I have a ten-year old German Shepherd dog which has had ear infections for almost 2 years that’s why my husband and I have gone to different veterinaries. My dog also doesn’t like anyone to touch his ear so he needs muzzle and a professional pet behaviorist. We haven’t had any good experiences with other veterans and unfortunately some of them were not educated enough to identify my dog’s problems and they kept trying different expensive treatments and experiments which did not work out. They just charged us top dollars and didn’t pay attention to our pet. To make a long story short, we got disappointed and started to believe that our dog ( Odin) wouldn’t get better. Luckily our neighbor suggested we should visit University Animal Hospital as a last resort. The vet ( Dr. Lisa Parker) saw Odin and gave us an ear ointment! She also prescribed Odin a new diet and guess what happened?! unbelievably Odin’s problem was solved after several days! Yes!!!! She is the best vet ever! God bless her and her professional team! Great staff and service. The vets are very attentive too. They all took good care of my first dog from day one until her last day (13 yrs). I went back to them after I got another puppy 2yrs later. I came across this hospital after researching on google and I stumbled upon a Groupon so since I read a lot of positive reviews and would like to save some money (struggling college student over here) I decided to make an appointment! I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived since the wait time was close to none and the front desk receptionists were sweet and friendly! They greeted me right away which gave me a piece of mind for my fur baby, Yuki! Besides the great service, ...the hospital is very spacious, organized, and clean. There was no bad smells which is surprising since it is an animal hospital. During Yuki's exam, I met Dr. Sawyer's tech who was very knowledgeable about vaccines, felines, and flea prevention. Afterwards, the doctor came to examine my cat and she was gentle and provided me with suggestions that saved me money which displayed honesty and a commitment to treat what my pet actually needed at this time. We came in with our itchy pup today and the Dr. Paul checked him from head to tail. He took time to listen to us and explain any causes and possible treatments. The doctor and tech both really took time with us; we didn’t feel rushed at all. There was absolutely no selling tactics which I really appreciate. This is the best customer service I’ve gotten anywhere in general. I️ have boarded my dog here twice in the past month and they have been awesome even with me calling changing the time or day I’d be dropping him off. Dr. Privette at UAH has cared for all of our animals for more than 10 years now. (Dog and three cats- as well as several neighbor's dogs and cats) Two years ago he literally saved our dog's life when he detected a growth in the throat just by the way my dog swallowed during his yearly examination. Update: after promising to write this review they supposedly cancelled my balance. brought my dog in for treatment and though I know not intentional, made my dog's condition significantly worse on the same day. Obviously it was the wrong treatment but I know they had good intentions. However, they told me several times that day that we could come back if it got worse so we did within a few days and we were charged again for the same exam and only to be told that now we had to go see a specialist. So after I spent hundreds of dollars for a bad treatment they charged me again to tell me to go somewhere else. I don't think that's the right thing to do and i asked them politely to cancel the second charge but they won't. Hence the review. Read Less

I've been seeing Dr. Privette and the amazing vet techs and staff at UAH for well over 10 years now, so it's time I wrote a review. We've never had a bad experience here. It's clear that everyone on the staff cares deeply about animals, and they always, always, have their "patients" health and care at the heart of what they do. The staff is well organized and always friendly; they know us by name now. :)... I've only dealt with Dr. Privette, so he is the only vet I can speak about personally. Dr Privette has always been easy to talk to and work with. His knowledge (and care) is evident, and he takes time to explain everything. We've never been pushed to do tests or expensive procedures, and Dr. P is always willing to discuss options. I can't recommend this place enough. I just had to write a review... A few days ago we had to put down my cat of 15 years, and I was so nervous making the appointment. I had a terrible experience at another vet 6 years ago, so my heart was aching. But this time around, I can't praise University Animal Hospital enough. This place is perfect, the people who work there are very warm and welcoming. Once in the exam room my dog got excited with everyone that came in and they were just as excited to meet her. They were gentle with her and she loved them. The doctor was extremely helpful and answered all my questions. HIGHLY recommend this animal hospital to anyone that truly cares about their pet. Do not take your loved pets here for any sort of critical/emergency services. They call themselves a hospital but are not. Performed a surgery that was not necessary on NYE and then released dog because they wanted to close early. Dog died as a result of this surgery. More concerning is Yes unforeseen circumstances can always happen but when the vet himself Dr William Privette will not meet face to face with you to discuss what happened that is a huge red flag!! Hides behind an office administrator who gives same automated answers she is programmed to. Interesting that the Emergency Vet who had to take over immediate care has called everyday! I've been taking my dog here for two years for her regular vet visits and for boarding. The facility is very clean and the staff at the front desk are top notch. Friendly and competent. Great vet and boarding who are so helpful and nice. We've taken our dogs and cats there and the prices are very good for everything they do. They also board for under $20 per animal which is a very good deal now. We had both our dogs stay there two nights and when we picked them up they were very happy, cheery, and obviously well taken care off; my fiancee and I both were too cause it gave us an affordable break from the dogs but we were very happy to see them well taken care of from University Vet, we even got a "doggie" report card for any problems they might have seen. I was pleased with our vet's knowledge and caring for my pets. However, I do think the financial bottom line is an issue with this clinic. Certain tests were double (or more) than at other area vets. The problem with this is that, especially in this economy, not everyone has endless dollars. This means pets may not receive the care they need as their owner's pockets empty rather quickly here.
