Underhill Animal Hospital

I would never recommend this vet to anyone. If I could, I would rate it zero stars. I was previously a customer who would board my dog an average of one weekend a month but my most recent experience was unbelievable. The day I picked her up, I paid for a bath and dremeled nails. Two hours after spending the evening at home, I started to notice she wasn't her hyper, energetic self and she wouldn't stop licking her paw. That's when I checked and there was a large piece of her paw pad missing. I understand accidents happen and I wouldn't have such a negative opinion if I had been notified upon picking her up that she got hurt, mind you, the amount of skin missing was evident that she had to have bleed quiet a bit. I knew she didn't get hurt within the short time between picking her up and noticing the wound so I immediately took a picture and called/emailed the vet. After assessing her paw and all of her nails, I suspect the person who dremeled her nails slipped and accidentally nicked her paw pad as it is directly next to one of her nails. I discussed this with one of the managers and she immediately sided with her employees, saying her kennel staff clipped her nails rather than drilling them, although I paid for dremel and they noted in my records: "kennel staff drilled them short." It does not take a genius to tell if a large dog's nails were clipped and they in fact weren't. After bringing my dog back in to prove her nails were dremeled, it resulted in no resolution.  The manager never got back to me to apologize or provide more insight as her kennel staff clearly lied to cover their accident. This leads me to wonder what else can these kennel staff employees get away with while taking care of your animal?!? I strongly advise to never leave your pet in their care as who knows what else they can try to sweep under the rug. Read Less

I love this vet hospital. They are always very accommodating with my schedule - and because they have several vets, they always have open appointments - at least as long as I have been going. Their staff is friendly, and they really dont try and up-sell you on services. I have 2 old dogs, and I'm on a budget and I never feel pushed to do something that I might not be able to afford. They always give me ways I can help and care for my pups, without breaking the bank. Facilities are clean, and again, they are always kind to me and my babies! I can't begin to tell you how thankful I am to have found these amazing people, or how appreciative I am of how devoted they are to their patients! We have a fear-aggressive dog and it's very hard for me to bring him to the vet. It's stressful on him, and sometimes embarrassing for me.The staff here is SO accommodating. Not just their awesome availability, but that they are equipped to handle dogs like Oliver, and work extremely hard to minimize the amount of stress visits can put on him. Every single staff member is so courteous, kind, incredibly knowledgable, and are helping Oliver with his day-to-day health as well as his mental health. I can't be more thankful. I love the treatment my dogs receive. The prices are average and the care is excellent. They make you feel cozy. There are always snacks and coffee. Everyone is kind. They have convenient hours. But, they have GOT to do something about their wait times. It makes me dread going. Most of what happens on the administration end needs to be overhauled. Sometimes I'll be there for 30 minutes to an hour before I am seen, and that's with an appointment. My dogs are anxious, so it's stressful to have to wait so long. There is often a noisy, barking dog that you are stuck listening to while you're in the waiting room for so long, and it grates on my nerves. Nobody ever apologizes for the wait or even acknowledges it. I understand that emergencies arise. But it seems like it's more a case that they just don't space out their appointments properly. I'm glad they are making money, but think about the timing. The staff in the lobby always seems to be overwhelmed with work, even if the lobby is empty. You get put on hold for long periods of time when you call. Hire another person to help! But if you need to speak to a doctor or tech they are good about making sure someone contacts you in a reasonable amount of time. Read Less

The customer service is pretty awful here! The staff, with the exception of Chris, could car less. The doctors are fairly good, though. I told them I was leaving the practice, and came to pick up my dog’s records- no one bothered to ask why, or seemed to care that I was unhappy. So sad! Read Less

