My mother in law took her dog there for a leg problem and was told to just "drop" off her dog and they already planned on x-rays before even examining the dog.  She was advised that surgery was recommended, but never even saw the vet.  So unprofessional!!!  2 weeks later they still hadn't scheduled surgery.  Finally took her to my vet who spent 30 minutes explaining what was wrong which he found by examining the dog before xrays were even done and spent the time to explain what was needed.  Big difference. Dr. Christy and her staff are beyond amazing. We took our Boxer, Cleo here from 5/2011-10/2016. She was always welcomed warmly and taken care of greatly. We got to be close to the staff as we used the resort boarding services too. We never had any kind of negative issues with the resort, hospital or staff. In Oct 2016 Cleo got sick out of the blue so my wife brought her in and dropped her off so Dr. Christy could work her in because she was very busy that day. Long story short, Dr. Christy herself called my wife and told her that Cleo's kidneys were failing and there was not much we could do. We decided to have her put to sleep and came in to the office. Almost every single staff member came in to say good bye to our sweet girl. Every staff member hugged us and cried with us. On top of all of that, they made a paw print in clay for us to treasure. This hospital and staff are the ONLY vet I'd ever take my pets to. And now, 18 months later we're back with a new puppy and they welcomed us with open arms. I have been using this resort for my 4 legged babies for 3 years. My Benjamin is always well taken care of, and I never have to worried about if they are trying to "sale" me something. I also board him there, his home away from home.. From the staff to the doctors and back to the grooming and boarding, is an all around great facility that I feel completely comfortable leaving him at, could not have done a better job creating an environment to serve the humans to leave their fur babies at and entrust their well being and health with!!! I brought in my puppy for his second round of shots a few days ago. They didn't know what my puppy needed done that day even with me having brought him in the last time at the beginning of the month and me having come in to get the dewormer a week prior. They take my puppy to the back as well as me asking to his nails trimmed( first time I went they did not do this and there were no issues) Not even 3 minutes later my puppy is crying his head off!!! They bring him back in 5 minutes later and this rude Vet, that was not Dr. Layton comes in and immediately tells me that my puppy needs training because she knows his breed and that they are crazy dogs and obviously we aren't giving him the training needed..... Not how my dog is doing or anything related to me paying for an exam !!! Also they didn't even offer me the rabies tag after his shot because they are expecting me to get him neutered there so I wont have to pay the $40.... how about you ask me what I want, not what you're assuming??? I'm beyond disappointed that I even wasted my money bringing him here. God knows if they even gave him the shots they said they did. Read Less

We have taken our two, large breed dogs to this vet for the last 9 years. I love this vet's office! The staff truly care about all of their patients and always make time to ensure that all our questions and concerns are addressed. We are never rushed. On the one occasion when we had an unexpected emergency 1 hour before they closed, the staff were able to squeeze us in to be seen. I would never take my girls anywhere else! The staff is also good about keeping the cost of treatments in mind. We had one instance where our dog had an infection that cold have been caused by one of two types of bacteria. The vet said the treatment for both types was the same so rather than run a test to determine the type of bacteria, which would have been an additional expense, the vet just gave us the antibacterial pills. I have been going here for two years. I am very pleased with the treatment that my dog receives here. I don't understand the negative comments. When my dog was in pain they figured out the problem within minutes. I also have my dog groomed here. It is so convenient to have my dog's vaccinations taken care of during his grooming. They could make me make a separate appointment and charge me for an office visit. But they don't. I appreciate the savings that they pass along to me. I have been in this area since 1984 and I have finally found the perfect place for my dogs where I can trust that they will be given the care I ask for and my concerns are understood and respected. I have been taking my babies to Christy since she opened in 2006 or 2007. And never had a problem until recently.. I lost my job and had to get my baby care, I owed a remaining $62.00, which I was sent to Collections over. I PAID the amount owed $62. and change, early this year. I confirmed the payment WAS received, and I have called a MINIMUM Once a week Since September 29th, 2016, to speak to Adrian, The Office Manager to have the "UNPAID" status of this account updated with the bureaus.... To Date (12/8/2016) I have called and left over 11 messages for Her and she has YET to Correct this OR even have the decency to RETURN my call! I am working with the Collection agency , With Payment confirmation IN HAND to try to get this resolved. NOTHING YET.. THEY can't even get her to return THEIR call. I hate that NOW I have to find someone else to care for my babies! I LOVE the Doctors! Just can't get any assistance from some of the Office staff. IN SHORT.... I have been taking my dogs to Timberlane since 2010 when I moved near Plant City. The staff is compassionate and professional. One of my dogs was very fear aggressive. He always needed a muzzle to be treated, but little by little, they gained his trust. When he was bit by a moccasin, they helped me through a horrible week trying to care for him at home. At then end of this terrible week when I decided it was time to let him go, the whole staff stayed late to be with us as we said goodbye. We feel extremely fortunate to have our animals under the care of Dr. Layton and the staff of Timberlane. They all really seem to love what they do and that shows, and I also think our pets can sense it, too. Our Black Mouth Cur was very ill and under the care of another veterinarian. His prognosis was poor and euthanizing him was even mentioned. We promptly got a second opinion from Dr. Layton and she was able to diagnose and treat his illness. Now almost 2 months later, he is as happy and healthy as we have ever seen him. We wouldn't think of recommending any other veterinarian than Dr. Layton and Timberlane Pet Hospital. Read Less

