I have lost my pet to cancer, kidney failure and fluid in her lungs, when I rescued a 7 year old cat, I was thinking of having her front nails removed. The staff there could of just charged me for the procedure and been done with me, but they took the time talked with me about the pro's and con's of this. I did not do it.. Dr. Baird has taken care of two of our dogs over the past 15+ years. She is a skilled, knowledgeable, kind and caring Vet. She makes you and your pet feel well cared for. The office is a combination of personal connections coupled with an excellent notification system reminding you of scheduled meds, treatments and upcoming appointments. She is very knowledgeable of hedgehogs (and other creatures as well). She spent a lot of time with me, listening to my questions and providing useful information. My first experience here was having to put my dog to sleep, recommended by the rescue I got him from. It was an hour's drive, but I went here anyway. That was 7 Years ago. I've moved three times since then, I still live an hour away, and I still go here. I'm going to be taking my little terrier mix Sweet Pea to see Dr. Baird and her wonderful staff today to check on her condition from an autoimmune condition she has developed. I feel compelled to tell anyone who has an animal that they love as family (as we all do) that Dr. Baird is the only vet I know who will treat your pet and you as her family. Her intelligence and knowledge is evident in her diagnostic capabilities and thoroughness. In the case of my dog Sweet Pea, in ...a difficult situation where symptoms pointed to a myriad of possible issues, Dr. Baird systematically and logically explored possibilities. She suggested only testing that she felt would give us answers, and was very judicious to suggest another test ONLY when we weren't able to get answers from a previous one. I was always given a cost estimate, and I always find the charges at Country Oaks to be very fair. The staff is wonderful there. They all love each animal, and the Vet technicians are very knowledgeable. The professionalism of Dr. Baird and the vet techs and staff is so comforting as a pet owner. Not only is Dr. Baird the best diagnostician around hands down, but she actually listens to us as clients and believes wholeheartedly in the "gut feelings" we have about our pets. One of the great vet techs was down on the floor with a death grip on my Aussie while another was trying to cut her nails. In the middle of all this chaos she said to me, "I don't like the feel of her shoulder. I think the doctor should take a look" The lump that I hadn't even been aware of was cancer. We've been very happy with the service here. They truly seem to care about our pets (and us), are very thorough and while not cheap, the prices seem fair. The place is clean and they have boarding too. I like leaving my pets in a kennel that has their own vet on site in case they have any problems while we're away. I would give this vet a negative 5 stars if I could; her and her staff are horrible people. They nickel and dime you, make you feel like a bad dog parent, and have been trained to force people into unecessary tests for their animals. They refused to put down my 12 year old boxer riddled with cancer and wanted to make her suffer through chemo. I have been taking my dogs here for years. That all ended last week. My mastiff had an ear hematoma that I had drained in November. I took her in last week for surgery as it filled up again. The quote in November was $597 and last week was $1000. I asked the reason and they said because it was bigger then last time. I have since had two vets confirm it is the same procedure even though there is a little more fluid. I refuse to take my dog to a vet that would jack a price up that much for a few more CCs of fluid. Luckily I have get getting the surgery tomorrow with antibiotics and everything at a price very close to my first quote. What really set me off about this, is when I went in the next morning to get a copy of the lab work, after the price increase, the lady asked why I cancelled the surgery and when I told her she said," oh is it too much for you?" No it is not too much, the fact about the last minute price increase if bullshit and I will take my business elsewhere. Note to staff, don't assume something is too much for your customer. My income is not your business, but doing just fine thanks! That being said, the first vet I confirmed the procedure is the same said some vets will change the price at the last minute knowing you need procedures done. This is one of those vets. Will never take my 3 dogs here again.Read Less

Dr Baird and her staff are exceptionally caring and loving toward their patients. Dr Baird is very thorough and has done everything possible to help my little dachshund. Everyone on her staff treats the animals with the love you'd give your own, but most recently Libby from her staff has been an angel to my dog. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I have two dogs, one 56 lbs and one 54lbs. My girlfriend and I both called at separate times asking about their boarding rates, and they told us it would be cheaper to board them together, reducing the price from 24$ a night to 21$ a night. She was under the same impression when she dropped them off. Fast forward to pick up time, a random 208$ charge was added for being boarded together. We were never told there would be an extra charge between two phone calls and the meeting when we dropped them off. After arguing for 45 minutes and the assistant manager not believing us and being rude, it was finally dropped. Then they brought out our dogs and food. The food container that used to be clean had a miscellaneous substance all over it, maybe dirt maybe coffee? Then we noticed our measuring cup was stolen. After looking over the paperwork, our dogs had each lost between 4-6 pounds and their ribs are now unhealthily showing. Never take your dog here.Read Less

Absolutely the worst place I have ever been to. They over charge you for everything and often do things to your dog, like clip their nails, when you didn't ask for it and make you pay for what you didn't ask for. Because of this vet, that I had taken my pug to since he was a puppy, my 8 year old pug is partially blind. When I went to my new vet, all he did was shine a light in my pugs eye. He told me my dog had melanin deposits in his eyes that have developed over years... years. My dog is permanently partially blind, because this entire vet hospital didn't think to check his eyes. Dr. Baird and her staff are amazing! The care and compassion she shows our three dogs, Mia, Molly and Roxy, is unlike any other vet we have ever seen. I think it is just as important to have trust in your vet as you would your own primary care physician, and I can say you can certainly trust Dr. B and her staff. There are times we have to wait a bit after our appointment time, but that is because Dr. B takes care with all of her patients, and I get the same care as the person before me so we don't mind at all. We appreciate the personal care Dr. B gives to us. With all the pets she sees on a daily basis, she always remembers what our girls have gone through or are going through. It would be nice if we could purchase prescription food elsewhere, and not just through the office. I understand why this is done for medications, because Dr. B cares about YOUR fur kids, and getting medications from online "vets", can be dangerous, just so you can save a couple of dollars. As for the comments about being pricey? I do agree! When we started with Dr. B her prices were not as high as they are now. We switched to Country Oaks because Dr. B's reputation and because her prices were reasonable. We took our cats for a check up and they were great, didn't find a bunch of problems like some do and they treated our babies amazingly. When we took our Kitty to the ER clinic over the weekend, the vets office called us Monday morning to check on her. And their pricing is better than any place I've been. Very impressed! Staff is great with my fear aggressive rescue dog. They are always sweet with him, knowing it is his abusive background and not "who he is." I started taking my beagle here about 2 months ago and I couldn't be happier with Dr. Baird and her staff. My dog got all his vaccinations done, microchipped, and then neutered a few weeks later too. Everyone is incredibly friendly and I can tell they truly love animals.I received excellent communication including phone calls with updates and literature to take home with all the instructions. They have an online portal too with my pet's history and upcoming appointments.It is very clean and tidy (especially for an animal clinic).
