I took my fur baby for rabies shot today. The staff and doctor were extremely friendly and helpful!! My little baby was scared because of the unfamiliar place and resisted to get out of the bag. The staff and doctor calmed him down nicely and gently, and gave him the shot even he wasn’t aware that it already finished!!! Very professional and nice vet!! Honestly the best vet out there as of yet, generations of my family have used Dr. Burge with all of our pets. The services are pricey, but so is any other doctor (human or animal), so I’m not sure why that is such a negative review to anyone. The highest quality vet and care. I am a new dog owner (my grandma, aunt, and mom have all owned dogs and cats) and I would worry about EVERYTHING. All I did was call up and ask my millions of questions almost everyday and always got very good answers with proof. He does not want me spending more than needed, so always offers alternatives. Pines West has been my animal clinic for very, very many years and I would like to take this opportunity to praise the staff and Dr. Berg for being so kind and compassionate to me and my animals over these years. I run a rescue group and am in there at least 2 or 3 times a month, if not more. Dr. Berg is by far the best diagnostic vet around and has a BIG HEART for every animal that comes in there to be treated. Their prices are actually less money than most other clinics and I always know my animals received the best possible care. I would highly recommend Pines West to all pet owners. They treat both my Bull Terrier Lala and Min Pin Cali with the utmost attention and care. Lala was hospitalized for a few weeks but thanks to the Amazing team of doctors and staff she was able to make a full recovery. Cali also recently went in for surgery; came home happy and healthier! I am new to the area and my cat "Bom Bom" was having a problem walking. My neighbor suggested her vet, Pines West Animal Hospital. I am so grateful that I took my cat there. Pet owners near and far are all too familiar with the woes of finding a great vet who bills fairly. I've tried a few throughout my many years of being a fur-mom and I am no exception. It's so difficult to find the full package, not unlike dating but I digress...I started coming here based on a recommendation from a friend who has been using this vets office for quite a long time and I have not been disappointed. Lanel, the office manager, is a gem. All of front desk staff have always been very pleasant. I have heard great things about all of the doctors here but the two I have seen are Dr. Berg and Dr. Ramirez who are both wonderful. I primarily see Dr. Berg and am just thankful that people like him exist in the veterinary world. He is honest and kind and so good with fur kids. He treats the animals he sees as if they are his own pets. In reference to billing, there are never any secret fees, no padding and since I've been coming here for just under two years or so, I've never felt taken advantage of. That's kindof a big deal. They also call to check up on your pet following any larger procedures or surgery once they've gone home. The office is located in a strip mall off of Pines Blvd and while the lot gets busy, there is ample parking. There's a cat entrance and a dog entrance which I think is smart for the comfort of the animals and probably some of the pet owners. The place is always spotless. I have four animals and my newest addition is a previously abused pitbull who gets very scared at the vets office. He's peed and pooped on the floor in there I don't know how many times from nerves and his accidents never just sit. I always feel bad when he has an accident but the staff there are so understanding and sweet about it. Their hours are longer than many (7a-9p every day of the week) which is extremely helpful to me since my schedule is sometimes unpredictable. Dr Berg is the most amazing Veterinarian I have ever known. He takes care of my babies and the babies of my entire family. He truly cares about the well being of every animal he cares for and cares just as much about the people who love them. His integrity is unsurpassed and his knowledge of veterinary medicine is amazing. His staff is courteous, kind, capable and empathetic. The other Veterinarians in this practice are excellent as well, so if Dr. Berg is unavailable you will be in good hands regardless. I rescued a kitten about a year ago and have been taking him to the Pines West for his shots. This past Friday, I noticed that the cat could not open his left eye and took him in to see the vet. They sedated him and checked his eye and I got him back on Friday evening. According to the vet there was nothing wrong with his eye but even after four days his eye is still dilated. I took him back again on Monday and now they want me to take him to an opthomologist. I won't be taking him back there. Read Less

