Everyone of the nurses here shows that they love their job through their care of the patients. They also do a great job informing their owners and making me feel comfortable when making decisions. Today was my puppy's last vaccine booster appointment so he got his rabies today so for me it was like he was becoming an adult and they grow up so fast. My dog is a timid rescue and gets very anxious around other dogs and Britton reassured me that I would be able to call upon arrival and she would put me right into a room, and she DID! This goes beyond words as I have to usually schedule my appointments around the busier hours in fear of my baby Chanel getting nervous. Brandon, the vet assistant was more than friendly and helpful and picked my baby right up as if she was his own. I love that! Dr. Nicklin was more than knowledgeable about my pet's health. Britton even followed up to make sure I was satisfied with the care given after the appointment which made me feel spoiled! Thank you, Banfield, for taking such good care of my baby and me. Read Less

I recently adopted a new dog. She had been having the same symptoms of UTI that my other dog (with chronic UTI) gets so I call my primary vet to set up an appointment. They wouldn't be able to see me until 6 days after I called (called on a Saturday). So I set up a walk-in appointment with Banfield because my dog was having accidents every 20-30 minutes, which was not something I wanted to deal with for nearly a week (for obvious reason). After getting to my appointment, I was told my bill would be $185 for a $40 general exam, urine collection, a urinalysis, and a bladder scan. I told them I wanted to hold off on the bladder scan until we ruled out UTI. I was looked at like I was crazy. We then were able to remove the urine collection from my bill because my pup had another accident in the exam room so we just took a sample from that. After the analysis, I got a call from the vet saying my pups results showed a +1 bacteria count (very light UTI) and he said he wasn't sure if it was a UTI or bacteria from the floor. I told him, either way, a bladder scan wouldn't be necessary and that i was more comfortable just doing a light round of antibiotics to be safe. Here's the best part: they quoted me $120 for a round of amoxicillin. My other dog with chronic UTI usually takes Cephalexin (costs me $30 and is a better antibiotic than amoxicillin, which I verified with the Banfield technician). $120 is absolutely outrageous! They said "oh it's because she's a larger dog so it costs more." She is 65 pounds, my other dog is 60. I told them I'd rather fill the prescription at Publix. Publix then informed me that specific antibiotic (amoxicillin clavulanate) was one of the more expensive antibiotics ($85 there) and that plain amoxicillin would be free and Cephelaxin would be about $40. Beyond that, they didn't even have the dose of the prescription Banfield gave me, only about 3x the strength. So I called Banfield and explained to them the situation and asked if I could just have them rewrite the prescription for normal amoxicillin or Cephalaxin since we weren't 100% of my dog had a definitive UTI and if she did, it denned very weak. I was told by the receptionist that the doctor would call me back with an answer. 3 calls and 3 of the same responses later, I never got a call from the doctor. Long story short: I paid $90 for a vet to tell me my dog's ears were a little dirty and she may or may not have bacteria in her pee. Side note: I wasn't even given a copy of the urinalysis nor did this $40 "physical exam" give me my dogs temperature or literally ANYTHING other than her weight (which I can do at home) and a note saying she had dirt in her ears (which was obvious because her previous owners kept her outside and I had gotten her the day previous to her appointment). OH AND: under her exam findings, it says her urinary exam was NORMAL. So, is this "exam" just a blaisé checklist that isn't actually looked into or...? Basically, I'm pretty upset about wasting $90 and not getting anything out of this visit nor getting the common decency of a return phone call. Read Less

My dog had been a part of their wellness plan since she was a puppy, including being spayed, routine shots, etc. In April 2016, I brought her to them to get an evaluation for a mass removal in her right 'armpit', found to be benign and just a fatty mass. Due to my financial situation at the time, I put it off until recently. I had kept an eye on it weekly since then, feeling to make sure it hasn't gotten bigger. It had not noticeably grown in size since. I dropped her off at 745AM. At 1230PM, almost 5 hours later, I received a call saying they couldn't perform the surgery because the mass had grown almost 2.5x the original size, which is completely and utter bullshit. Because of this, they would be unable to perform the surgery because they were understaffed. The vet was extremely rude and began arguing with me when I explained it was not possible for it to be that much larger, and the date which I brought her in. She sounded unsure of her capability to successfully and safely perform the surgery. The new estimate mirrored the supposed increase in mass size, which would cost $1300 before medications. Originally I would be receiving a reduction in price as well from using the 'dental cleaning' anesthesia, which is covered as part of the wellness plan. With the supposed increase in mass size, this somehow wasn't an option any longer. They gave her two (2) shots, trimmed her nails, and gave her a heartworm preventative medication. This apparently takes 8 hours to perform. Finally, I called to ask if she was ready for pickup and the response was "she's been ready". When we got home she drank an excessive amount of water, so I'm unsure if she had received any while there. I'm not sure if it's incompetence or greed on their end, but the vet's uncertainty in her ability alone is the main reason I will no longer be using them for my vet needs. I did give them 2 stars because they managed to not kill my dog over the past several years when it was under the direction of a competent veterinarian. Read Less

