadn't taken such wonderful care of him. I'm just so grateful to Dr. Hassan for the care he gave my doggo, and I'm so thankful that he found out that what we thought was probably a permanent autoimmune disorder that we couldn't fix, was an allergy that we could treat and prevent. It was unfortunate that he had to go in, but it's just amazing to see him now. Thank you to Dr. Hassan, the vet techs, and staff at the Emergency Pet Hospital. You gave my boy his fire back. I spoke to a lovely lady on the phone about midnight and she gave me sound advice on what to do and what to look for if I decided to hold off on bringing my cat in. My cat, Ellie, was limping and acting quiet and a little strange. The reception is advised that I make sure her gums were pink and that she was eating and if she wasn't by morning, then I should bring her in. Around 5 in the morning, I felt the need to bring her in. First off, the staff was great and I loved the German Shepherd and the cat that were hanging out there as well. I saw dr. Hassan and he was great with Ellie and attentive and quick but not sloppy. He reassured me that everything was going to be fine and then I can come back to take off the bandaging or I can do it myself. I trust them to do that and I will also be back to remove the stitches. It was a stressful couple of hours for me and Ellie but they made it all better. Thank you guys! Read Less

Another case of abuse for them put them on the news a few years back. The assistant who was exposed on the news for abuse was also responsible for my dog's abuse. To top it off, they charge outrageously high rates, completely outrageous. And apparently they hold your pet hostage if you can't pay it according to some. Go anywhere but Emergency Vet. I was of course upset about my dog and I was there seeking treatment but I was concerned about the cost. All this vet cares about is money. We had to make the difficult decision to have our dog put to sleep. She was too old to re-home, and she was showing aggression towards people she shouldn't. We have small kids and couldn't take a chance, she was a BIG dog. Sadly, we came to the conclusion that at her advanced age (10 to 12 years old is very elderly for a rottie) it would be too cruel to place her in another home, and her size made her too dangerous to be unpredictable around kids. So, rather than make her stay in her bed (crate) or put her in a new home where we would be unsure of her treatement, or take a chance that she would go after someone again, we decided to let her go to sleep. She has never been vicious a day in her life and this was a difficult thing for us to do. She had been a good family dog and great companion. If it weren't for her sheer size and strength, we could have dealt with the weird random aggression. So with sadness, off to the vet clinic we went. She thought she was just going for a ride. The guilt and sadness was overwhelming. I went in and filled out paperwork before my boyfriend brought her in. We didn't want her to sit in the waiting room with weird smells and be scared. I was told that if I made an "appointment" that the charge would be $95. But if I wanted it done this day, it would be $260. I explained that we decided to do it right away rather than force her to stay in a crate and wait for an appointment because that would be cruel. It was within their normal operation hours, not yet emergency hours. They had open appointment slots, and I tried to make an appointment for later in the evening before they switched to emergency hours. They said no. If I want to pay the $95 price, I'd have to wait the 24 hours. Period. So, feeling like this was hard and bad enough, I went ahead and paid the $260. In that $260, there was a fee for an exam that was never done, a biohazard fee (we took our dog home and buried her, ourselves) an emergency fee (it was a simple euthanasia that took less than a few minutes) and I feel as if in our sad time, rather than consider what was best for our dog, this vet was only concerned about how much money he would make giving her a shot. Literally a shot. We were distressed and I feel taken advantage of by a greedy man in our sad time. These people do NOT care about animals. Just money. I had explained the situation in detail to them, before even bringing her in. Explained that waiting meant crating her until it was time. I wanted her last day to be happy and fun, and wanted her to fall asleep peacefully, so I paid the extra. Anyone who cares about animals would understand why I didn't wait.... And considering it wasn't yet "emergency hours" and that the office was not busy at all, it seems to me that a professional that actually cared about animals would come to the same conclusion. They took advantage of the fact that we wanted the best possible option for her and used our distressing situation to make money. There was no exam, no procedure, no time den spent except to administer a shot and leave us to carry her out. Greedy greedy uncaring people. If you have any other option, I would not suggest this vet at all. Read Less

