I had an emergency situation happen with my dog. I called and they said bring her in we'll see you. I get there and they acted as if I was a burden took her back just to tell me can't see her too busy to take her somewhere else. Really?! My family and I used to come to this vet all the time, but we stopped going because staff kept changing and it just wasn't how it used to be. This is the BEST VET ON EARTH. My dog Diesel was hit by a truck that was moving 65 Mph. We rushed him to an overnight vet that sent him home to suffer and die. The next morning my friend took us to the Outback Animal Hospital to have him put to sleep so he would suffer no longer. DR. P saved his life and for pennies on the dollar to what I was quoted by the other vet. Diesel has had 2 surgeries and 1 of them was performed by Dr. P on her day off. I can not say enough about the staff. These girls have absolutely went above and beyond to take the best care of my dog I have ever seen. We are allowed to visit him as often as we can. The treatment we receive while there is first rate. IF YOU LOVE YOUR ANIMAL AND YOU WANT A VET THAT REALLY CARES THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU. WE OWE HER DIESELS LIFE, WITH OUT THIS PLACE AND THESE PEOPLE MY DOG WOULD HAVE DIED FOR SURE. Read Less

As we all know it's never a good thing when your love one isn't feel well and a visit to the Vet is a must. We've taken our dogs and cats there, and everyone liked it as well as they can like going to the vet. We even brought a very sick dog we were fostering there. Because she was a temporary foster to be sent to it's new owner, but was too sick to travel (heartworms, and a few other issues). They set up an account for people to contribute to her care and the rescue we worked with was referring it's members there to donate what they could. They went above and beyond to help. i had an emergency this past thrusday in which i brought my 5 week old puppy to the outback veterinary. the sign on the door said walk ins welcome. it was an emergency. when i approached the counter with my injured puppy the girls at the desk informed me there was no vet on duty... not only was i there before closing time, they were abruptly very rude, one of the workers handed me a piece of pamplet and said take him here, when i asked for directions she said to me gps it....rude... my baby passed away... i am new to this area, i will never do business here Read Less

I have been taking My dogs to Out back for years and have spent thousands there. because the Doctors/vet are awesome. Today I waited almost 2 hours for a 15 min test result and was treated very poorly by the office staff. Out back has always charged more than others and upsells everything. but I thought it was worth it for the Great service they gave. untill today, I can find some one else that will take My money with a smile. If being treated as a valued customer is important to you, do not go to Outback Animal Hospital. Twice, the office manager has been extremely rude, and has trained the other office staff to follow her lead. Hence, if you have an issue that needs to be resolved (e.g., requesting a refund when you've been overcharged), you will be made to feel like you are imposing, or told you are "overreacting," when you attempt to resolve the issue. This is unfortunate, because the vet, Dr. Proutsas, is superb. She has competently and capably treated our two dogs and cat, but they will now go elsewhere because of the office manager. Read Less

I am not sure what is going on with Outback Vet, new office management, or what but their prices have gone up quite a bit recently. To vaccinate a litter of puppies at a rival vet (and this vet is known throughout Florida for her breeding services) $25.00 per puppy, Outback $45.00 a puppy. Outback nickels and dimes you, they are going to price themselves out of the area of Polk City. Their prices do not reflect the median income in the area. But Dr. "P" is one of the best vets around. This is a very good pet hospital. I took my yorkshire terrier there, to get her teeth cleaned. She had the most dirtiest teeth! They had plaque, and she had very bad breath. When I came to pick her up, her teeth where pearly white and sparkling, and she was bad breath free! I recommend this hospital. It does a job well done. Read Less
