On the evening of May6th my 5 month old Airedale began to suffer pain when urinating. I took Tessa to the Veterinary Emergency Clinic and was greeted as if I had been going there on a regular basis. Actually the only other time I went was with my other Airedale, Keiko who ate a dryer sheet one night. Well this visit Tessa was seen by Dr.Erin Ramsdell. I did not get the names of the staff but I must say that from the receptionist, to the nurse who came in to get vital signs to the doctor, All treated my puppy with care, concern and obvious love.I was offered water for myself or my puppy. They could not do enough for me. But here is the point, they were at the same time dealing with three critical cases. I was not in a rush as long as she was seen and treated. I watched them running around with these other cases and in between that they came in to keep me posted and doing tests on Tessa. God bless them for what they do and showing so much concern for a puppy that they most likely never see again.......that's professionalism.

Our little girl Daisy had fallen off the bed and wound up with a high velocity rupture of one of her discs, resulting in paralysis from her upper back all the way down. She'd had surgery for it elsewhere, but 2 nights after we brought her home she was frantic with pain again. The neurosurgeon, who was an hour away, sent us to the closest ER, which was this vet.
I am so thankful we went here; besides being close, the vet and tech on staff were absolutely WONDERFUL!! It was the middle of the night, and they took superb care of Daisy AND me, letting me rest in the waiting room while the urinalysis was read by the vet. He gave her pain meds shortly after we arrived so that she would be more comfortable. And he sent us home with the appropriate antibiotics and instructions for her care. She was a much happier pooch by the time we left there. Their prices were reasonable, so I can't understand some of the reviews that complain about having to pay for an exam even if nothing was wrong (seriously?).
I wish they were a full-time veterinary office; I'd take Daisy there any day of the week! I HIGHLY recommend this vet ER!!

They saved my dogs life. He had heart failure. It has been 3 yrs since then and he is still going strong because of there cardiologist Dr. Mulz. They have a great staff and help you get care credit if you can't afford the fee. Its still a business and they can't give their services away for free. I really appreciate them. I wouldn't have my boy today if it wasn't for them.

My bully was rushed here from a heat stroke on a pet sitters watch. I cannot thank the all the Doctors, esp Dr. Rivers and staff enough! They took very good care of our baby while he was there over the weekend. Unfortunately, he did not make it due to side effects from the stroke but their care was always great during the stay he was there and Dr. Rivers always was there to give us an update in person. Such a great doctor. I hope I never have to come back here, but I would recommend anyone that has to in the future! Thank you guys!

We have a 13 year old pekingese named Sadie Rose and she means everything to us! This last month has been extremely scary with her health! All I can say is we called this emergency veterinary clinic and they were awesome from the initial phone call, to our arrival and taken care of Sadie for us. The doctor and staff was amazing and we were so relieved that it wasn't as bad as we thought. Thank you ladies who were working when we arrived, you all were great and friendly! We just cannot thank Dr Rivers and the staff enough at The Veterinary Emergency Clinic in Pt. Charlotte. During a difficult and highly emotional situation an immediate diagnosis was made and all avenues were clearly presented. We may not always like what we hear, but when it's delivered in an earnest manner with kindness and patience for us it somehow buffered the pain. We had a comfortable feeling of a caring yet highly competent environment from the moment we walked in. Thank you Dr. Rivers and staff for taking such good care of our "Emmy girl".

Then I asked them to please hold him till morning so I could go to the bank cause I knew if I took him home he would die. And I figured I paid 85$ already they could have just held him. And they wouldn't and he died this morning.

Absolutely wonderful staff, very reasonable price. I would absolutely recommend using this clinic. I brought in our yorkie puppy for some emergency attention and everyone was delightful and very nice....

I brought in our yorkie puppy for some emergency attention and everyone was delightful and very nice. I missed the tech's name(had the tattoo of a red cross) but she was awesome, very informative both on the phone before I brought Zoey in and also when I arrived. Dr. McShaffry was absolutely awesome as well. He was also very informative of the situation and very nice. The overall price for everything out the door was very, very reasonable. I would strongly recommend using this office in the event of an emergency. Thanks again everyone from the clinic.

We took our one year old chihuahua here on a Saturday morning when she was sick. What a wonderful clinic! I have never felt so comfortable at a vet and my dog, who is afraid of strangers, loved the staff. They treated her perfectly and I wish they were a regular vet because they would be my first choice in this area. We also had to take our beloved beagle there on a Wednesday night when our vet was supposedly still open. She had died at home in the evening and our regular vet said it was too late for them to take her and to try the emergency vet. This clinic was so kind about taking our dog for cremation and their fees are very reasonable for all services. I've never been back to the vet who wouldn't help us when our baby, who was their patient, died, especially because it was during business hours. The emergency vet doesn't take appointments, but if your pet is sick, I highly recommend the Veterinary Emergency Clinic.

My puppy ingested something that could have become a serious issue such as a blockage... I called this emergency hospital and they were so quick to help and tell me coming in to make him vomit would be the best outcome for him. We went down and it was clean, quiet and everyone was so nice- the whole visit took about 15 minutes and the price was somewhat reasonable for an emergency at 10 pm. My baby vomited up the object and is now resting comfortably at home. Thank you thank you thank you! A + ... So good to know they are right around the corner from us

The staff was incredible. Very caring. I brought my 14 month old labrador in early this morning. She was very ill, dehydrated and had sepsis. They took extremely good care of her before we had to put her down. Don't understand some of the other reviews stating that they only care about the money, I was given options and truthful opinions on how to treat my baby girl. I know she is resting peacefully thanks to them. Hopefully I won't need to use them again, but if I do I wouldn't hesitate to call on them for help. Thanks again for being so good to Chloe.