They removed 3 cysts from Kilo. They didn’t pull the stitches tight enough. Cysts were removed last Friday, last Saturday the stitches on his back came loose and the wound opened up. I called them they said go to ER vet. So Deland Animal Hospital did a great job closing up the gash in his back. Called Underhill on Monday they said it was Kilo’s fault. Now 8 days later the scab falls off his forehead and again it is very clear the stitches weren’t pulled tight because there is a huge gash in his head. The stitches are there but do not close his skin. Underhill Animal Hospital got their money but they won’t do anything to fix this. Kilo’s health is no concern of theres. Read Less

I don’t even know where to start, Trinity helped us out when our dog got hit by a car 2 weeks ago. She made us feel so at ease taking care of our dog champ, making sure he had all the medicine he needs and getting the x rays done to make sure things weren’t worse then expected. He is doing amazing and started getting up by himself now. I am so great-full for the staff at Underhill animal hospital and everything they have done for us you guys are amazing and now will be our permit vet for our loving furry babies. Dr. Hill is the kindest and most knowledgeable veterinarian I have ever seen in the many years with the many animals I have loved. He is the only Doctor that doesn't try and sell you on all the treatments now offered for animals. He does what is best for your animal and that's what everyone is looking for. I had such a great experience today at underhill animal hospital! I went to semoran pet hospital initially for an emergency with my Yorkie. After waiting an hour they said they would not take any more walk ins despite it being an emergency. I called underhill animal hospital and Im glad I did. They took her right away and made me feel like they cared and made me feel welcomed. I loved the vet , Dr. hill, he was very informative and caring. I rushed my puppy here after she was hurt from a dog biting her. The staff and doctors that took care of my baby were incredible. They not only did everything to make sure she had a full recovery, they also made sure I was taken care of. I would absolutely recommend anyone taking there pet here. I am forever grateful. Disorganized, chaotic and long waits. I went in for a consultation with an appointment at 9:30. At 10:15 I had to leave because I still wasn't taken back and I had an appointment at 11. It was disappointing because Chris, over the phone, seemed amazing. But Chris wasn't there in the morning, so everyone seemed frazzled and unhappy. I get it was a Monday and they had a busy day, but the waiting room looked like an ER waiting room filled with people asking when their appointment would be. Amazing! I took my sugar glider here to be neutered. Not only are they the best price in Florida for neutering sugar gliders, the surgery techs and staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. Amazing vet! From someone that has only been to them twice! Just moved back to town and needed them immediately for my dog and cat.. Someone below complained about not being able to get a call answered or an appointment, but sadly, do not believe that... Not to mention, they have walk in service.. I wouldn't take my sweet Cricket anywhere else. I have brought both dogs here since they were puppies. They took care of my sweet Buttars at the end of his battle with lymphoma  and continue to take such amazing care of Cricket. The doctors here are amazing and they genuinely love their patients. Been a client here for about two years now. The doctors are very knowledgeable for domestic pets - excellent bar none for working dogs and what they don't know they will gladly outsource you to specialists for more detailed findings. The front desk staff are very nice and the technicians are as well. I subtracted one star for the wait time which is always a minimum of 30 minutes (MINIMALLY) even if you're just dropping off or even picking up from boarding! This is the most time I've ever spent in a clinic, as far as wait times go. They seriously need to work on that. They are also more expensive than most veterinarians in the area; though not overpriced enough for me to bother trying to find a new vet, yet. As I mentioned, they are good! Detracted a second star because I requested over the phone for the veterinarian on staff who purportedly works with exotic animals to schedule a nail trim for my bearded dragon. Her response was that they would be willing to do it this one time but not again because it was bad for their health. That told me all I needed to know about their level of knowledge with exotics so I went ahead and skipped bringing my dragon here! It definitely pays to know who you are taking your pet to when it's an exotic animal and has special needs as such. I definitely would NOT  recommend this clinic for exotics. I have taken my dog here for the last few years. I have seen several vets and have loved each and every one. They are timely, professional, relatable and I trust them completely. They are not out to get extra money for tests that may not be necessary (for example) like I have experienced with other places in Orlando. They genuinely have their clients best interests in mind. I have taken my dogs, cat, and classroom rat to see pretty much all of the vets at Lake Underhill and have been VERY pleased. All of the vets have been very helpful and know their stuff. Came as a new walk in for my dog.  And once I came to the counter the front desk employee saw the cut and blood on my dog she immediately took my dog out of my arms and took care of what needed to be done w the pet first.   I have to say.  The service here was great from the front desk to the DR in charge of my pet.  Very informative on what needed to be done and costAlso payment plans as well :)Affordable and place is clean and spacious.   Glad I found this placeif needed ... I have been going to Underhill Animal Hospital for years. They have great veterinarians and the staff is always graceful and helpful. I have a lot of animals and they all are healthy because I take them there.They provide anything you need from senior pets to special pet care plans. I must say that Dr. Hill is the best veterinarian in Orlando. I trust him 100% . My doggie has had too many health issues & if it weren't for Dr. Hill, I doubt he'd be alive! Read Less

