I was transferred overnight to this facility after my dog went in shaking uncontrollably to another emergency hospital that didn’t offer 24 hour care. I told them that this has happened in the past and it was muscle spasms and they insisted it couldn’t be that. They asked me about 6x if there was a possibility that she had gotten into marijuana and I replied no and they kept pushing the issue. Then they call and say it’s toxicity caused from THC in the dogs system and had to do a activated charcoal treatment and iv for 12 hours. They release my dog back the next day and she starts having the same symptoms as before so I rushed her back in and then they say this time she has a disc issue and muscle spasms after they finally examined her legs which why they didn’t test her reflexes during the first exam when I paid $85 for an exam is beyond me especially after I mentioned she had these issues with her back previously. They give my dog a steroid shot and pain meds and yet another bill. At this point I feel they are treating my dog so when I call in to get more medicine for my dog because she starts shaking again once it wears off the nasty lady of the phone says oh we can’t help you, you have to see your regular vet. So the people who were in care of my dog can’t give her anymore treatment and will let her suffer when the other emergency vet is closed who is not a regular vet either! They said the other emergency vet is my actual vet and not them...umm but your both er vets and my dog was transferred to you for care I don’t have a non emergency vet as I just moved here from out of state and I would assume if a doctor treats someone that is their patient. They said they threw out the test results for the toxin screen as they don’t keep those, probably because I feel that was a scam to get more money since they kept pushing the THC thing, told me there was a buffer in the pricing although they used all the buffer of course. When I said I want the results from the testing they offered to mail what they have but won’t email the records I paid for so I guess I should wait for the mailman to take my dog to a place that actual cares about taking care of animals instead of robbing you. The lady says our owner is an attorney so good luck. Wish I would of taken my dog to someone who actually wanted to help. You should be ashamed of yourself. Read Less

DO NOT PUT YOUR PET DOWN HERE I had to take my dog here on an emergency. My dog was lethargic and very anemic and pale. I was happy that they took me in, what I was not happy with is that I asked them to place a catheter on my pet several times, I knew she was suffering and she would have to be put down, but the doctor ignored my wishes and continued to do the process without placing an Iv, being a veterinarian technician I understand some things in the field. I have been through many euthanasias at my work and all of them have been peaceful, for my pet it seemed that she did not take the time or consideration to place a catheter into my pets vein to properly give the sedative and the euthanasia solution. The vet also gave the sedative IM which I feel like took longer to set in and she never really relaxed. And when it was time to put her down which I had to go and beg the doctor to end her suffering because the sedative wasn't working, instead the vet and the tech, just rolled the back leg vein and put the solution in it. I believe this was not the best way, this traumatized me. When a pet gets a euthanasia solution it usually takes a few moments 1-2 breaths for them to pass, but my poor dog was gasping for air and it seemed like minutes went by before her heart stopped. I don't understand why this doctor did not want to place a catheter, or even explain to me why she was doing it the way she was, I felt like I had no control or say in the situation. What I wanted for my pet was a peaceful passing and to end her suffering, I feel like the doctor prolonged it. Read Less

