Animal Hospital At Baldwin Park

Dr O'Malley is wonderful but the front office staff has been an absolute nightmare to deal with. Last minute cancelled my appointment on me last month. They confirmed a rescheduled appointment for a month later, but when I showed up they told me they don't take patients after 7pm. Even though THEY are the ones who scheduled the time and confirmed it in their app. Were not able to offer me another appointment until a month from now so my dog will be going without medicine and blood work two months overdue. Was also told by the front desk that it must have been MY mistake, even after showing them the appointment confirmation in their app. Told them I would just find a more reliable vet at this point and walked out the door. I have also had an issue in the past after my dog had a tumor removed. I called to fill a prescription. They called a few days later saying it was ready for pickup. Drove 30 minutes to pick it up only to be told that they had never even ordered it. Didn't come in for another two weeks. THIS WAS FOR MEDICATION MY DOG NEEDED FOR CANCER. Was also provided COMPLETELY incorrect information about the tumor pathology from Dr Trujillo.. was told the tumor was aggressive and had not fully been removed. Spent a week sobbing and panicking that my dog was terminally ill until Dr O'Malley finally faxed pathology results showing tumor was a grade 1 and completely excised.I am a physical therapist. Customer service, accountability, and accurate results mean everything in healthcare. I am tired of being spoken to like I'm a idiot by their front desk staff. I will no longer be bringing my dog here and am honestly considering returning to our vet in New Jersey when visiting my parents because it might actually be easy to drive 1000 miles for an appointment then to deal with this office again. Trying to find a vet that you feel like you can trust is hard- especially when you just moved to town and know nothing. Have had my kitten get his first shots, spay, declaw,  and now an emergency surgery for a lodged foreign object here. Scary, stressful and hard two days but after blood work, x-rays, continued trust in the vet, ultrasound, and surgery my baby seems like he will recover just fine. I had dropped off my puppy while on vacation and had arranged to have his vaccinations done.... well that was not done and then I had to wait over an hour while they had the vaccinations done.... I should have been able to pick up my dog, Pay and leave but I had to stay and waste my time. Read Less

I emailed this place to ask if they were experienced with dogs that have had vaccine reactions because my dog has had some over the years. Therefore, I now try to limit what she gets. I didn't really get an answer to that question though. However, I also asked if they did titer testing and they said yes but it can get expensive. They didn't quote me any prices. So they do titer testing but it seems like they portray it so negatively by saying it's expensive and driving away a possible new client. That's not a good business model. Wow! I was beyond impressed with Animal Hospital Baldwin Park. I switched my dog to Dr. O'Malley after being years with another vet for many years. I wish I switched sooner. This place feels different than most vet offices. It feels more like a home that has a place for animals to be taken care of. The staff work very well together and is very thoughtful. Regarding Dr. Omalley - hard to express in words. She took the time to really get to know my dog. I brought x-rays from the previous vet of a year ago. She pointed out immediately something that wasn't previously shared with me. Also, she really helped me better understand how to care for a senior dog. Amazing doctor and amazing place. I love taking my fur baby to the hopsital. The staff & doctors are just great, especially Dr. Jaclyn! The first time I brought my doggy here, he wasn’t feeling well at all. Just a few days ago I brought him back for a check up, it was nice to know they remembered him. I definitely recommend this place to anyone! Read Less

This is a wonderful vets office, open late and weekends and as a person who goes to school and work this is perfect for me, even if its swinging buy to pick up medicines. They have never steered me in the wrong direction. All the staff and vets are super friendly! Place is clean and organized. They give a breakdown of different options for treatments and you can pick and choose which you would like to do without them being pushy and trying to force more treatments than you may want. Throughly fo over every reason why a treatment or procedure is needed, and answer any questions about a procedure or anything in general. Very patient and kind would recommend anyone to come here. (I have 2 labradoodles 70-90lbs and a 155 lb mastiff). Read Less

We board our dog here whenever we travel. She always comes home happy and healthy. The staff is extremely friendly and kind to both us and our dog. We would definitely recommend AHBP to anyone looking for a reliable boarding facility. Read Less

