I am overall very happy with front office staff as well as the medical/grooming staff. My complaints are that they always sneak in an $8 "Biohazard Medical Waste Fee" weather there is a stool sample or not. & it's always listed directly in the middle of the itemized breakdown like they are hoping you will overlook such a charge & also how excessive the charge is. It doesn't matter if there's 5 or 10 separate items charges, the $8 bio fee is always placed directly in middle of breakdown. Comes across as deceitful. And really, $8 for EACH patient EACH visit?Also, they don't provide a quote beforehand while in the exam room. Any other of the 3 animal hospitals I've been to, they provide a quote before doing any procedures & will go line by line should you chose not to do a specific item. Here @ Acacia, they take the pet out of the room so you don't know what procedures are being performed then before I can even blink an eye they are telling me that we're all done & to go to front for checkout where by then it's too late to question a charge or decline a service. This has happened to me twice so far @ Acacia. Maybe they are assuming everyone is from LHP & has plenty money & don't need to see a quote first but for others like me, it's very difficult to swing hundreds of dollars at every visit. Read Less

Brought my cat here when I first got him and they made sure he was in good health and helped me lay out a plan to make sure he got all the shots and everything else he needed making sure I didn't have to go broke in the process, and I wasn't there long at all. Acacia Animal Hospital really CARES. I rescued a Siamese kitty from the beach and needed to immediately find a place for him to stay. I hadn't been able to reach some rescues, so my friend referred me to Acacia, where she brings her own cats. I spoke with several extremely helpful, caring people: Lisa, Robin, Michelle. After holding for a few moments on the phone, they came back to give me a resounding Yes! They so kindly went out of their way to clear a safe space to accommodate and treat him. So I brought him over right away. I found them to be highly professional, deeply present and compassionate people. They were also quickly enamored of the cat, as well, and offered to foster him there, in order to find him an ideal home. Turns out that Good Karma Pet Rescue , with whom I had been "in text" regarding this situation, immediately found an adopter, so one of their foster moms is going today to pick him up and bring him to his forever home. I plan to follow up. If for whatever reason the adoption doesn't work out, Acacia generously offered to have him return there to be fostered . This kitty is so special .. everyone loves him! I am so grateful for the way Acacia responded to this urgent situation, and I am happy to sing their praise here in this review. Took my English bulldog in fear not knowing what was going on. We arrived and was immediately taken in. Within seconds he was taken to the back... He had a BAD case of hives. Within a few hours his golf size bumps were gone. Dr. Leif and staff are outstanding. No matter the issue they are always attentive to the needs of my baby "Thor". We have been bringing our 5yr old Chihuahua here for almost 3 years for regular check-ups and nail trimming. The personnel have always been nice and prices are fair. I also love hat their open 7 days. Recently, our Sunny had an unexpected bladder infection that required surgery based on lab and CT scan results. Dr Atria (surgeon), did a wonderful job handling the unexpected during surgery. Post surgery, they kept her overnight and answered all my check-in calls. Unfortunately, once we had her home she got to her stitches and had to take her back to get dressing and wrap. They then had results from what was causing the infection and with antibiotics and pain meds, she was back to herself about 2 weeks later. Given all the office visits and calls to the Dr, we weren't grossly overcharged for office visit, etc. I was pleasantly surprised how affordable it was and the quality of care. I brought my dog here for the first time today. We were in search of a new vet who wouldn't overcharge us and try to push unnecessary products and services on us. We saw Dr. Atria today. He was extremely friendly and was very gentle with my dog. He diagnosed the issue quickly and recommended treatment. The staff didn't try to force any products or tests on us and I felt like the price we paid for the exam and medication was fair. I also liked the office and exam room. Took my dog here cause she had what turned out to be a UTI. The doctor came in and sat on the floor with my dog and was so good with her. He was easy to talk to and they never tried to get me to do anything extra as far as tests or anything else. Felt great when I left and will definitely be back for her check up. Great place. OMG!!! THE VERY BEST VET EVER!!! I, and my cat Bella,  just had a wonderful experience with the kind of doctor, assistant, and office staff that one normally only dreams of. Everyone in this office was professional, kind, and extremely patient. Starting with the girls on the phone that booked my appointment,  and then worked with me when I called to let them know I was running late, they were so professional. The doctors assistant was then so patient with me as I gave him a rather long explanation of Bella's  illness. The "icing on the cake" was Dr. Leif himself. He was so kind to us and so thorough  with Bella's exam. Both the doctor and his assistant were also very gentle when handling Bella. I am also on a fixed income, and they very  kindly worked with me. If you wish that a (generally stressful) visit to the veterinarian was a happy, pleasant, positive outing-- then this is the place! The entire staff is very friendly and courteous. I've been going there since 2000. Tim gives my girl her bath every month. Tim is outstanding with her and takes special care of her. He always totally checks her and brings anything to my attention. This last week after her bath, he showed me a bump on her side and asked if I wanted them to take a sample of the fluid and get it checked. As it turned out, it was cancer. I've been taking my dog here and stoping in for supply's for almost a year and I am very pleased with the staff. They are so friendly and helpful. I recently brought my bull dog in for a bordetella update and though I was almost at the cut off mark to be seen with no exam, they were willing and able to help me instead of turning me away. I had a few extra bucks and requested at the last minute to just do the exam and the staff were able to fit me in with a doctor and only had to wait 10 minutes. The doctors are very nice and they treat my dog kindly. They do not nickel and dime me at all! Their location is great as well. I never write reviews but after my experience today, it is a must! I rescued a puppy and noticed that she was peeing extremely frequent, very little amounts and sometimes with blood. I am a student so I was extremely worried about the cost to take her in and any medications needed. I called the office early at 7 am and was greeted by a very nice receptionist. She was able to give general pricing over the phone while a lot of the vet offices I called told me "we'd need to see the puppy to tell you a price". While every situation is different, it is more comforting to have some idea of the price range of the visit. Due to my urgency they scheduled me for an appointment right away at 8 am. Upon arrival I filled out quick paperwork, answered a few questions and was back with the vet no later than 8:10 am. The vet tech was extremely polite, knowledgeable and professional. The vet Devon is incredible my puppy was so comfortable with him. He did not recommend any unnecessary testing and immediately gave treatment options. I arrived 15 minutes before my appointment to fill out the necessary paperwork associated with a first-time office visit. I brought my cat for an ear issue. It was a first-time visit. The office staff was friendly and the office was clean, even though it was the end of the day. I was received on schedule. The technician (working on her veterinary doctorate) that received me listened and took careful notes on symptoms and behaviors, treatments that I had performed, medications I used, and experiences I had had with all of these. She then answered questions I posed. Following this, I waited for about 7 minutes for the doctor. I was checked-on twice, and briefed on the doctor's status. Upon arriving, the doctor was knowledgeable and friendly. He examined my cat and gave me careful and calculated information as he did so. He answered my questions and provided thorough feedback. A new technician gingerly cleaned my cats ears while the doctor talked to me. She demonstrated a technique that I was able to watch and understand. She also told me how often to use the medication and cleaner. The fees I was charged for the service and products were reasonable, and my cat was not visibly stressed by the staff, surroundings, or the treatment. Excellent, consistent, and fairly priced treatment and boarding. Dr. Atria at Acacia (and their sister hospital in FTL) has been taking care of and boarding our pups for years. There are never any surprises and they consistently impress us with the transparency (let us know what treatments are necessary and which can be forgone), communication (let us know how they are doing during boarding), and genuine care they provide for our dogs (multiple follow-up calls after treatments).Read Less