My 12 year old kitty was displaying signs of neurological distress on a Sunday afternoon. In my haste I grabbed the wrong carrier and asked google to direct me to the nearest er instead of the er on Principal Row. Albeit, my kitty did receive proper care and I really did like the staff I felt something just wasn't right when Dr. Hassan took him in the back to be cathetorized for fluid therapy. I can only assume my kitty was less than cooperative during this process because I did hear him crying out. I was talking to him from the room we had been placed in to let him know I was there and to help calm him down, but now I know why he was crying out. Dr. Hassan very obviously bruised/nicked his vein while inserting the needle and used this type of cheap tape that we at Sandlake Animal would never use. The adhesive adhears and melts to the skin so no matter how cafeful you are during the removal process the skin rips off with the tape! Also the tape and vet wrap were so tight his paw had swollen five times its size! My kitty had an allergic reaction to the adhesive of the tape and his skin was beet red. He was badly bruised from the insertion of the needle so add in the colors of blue and purple which means the needle itself had done damage to his vein!!!. Its been six days now and there's still ashesive on his damaged, scabbed and bruised skin regardless of all my aftercare!. I spent most of the night with him at the er and returned in the morning to take my kitty to his regular Vet. They actually expected I keep him there! The bill was over $900 after they added on an additional charge for the day at 9 o:clock in the morning. My Veterinary was clearly not happy with my choice of er and later learned from another Veterinary there that Dr. Hassan has a terrible reputation in Orlando with the Animal Medical professionals. Not to mention in the back of his hospital outside in a very large cage he keeps two Sureval cats, two Bengal cats (the female out for breeding) and an Abysinnian (why I haven't a clue) all breeding for profit!. These poor cats living outside without any creature comforts in an enclosure without proper cat environment and nothing to stimulate them to pass their time. They're simply just there!!! Their senses so dulled the only one that noticed I was there was the Abyssinian. A Veterinary breeder for profit with a bad medical rap in the community. Disheartening... truly disheartening. :( Read Less

This place is horrible. There was no communication whatsoever. There is animals running around in the office including humongous Great Danes. The Doctor was very rude.  Make a long story short my girlfriend's cat got sick and this office treated him for a blockage a week after taking him home he got sick again they requested more money to see him and more money to treat him. The follow up visit ended up being $370. All he did was shoot him up with vitamins this cat needed serious attentionShe cried for them to help.  ... again she was denied because she did not want to spend any more money. She finally just requested the antibiotics because she couldn't afford another $370 visit that wouldn't do anything to the cat. They were happy to sell her antibiotics they later she treated the cat and no improvement she calls up again practically begging for help and the front desk does it again you need a $35 check fee its been over two days. By this time my girlfriend has already put over $2,000 into this office. She finally take the cat to a different doctor and the cat had a 5% chance of survival rate with a horrible bladder infection. Because of the actions of this office my family nearly lost our cat. The doctor had the audacity to call us and put blame on us questioning why didn't we just bring the cat in and not listen to the front office. , this office is absolutely ridiculous! Read Less

