Avalon Family Vet

Orlando, Florida
General Info
Avalon Family Vet in Orlando bases its veterinary services on transparency and relationship-building to provide unwavering support to Florida's pet owners. Pet owners often begin their veterinary visits by recounting narratives where they observe their animals displaying reduced movement, meal avoidance, frequent scratching, or altered behaviors. Veterinarians initiate their examinations by assessing body weight trends alongside joint movement and oral health while also checking respiratory rhythms and coat condition before observing behavioral patterns. Every discovery undergoes documentation and discussion to provide owners with clear distinctions between normal conditions new developments and elements that might necessitate monitoring or follow-up care. Avalon Family Vet provides preventive services including vaccinations, lab testing, dental cleanings, nutritional planning, and parasite control along with chronic care support for conditions like allergies, arthritis, and metabolic issues. Every visit functions as an opportunity to address previous issues while adjusting wellness objectives and presenting new care methods tailored to age breed and home setting which could involve lifestyle adjustments seasonal needs or behavioral changes. Owners depart carrying actionable summaries that include treatment plans symptom watchlists follow-up timeframes and access to digital records or medication tips. Families with hectic timetables who care for senior pets or numerous animals can request modified pacing telemedicine when available and logs to maintain organization between visits. Avalon Family Vet delivers dependable veterinary services throughout Orlando and Florida by maintaining consistent care approaches for all concerns including minor adjustments and significant life stage transitions.

Bad information and negligent treatment from thi office! A month ago, my new kitten tested positive for giardia parasite. Vet said it was something he could fight off on his own and prescribed fortiflora probiotics for his diarrhea. Today I took him to a different vet because his diarrhea has gotten worse. I learned that giardia causes diarrhea and can be passed to other cats and humans. Avalon vet was aware of other cats in the house. Now I have to treat all 4 cats instead of just the 1. Do not go to Avalon vet! The only treatment they have ever recommended for any of my cats with digestive/poop issues is give them a probiotic! Shey’s vet near the Tijuana Flats on Avalon Blvd is great! They opened recently and my experience there has been wonderful. Staff takes the time to explain everything and the prices are very reasonable. Read Less

Started taking a new puppy there for his initial vaccines and over the course of 4 visits I never once left happy. They are incredibly incompetent and generally awkward during majority of interactions. They like to waste a lot of time, I spent over an hour in an exam room twice for my dog to receive shots that took less than 5 minutes while they argued with another customer over the phone or had personal conversations in the hallway. Really frustrating experiences, I wont be back. Read Less

I’ve generally enjoyed the staff, they are very nice. BUT, in Feb. 2018 the wrong prescription was issued to my pet, which I gave him for a period of time. The prescription was meant for dogs BTW, not cats- I have a cat. The only reason this was caught was because I was having trouble making him eat it, and he was throwing up after eating it. I called the office and discussed the problem and the pill. Soon after I got a call and I was told they accidentally gave me the wrong medication so I had to bring him in for a checkup. The checkup was free, however, if the vet, rather than the office manager, filled or at least reviewed what was dispensed, this never would’ve happened. Good thing I called. Needless to say, we’ve switched vets as of the day of this posting. This is essentially like a human going to their pharmacy, getting the wrong script, getting ill, and finding out this all was a result of the employee who runs the photo department filling it without consulting the pharmacist. This, unfortunately, was a sad but 100% preventable situation. Read Less

I called avalon vet on Christmas Eve because they were open. They didn’t have any appointments. I had to take my dog to the veterinarian emergency clinic in Waterford, which was an excellent experience. They prescribed my dog a medication that wasn’t necessarily an emergency vet Med so I could not get it there and needed to get it at a regular vet. I called Avalon because they were open and asked even though I’m not a customer if they have this medication on site and they told me they did. When asked if they could please make an exception and allow me to pick up this medication the girl at the front desk (zee) was very non compassionate. I wanted to see if there was something she could do to help me. Since it’s Christmas eve all vets are closed today and tomorrow and my dog couldn’t start the medication until Tuesday. I asked if there was anything she could do to try to help me and if there’s any thing I can do to better the situation so she can get me what I needed and she and she point blank told me no without an attempt to even ask the vet. Very politely ask her if she would at least ask Dr. Andrews if he can make this exception for me to pick up this mad if I brought the medical records and she said sorry that’s not our policy. So take your dogs to east orange animal hospital where they really care about you and your pets unlike this place. Read Less