Been coming here since my Westie was a puppy, he's 9 yrs old and today we had an emergency, so worried since I'm traveling in two days, they were able to see him right out away, uff what a relief... so nice to belong to a practice that sees emergency until 10:00pm Monday - Friday. Paige and the other techs were helpful and friendly. The actual doc was very dismissive (as overworked vets often are). I went there for a potential heart issue with my dog. She said “he doesn’t have a heart murmur so you guys are good to go” and she didn’t even use the stethoscope- she was in the room with us for about 3 total minutes. I hate confrontation so i decided to just take him to a better vet... There’s no way anyone can tell about a heart murmur unless you have a stethoscope (or are Superman). Having worked with large animal veterinarians in the past, this is the attitude of a vet who is burnt out and regretting her career choice. So other than the fact that the doc will push you out the door ASAP because she detests her job and doesn’t realize animal welfare is at stake, the people were friendly and accommodating. I’m never going back though... Edit: i just wanted to reiterate the fact that it was a female doctor, dr Trujillo, who saw me and it seems like she has a lot of reviews where she doesn’t actually investigate the issue before she blows it off- reference: pretty much any low rating review. Management- maybe replace her with someone competent; customers- ask for anyone else. Also, because of the super helpful and friendly techs (Paige- you’re amazing! Stay golden pony boy!) i do feel guilty having to even write this review, but my dogs safety is not something i take lightly, and if i found out one of my employees was slacking off I’d like to know. That’s all, thanks. Edit 2: Paula called me and offered a free exam to make up for the half assed exam yesterday. Very professional and easily the best interaction I’ve had with a business when handling a complaint- i was expecting an ass chewing, which is how businesses handle complaints in Colorado so I’m impressed by the southern hospitality. Bought my cat in because he hasn't been feeling well. I recently got a puppy that was treated for parasites at a different vet and I felt he may have passed it onto my cat. I originally made the appointment for my cat but decided to bring the dog along as well because in order for my cat to have parasites the dog must still have them! They saw lucky first because that's who the appointment was originally for. The dr pushed a problem with hyperthyroid on me and said she didn't believe my cat had parasites and was forcing blood work on me. I said I wanted them to both be fecal tested first. The fecal test was really fast (which is unusual.) I was sent home thinking both of my pets had negative fecal tests and that maybe my cat needed blood work. I took my dog to his original vet for a routine check up and turns out he's heavily infested with parasites so it's normal to assume my cat is too. I called this animal hospital expressing my concerns and expecting a refund and they claimed they suggested that I have the fecal test sent to the lab for further examination which isn't true. My boyfriend was there with me and all that was recommended was blood work. I'll never come back here again. Read Less

So grateful for the staff and doctors at Baldwin Park Animal Hospital. They take such great care of my kitty. Both times I have brought my cat in it’s been becuase of an emergency. They let me drop her off and pick her up when she’s ready. Prices are reasonable and the doctors do a great job at explaining what’s going on. I highly recommend this veterinarian! Read Less