Please read this before taking your pet here. I cannot express enough just how awful this vet clinic is. They really have no care for the pets and just care about money. Very unprofessional and no bedside manner's whatsoever from the doctor. He was just rude and mean. My cat had a blockage. He just looked horrible and I rushed him to a 24 hour vet clinic this one! The doctor just acted very angry with me. Saying things like I don't think I could save him but We can try. You should've brought him in a lot earlier. He hasn't use the bathroom three weeks. ((Blaming me))Anyways he rushed him into the back. The doctor comes back with a huge syringe full of blood practically shoving it in my face. I could hear my cat crying like he was in agonizing pain (figuratively speaking. They were handling him very roughly. You could just hear it in the cats voice. I called my bf and asked him to look up a different vet at that point. I was so worried that he was going to die that night that I just kept him at that. The doctor said really mean things that made me cry. I walk into the back to see my cat. There's a large bowl sitting on the counter with some type of meat in it. Next to the pets cages. Like there thawing out dinner.I was crying so bad that the nurse try's to calm me down. This place traumatized me and traumatize my cat!!!She actually told me I'm sorry he comes off very strong sometimes. He doesn't mean too. I promise you your cats going to be just fine. At this point I wanted nothing to do with this doctor and I just talked through the nurses. For days I called to check up on him and the doctor was never in the office. I get a call saying my cat pulled his catheter out last night. Didn't notice it till the morning. Two days turn into three days three days turn into four days. I finally had enough and went into the office myself to see my cat. They had him an oxygen tank. They said he was he having trouble breathing and they don't know why. He was put in a oxygen tank for two days and no one freaking called me to let me know. I had to find out by marching into the office And practically demanding to see my cat. The nurses had a very whatever attitude. I asked about his care and no one could tell me what's wrong with him. Communication just wasn't there and Doctor was never in. Anyways to make a long story short he pull through and was doing better by the fourth day. They let me take him home after $1700 later. So my cat starts getting sick again. I told them I spent all my money the first go around. I can't afford anything else. I gave them $2000!In the end. The nurse just said there's nothing that we can do. Are you freaking kidding me I just gave you $2000 you sent me home and my cat got sick again and you want more money! Just the deposit was $800 to keep him overnight. I had the doctor recheck him. The cat looks horrible. He checked him for diabetes and gives him a whole bunch of vitamin injections. $350 on this visit!!!! Money break down roughly:Deposit: $800 upfrontProcedure: total out $1700Recheck fees $35 each time went about 3 timesExtra medication: $50Finally last visit before I said no more $370.00 Spending over $2k at this vet in the endOh and it gets better! So at this point my cat is looking just like he did before practically dead. I'm completely out of money they took all of it. I am calling the clinic begging for help! Just got the same answer nothing we cant do anything you need money. (Recheck fee) blah blah blah...At this point I demanded for them to give me the medication and I will try to treat this. My Bf picks up Anabiotic's. A day passes he still really bad. I didn't want to take him back there but I didn't know what to do. My cat is still dying sick! So I finally said screw this I'm taking him to a different vet. I should've did it sooner! Simba had a very severe infection in his bladder. My cat nearly died with a 5% survival rate by the time I got him to a new vet. This the first review I ever put my heart into. After demanding my money back he had the audacity to call me and act like it was my fault. Stating why did you listen to the front desk and not just bring him in. I did bring him in they charged me $300 for shots that had nothing to do with his condition. When I told this to the front desk that it didn't help and I have no more money because I spent it on them she said there's nothing more we can do you need your $35 fee check fee.  The doctor has the nerve to tell me it's my fault because I didn't bring him in. Take responsibility of your staff and start taking blame for things that your office does.Simba got so sick he ended up having a brain aneurysm. Now my cat is like taking care of an infant child. This place is to blame!! Please whatever you do don't take your pet here. He is a sociopath and a manipulator! ((( my firm opinion ))) Read Less

I would never recommend this place to anybody. I witnessed a family member of mine take her very sick pet to this place very early in the morning because he was very close to dying, and she wanted to try and save him. Bottom line is they flat out said it did not look good for him and he may not live much longer. But they offered to do all this diagnostic testing and X-rays  and it was going to cost $1000 and they wanted a deposit of at least $700. I offered to give them $250 of my own money and they wouldn't take that. They refused to work with my family member during this difficult time. Not many people have that kind of extra money just laying around. We took the pet home and he ended up passing away 15-20 minutes later. Another thing that gets me is that they knew it didn't look good for the pet, but they offered expensive "care" and wanted the money right then and there or they wouldn't do anything. Had we gave them that money, the pet would've died right there and they would've kept that money. This place cares more about the money and less the care of the pets and their owners. How about show some compassion next time for an upset pet owner. Read Less