For years while our pets were young, all was well, their yearly checkups were done and we took very good care of them. When our pets were seen by Dr Mike, we felt comfortable and he the Doctor was very caring, knowledgeable and professional. Then we allowed a Dr Carlos (no longer there) and a Dr. Jen to see our pets. Dr Jen was a horrible experience . I could never set foot or look at that office ever again. One of my pets was not examined on his yearly visits, the doctor did not even touch him, a year later it was too too late, he had to be put to sleep. All of my pets have lived good lives and died peacefully in our home, we attribute that to good vets and our joint care, except one of our precious one, that was taken to Avalon and Vets there at that time were not very caring, he had to be put to sleep. I am a real customer and Dr. Langton saved my dog. You have to understand how hard this profession is before you can give a crappy review because you sat in the waiting room for a little longer than you cared too. This is not McDonalds! It takes time to thoroughly diagnose an unhealthy animal. I was lucky enough to see the process and I have a new outlook about veterinary care. Dr. Langton reviewed every resource possible to make the correct diagnosis to my Hannah. If he had not, she surely would be gone. Thank you! One more thing. Look at jperjunk's reviews. He has only given one star on his other reviews as well. Must be a miserable person... And no I am not a family friend. I am an actual client and will stay so. Read Less

Not worth the money... Took my dog for check up, they took my dog inside a room while I had to wait outside. Didn't know or see what kind of examination was being done on my dog or who was the Vet attending to him. Just five minutes later they brought my dog out; it was then when I met the Vet who told me he had a joint problem, gave me pills and charged me $200. Service provided was as if they were in a hurry to get the money and send me off or as if they didn't feel like working; and there were no other customers in the office. It was obvious the dog was not thoroughly examined (which they should' have done considering the money they charge).. Very disappointed. Would not recommend going here. I wonder if those giving this place a 5 star rating are just friends of those who work at this place. Read Less

I can't say enough good things about Avalon Vet Clinic. My four dogs have all been there numerous times for their regular check-ups, vaccines, and vet care. One of my Whippets had to have a big surgery over a year ago, and Dr. Mike took great care of him. After his surgery, I received several follow-up calls checking on my Whippet. I truly believe the staff cares about my dogs. My Greyhound had to go today for a laceration, and as always, the staff at Avalon Vet Clinic gave her the best care. We've moved around, and this is, by far, the best vet we have ever had. I fully trust them with my four dogs! Read Less

Incompetent staff. My first and only appointment there, the receptionist did not remember scheduling my appointment so the staff kept asking if I had indeed made one at that time.I assume that the reason we had to wait so long was because she's forgotten to pencil mine in. Because it was my first time, there was paperwork that needed it to be filled out, it took the receptionist 20 minutes to give me that to complete. Then, I overheard the receptionist having to call back a family that had just left because she only gave them half of the prescription and needed them to return, AND pay again, for the additional medicine SHE forgot to give them. I will never go to back. The only plus is the location for those in Avalon. Otherwise, go to a clinic with a more competent staff. Read Less

Read Less

Took over an hour before anyone came into our room, this after waiting 20 minutes to be put into a room. They gave my puppy adult medication which ended up hurting him really badly and we are now having to medicate the symptoms caused by the medicine they gave him. They also never even tried to schedule a follow up to make sure he was okay. Never going here again.

Read Less

Dr Mike is a very caring person. I reccomend this clinic to anyone and everyone. They go above and beyond for the care of any animal brought here. Even if it means losing money on their part. I brought a stray in that had been hit by a car and even though I had no money whatsoever, Dr Mike took care of that dog till the very end out of his own pocket. Great man. Great people. Great place to trust your pets lives with.Read Less