This place was a God sent. I brought my cat Bowie in for a possible impaction and they wound up finding a heart issue that lead to his passing. The staff was so caring, giving many updates and letting us sit with him. I wasn't there for his final moments in life, but I thank God that this staff was. I know they fought hard to save him, but were loving, compassionate and caring for him when he could no longer fight. That's all you can ask for when things go so bad so quickly. The facility itself was also very clean and when it came to billing they were very realistic on their estimates, even though these cases are hard to estimate. I felt their pricing was more than fair. The receptionists, and vet staff were always very busy, but if I had any questions I felt they were very present and patient with me, making me the priority at that moment, even though they obviously had a lot to take care of. Dr.Stanton is amazing.. She saved my 8 yr. doxie Diva after she collapsed in our yard.. By the time we got her to the ER she was drooling, having trouble breathing , messed herself and was completely limp in my arms..The staff took her right away and diagnosed her with sever allergic reaction to a bug bite..I really thought I was going to lose my baby.. I woke up to a parents worse nightmare this morning. My peanut who's 8 years old now has gotten a sinus infection/ head cold to the point my son woke me saying our baby couldn't breathe and was very lethargic couldn't even walk. Honestly I thought she was going to pass before we made it to the animal hospital. Dr. Stanton and her wonderful Nurse Amber were absolutely amazing with my baby. They took her right in immed, very nurturing, caring and gentle with my baby. They also took the time to thoroughly educate me on everything. Dr. Stanton My family and I can not thank you enough for saving my babies life, your our fur babies Angels. Not To mention its Sunday I had to drive to a different county because it's very rare to find a 24 hour animal hospital and they immed got her in a room and made her their priority. At the end of the day I was expecting at least a thousand dollar invoice given the exam fee, iv fluids, meds etc it was under $200.00 total!!!! Amazed again. Thank you to you and your staff. We noticed our cat was having bladder problems when we got home from work and didn't think we should wait until the next day to take him to see someone. I looked up emergency vets in the area and called. They answered right away (another place I called, did not answer at all.) The fee is not outrageous, which is important because I was worried that after hours vets would be very expensive. They were able to give us a diagnoses and non-evasive treatment so that we could rest easy knowing he would be ok for the night (until we could get him to our regular vet the next day.) The other good thing was that since he was having bladder problems and he had a ton of fur on his butt, they were able to shave some of that off, which we really appreciated.I would recommend this vet clinic if you need after hours care. Review based only on one phone call. Heartbroken over my cat...called to get pricing on evaluation and if payment was due in full at the time of services. "Amber" on the phone quoted prices..mentioned some cheaper place in Tampa (didn't offer info)..I asked if I could bring in my cat...and in a condescending as hell manner said "only if you plan on paying in full" then hung up the phone. I've been to aa animal er previously for my dogs uti issue. This last time my dog was severely sick, not eating or walking, blood red eyes. Turns out our new foster got around her and was a carrier for an illness. AA told me she had allergies and gave me eye drops. Barely any tests were run and I didn't really feel like the staff truly cared. She severely declined the next day and I rushed her to her normal vet. She had to get two shots and antibiotics. Her red eyes were due to her being sick. I spent a decent chunk of money for someone to check her temperature and some eye drops. I won't be back after this happened. Read Less

After a few days of soft/abnormal stools and twelve hours of my dog yelping at the end of her pooping I decided it was definitely time to place a phone call. I reached out to the emergency vet and the person who answered was sympathetic and patient while I explained the symptoms and situation I was experiencing with my dog. Then she was extremely knowledgable and asked a few short questions to get a better understanding and rule out some possibilities of problems. She provided me with an array of possibilities all in which she stated sounded minor and that a regular veterinarian could handle. She managed to calm my nerves down completely. I would highly recommend going here just from this experience alone. They are very knowledgeable an compassionate as she ended the conversation with give your dog a big hug! Read Less

When my dog was attacked by another dog, our regular vet did the surgery to repair his ear.  That night our dog shook all his bandages off and was bleeding very badly.  We didn't have anything to stop the bleeding.  We brought him here and the vet tech was able to get a bandage on his ear and stop the bleeding.  She cleaned him up and returned him to us with tail wagging.  After already paying a large vet bill earlier that day, when she said there wouldn't be a charge for this visit, I was shocked.  She made a horrible day better with her kindness.  I highly recommend this ER! If you want an incompetent, abrasive and completely neglectful experience that ultimately eends with the death of your dog, this is the place for you!I had a pregnant dog that we were fostering who also had a severe case of pneumonia. The shelter that we got her from insisted that we only use approved vets and sent us there. The staff member at the desk was rude and curt and knowing this as soon as I did, I was IMMEDIATEY uncomfortable with leaving her there. My husband called to check on her last night and was informed that foster parents aren't allowed to get information, they only speak with shelter representatives, then turned around a called the director of the shelter to tell him how rude my husband was to her and that we would not allowed to come pick her up, She died there, early this morning because they didn't treat her at all. Just put her in a cage, not even a bowl of water in sight. If the system would let me, I would give stars in the negative! Read Less

