I called and made an appointment last week for, what I thought was today at one pm. I needed to cancel the appointment and reschedule. I called to do so and was greeted with the repetitive statement that, "we have no appointments scheduled for today between noon and three so it wasn't today". Maybe, just maybe, I should have been assisted by the staff who was hired to assist callers and had my appointment found. Instead she was extremely rude in tone and unwilling to help me find my appointment. I have taken my three labs to this vet and had no issues over the last 12 years. I have a new dog now and needed to establish with a vet for her. It surely will not be this one. What a shame one person's poor customer service can loose a long time customer. Maybe retrain or fire. I've been taking my dogs to Dr Stevens since moving to Port Charlotte in 2003 and would never think of going any where else. My sister has been using him since 1982 which is how I first learned of him. He has been our "family vet" for over 20 years and I hope he never ever retires; or at least passes on his wisdom, in full, before doing so :). I took my 11 year old French bulldog for her 1st visit to the Animal Medical Clinic yesterday where she was seen by Dr. Stevens. I passed by several other clinics because of the bad reviews I had read. I'm glad I went the extra miles. I was impressed by Dr. Stevens, and my dog liked him too. He was calm, unhurried, and thorough. His treatment plan was logical and conservative - no need for surgery at this time. I felt that Dr. Stevens honestly had my dog's best interests at heart. Dr. Berrish was great with Bristol and took his time...Gave ME the options on treatment to maybe avoid costly X-rays that we might not need as of yet. This Is definitely my new Place of choice to go...Other reviews that were very positive is why I went in the first place and they were correct. They also are very reasonable on their pricing so far. The staff was amazing. Dr. McDonald worked within our budget and was able give our "piper" the fighting chance she needed. We drove almost 4 hours because we read all the good things about her and her staff. If anyone says anything negative about how her or her staff runs their practice, they need to join the rest of us here on earth. I ask you this, would you rather have a doctor that rushes you through, and looks at your pet like a number....or spend the time to have a Dr. That looks at you pet as a family member and give you all the options? Have been going here for about 15 years with both cats and dogs.  Dr. Stevens is wonderful; no nonsense, hands-on vet that tells it like it is without ordering expensive and unnecessary testing.  Great diagnostician!  My oldest dog is now 15 1/2 and is having problems, but Dr. Stevens has been compassionate yet professional.  Also used Dr. Novy (not sure if she is still there), but she too was wonderful.  I would HIGHLY recommend this vet clinic; staff is very friendly and helpful, Doc is terrific, care is excellent, and cost is VERY reasonable.