This facility is the worst experience I have ever encountered. Never bring your pet here. I had recently had my female Yorkie cremated there a few weeks prior to my other Yorkie who was showing signs of distress. I brought my male Yorkie  to this facility because his primary vet was closed and do not offer emergency hours. His symptoms were uncontrollably shaking and a hacking dry cough. I arrived and the first thing was to settle up payment information. I signed a waiver for X-rays and blood work at a cost of $576. The doctor told me he his blood work was normal and X-rays showed no signs of issues. They suggested a shot of penicillin and  Famotidine. Obviously I agreed. They suggested they run more tests clearly just to keep the bill rising. I declined since the vet said there were no problems with blood work and X-rays. By the time I was checking out the bill had jumped from $576 to $776. Obviously I was confused and asked the manager what were the additional costs for. She explained it was the shots. I asked why she did not disclose this information prior to administering the shots. She said I should have asked. This did not sit well with me as I feel that it is their responsibility to update me on the new charges. I refused to pay more than the $576 that I was quoted. She became irate and informed me that the outstanding payment due with incrue interest at 1.5%. I paid the $576 and left. The following morning my dog was taken to his primary vet where they tried to obtain the X-rays and blood work so that I would not have to pay for something that has already been paid for. They refused to provide this vital information.  I returned to the facility and asked for his X-rays. They said it would cost $30 more dollars to take it out of the building! What a joke! I already paid for this! I refused to pay the $30 and said that I would have to contact the police if they did not give me the X-rays. They finally agreed. I brought the X-rays to my primary vet where he was immediately diagnosed within minutes with pneumonia. The doctor showed me the X-rays and it very clear that his lungs were filled with fluids and very apparent that pneumonia was evident.  His vet immediately administered the necessary medications and kept him for the day to monitor his vitals. I picked him up and they sent him home with antibiotics. We were scheduled to leave town for the weekend and I decided to take him as he would be under my care the entire time. We left town and his condition the following morning showed no improvement. I brought him to another vet in south Florida to have them put him on fluids as I was concerned that he was dehydrated. He was with this vet for 12 hours where they administered additional meds and put him in a nebulizer to receive oxygen. The doctor called me at 530pm and said he could not understand how the first emergency vet could not diagnose him with pneumonia-again it was clearly evident in the X-rays. They decided it would be best to keep him overnight to continue to nebulize. At some point they decide that his lungs were beginning to collapse and they put a tube down his nose to give him direct oxygen into his lungs. The following morning I picked him up and he was showing signs of improvement. They donated additional medicine to send him home with and did not charge me for a number of services that they provided, additional X-rays, and blood work and the oxygen they administered throughout the evening. I was never looking for a handout but it was apparent that they were less concerned about the bill and more concerned with they well being of my pet. When I checked out the following morning the bill was $300 less than they had originally quoted. What a blessing to be amoung people who truly care about my pet. He is SLOWLY recuperating with the gracious help from professional people. I contacted the owner of the Emergency Pet Hospital and explained that he should be concerned that his staff was unable to diagnose and their unprofessional methods to suggest more tests just to get the bill higher. He stands behind his staffs decisions and said that I should have asked about the costs and that it not his staff's responsibility to continue to update me on costs. My intention was never to receive a handout although the owner made it very clear that I was naive to think that if drugs were being provided that I should assume that more charges were be applied. Maybe I am naïve but it certainly would not have escalated had they simply kept me informed. And then the final straw....the Emergency Pet Hospital contacted me to confirm his 7pm appointment that evening. I never set up a follow visit for the many reasons already stated. Although I find it interesting that they set him up with a 7pm checkup - of course after hours and emergency rates. I hope that people spend some time reading reviews before they make a decision on where to bring their pets for help. Save your money and time! Never again! Read Less