This is an amazing group that understands customer service combined with medical knowledge. I like this animal hospital. It's very clean and smells nice (they use infusers).We always get convenient appointment times and the telephone staff is quite nice.My complaint: no one introduces themselves. They are all very nice, but no one gives their name or job so you don't know who you're talking to.Dr. Trujillo is not very personable and does not listen. In fact, tonight a receptionist was asking if she wanted to see my dog for a follow up and she walked away. The receptionist said "T" you're walking away while I'm talking to you. I said"that's what she does".Dr OMalley is amazing. She answered all of our questions, engaged in conversation about our dog and never talked down to us. I absolutely love Dr. T and her staff! We have had to visit a few more times that normal, due to my mischievous puppy! Most recently calli had to have emergency surgery to remove an avocado pit! Avoid this vet if you can, while we've used them several time they are always looking to generate revenue and add unnecessary tests to visit.  They also seems to have been confusing our pet records.  This was very upsetting.  While they were conveniently located near us in Baldwin Park I rather make the drive than deal with their foolishness. After moving back to the US with our pooch recently, we were in need of a new doctor for her. We were looking forward to hopefully meeting a wonderful veterinarian here at Animal Hospital Baldwin Park after doing some research and seeing all the positive reviews online. I called yesterday morning and made an appointment for 7:30 tonight. Doing so required me leaving work early which would have been worth it. We showed up promptly at 7:30 and were told by Janice that someone (not sure who?) was clocking out and we wouldn't be seen. I explained to her that when I called yesterday morning and reserved an appointment it was at 7:30 tonight. She said "You were told 7:15 not 7:30 so you will not be seen tonight" in an unprofessional and a confrontational manner. I politely asked if I could reschedule and she said I would have to wait until she got back to make an appointment. I told her it was ok and that we would go elsewhere. She then turned around without saying a word and walked off. If she had treated me in a professional manner with respect and courtesy, I may have chosen to try and reschedule but I just couldn't bring myself to engage anymore in the conversation. I work in a medical facility myself and I am in contact with patients and patients families each day and if my attitude, demeanor and lack of professionalism ever mirrored hers, I would be terminated immediately. Not only did I lose money today by leaving work early, I am now faced with trying to find a new office for my fur baby to be seen in. I am not in anyway saying that this office is a bad place to bring your pups or that the doctors are lacking- I am writing this to put a spotlight on the office staff member that I interacted with today. I take my 1 year old dog here for his routine checkups. Their location was convenient to me. They are never too busy and are able to get me an appointment within two weeks. Service is usually quick and vet techs are helpful and nice. I have used their boarding service once. My dog seemed to enjoy it. Pricing for boarding is based upon pet weight.My dog has had some health issues recently and this location has been my go-to. They have been unable to diagnose my dog. Additionally, the veterinarians do call to follow up sometimes. I would like there to be more communication between the vet and myself. It seems as though the vets are continually leaving, being replaced by new ones (maybe traveling vets) - I am unsure but I have seen different vets and vet techs each time I have come in.Of course, because of it's location in Baldwin Park, prices for operations/medicine/checkups etc are more expensive than others out there. I have been taking my cat to Animal Hospital at Baldwin Park for close to 3 years now and they've always been amazing! Ms. Sullivan (my cat) doesn't particularly enjoy being at the vet and the staff has always been very gentle, caring and patient with her. I love that they are open late during the week so I can take her in after work and they've even accommodated same-day appointments when health issues arose. As long as I'm living in Orlando, I'll only take Ms. Sullivan to Animal Hospital at Baldwin Park. Read Less

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.  THEY SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN. Do not expect them to diagnose your pet correctly.  Just because it is in Baldwin Park, do not expect good service. They also overcharge for their horrible service. They are always overbooked and just rush you out and I've been there several times and always are dissatisfied.  I'm not one to complain unless service is really bad folks, and below is the reason why....My favorite, was the last time we took our older dog in for a weezing cough, the so called Baldwin Park "vet" told us it had something to do with The sun, sun rays, and allergies with no true diagnosis or medicine.  We took our guy to another vet because if this bullshit answer, to which the new vets' jaw dropped.  Our dog was developing congestive heart failure and we were fortunate enough to get it diagnosed and treated before it got worse. My sweet Brandy recently passed away 3 weeks ago and it was sudden and out of the blue. I was, and still am truly heart broken. The vets and vet techs at the Animal Hospital of Baldwin Park have gotten to know Brandy thru the years and thru a couple of surgeries. They have always been good to her. Brandy passed away at home and I took her to the after hours hospital that they are associated with, where I was treated like family. Today I received a card in the mail from the Animal Hospital of Baldwin Park where they had the Arbor Day Foundation plant a tree in Brandy's honor at Chippewa National Forest. I live down the street and why did I not come to them sooner?? I have 2 dogs, a 4 year old lab and recently adopted a 10 week old puppy lab too. My puppy got acutely sick, lethargic, vomiting, refuses to eat or drink. He has only received his first set of vaccinations and I am definitely worry about his immune system. Turns out that he is running a fever too. I was worried sick and the vet that I originally set up with cannot take him as a walk in. I started calling vet clinics around and found this place. They have no problem accommodating me. The girls in the front desk are super nice and actually care. Even though they said that it could be a 1-3 hr wait, they would love to take care of my puppy. When I got there, I didn't have to wait to get into the exam room. I didn't have to wait to see Dr. Nunez, which OMG, what a passionate and wonderful vet. He started telling me about all these cutting edge research/procedures that he is doing and gave me a tour of the clinic. He told me my pup is going to be ok. Never once did I feel like I was being forced into getting any unnecessary tests, I felt very confident with his judgements. They also offer puppy and adult wellness plans. Terrible. Disorganized. Unprofessional. I took my dog for an out of town visit to treat her vomiting. The doctor ticked off an inventory sheet of medicines and essential oils that I needed to give her for various issues unrelated to the reason for the visit. The total cost climbed until he presented it to me and asked if I was good with it, all this with foul language and repeating himself. I determined this particular visit didn't require that much treatment, especially since I had another vet at home, and he simply crossed out a few items, recalculated (with an actual calculator), and spun the paper around and said, "how's this then?" In the end I didn't actually buy any of the medicines or herbal remedies, and unfortunately didn't get any treatment for the vomiting either, because the masses of people running around never actually seemed to get to what was needed. After an unreasonable amount of time and confusion, I simply paid for the exam and left. I would not recommend this veterinarian office under any circumstances. Read Less