I took my puppy in yesterday for the first sick visit and Dr Hill was great! Got her in quick, assessed her and filled the medications she needed faster than I had expected! I used to love them until they tried to treat my dogs eye injuries themselves without referring me to a dog opthamalogist as a result my dog is completely blind in one eye and partially blind in his right eye ((thanks to a opthamalogist and $1811 surgery)) i could avoided all of this and saved me money on the office visits and maybe saved gizzys eye ...but the front office staff and techs were always nice and drs too just wish they would of referred us out.. Wonderful veterinarian office.  Very bright organized and clean.  Staff is always very kind and has treats for your dog or cat.  Plus there are treats for the pet owners too. Mornings have donuts and coffee.  In the afternoon there are cookies & popcorn.  We purchase our dog food from them in bulk and when we had to put our Husky down due to cancer, they were extremely sympathetic to our every need and even checked in on us several weeks after.   They helped to make the process as easy as possible and took care of guiding us thru the memorial process.  We continue to take all of our pets to them and refer anyone we can. My dog was not a patient at Underhill Animal Hospital, however he was in distress, and his regular vets office was closing in 10 mins and wouldn't wait. A friend called her vet, which is Underhill, and they said bring him! Drove crosstown, arrived at around 6:20PM and met us at the car to help with him, took him back right away. Everyone, from the front desk, to vet tech to doctor was very caring. Sadly, we lost him, there was nothing that could be done. They didn't care how late they were there, their concern was for me and my dog. That is the way a vet hospital should be!! When we get another dog, they will be our vet, no matter how far!!! The staff is friendly & knowledgeable. Dr. Wolf is amazing and the techs are great also. They answer all of your questions - put up (nicely) with me self diagnosing my new dog that was a stray (& Dr Wolf actually got the diagnosis correct, where I had not). They are also affordable! It does not cost me more to take Oliver to the vet than it does for me to go to the doctor. I cannot say that about my last vet. I'm really happy with the entire experience & have had to go several times getting Oliver's health back on track. Read Less

Anyone that says anything about Janet the groomer is crazy. My dogs have been going to her for over 5 years and nothing but perfect results. When my one dog was on medication she documented the times he went out. There's no one else I will take my dogs too and we moved from Orlando to Celebration. Janet is second to none and she will be the only one to groom my dogs. Read Less