Just read the news about their employee abusing a dog and thought I would share the story of my experience here. I came home one day to find my cat Luna walking with a limp, and after waiting a few hours, I went to this hospital in desperation as her leg was not getting any better. The vet and apparent owner, Mohammad Hassan, came in and immediately grabbed her leg and starting forcibly manipulating the joint where her knee is. The whole time, my poor cat is yowling in pain and I keep asking him whats wrong and is this what they normally do, while I'm crying the whole time. He tells me she has a luxating patella and will need immediate surgery first thing in the morning and it will cost $2,000, (at which point I start bawling even harder, since I def. didn't have that kind of money and it would prob. mean I would have to put my baby down). He didn't mention anything about an x-ray and asked if I wanted to pay the first installment that night. This whole ordeal btw cost me $300, and while I can't confirm if this definitely made an impact on my cats condition, I can tell you she couldn't walk the next day. Went to the cat hospital the next day instead and they handled her as gingerly as a newborn baby. Do your animal a favor and skip this place at all costs. Read Less

We used this vet for our cat for an emergency service over the evening.  Very glad they are open 24 hours.  That visit went fine. Fast forward 2 months later and it's time to re-up on flea meds.  I use Comfortis because my cats fleas are unfortunately resistant to Advantage.  I called to make sure it was in stock because this place is 30 minutes from my house and not very convenient, but the only other vet she's been to was the ASPCA where she was spayed which is also very far from my house.  I am told it is in stock. So I drive there after calling to verify the meds are there (with appropriate weight info) and when I get there, surprise surprise they don't have them.  This girl behind the counter was a total dingbat.  I ask to get my cats records emailed to another vet closer to my house so I can get the appropriate meds and another girl says I can just get the next dose up (for a heavier cat) and half it and it will work.  "That's what I do", she said. Why I chose to listen to her I have no idea....  But I stupidly followed her advice and the treatment did not work.  I waited a month and got the appropriate medicine for my cats weight and its been a week and a half and she still has fleas.  She has not gained any weight so it appears that the fleas are now also resistant to Comfortis because of the bad advise. As fleas become resistant to flea meds it is harder to find things that work and now this is one less thing I can use. Please don't misinform any more people about flea meds.  You are contributing to the problem of resistance! The emergency vet seemed fine, but I'm unsure if they really have it totally together there.   Seems from this instance and other reviews like you have to meet them halfway with what procedures they want to do and what information they dole out.I was initially advised not to use this vet as they told my friend that her dogs broken leg would have to be amputated.  They got a second opinion and he leg was saved.  I was panicked when I thought my cat may be hurt so I did, anyway.   Basically I think this place is a mixed bag.   Proceed with caution. I feel like we were set up for failure. As a Local Business owner I am a firm believer of supporting your local businesses when they deserve it. Here is my story:I brought my dog in a week ago to be neutered a week ago to this place because they accepted the Care Credit program ( its Christmas season and money is tight ) our regular vet does not accept care credit so we came here to have it done.  The procedure was fine and the price was fair However, the Doctor did NOT use staples to stitch my dog. Being that he is the professional I did not question his discussion, I mean he must do this procedure at least one or two of these a month right!?5 days later the wound opened up and I had to bring my dog back in to be re stitched as the doctor was stapling my dog back together he stated that " This is why I like using staples on big dogs like this because they always rip the stitches out. " I thought this to simply be an admission of his mistake in the first place and left it at that. Now I'm in Billing and the cashier tells me I owe more thank $200 for this visit.  I did everything in my control not to totally loose it in that office. As I stood at the counter calmly doing my keep calm breathing exercises the cashier can see that I am not happy with this total so he asked if I want to speak to the doctor and i said yes please.  he then comes back and tells me that the doctor decided to only charge 1/2 price for the Clean and flush wound service.  I told him it would really matter if I don't have the money to pay it.  in the end, I am out $180.00 because he didn't use staples in the first place. The cashier proceed to tell me that the staples will be removes free of charge and my response to him was that I have experience taking out staples and that I may not be coming back but to keep the appointment open just in case.  I then explained to him exactly how I felt about this visit.  He purposely did not use staples on my dog knowing that their was a greater possibility of me coming back with some king of issue.I don't care about the $72.00 for the 28 Clavamox pills and the $32.45 for the Penicillian G-Na+ injection (even tho I think that was a bit more than normal) but i should have NEVER been charged for the Exam Recheck $35.00, Clean and Flush Wound $70.00 - $35.00 = $35.00 and Bio-hazard fee of $5.00 because if he would have done his job property in the first place I would have never had an issue. In conclusion I have a Local regular Vet and an emergency vet 30 Mins. away from my home that I will be using from now on. Even though this place is 13 minutes away from my home.I hope this helps whom ever is reading it. Read Less