Full dusclosure, I have not been to Dr. Layton in at least two years (2013) HOWEVER, it was ONLY due to distance!  Prior to that, I followed Dr. Layton from prior to her owning her own practice, in 2001. Suffice it to say, we went through alot, first and foremost the care and ultimate euthanization of my beloved cat,  Baxter. Time and again Dr. Layton cared for him, was real with me, and ultimately earned fierce loyalty from me, including my mother also taking her animal to her.Once my family grew cat wise, we started taking them to her as well, and again: compassion! From not just her, but HER STAFF! She just does not surround herself with anything less than polite and compassionate people, and animals have a more positive experience in that environment - and so do the humans!I HIGHLY recommend this business. The wonderful care and compassion from Dr. Layton, Dr. Trotter, and all the staff is one of reasons  I go here.  Some of my cats have gone through some very serious illnesses  and sadly had to be euthanized. If you are considering taking your babies to Timberlane Pet Hospital in the front of Walden Lake, DO NOT! BEWARE!! You have been warned. I paid up front (DUMMY ME) for a complete puppy package ($900+) and was late in taking my puppy in for her yearly because they did not return my phone call attempts to schedule. They are now DENYING to give me the services I PAID FOR because it is their "policy". Once you call them out on it they show their true colors and become extremely rude and bitchy. The ladies in the office are not down to earth, they are very stuck up and rude the moment you have ANY discrepancies. This is NOT a family oriented place I would ever recommend taking your pets to! They are VERY money hungry and I hope to see them lose a lot of business because of this. I now have to take my puppies in to another establishment where I am going to have to pay $200+ to recieve what I have ALREADY paid for. What a shame!!!! Do NOT ever pay them up front or sign up for any packages, they will not get you in and once it runs out they will not see you unless you pay more!! The ladies have also repetitively lied to me in what I was supposed to get in the package, so I had them email the copy to me and of course, there was the truth - the things I did not recieve that I paid for. Do not bring your pets here!! Me and my wife paid for a puppy package up front (dummy us) and nearing the end of the paid year, we tried to schedule in. We ran late to schedule after not receiving a phone call back, the establishment has now DENIED to work with us and get our puppy in for the last set of everything she needs. They won't work with us at all. Instead of honoring what we PAID FOR, we were met with very very rude office staff..... Patti and Adrian were condescending and belittling and told us they would rather lose us as clientele than to honor what we paid for! Our only option is to take our pets to another establishment where we will feel comfortable and pay $200+ for what we already paid for and did not recieve. They also lied to us about what comes in the package, trying to say we had received everything. After receiving the hard copy we signed, we found out what we were not given. DO NOT GO HERE! They are money hungry and extremely unprofessional and rude. I wouldn't trust my pets there worth my life! Read Less

We have been seeing Dr. Christy Layton for over 10 years for both our cat and our dog. She and her staff are always professional and have treated our pets with undying compassion. Our dog was recently diagnosed with cancer and both she and Dr. Trotter went above and beyond when we had pain management and bandage issues from another hospital. This is the best clinic I have ever used. They took the time not only to speak to me, but also the time to get to know my dog and his personality. I boarded him here several times and he was happy to be there. I was supplied a link to look in on him and he was taken out to play a few times a day. Have not been there but..... when I had a Sat. AM emergency I called my usual vet, but she could not accommodate me as she had a personal appointment herself.  She gave me Dr. Laytons' number to call.  I called and was put on hold so long that by the time they finally answered my call I could not get there before they closed at 12. They told me I could go to the emergency clinic.  I could have been there in 10 minutes and they kept me on hold for 15 minutes. But I could go to Dr. Laytons' emergency clinic at four times the fee.  Not cool, especially when a fellow vet suggested I take my sick cat to Dr. Layton . If they had said bring her in I'd have been there at 12:05.  Not very compassionate. Read Less