My dogs have been going to Acacia for five years. I completely trust the doctors and staff to do the best for my dogs. One of my labs had a mast cell tumor removed about four years ago, and that surgery gave us three more years with her. The groomers are awesome as well and the front desk staff goes above and beyond. Boarding is a hassle. Need more test than usual and it's pretty expensive. I've taken my dog to plenty of boarding that didn't require fecal testing. The only thing I needed and it was over $100. My sister and I have been going here for years and I have also referred many people to Acacia. unfortunetly one of my dogs came down with some mystery virus and I had to rush him to an emergency vet and then to Acacia the following day. Dr Stevens worked his magic and 3 days later (saturday dec 26th) my dog was back to himself. Today the 28th another of my dogs fell ill to what seems to be the same virus. When I called to bring her in I simply asked that if the cost was going to be around the same as 2 days prior if I would be able to pay half today and half next week. Considering it was over $1000 for the emergency vet and acacia visits as well as it being christmas, I'm a little short on cash. I was told they don't do any sort of payment plans, which is fine, and they also suggested I look into paws2help. I decided to bite the bullet and ask my family for assistance paying and they were more then willing. when I brought my dog to Acacia the same helpful people from the phone suddenly made me feel embarrassed and as if I was going to abandon my dog or try to not pay my future bill. The office manager asked me in front of other clients and staff of I could call my father and have him give his credit card over the phone before they take my dog.... Are you kidding me? I'm sorry but I have never felt so embarrassed, it was so unprofessional and uncalled for.... After all my years of going here I have never left with a balance, aside from the 13.00 I owe for fluids the other day. I never asked for a freebie or a discount, I simply asked what my options were... I want to also mention this has nothing to do with the WONDERFUL doctors, it was the office manager. if I'm in the wrong then I will call myself out, if not then I would like an apology for being made to feel like a bad pet owner and a potential criminal....Read Less

Based on reviews I decided to take my cat to Acacia when she wasn't feeling good. I've been to two other vets in the area and have always felt that they are too expensive and run unnecessary tests etc...My cat ended up having a very high temp and the Dr. consulted with me and provided me with cost effective options to treat her. He conservatively treated her and was able to bring her fever down and make her feel more comfortable. He offered to have me bring her back the next day (no charge-how sweet) to observe her and monitor her temperature. Lucky she is eating and feeling better. Dr. Erik has a very nice bedside manner and I felt very at ease while he explained what was going on. He seemed to be only concerned with the welfare and well being of my cat, not the money...how refreshing. This was my first time here and I'm very happy with my experience! Oh, and no waiting either! It's clean, bright, and comfortable.  I felt like the staff really cares about their work, and I didn't feel rushed.  Front desk staff was open and friendly, and vet techs kind and gentle.I liked that the doctor took time to explain all options for treatments, and that the clinic uses LASER for the surgery I inquired about. I bought a puppy and, as part of the warranty, she should be taken to Acacia Animal Hospital. We hated the place: 1.The doctor who saw our puppy, were not the one for whom she was appointed for. And nobody explained us why.2. They took the puppy from us to be examined at another room for more than 30 minutes, and never told us what was happening or what was being doing.3. When the doctor came to speak to us, he said she had got a cold. In fact, we discovered later (at another hospital) that she had a respiratory infection.If you do care about your animal and don't want to be overcharged, look for another place. Read Less

This is the best experience I have had at an Animal Hospital to date! I have a dog and 2 cats and have been to a few Veterinarians in the South Florida area but this one impressed me the most. The staff were really attentive to my pets and took the time to answer every last one of my questions and educated me a lot.