BEWARE! We had an absolutely horrible experience here with our 4 year old American Bulldog. After multiple visits to this clinic, many tear filled conversations about our dog, and thousands of dollars spent on her treatment Dr. Hassan didn't even have the decency to return multiple calls we made right after taking our dog home explaining that she was struggling to breathe. The day after we brought our dog home we took her to a specialist. They determined that many of the tests Dr. Hassan performed would have to be done again. We were shocked to learn that the pricing for the same procedures was 40%-60% less than Dr. Hassan's pricing. Why were we shocked? Because he insisted on many occasions that he was saving us potentially thousands of dollars by allowing him to treat her instead of the specialist. Turns out that was a blatant lie. We had a diagnosis from the specialist in 4 hours and at a quarter of the cost of his "treatment." Our dog was diagnosed with cancer by the specialist. We wasted precious time and thousands of dollars because we trusted Dr. Hassan. I sincerely believe that he intentionally misled us and absolutely did not have our dog's best interest in mind when he recommended that we keep her there instead of taking her to the specialist. When we mentioned that we had an appointment set with the oncologist, he talked us out of that appointment by insisting that Casey was getting better and by claiming that we would spend $3,000 before noon if we took her there.  Neither could have been further from the truth. The receptionist presented an invoice to us for thousands of dollars without any explanation as to what the charges were. Even when we asked the doctor he didn't take the time to offer a detailed explanation. He didn't present any estimate of the charges before treatment. He took advantage of our emotional and vulnerable state of mind. He over promised, under delivered, and grossly over charged. Read Less

He has now seen her an additional time for follow-up and cleaned out her incision again, and I will be seeing him one more time as she continues to heal. If you check out their website, they have a coupon for a free initial pet exam. Also, you can get a pet exam, tests, and shots for $100 for both cats and dogs. I will definitely be bringing my other cats here in the future for their yearly exams and shots. Read Less