I have been seeing Dr. Beth and Dr. Al for 9 years and they are great. If you don't understand something they will explain it so you can. Paula what a great tech. she is always ready to help you and your pet no matter what. The whole staff is wonderful and polite. I could not of found a better place to take my two dog. What words can I find to express my deepest appreciation and gratitude for the service that they have provided, lovely, caring, and it was all authentic. My dog Achilles had tumors, these doctors, Nunez, O'Malley and Dr. David and please you can't forget the staff... caring. Dr. Nunez with his humor and sincerity made you feel like family...they did everything they could to save Achilles, but unfortunately, Friday was his last day on this earth. All I can say THANK YOU, and God bless all of you with wisdom, talent, patience and prosperity. I will tell everyone as I am doing, you got a dog, a cat, then you need to see these doctors for your pets health. I only have great things to say about the Animal Hospital at Baldwin Park. My dog Lincoln has received the best care from Dr. David. The staff is extremely helpful and sweet. I have never had a long wait time and they are quick but also very thorough with every examination. Each time Lincoln has been sick, I have felt that he is in the best hands. The office is bright and clean. All the staff is kind, professional, and go above and beyond to care for the pets. Dr. David in particular is incredibly gentle during his examinations. They clearly explain all charges in detail and don't try to force you to pay for services that are unnecessary. We are so happy we found this vet. After coming here for the first time, we couldn't believe we had put up with the nightmare our old vet put us through, for so long. Friendly staff but plan to spend at least 30 minutes waiting. They're consistently understaffed. Without fail, drop off will take at least 20 minutes which in my opinion is terrible client service. While this is likely not the technicians fault, it ruins the experience. It makes me stressed which in turn makes my fur baby stressed even more than she already is! Read Less

I had such a great experience here yesterday. Several friends referred me & I'm so glad they did. My dog had been suffering from eye problems for about a year & Dr. David did a thorough exam & ran several tests to diagnose the problem. As a new puppy mom, I was very nervous to bring my puppy to the vet for the first time. This place was recommended to me by the people I bought my puppy from. The staff was very friendly, and the location is cute and comfortable. Sarah helped us first, who was so helpful and so excited to meet my puppy. She made sure that she answered all my questions thoroughly. David was the vet who met with us next, and he was equally excited about my puppy. They both acted like it was the first puppy they've ever seen, not the millionth. You can tell they genuinely love animals. After moving had to find a new Vet after being with the same one for 18 yrs. Nerve-racking, your pets are your children. My boyfriend Wesley Whitson referred me saying Dr Nunez was hands down the BEST in FL. He was right. Never known a Doctor who was as incredibly educated in all aspects of medicine fr holistic to modern day medicines. His ability to blend together all techniques practiced world wide allows him to customize treatment specifically for your pet. I wish I could find a human MD this good for myself lol. He took time to educate me and answer every single question I had. Offering several routes to go. He truly has a compassion for your pets well being & health. I love the staff. Dr. David is amazing! There is a female doctor but I can't remember her name but she was very good as well. There is also a vet tech named Harley who is so sweet. I have been bringing my golden doodle Melo to this vet since he was 8 weeks old, he's now 4 years old. I always thought they were expensive but the location is convenient and the staff and doctors have always been nice. Yesterday I took Melo immediately because he had a fever of 104.7 and he was lethargic, not himself. I sat there for 3 hours, he drew some labs. Melo had a very abnormal lab that could be something very serious, so he sent me home with steroids and an antibiotic and resent blood to a third party lab to confirm the dangerously low platelet count. Melo had a fever all night, went up actually. I got little sleep because I was putting cold water rags on him to try to cool him down. I had my parents stay with him while I went to work the next day. I called as soon as I got out of work, inquiring about the labs that were sent out. They said the results weren't in. I told the girl I talked to on the phone that he was still febrile and I needed to talk to the doctor, as we are now going into 48 hours of a high fever. I never heard back from anyone in the office, not one call to even see how he was doing, if I needed anything or with results of lab work. Needless to say, I am very disappointed and will most likely go to a different vet in the future.Read Less

