The veterinary doctor at the time (before retirement) Dr. Peter Fleming, was an amazing vet doctor, at CLAH! He was very understanding, he always listened to you and he was very nice to his co-workers. This vet doctor that took his place, he's rude and he doesn't listen to you at all. He isn't nice to his co-workers neither, I've witness him talk really nasty to one. I'd felt really bad for her, think she quit/found somewhere else to work after that. He think he knows everything, and that all animals are the same or have the same issues! Which isn't always true, he never fully listen to me and he always cut me off. That isn't acceptable at all or professional. You supposed to listen to the patient, so you'll understand what's going on with their pet! You don't know what is going on, if you don't listen to the patient first. They'll only know what they've witness, that has happen to their fur baby. That really turned me around, to find me another vet to take my animals to. The staff is slow when it comes to answering calls, filling Rx's and when you have a question it's hard to even get an answer. The place has changed a lot since, the retirement of Dr. Peter! Excellent vet clinic, Dr Melgy is awesome, he's kind, compassionate, and my special- needs rescue dogs are treated like VIPs. I highly recommend this office for your dog or cat. The techs are super caring and are always gentle and professional. Unlike a former vet, he takes into consideration the costs and quality of life issues that are so difficult to navigate. I never feel pressured to do the "high prices extras". As a medical professional myself, I appreciate his clinical knowledge and expertise. On vacation....I realized my dogs needed their annual. Called my Vet. They told me it would cost approx. $125.00 for each dog (2) Totaling $250.00 Crystal lake gave me a price of $229.00 each. They tried to add unnecessary services, along with a disposal fee of $9.00 each. DOG OWNER BEWARE................. Many other places around have lower rates. Margate who has a 5 star review. Family owned. Dr Berrios has excellent friendly staff. Charged me $75.00 each. They have a lower exam fee, and won't charge a "Disposal fee." Thanks..........Margate. Read Less

We got our 5 month old puppy spayed through the Broward County Snip program at Crystal Lake. Everyone was very pleasant and made us feel comfortable. The dr called after the surgery was done and answered our questions patiently. The whole process went smoothly and we are very satisfied with them. Thorough vet. I brought my pug in for itchy, smelly skin. I had went to a closer vet and my pug was wrongfully diagnosed and given yeast infection meds. After 2 visits and 2 weeks I changed veta and brought him to Crystal Lake. Vet saw he had couple fleas. My pug was on advantage but it wasn't working. Found that his skin was irritated and inflamed from a couple flea bites and gave me new flea meds that work and an allergy med for 2 weeks, and told me not to bathe him so his skin could calm down. He also found an ear infection that the other vet missed in two visits. I was a little skeptical that all of his skin issues could be from me not using the right flea preventative. But it has been two weeks and my puglet is so much better! He is no longer itching. His fur is no longer wet/oily from the inflammation. He doesn't smell like a really stinky dog. Stopped in to adopt, came home with a friendly and well mannered cat (Furmata) who has medical history, recent bloodwork and a bag of the food he needs to eat. We had been to several vets in the area and then decided to try Dr Melgey at Crystal Lake Animal Hospital.In the past our Chihuahua Jaxson has had a very difficult time to say the least at the vets office! He is very fearful and flips out if anyone touches him. I just want to say the Dr Melegy is phenomenal! He is professional, knowledgeable and attentive and made us feel very comfortable. He took his time with Jaxson (who actually let Dr Melgey cut his nails!) and explained everything and answered all of our questions.Dr. Melgey also saw our Our Shepherd mix Angie. We were extremely happy with the way Angie was treated and the staff at Crystal Lake also deserve high praise. After seeing 6 different vets in a course of five years, Dr. M was the 7th and the only vet who was able to diagnose my cat with the correct diagnosis - kidney failure. And unlike the other vets who didn't know what was wrong with him, but recommended aggressive treatment (I.e. open surgery on a 15 year old cat), dr. M never pressured me or guilt me in any treatment to my kitty that he felt would be more harmful than beneficial for his age and condition. It's nice to find a vet who really knows senior cats. Dr Megley and staff are truly wonderful.  I have three pit bulls, and unfortunately lost one of my furbabies early last year due to Cancer.  The entire staff truly showed kindness during this time.  I now have a new puppy and even though we have a ton of vets in our area, I will take the drive to visit Dr. Megley and his staff.  They are not only caring, but very unusual to find a vet that actually cares enough about our pets not to over-charge or gouge money out of his clients.  He is truly an a wonderful Vet.
