My dog had been a part of their wellness plan since she was a puppy, including being spayed, routine shots, etc. In April 2016, I brought her to them to get an evaluation for a mass removal in her right 'armpit', found to be benign and just a fatty mass. Due to my financial situation at the time, I put it off until recently.
I had kept an eye on it weekly since then, feeling to make sure it hasn't gotten bigger. It had not noticeably grown in size since. I dropped her off at 745AM. At 1230PM, almost 5 hours later, I received a call saying they couldn't perform the surgery because the mass had grown almost 2.5x the original size, which is completely and utter bullshit. Because of this, they would be unable to perform the surgery because they were understaffed. The vet was extremely rude and began arguing with me when I explained it was not possible for it to be that much larger, and the date which I brought her in. She sounded unsure of her capability to successfully and safely perform the surgery.
The new estimate mirrored the supposed increase in mass size, which would cost $1300 before medications. Originally I would be receiving a reduction in price as well from using the 'dental cleaning' anesthesia, which is covered as part of the wellness plan. With the supposed increase in mass size, this somehow wasn't an option any longer.
They gave her two (2) shots, trimmed her nails, and gave her a heartworm preventative medication. This apparently takes 8 hours to perform. Finally, I called to ask if she was ready for pickup and the response was "she's been ready". When we got home she drank an excessive amount of water, so I'm unsure if she had received any while there.
I'm not sure if it's incompetence or greed on their end, but the vet's uncertainty in her ability alone is the main reason I will no longer be using them for my vet needs. I did give them 2 stars because they managed to not kill my dog over the past several years when it was under the direction of a competent veterinarian. Read Less