We used to take our 2 boxers, Chivas and Splash, here all the time. Every time we'd tell them "you want to go see Dr. Berg!?", their ears would perk up! They absolutely loved the Dr. and staff here. When our dogs had passed, Dr. Berg personally called and expressed his sincerest condolences, and it seemed as though he was affected by their loss as well. I've been using Pines West & Dr. Meacham for almost 20 years now and I would never take my animals to see any other vet.  Dr. Berg & Dr. Ramirez are both very knowledgeable and I feel comfortable seeing either one of them when Dr. Meacham is not there.  Contrary to one of the other reviews, the office manager has always been a pleasure to deal with, very polite and helpful.  I have several animals which means I visit the vet quite often and have seen my share of nut jobs (customers) there.  All of the vets there consider the animals well being to be the main priority. I use to feel this was a 5 star facility until I brought my six year old cat in for her annual vaccines, one of which is leukemia.  So why all of a sudden are they pushing me into a boos test ($65) for leukemia of which she has no symptoms and was tested for as a kitten?    I asked them point blank I come here year after year and all of a sudden they are pushing for an unnecessary test that they said isn't required but try and may me feel like I'm not a good pet parent.  My cat has never missed a checkup or vaccination.  She's loved and adored.  I also noticed the bill seemed much higher and I asked to see lasts years receipt but was told they can only tell me what she had done, no prices.  I don't mind higher prices to subsidize their long hours but please don't try and sell me a service or make my pet go under an unnecessary procedure just to make more money.  Shame on you pines west Read Less

We've been using Pines West for a little over a year now, after moving to the area from the west coast. We've seen all the doctors there and Dr. Berg has been our favorite. (Note: there's a visiting vet there every other weekend...name escapes me...but he's awesome, too!) If you're a long time pet owner, you understand the convenience of extended hours (evenings and weekends) and the added availability of an onsite groomer. The vet techs have all been great, as well. I usually wait until the last minute to reorder daily prescriptions for my dog and luckily they've always bailed me out of my own procrastination. Went there for the first time yesterday based on the positive YELP reviews and wnot disappointed.  Just moved here from Germany so needed to find a new vet for our puppies.  This is a nerve wracking experience.  You want to make sure your puppies are cared for by a vet and their staff as you would care for them.  Called and made a same day appointment for our Lab with ear infection issues and decided to get our pointer mix in too for a check up and initial meet and great.  Dr Meacham was phenomenal.  She ohhed and aweed over our lab and even made friends with our introverted mix.  She understood the reason for brining Sammy in even though there were no issues.  Great service from the front desk staff and techs.  There was an intern working from the local college and I think it is great that this practice is a teaching facility.  Highly recommend! We have been taking our pets to Pines West for about 2 years. All our experiences have been great. While we have dealt mostly with Dr. Carmona, our pets have seen all 3 doctors. Dr. Carmona recently treated one of our cats that had cancer. He was very compassionate an understanding as we tried to decide how to proceed. Dr. Meacham has been awesome with my husband's dogs in the past, and now that we have one of our own, of course she'll be going to Dr. Meacham - she deserves the best care!  :-)We visited Pines West when we adopted a dog, just to have her checked up and make sure that she's okay, and just recently, we had her spayed.  The hospital's customer service is outstanding - they make you feel welcomed and put you at ease.  Their service on the phone is great as well - if the doctor is not in at the time, the staff ensures that the doctor receives the message and they call back within the next few hours - which is sad that I can't say the same about my primary doctor's office! I followed Dr. Berg from the Miami Lakes office he use to work at to Pembroke Pines and he has been my vet for 28 years. That time alone should be a pretty good indication of what an exceptional vet and person he is. it's rare to find a place that you trust to care for your pets which are extensions of your family. I have referred many people to them and they have all had great experiences. Throughout the years I have had numerous trips to the vets with my 7 pets and the staff has always been fantastic, from Jennifer at the front desk all the way to Dr. Meacham and Dr. Berg.