I have been coming to this vet for years now, unfortunately we will be finding another vet now. The wait to see a vet, even with an apt. seems to be an hour every time. The last we went they didn't give us a break down of the bill until after the visit which was over $400! The vet wanted to test a small growth which she couldn't pull fluid from so she took a needle and started scraping it open, with a needle?! The medications, shampoos, wipes ect are all completely over priced. Ive looked on Amazon and found the same things for a quarter of the price. The vet was kind, genuine, and very reasonable with suggesting what products were really needed for my new puppy. We LOVE Animal Hospital at Baldwin Park. Not long after we took our greyhound for routine care he came down with an acute case of pancreatitis. It was terrifying BUT they got us in as an emergency appointment that night. Their diagnosis was spot on. We were even able to board our grey over thar weekend WITH medication being administered (we were out of town for a wedding). Their caring, knowledgeable staff and accommodating hours make this the only vet I'll be seeing! Read Less

Prior to deciding to adopt a pet, we researched Veterinarians. We chose Animal Hospital at Baldwin Park. We are so glad we did. Our beautiful cat IS always treated well by the staff and Drs. She has been a total of 4 times. Most recently, dental cleaning. Dr. Nunez and Dr. Trujillo truly care for our fur baby and we are always pleased with their bed side manner, professionalism, sincerity, knowledge and treatment options provided. Normally, we bring our Basset to another vet. Malcolm seemed to be having some big pain problems & we wanted to a second opinion holistically speaking. We saw Dr. David Vilallonga & he was fabulous! Our friends, Tammy & Bill Thomas recommended your office because they use you folks too. As a matter of fact, the entire staff was just brilliant! We adopted a feral kitten on May 15 and made an appointment to bring her in for her first check up on May 20. We expressed over and over and over again that we were new kitten parents and had a lot of questions and needed guidance. While the staff was nice, including the doctor, it was never suggested to us at that time that we should have a complete blood count or any further testing done on her, even though she was a feral. Instead, they nonchalantly told us she had fleas and were more "concerned" about her ear mites and pushing products on us to repel fleas and a product  to clean her ears. After all was said and done, we ended up spending $180 for a quick check up, ear cleaning, and a fecal sample. Most of that amount was for products. A week later she got sick with diarrhea and we took her to a second vet because they were "too busy" to see her. Fortunately the second vet was more thorough and told us they were really concerned about her fleas. They also said she looked emaciated and likely had anemia. Neither of these things were reviewed or suggested at Baldwin just a couple days before. They two were pricey, but at least they were thorough. Unfortunately it was too late and as of Friday, after only having her for 14 days we found out the anemia was so bad (10% packed cell volume), there wasn't a whole lot that could be done, but they would still help us try. We put her on antibiotics and steroids. Unfortunately, it was too late and we lost our kitty in our arms yesterday.I'm not sure if doing a CBC would've really change anything, as the fleas were probably attacking her for a while before we even got her. But it is extremely frustrating and heartbreaking that this place was not as thorough as they should knowing we were new kitten parents and our baby was a feral. They didn't even check her gums. It wasn't until we were the second that we found out they were white. Again, something we would not know to check because... New kitten parents. We expressed from the beginning we needed them to help guide us a bit. Tomorrow we have to bring our seven week old kitten who is currently on ice to a cremation center tomorrow. I've taken my bluetick coonhound, Esme here since she was a lil pup at 9 weeks. Now she's almost 3 yrs and I still love this vet. The staff is always so friendly and I can tell they really love all the animals that come in. I started with Dr. Vilallonga as my main vet, but now mostly see Dr. Trujillo. They are both wonderful with Esme and I really trust their opinions and guidance with keeping my pup happy and healthy. If I was better with names I'd give some shout outs to Esme's favorite team members, but just know how great you all are! Read Less