I've had really great and really not so great experiences here. My papillon was full of tumors and they were able to help her surgically, and got most of them out, and she is much better now. But then I took our Jack Russell in because she was unsteady and lethargic, and they ran tests and gave me prescriptions that we had to force the dog to take, and she deteriorated for a week until I brought her back in and she was euthanized. Almost $400 for the first visit, and close to $300 for the final visit. The day we were going to pick up the ashes, our cat was breathing heavy and feeling poorly. We took her in and asked the vet on duty to PLEASE be straight with us, and if this was something where she would have a bad quality of life, to tell us now, so we could make a responsible decision. She was given bloodwork, an xray, and determined to be asthmatic, and we were assured that this would be manageable with monthly injections. They kept her overnight but she didn't improve enough, and they kept her another day. I picked her up on Wednesday and paid $800 for her care, and brought her home. She immediately started breathing heavily, crying, and drooling. I rushed her back and was told by a tech that they would keep her overnight and that the vet would talk to me tomorrow. I said that I didn't have that kind of money, and she said, "I'll work with you", but I insisted to talk to a vet immediately. This vet told me that it is "common" in asthmatic cats for them to require extensive care, possibly daily medications, breathing treatments, etc., and completely countered what the other vet had said. And then I had to make the decision to not let her suffer. For $800, I got an hour with my cat and then for another $300, I get to pick up a pretty box to remember her by. When I ask you to be straight with me, I don't care how hard it is. Tell me the truth. We love our pets, but what we got on these last two visits? It wasn't kindness. It was a shake down for money we will be paying off for the next year and half, if not longer. And we didn't get any quality time with our pets for that investment. I had initially clicked three stars, but I can't even go that high now. I'm only grateful you could save my papillon. I feel betrayed by the other experiences. I'm not happy that 2 stars says "fair", because this has not been fair. Not even a little bit. Please do not send the condolence card. I don't want it.Read Less

They care for another cat of mine with a chronic illness, my middle aged cat, and my recently rescued dog. During each and every visit, my beloved pets are treated with love and respect. My dog means the world to me and her health is my #1 concern. This hospital is the best, they take their time examining my dog. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Every time I call to make an appointment or walk-in with questions the staff is so friendly and welcoming. From the Front Desk staff to the Techs and the Doctors---everyone is helpful and accommodating. My dog is very anxious and her doctors have been caring and attentive to her needs. They have recommended several options for her & I trust them completely. They're affordable, convenient, and attend to their customers as soon as they are available! The doctors, techs, and kennel staff here are great. They have always treated my dogs as family and I have never had to wait very long even when just dropping in. I often board our dog here and I am happy to do so as I know the staff really seem to enjoy having him. Also of note is that this is the preferred hospital for nearly every law enforcement agency in the county. For me it adds to the credibility that they are the best practice in the area. Read Less

Being new to the area I needed to establish both a doctor for me and a vet for my dogs and cat. I was referred to Dr. Hill at Underhill Animal Hospital while telling someone about a problem I was having with one of my dogs. When I went to the office I found the best animal hospital that I have ever encountered in all my years dealing with vets (I am a senior citizen). Not only do they treat animals that are ill in a knowing, caring and efficient manner there is a groomer on staff so that my dogs can be groomed at the say place that their vet is so that if a problem occurs they can be taken care of immediately. I just wish that I could find a doctor that is as good as Underhill Animal Hospital to take care of me. Read Less

I absolutely love Lake Underhill Animal Hospital! The facility is impressive and the staff is extremely kind, caring and knowledgeable! I have 2 very curious dogs and for all of my weird and unusual pet owing experiences I have encountered with my pups I can trust that my babies will be properly diagnosed and treated accordingly. I love the doctors! They aren't pushy with products but I have found any medical suggestions offered to be very helpful. Not the most inexpensive but definitely fair priced. They also have a loyalty program and a referral bonus. This Animal Hospital is my go to for annual visits and emergency assistance; however they are also super accessible via phone for my "quick questions" that happen more often than not.Read Less

I spent thousands of dollars at one particular vet concerned about my pup. Every summer she had a rash on her belly and her pup paws. In winter she had black junk in her ears and she gained a lot of weight. I was running her, using creams and oral meds that my vet recommended and after a year of countless visits, I decided to do my own research as well as researching a new vet which brought me to Lake Underhill Animal Hospital. In one visit, the doctor diagnosed Bailey with hypothyroid & recommended a specific dog food because it was apparent she had skin allergies. Two years later, Bailey is thriving and I am the happiest pup mom on the planet. I love this vet and even as I have moved across town, I will still go there because it is what is best for my dog.
