My dog got sick while I was visiting my parents in FL.  He suddenly began throwing up blood.  I called Dr. Garrick and he answered right away.  When I explained what was going on, he told me to come in.  Dr. Garrick and his staff worked through their lunch hour to help my dog and I could not be more thankful.  They are extremely caring and attentive.  They examined my dog and gave me a detailed list of what they wanted to do (tests, shots, medicine etc) along with a price estimate.  In addition, his staff helped me through the process of getting reimbursement from my insurance.  My dog is doing great now, I couldn't be happier.  I would highly recommend this vet! Having trust in that relationship is priceless. Our chihuahua, Emma, is going to celebrate 11 years young this month and Dr. Garrick is the only vet she's known. We board her with him and know that it's not a stressful event for her whatsoever. She goes in with her tail wagging and roams the office like she owns it! Dr. Garrick seems nice enough, but you can tell his focus is a bit.... "off". Place is also very disorganized and smells due to poor cleaning. His knowledge of so many different species, including exotics, is phenominal. But, this lady was so rude to me. The first time I called to make my appointment for my bird, she was speaking to me as if I was stupid about the fact that I mentioned that there was mucus coming from my parrot's nose when she sneezes. I let that slide. Later she called me to confirm my appointment. I asked her the price on clipping a dog's nails. And again, she was rude "we wont clip a dog's nails unless they have been examined, this is a animal hospital" I'm the one making the appointment, I know exactly what the establishment is (evidently). I've been a vet tech for 10yrs. And never have I been to a clinic or worked in one that requires for a dog to be examined first. But if that is policy at this place, fine. But don't be rude about it. I have 6 parrots of all sizes, ferrets and dogs. After bringing one of my cockatiels here a couple months ago, I loved Dr. Garrick's services and was going to make this office my bird's vet. Dr. Garrick is the only Vet we will take our dogs (Summer and Sasha). We've been taking them since they were puppies from getting them fixed to their regular check ups. The first time I came here it was in an emergency situation for my bird. The posted hours were from 8am, so I was at the doors waiting at 750. At 815a, the receptionist finally comes in to open the clinic and I explain I want to see the vet right away as my bird was having seizures. Sure she says, and proceeds to call him at home. Apparently he is doing something else other than being at his clinic's posted hours. She tells me he lives 10 mins away and will be here soon. 30 mins pass, an hour... And finally after 2 more calls to him at MY request, he strolls in after 10am. He doesn't seem to care in the least that I've been waiting on him for 2 hours. He looked at me like I was the idiot for expecting him to be at the clinic when he had no scheduled appointments and pretty much told me that as well. I'm sorry, but if your website says you're an emergency clinic with specific posted hours, then, yes I expect you to be there. Or at least hurry in when you find out someone is waiting on you and not finish cleaning your house and running errands first and pretend like you are stuck in traffic. He spent less than ten minutes with me, gives an injection to the bird and a bottle of vitamins to take home...then charges over $100 total. Ouch. And he didn't offer any discount or even an apology for the wait. Fast forward 2 months, and I refill the vitamins for the bird and within 2 weeks, the bottle has stuff growing in it. Apparently the bottles and vitamins aren't sterile and he doesn't list instructions to keep refrigerated or give a expiration date on the label. After arguing with him for 5 mins about this, he finally agreed to give my money back for the vitamins. Dr. Garrick and his staff are wonderful! I first went to Dr. Garrick 17 years ago when I was in need of a vet who was knowledgeable with birds and he was amazing with my lovebird, Sweetie Pie. I have been taking my dog, Caroline, to him for 10 years and she absolutely loves him.  He is very calm and caring and sometimes sings to her. Dr. Garrick is very patient and always answers my questions (being a devoted and informed dog mom, I always have questions). He doesn't overprescribe unnecessary medications and will suggest a natural product whenever appropriate. Over the years, I have seen people bring in other types of animals, including cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, a pot belly pig, a chinchilla, a turtle, rats, a goldfish, a horny toad and lizards and small snakes. Dr. Garrick is also experienced with livestock. The office is very organized and clean. I never have to wait longer than 10-15 minutes unless there is an emergency and still the wait isn't bad. Suprisingly, Dr. Garrick has not raised his prices since he first opened. He really cares about his patients. I have been going to Dr. Garrick for about 8 months now. He is great! I also take my crazy Jack Russell for his bath every month. Last time I took him to the spa by my house that charged me $50 dollars he ended up with a horrible rash had to go on Antibiotics. I use to have to drive to Mirimar but i am so glad I found him. His prices are great. They are less than various places I called. Even Neutered my dog there, Was also the best price. Little far from my house but worth it.Read Less

This place is useless.  My very eldery, cancer stricken mother called this place and begged them to let her bring her bird in to get his beak clipped.  She cant drive so she has to depend on other people to help her out.  This place flat out refused to help her with her bird even after she told them her plight and how badly the bird needed to be clipped.  How long could it possibly take to clip a beak? This is the second pet of mine that has Dr. Garrick as a primary care provider.  I LOVE THIS OFFICE!  I recommend this office to anyone who will listen,  I've recommended 3 people to Dr. Garrick and they ALL love this office.  Dr. Garrick's office takes EXCELLENT care of my little girl.  They knew she was a Havanese and NOT a Shih Tzu on site...   Lori and the staff are awesome!  They call and check on Pepper after her visit and they GENUINELY  care.  While our primary residence is in Coral Springs I happily drive past MANY Vets to get to Dr. Garrick.   We also have a home in Savannah, GA and when visiting - Dr. Garrick's office staff is always willing to fax medical records to other Vets to provide care if necessary - AND - they don't nickel and dime you on the prices.  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!! Dr. Garrick and his staff are very friendly, and seem to have a genuine love for the animals that enter the clinic.  I had taken my budgie in, not being herself, and me being a mess! Dr. Garrick was very thorough in his exam and he explained the different options of treatment, their cost, and also explained that on birds that small normally nothing would actually help given the state that she was in.  I followed the instructions and medicine prescribed, but still Saphira passed just a couple of days after.  I just want to say Thank You to Dr. Garrick and his staff for the follow up with me, that was very nice.  If you have a pet, I would highly recommend you visit this office.  Dr. Garrick is very nice, very professional, makes sure you understand what is going on with your pet, and the clinic is very clean!  Highly recommend the Pembroke Pines Animal Hospital. I was first recommended to Dr. Garrick by a friend, whom takes her birds to Dr. Garrick. I also have two tweeters, one Sun Conure and one Cockatiel. But I also have a pup now named Sula. I've taken both my birds and Sula to Dr. Garrick and he's been great. He is very knowledgeable and good with animals. I highly recommend him to anyone in Pines, especially those who have birds, he's an Avian specialist.The staff are very friendly here. It's a small office but it's always clean, and I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes. They've always been very good to my pup and their prices are fair. Dr. Garrick usually goes over what things will cost and if you agree to having it done before going on ahead with anything [I really appreciate and admire that, because not everyone has the same wallet size]. Dr.Garrick was nothing but a complete disappointment. Our bulldog needed a surgery for his eye when we asked him for an estimate he told us a "pretty penny" and after about 5 requests over 3 weeks he finally gave us a dollar amount on the surgery. He cannot give you an answer on a question right away either. He has to think about it and it takes about a week for him get back to you only if u call him (they dont call u back). On our third and final visit he decides to tell us we should just put our dog to sleep since his (recommended) treatments for our dogs mange was not working. Another Vet successfully treated our dog. They also changed the price on the same medication on two seperate occasions. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY IF YOU CARE FOR YOUR DOG!Read Less