I purchased a shihtzu/bichon mix 8 week old puppy from "Just Puppies" located in downtown Orlando. The purchase cane with a free visit at this animal hospital and I've experienced nothing short of kind, caring and professionalism from the staff and vet here. My puppy doesn't mind going to the vet because he knows he'll be showered with affection and I appreciate the attention to detail this place has given the new member to my family. I've been bringing all of my dogs to this vet location over the past few years. My first dog last year had an enlarge heart and was rushed here after having a seizure. The doctor took us in right away. He kept me up to date about what they were doing to treat him and were very up front about his condition. He passed away later that evening. His heart was just to enlarge and crushed his esophagus. When I came into make arrangements the staff was very caring. They offered a heartfelt option to have him cremated. Later I came to pick up my dogs ashes. The staff called a few days later to see how I was. A week later I recieved a card saying a tree had been planted in memory of my dog . I continue to bring my other dog in and always receive great care.Read Less

Well, I became a customer by accident. My lost cat was reported deceased on the side of the road nearby and this was the closest location to where he was found. The sincerity and kindness the staff showed me - I have no words for. They cried with me and gave me all the time I needed to say goodbye. They surprised me again weeks later when I received a card in the mail from the Tahoe National Forrest saying a donation had been made in Pickle's name. That level of thoughtfulness will never been forgotten.Since then, I have only used Baldwin Park Animal Hospital. It is a bit higher than my previous vet but I know my animals are in good hands. Dr. David and the amazing techs ( thanks Paula) saved our 14 year old dog Bear's life this weekend! Bear had an impaction from a piece of a toy stuck in his small intestine. Dr. David's magical hands found the impaction that wasn't showing in the X-Rays and he surgically removed it. Less than 48 hrs after surgery Bear is back to his old self eating, drinking, and trotting around like nothing happened. Our deepest and most heartfelt thanks! Seriously, this place is amazing. Its in a ritzy part of Baldwin Park next to the Mens Divorce Law firm (lol). You can park parallel on the street in front or in the back in a huge shared parking lot.I bought my dog at a puppy store and included in the purchase price was a vet visit here. The vet techs were super detailed in the visit and convinced me to come back and make them be my vet. The best part is they are reasonably priced which is surprising for the area and the amount of professionalism they show.The first time I brought him here he was a puppy so he shook in fear of being in an unknown place. The second time he was wagging his tail and happy to be here. The third time he did the same so that makes me happy that he gets shots in the back and whatever they do makes him feel comfortable and not scared. The people working are all young and friendly and give tons of information, whether its asked for or not, and that is a plus.Every visit I've had, they call to follow up to ask if the puppy is okay which I think is sweet. They also take a picture of your dog and send you a postcard of his face in the mail to remind you of your next visit. Love the postcard - so cute!They sell alternatives to issues people have such as natural flea sprays, GPS tracking collars for dogs, natural vitamins, etc. They have a natural flea spray that smells like perfume that isnt harmful to animals and I spray it on my bed, the couch and on the dog. My boyfriend says it smells like old lady perfume but I love it and spray it a lot.This probably isnt important but I also like how the place is decorated. One of the owners must be Hindu because they have a lot of elephants and holistic progressive business going on which I dig.Only complaint is that I have to wait sometimes longer then I want (like over 10 mins). Earlier this summer my boyfriend and I found a very small kitten in