This hospital was great when they first opened.  Fair prices, great staff, clean, etc.  Now, their prices have skyrocketed, parts of the building reek of cat urine, and there never seems to be the same staff there with the exception of the doctor, whose professionalism I have come to question over the last few years of going there. My first few visits were fine and began with an emergency for one of my dogs that had been recently diagnosed with cancer.  She was cared for well enough and efficiently, without any trouble.  As I kept going back for routine visits with her and my other 2 dogs, things at the hospital seemed to be going downhill with each visit.  (With the exception of the prices, which kept going uphill.)Then I took another one of my dogs in for an emergency and he decided that she needed to have her spleen removed.  I left her there to be rushed into surgery and I went home to anxiously await a phone call.  Several hours later, he called, still in the middle of surgery, and told me, "Guess what?  I don't think she's going to make it."  He paused, then chuckled and said, "No, she's doing fine.  I'm going to check her other organs to see if they look okay."  How is my dog's life a joke??I got to pick her up 2 days later and was presented with a bill for not one, but TWO surgeries.  Apparently, him saying that he was going to "check her other organs" and me not replying "no, don't do that" somehow turned into me consenting to him performing an abdominal exploratory surgery on top of the splenectomy.  I paid my $3000 bill and took my dog home.About 6 weeks later, she was showing the same signs of distress that led to the last visit, but when I called and explained the situation, I was told by the receptionist it would be a several hour wait to even look at her.  As a veterinary technician myself, I knew my dog was in severe distress and didn't have that much time, so I called another veterinarian in the area who took her in immediately.I'd also like to point out that the review posted on yelp by Ultra P. for this hospital was written by me on another website after the first time I visited this hospital.  I have since deleted that review from the other site because I no longer trust this hospital. The doctor and staff and this establishment make this the best emergency vet clinic in the area.  Everything is explained clearly, calls are returned when they say they will, and there is no condescending attitude like some vets have.  Cost estimates are fair and are provided before any service is performed.  Everyone here is at the top of their game professionally.I hope you don't need emergency vet services, but this one is worth the trip to if you do for fair and compassionate service. My boyfriend and I took our puppy of 9 weeks into this hospital at 11pm one night because she was throwing up repeatedly and wasn't eating. The vet examined her for about 15 minutes and charged us $250. He said it probably wasn't anything major, and that he could run some tests but he really didn't think they were necessary. So we paid, left, and were told to come back three or four days later if she didn't improve.Last night (two days later), we rushed her to Banfield hospital because she was only getting worse. The vets there told us she has two types of worms and Parvo, a deadly and unfortunately somewhat common puppy disease. They couldn't believe that the vet at the Emergency Clinic dismissed all her symptoms, and said the key to fighting the disease is catching it early. We ended up paying LESS total (including all her tests and exams) at Banfield @ Petsmart than we paid for our visit to this facility - with no tests, and a quickie exam. Now, she is hanging on for dear life at Banfield, and another wonderful night hospital, which I emphatically recommend over this one. (VEC veconline.com). We hope she will survive, and we hope that the vet at this facility is more observant of his patients next time.If your pet is sick, take him or her to a Banfield, or to the VEC Orlando. Only go to emergency clinics that are vet recommended, where the vets are patient, thorough, and informative.___________Edit/follow-up to this review: My puppy survived, miraculously, due to her own tenacity and the amazing work of the Banfield crew and the night hospital crew. I hope you never have to use emergency services for your pet. But, if you do, know that this hospital will provide compassionate and effective service. This winter I had a scare with one of my dogs. We just came in from a walk and he started convulsing on the stair landing. At first, I had no idea what was happening. I just knew he needed medical attention ASAP.I called Emergency Pet Hospital and they instructed me to bring him right away. This had never happened before, and my concern was he ate something outside or was bitten by a creepy insect. The vet ran a battery of tests, to ensure his organs were operating properly. He was very thorough in his care and explanation. He let me know exactly what he was checking for and what potentially the results would indicate. It turns out my dog likely had a seizure - the vet provided a treatment plan and monitoring program for me to follow.  He also kept my dog for observation for several hours, at no additional charge. I really believe he just wanted to make sure he was alright. Read Less

Read Less

Do not, I repeat please DO NOT take your pet here!! First this place is a rip off. No one ever gave me a daily break down of charges. They just kept over dosing my kitty with the SAME anti viral meds over and over. $2,200 later they never gave a prognosis. They just kept saying they don't know, it's a virus.Second they are in compassionate, towards animals and towards people.  The office manager is NO help and totally incompetent. The staff is rude. They held my cat hostage until I could pay the bill in full! No payment plan, nothing. Thirdly there is NO kind of communication with pet owners. I never got ONE phone call from them the entire 3 days my cat was there, unless of course, I called. I saw the 2 star rating on Google but went there because it was close. Never ever making that mistake again!! Spread the word about this place. It's horrible!! Read Less

Please, no one should ever bring their animal to this Vet, ever.  I have been following them online since my dog was abused there.  There have been many incidents as you can see in previous comments, including my own dog being abused here. If it is 3AM and you have to drive across town to go somewhere else, do it. You and your animal will regret it if you don't. Read Less