My dog suffers from seizures which have been getting worse over the last year. The first time I took her here it was after she had been having multiple for 3 hrs. They were so great with coming out with stretcher getting her in and getting them to stop. So kind and kept me informed with every thing before they did it. This past time they remembered her even tho months sent by and again were kind Gave me their plan of Actin took my concerns into consideration and got her fixed up. I was able to take her home this time and they even asked me to call by a certain time and let them know how she was doing. If needed they would of called in something more for me to go get for her. Which is a big help cuz I'm currently 38 weeks pregnant with a deployed hubby. They were considerate to the fact I wouldn't be able to drive her back up after already being up ask day and having to call my brother in law for help to get her up there in the first place. I got home from dinner and not even 5 minutes after walking through the door, my older cat started vomiting. He then started shaking and was extremely lethargic. I called AA Animal ER Center (who I had called previously when I had anxiety over my cat being sick and they told me not to come in - and they were right) and they told me to bring him in. I live about 20 minutes away and my cat vomited on the way in his crate. When I got there, they immediately took him back, made him comfortable and cleaned out his crate for me - which was awesome. The vet came in and looked at him, recommended some fluids & medications to ease his stomach and have him go home. They said if he was still sick the next day, to bring him back but they thought the medications would help. I got him home, he vomited again, but was perfectly fine in the morning. They were amazing and I wouldn't hesitate to take either one of my cats there anytime. Highly recommended! Read Less

if you want to be treated with dignity and compassion, you'll have to get passed the awful elderly receptionist.  when i went to pick up my dead cat, and was trying to ask her a quick,  simple question, she waved her hands at me like i was an insect,  and told me that "SHE HAD THINGS TO DO".  she did this in front of other people,waiting to be dealt with.  it was horriby rude,disrepectful, totally lacking in any professional behavior,to say  nothing of common decency.  she was so nasty i will never go their if i unfortunately need an er vet. never. As the mom the 3 of my own 4 legged kids (2Standard Poodles & a Silky Terrier) Inhave had numerous occasions to have the privledge of having Dr Stanton and her staff take care of "MY" babies. She has always been above and beyond wonderful, and I have referred NUMEROUS other pet parents to her and they have "ALL" had exceptional experiences with Dr Stanton & her staff also. She is kind, caring, compassionate & understanding. My 1st experience was with my then foster Rottweiller "KOBI" who was very ill. I walked in and they took care of her right away, the subject of how are you going to pay me was the last thing she was worried about. Dr Stanton is a true animal lover and they are her 1st priority and at no time have I ever seen or heard ANY negative comments from all of my friends that I have sent there. On Jan 2, 2012 our little 16 year old Shih Tzu was crying and screeeching in pain.  He had been treated by his regular Vet just  6 days prior and given a Cortizone Shot and some Pain reliever. which  was working until the late night hours of Jan 1.  We decided to call the AA Animal ER at 3:30 AM, our little baby was suffering, and we knew it.  We were crying and knew the inevidible was immenent for him. We could not make him wait until his own Vet was opened.    The staff could not have been more comforting and compassionate in helping our little baby and us accept that he was going to heaven.  Of course, we miss him terribly; it's never easy losing a beloved Pet, but  we just wanted to say thank you to Dr. Stanton and, hopefully, your Pet Emergency won't have the same outcome, but I would highly recommend them as the place to go, if you ever do have an emergency, you can trust them to do what's right. I am a volunteer at a Wildlife Rescue. The Doctors and Staff are knowledgeable, caring and efficient. They have cared for a variety of Florida Wildlife and every animal was given the very best of care. As a pet owner myself, my cat became ill over the Christmas Holidays. I immediately took him to AA Animal Emergency. I was please with the care and concern for my beloved cat. Even during the holidays, there was always someone at the Clinic to care for the animals and answer all my questions. I thank the Doctors and Staff for my cats recovery. For generic animal care I'm sure they do fine. They are in no way qualified to treat exotic animals though. They not only completely misdiagnosed my pet, they gave her medication that made things worse. The depth of their incompetence amazes me. They shouldn't accept animals their not qualified to treat.