our backyard who was obviously suffering and in a lot of pain. When we got close enough, we saw she had been attacked by another animal and her back leg and backside were extremely torn up- she had fly sores, you could see straight to her bone... it was bad. Only having been in Orlando for a year, we called our landlord and he referred us to the vet at Lake Underhill. Two days and a bad infection later, we were calling around for another vet. Happily, we found the Animal Hopsital at Baldwin Park. Not only did we get an appointment right away, but the empathy and concern we received echoed our own feelings about our little kitten. When they saw the bad condition, they started work immediately. They did anything and everything to ensure this kitten healed properly- skin grafts, reconstructive surgery... it was impressive. They explained how to clean the wounds, gave us a few wonder drugs, and called during the week to see how she was progressing. Best of all, since we were concerned about this sudden unexpected expense, they encouraged us to call CareCredit, which is a line of credit you pay off in installments. It really helped us out during that time. Our kitten Josie is now a happy terror, running circles around our house, jumping and climbing like nothing had ever happened. Honestly, you can't even see stitches. I cannot stress enough how badly she was ripped apart and how gently and wonderfully Dr. Nunez and his staff took care of her. Thank you for all that you did!!! I had been personally referred to Dr. Nunez' clinic by a mutual friend. I needed to board a cat for 5 nights so I could go on vacation. I stopped by personally, chatted with the desk to ask about their facilities, filled out the paperwork, and faxed the vaccination history, so I was all set weeks in advance of my trip. I was also quoted a price of $10.50 per night for the boarding at the time I reserved the spot. THE DAY BEFORE MY TRIP, I received a cheerful phone message from the facility stating that they were raising their rates, and my cat's stay was now going to be $13.50 per night. I called and talked to the desk, who talked to the mgr, who talked to the vets and who got back to me later. They totally understood that this was bad business, raising rates without notice, on the eve of my trip, with my budget set. I also explained that I was bringing all my own food and litter for special needs purposes. And that this boarding was a safety issue as I have 2 cats, and was boarding one to separate the young cat from the 14 year old so they did not stress each other out being alone together. So they called me back and stated that the new escalated prices would stand. Greedy small minded people. So they did not make the $67.50 or the old price of $52.50. And they lost any future revenue from me, including using them as vets for a lifetime for the cat boarding as he is a young rescue and does not yet have a vet. THOUSANDS of dollars this stupid decision cost them. So I rearranged my budget and put him up for 5 nights at a $20 per night luxury cat facility where he was not crated all day and was loved and carried around like a baby. I have been taking my dogs there for years for their medical care, and to board them. Since they offer a broad spectrum of care, from traditional to less invasive "alternative" modalities, my dogs have lived long lives. My lab is 13 years old and still plays like a puppy (I think she still thinks she is a puppy, frankly). On the occasions where I have needed to board my dogs, they always are happy, healthy, and clean when I pick them up. The doctors and staff are friendly and helpful to me, and gentle and caring with my dogs. The staff always communicates well regarding their recommendations and costs, which I appreciate. The facility is clean and well equipped to handle any procedure or protocol of care, so I know my dogs health won't be compromised due to a lack of available resources. The doctors are the best I have encountered. All in all, I would wholeheartedly recommend them to any of my friends whose pets I care about, knowing that they couldn't do any better in caring for their pet than to take them there. Read Less