We brought our elderly dog in when we came home from work to find her pale and lethargic. Unfortunately, we ultimately had to make the humane decision to euthanize her but I can say enough about the kindness, compassion and professionalism of the staff. The doctor gave us a clear and knowledgeable picture of what was happening and was supportive of our decision not to let out precious furbaby suffer. We were allowed to stay with her through her final moments and she passed peacefully in our arms. I hope that you never have occasion to need an ER vet but if you do, you won't find better care than here. I only wish I could use them for my primary vet because they are, in my experience, far superior to most basic care vets.

Horrible service. Had an emergency situation with my ferret. Was not happy about $50 exam fee (would charge even if nothing is wrong with ferret) but agreed to it anyway. Went in room, kept waiting for doc. Doc listened to heart and tested breathing, did nothing else. Seemed more concerned with figuring out how much $ to charge than to actually look at ferret/treat it. We left without finishing because we were there with an EMERGENCY situation and they kept making us wait! What if the ferret died while we were waiting? Take your pet somewhere else.

On the evening of May6th my 5 month old Airedale began to suffer pain when urinating. I took Tessa to the Veterinary Emergency Clinic and was greeted as if I had been going there on a regular basis. Our little girl Daisy had fallen off the bed and wound up with a high velocity rupture of one of her discs, resulting in paralysis from her upper back all the way down. Staffed by local and freelance vets for emergencies only on holidays nights and weekends. What a blessing on Christmas morning when out two boxers were sick. Needed exams and lab work done. Staff very friendly and caring.

Horrible place. Had a serious emergency and paid 85 for them to look at him and they didn't even say what was wrong and ik for a fact they didnt even examine him because they called him a she. Then I asked them to please hold him till morning so I could go to the bank cause I knew if I took him home he would die. And I figured I paid 85$ already they could have just held him. And they wouldn't and he died this morning.

Absolutely wonderful staff, very reasonable price. I would absolutely recommend using this clinic. I brought in our yorkie puppy for some emergency attention and everyone was delightful and very nice....

I brought in our yorkie puppy for some emergency attention and everyone was delightful and very nice. I missed the tech's name(had the tattoo of a red cross) but she was awesome, very informative both on the phone before I brought Zoey in and also when I arrived. Dr. McShaffry was absolutely awesome as well. He was also very informative of the situation and very nice. The overall price for everything out the door was very, very reasonable. I would strongly recommend using this office in the event of an emergency. Thanks again everyone from the clinic.

Milo, my big tom cat cut his leg. The staff was great and stapled him up quickly. One hopes to never have to use ER, but they were fantastic!

We took our one year old chihuahua here on a Saturday morning when she was sick. What a wonderful clinic! I have never felt so comfortable at a vet and my dog, who is afraid of strangers, loved the staff. They treated her perfectly and I wish they were a regular vet because they would be my first choice in this area. We also had to take our beloved beagle there on a Wednesday night when our vet was supposedly still open. She had died at home in the evening and our regular vet said it was too late for them to take her and to try the emergency vet. This clinic was so kind about taking our dog for cremation and their fees are very reasonable for all services. I've never been back to the vet who wouldn't help us when our baby, who was their patient, died, especially because it was during business hours. The emergency vet doesn't take appointments, but if your pet is sick, I highly recommend the Veterinary Emergency Clinic.

My puppy ingested something that could have become a serious issue such as a blockage... I called this emergency hospital and they were so quick to help and tell me coming in to make him vomit would be the best outcome for him. We went down and it was clean, quiet and everyone was so nice- the whole visit took about 15 minutes and the price was somewhat reasonable for an emergency at 10 pm. My baby vomited up the object and is now resting comfortably at home. Thank you thank you thank you! A + ... So good to know they are right around the corner from us

The staff was incredible. Very caring. I brought my 14 month old labrador in early this morning. She was very ill, dehydrated and had sepsis. They took extremely good care of her before we had to put her down. Don't understand some of the other reviews stating that they only care about the money, I was given options and truthful opinions on how to treat my baby girl. I know she is resting peacefully thanks to them. Hopefully I won't need to use them again, but if I do I wouldn't hesitate to call on them for help. Thanks again for being so good to Chloe.

We brought our elderly dog in when we came home from work to find her pale and lethargic. Unfortunately, we ultimately had to make the humane decision to euthanize her but I can say enough about the kindness, compassion and professionalism of the staff. The doctor gave us a clear and knowledgeable picture of what was happening and was supportive of our decision not to let out precious furbaby suffer. We were allowed to stay with her through her final moments and she passed peacefully in our arms. I hope that you never have occasion to need an ER vet but if you do, you won't find better care than here. I only wish I could use them for my primary vet because they are, in my experience, far superior to most basic care vets.

Horrible service. Had an emergency situation with my ferret. Was not happy about $50 exam fee (would charge even if nothing is wrong with ferret) but agreed to it anyway. Went in room, kept waiting for doc. Doc listened to heart and tested breathing, did nothing else. Seemed more concerned with figuring out how much $ to charge than to actually look at ferret/treat it. We left without finishing because we were there with an EMERGENCY situation and they kept making us wait! What if the ferret died while we were waiting? Take your pet somewhere else.