Absolute nightmare. My partner and I signed up our pup for one of their plans and everything seemed great. Then my partner who was paying for it with his card got a new card and banfield called me and let us know the monthly bills were not going through. We updated and everything was fine. A couple months later my partner had his wallet and phone stolen and so the monthly payments were not going through again without my knowledge. They attempted to call him but not me so I never got the message and he had a different number now. I got a notice that the bill was sent to collections. Why didn't you guys call me like you did the first time!? I just don't understand how one time you call me then the second time you make no attempt to contact at least both numbers on file. When I called and explained to them the situation and said we would love to continue I the program and we are willing to pay they said there was nothing they could do. Now we have to pay the rest of our 6 month program and get no services. Absolutely terrible company! Read Less

INSANELY OVERPRICED. I will be reporting this animal hospital to the Better Business Bureau for overcharging customers who are looking to help their pets. These inconsiderate, money-grubbing, greedy dolts charged me $450 for IV fluids for my cat who was hit by a car and then referred me to a location that stated it would cost $1,200-$2,500 PER NIGHT to keep her and take care of her!Needless to say, I took her home instead... She wasn't doing well at home after a few days and seemed dehydrated, so I instead took her to Aloma Jancy Animal Hospital where they once again did IV fluids AND antibiotics this time for $90 total.ONCE AGAIN: $450 at Banfield and $90 at Aloma Jancy!!! It is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS that these pricks would charge 5x more for the same treatment (actually less bc no antibiotics)!!! They even had the nerve to suggest I might need to put down my cat. She was just dehydrated and had a broken jaw!! She will be getting an entire surgery on her poor little jaw for the same price that Banfield charged me to only give her IV fluids.Banfield, you should be ashamed of yourself for taking advantage of loving pet owners who just want to make their pets better. You take advantage of customers in vulnerable states and offer your credit line so we can pay you for doing absolutely fucking nothing.BANFIELD SHOULD BE SUED FOR FINANCIAL ABUSE OF ITS CUSTOMERS AND FOR FORCING ITS CUSTOMERS TO PUT DOWN THEIR PETS OR ENTER BANKRUPTCY DUE TO EXTREME AND UNNECESSARY MONETARY STRESS!Go to hell, Banfield. This business cares more about making money than it does taking care of animals. Read Less

I have been going to Banfield Animal Hospital since we got our addition, April a black lab mix, to our family when she was 8 weeks old. We have taken her to the Oviedo Banfield Hospital faithfully and gladly paid the monthly well care plan. Luckily she has always been healthy. After 2 1/2 years unfortunately she did get sick. It was on a weekend and I called to get her in as she was so sick she could not even move. (She is over 100lbs). My husband who was out of town and is listed as an owner with Banfield and also has a care credit account for our major vet bills for just in case. Well just in case came and they would not accept the care credit payment even though I had the authorization and he was willing to call in and verify it was ok to use. Because he would not physically be in town until Monday an it was a Saturday they would not see her because he could not physically sign the receipt. They would not even let me make a payment plan until my husband could get back in town, Their solution was to let my April suffer and wait until Monday. I do not believe they have the best interest of the animals at all. How cruel to tell me to have her wait until Monday. If you were so sick and couldn't move and was throwing up uncontrollably would you wait 3 days to go to your doctor? I decided to go to another caring vet hospital, Tuskawilla Animal Hospital. They were wonderful! They allowed me to use the care credit with my husband's approval over the phone and April is all better. I WILL NEVER USE BANFIELD EVER AGAIN. How uncaring and money hungry can you be to allow a patient of 2.5 years on a well care program to wait 3 days being sick!!!! Read Less