Several months ago, we brought our dog, Bentley, into the Animal Hospital at Baldwin Park,on an emergency basis. Let me mention that we were not a patient there but barged in anyway. Bentley had Ivermectin posioning, due to another Vet's error. He was convulsing, blind and had no motor skills. We knew we were going to lose him or at the very least he would end up blind or have brain damage. The staff started working on him immediately as well as stayed on the phone with posion control and AVS ( Emerg. Specialists). After several hours, he was stable enough to move to the Emerg. Hospital. The Hospital stated, due to the immediate care from Baldwin Park Animal Hospital as well as Bentley's Age, he had a good chance of pulling through, however we were not sure if he would have any lasting damage. After several weeks of initial and follow-up care we are happy to say that Bentley not only pulled through, he is completely healthly and happy. I have no doubt that without the initial treatment at the Animal Hospital in Baldwin Park that Bentley probably would not have made it. Bentley receives the same care and compassion when he goes in on his regular visits now as he did when he was there on an emergency basis. Dr. Nunez and staff have always listened to my special needs for my pets. I have three dogs, and it can sometimes be hard to keep up with what they need. The staff always lets me know what my pets are due for and allows me to make up my own mind. I like to combine Eastern and Western medicine and they always tailor my pets' plans just for us! We have been taking our cats to Dr. Nunez for more than 5 years. A year a half ago, we brought a homeless kitten home and unfortunately, he was evidently a carrier of Feline Panleukopenia and every one of our 10 cats got the disease. Dr. Nunez and his caring staff saved our cats lives, as this disease is often deadly. We owe a great debt of gratitude to this caring and quite gifted Veterinarian and will never take our pets anywhere else. We live 45 minutes away and drive there for the most routine things for our kitties. Also, this little kitten we brought home had a severe eye infection in one eye. Dr. Nunez' care kept the infection to only the one eye. Sadly, it was too late to save his one eye, but Baron the Pirate kitty still sees great with his other eye! Back in May of 2006 my husband and I found a cat laying almost lifeless on the side of the road. We decided to take this cat in for treatment and were advised by the local veterinarian, that he would never be able to use the litter box like a normal cat. It seems that as a result of his injuries, he was paralyzed in that region. However, he functioned normally in every other way. The dr. advised euthanising. My husband and I called Dr. Nunez whose office is 2 and half hours away from us for advise. He said ""bring him to me and I will do a stem cell implant, in the hopes of regenerating cells in the region of his paralysis."" so we did, he amputated the tail which was lifeless and did the transplant. Although he knew the chances were slim, he opted on the side of hope......my kind of guy! Unfortunately, the transplant was not successful. However, he advised us on how to care for this animal rather than opt to end his life. We ended up keeping ""Cato"" for several years, he lived as close to a normal and happy life as possible. Through out Cato's time with us, we found it challenging to board him w/ local vets. because he needed to have his bladder expressed several times daily to keep from getting infected or worse eruption. Most vets found this to be more work than it was worth. Dr. Nunez however, always accepted Cato with open arms and boarded him every time we needed it. I guess its a testament within itself to say we were willing to drive 2 1/2 hours to see him and use his facilities (which by the way are state of the art, clean and welcoming), he is CLEARLY worth the drive. I've never met a more focused, professional yet loving, caring and kinder soul. He is an earth loving and free spirit a man with a mission and a clear love for life, music and his profession. I have been to many vets with many different animals. Animal Hospital at Baldwin Park is now my vet for these 3 reasons. First they actually know how to clean! I got a tour of the kennel when I went in for my cat's appointment (she was having problems with her ears) and it was clean and smelled great. All of the animals there looked like they were comfortable and the dogs were wagging their tails and coming up to the cage door to say hello when I walked by. Second, they gave me an estimate up front for her ears and explained their recommendations in laymens terms. The doctor did a very gentle, thorough exam (he could tell how scared she was) then answered all my questions and asked me if he addressed all of my concerns before leaving the exam room. The tech was very friendly and knowledgeable of the doctor's orders. Finally, and most important to me, this is the only vet where my cat didn't have a panic attack when we walked in the front door for her follow up visit. Her behavior around the vet and staff speaks volumes about their compassion and they way they treat their patients. If you want a clean animal hospital you can trust, with AWESOME doctors and staff, try this one!! Read Less

I have very mixed feelings about this place. My Persian cat was diagnosed with acute renal failure. He went in on Friday to the Animal Hospital at Baldwin Park and I was told that only 10% of his kidneys were working. I was told that if I sent him to the Emergency Vet clinic over the weekend and if he made it through the weekend then he had a good chance of living. The Emergency Vet clinic told me that according to his tests he did not have a chance of living and that I should euthanize him. That was the last thing I wanted to do and was willing to do whatever I could do to save his life. I discussed this with the doctor at the Animal Hospital at Baldwin Park and he suggested a transfusion and other treatments. I mentioned that I had done hours of research on the internet and according to my research it said that cats with end stage renal failure have no chance of living. He said you can't always go by the book and there was hope. He said that my cat could possibly make it and he would be a happy cat with daily treatment. I really got my hopes up but received a call the next day that my cat had passed away. I'm very upset because my total cost of vet bills totals over $3500. I think he should of been honest with me and upfront and told me that my cat wasn't going to make it. Maybe he believed that he could save his life. I'll never know I guess. All I know is that my cat is gone and I'm stuck with outrageous bills. Hollistic and alternative doesn't always save a pets life and can cost you an arm and a leg. I suggest doing a lot of research before spending thousands to this vet clinic. Read Less