I owe so much gratitude to this team for saving my dog's life last week. My 11yr old Boxer developed bloat around midnight and after a quick Google I realized it was an emergency. This was the nearest 24hr vet so I rushed him there. Dr. Hassan and team were very direct about his condition and the need to work quickly. I was of course upset about my dog and I was there seeking treatment but I was concerned about the cost. Dr. Hassan graciously skipped the diagnostics and went with his gut so he could save my dog's life and not break the bank. The procedure went great, thankfully it wasn't escalated to surgery, and my dog was back to normal approximately 48hrs after incident. I am forever grateful and I will absolutely refer friends here. We have used Dr Hassan and his staff for pet healthcare for several years now. He and his professional staff are ready whenever we need them to perform anything from routine exams and minor procedures to emergency surgery. On our most recent visit we brought our cat in and he had gotten caught on a fence which peeled back the skin on his leg from thigh to past his knee. The doctor was able to not only save his leg but repaired him so well the only lasting effect was a thin scar. The doctor is reasonable in pricing and will not suggest unneeded procedures or medications. He is very knowledgeable across species and a very skilled healer. Read Less

Terrible experience with this Vet. Our cat was having trouble breathing. Dr. Hussan was unsympathetic and heartless. Wanted us to spent $700 on x-rays which we totally could not afford. Was told that my cat may die TODAY!!! Which made my upset daughter even more distraught. He finally gave my cat a steroid shot, and some antibiotics. After a few days, he's doing just fine (without the wasted $700 x-rays that he recommended). Our total bill came to $215. Don't go to this place. Upon arriving I was told that they could not attend to my sick pup for whatever reasons and so they referred me to a nearby animal clinic. However, upon arriving there they were full and I needed to make an appointment. I was on my own, desperately searching for a vet to help my puppy. On my way back to Emergency pet hospital to tell them the hospital they referred me to cannot accommodate me and I need emergency help, my dog passed away in the back seat of my car. My wife and I went in there with our dog, Sandy, having very bad seizures. The immediately brought us to the back and began treatment, and and the paperwork and everything else was taken care of later. The Vet techs took great care of Sandy, and gave what they could until the Doctor made it to her. The whole staff was very good at explaining the situation, and being realistic with us. Sandy is currently receiving treatment. I noticed that a lot of the complaints have to deal with the price. Veterinarians are expensive, bottom line. The majority of people do not have pet insurance, so one has to pay cash for all of the procedures.

Read Less

Your ready to go, I had no idea the doctor was done seeing us. We didn't get a thank you for letting us take care of your little guy or for taking your money. I don't think I'll be back is rather just find another 24 hour place. The doctor gave my animal an injection but didn't bother to tell us what it was before he did it. What if my animal was allergic to the meds! Highly dissatisfied. Read Less

My cat has has glaucoma in his right eye since last October. I took him to a vet in Maitland on 17/92 and they suggested I use drops for his eye to release the pressure. I woke up last week to my cats eye bleeding from the eye exploding probably from the pressure that the drops evidently did nothing for. I rushed him to the Pet Hospital for the emergency surgery. The Dr took great care in performing the surgery and my cat is back to normal and happy as can be. It was pricey for the surgery cost me 1100 but to see my cat relieved of the pain is a blessing. I am very pleased with the care he received.

Read Less

As a dog lover I am absolutely thrilled this establishment is nearby. Most of the Orlando area animal clinics are quite expensive and I have found some exploit the love of our animals for profit. But Dr. Hassan offers budget friendly prices to keep Fido caught up on annual vaccinations. Did Fifi get sick at 1 am? Load the old girl up and drive here because the lights are ALWAYS on!In June of 2013 one of the staff was accused of mistreating a dog and it made headlines. While it was filmed with a phone, I think there is more to the story which involves a former employee. I will say this is no reflection of Dr. Hassan and I would not discourage anyone from getting routine medical and preventative care at this business.I pray you never need emergency services for your beloved pet. Read Less

After having a miserable experience with another vet, I was very pleased with the level of quality from the Emergency Pet Hospital of Orlando.  Dr. Mohammad Hassan carefully treated my cat, Bella, after she received a nasty infection from a poorly done spay job at another vet. He effectively washed out her incision and sent her home with the proper antibiotics. I really got the feeling that he truly cared about Bella.

Read Less