I've had both really good experiences and 1 horrible experience here. Let's start with the bad so we can end on a good note. One of my first experiences with this location was with our dog Tink. I want to say about 2 years ago maybe more. I cannot remember the name of the doctor that did this but she is no longer there from my observations. My pup was pooping blood and she had an x-ray done. The doctor said she saw something in her stomach or intestines that was causing the bleeding. Turns out after the surgery that there was nothing there. The Doctor that approached us afterward explained that in her opinion there was no need for the surgery and that she was sorry the other doctor put our pup through the unnecessary surgery. In the end we had to pay for the unnecessary surgery... Moving on... Dr. Nicklin is the only reason we kept coming back. After she explained to us about our pup Tink we trusted her completely and have never been steered wrong! Dr. Nicklin not only cares about your companions but actually listens to everything you have to say! She doesn't suggest a bunch of unnecessary screenings or prescribe unnecessary meds. For us she was our saving grace with oviedo banfield! She is extremely understanding, knowledgeable, and genuinely loves to help your companions! If I were to rate her as a veterinarian I would give her a 20/10. I have never had a Dr. Who was so honest and trusting as her. I will be sad to move out of this area and have to find another Dr down in the Tampa area! We are seriously considering driving from Tampa to the oviedo banfield just to continue to have her as our dogs dr! Thank you Dr. Nicklin!!! Read Less

We have a lot of grass and open space behind our house, and it's great to see that our dogs have finally found some relief. Better yet that it doubles for heart worm medication as well. This Banfield is located in the Petsmart in Oviedo. From what I've learned during my time there, this location is operated a bit differently than the other locations.I should premise this by stating that I am an informed consumer. I do not just buy into what someone tells me without asking questions, car dealerships dislike me. When I bring my dog in, I am quick to ask questions abou necessity etc. I am on the wellness plan because after years of being on pet insurance I realized that I was paying way more out of pocket for things like xrays and teeth cleaning for my dog, who needs that done every 6 months (small breed dog). How I justified my decision to be with Banfield, I used to be with VCA Animal Hospitals and with the poor economy I was finding that they were cutting back costs my reducing labor and how shots were distributed (ie, instead of a 3 year rabies, they only offered 1 year and would try to claim 3 year rabies shots didn't exist.... they do). Then I had to bring my dog in for a teeth cleaning and was quoted almost $500; I got the break down of the costs and was still stunned since my pet insurance almost covered none of it. This is when I chose Banfield and their wellness program -- my dog is young and not injury prone, so just ensuring he was up to date with shots and getting teeth cleanings and other check ups was all I wanted. I also have friends that talked many great things about the vets at this Banfield location and how they were attentive and would recall things about their long-term patients (such as my boyfriends dog who hates cages and has always had a broken tooth). On the negative side, I've seen wait time get a little out of hand. This is attributed to poor handling of the walk-ins versus appointment setters. Also, it sometimes feels like you have to push for somethings, like not leaving your dog for a couple of hours. On the positive, the vets and their assistants are very patient and helpful/knowledgeable. They work with you to figure out what you want, and even the dogs feel very safe/comfy around the vets (the same wasn't true for my vet at VCA and my dog). So, again, be an informed consumer and ask friends about costs and overall experiences with a vet. When you pick your doctor, you tend to be a informed consumer, the same should be true for your vet as well. Maybe this Banfield is the one for you, maybe not, it's all a matter of how you prefer your experience to be. Read Less

Read Less

Wonderful experience! From the time we were checked in to the time we left, everyone was friendly, prompt, and extremely caring. Dr Nicklin saw our puppy for the first time. She was great. Gave us a lot of information to keep her safe. We signed up for the puppy wellness program. This is a good value compared to some of the other vets I called. I felt the level of care given was excellent.

Nicklin!!! Read Less

Really great with our dogs. They love the pets, so it's more than a job. They also have the ONLY flea medication that we have found works in FL. We have a lot of grass and open space behind our house, and it's great to see that our dogs have finally found some relief. Better yet that it doubles for heart worm medication as well. Weekends are insanely busy, so if you can work your schedule out during M-Tu, you'll have a better wait experience. I would definitely recommend bringing your dog in. Read Less

Read Less
