I live in Stuart area and I took my 3 years old cat to a local veterinarian (Animal Care Extraordinaire) two different doctors diagnosed my cat with a terminal disease (coronary virus and the other Dr gave a different diagnostic that I don't remember what was it but I spent about 1k just in test and medications their response was that my cat wont last more than 6 months. My mother and I didn't give up, she did a research and found Dr. Borrego, and saw his background in helping When we took my cat Storm to him he touch her and he inmediatly notice what could be the problem - stone kidney and his diagnose was verify by the X-ray.

Dr. Borrego has been overseeing the care of my household's 2 dogs and 4 cats for over 5 years. They are always accommodating when I need I need to schedule sudden appointments for the critters. Dr. Borrego is a No-Nonsense, yet friendly individual who has the care of your animals at heart. I can see how this might rub some people the wrong way, but I personally find it refreshing. As for people complaining about the mark-up on medications, there is merit to their claims.Compared to online supply companies, this location does appear to have a markup on medications between 30-50% (in my personal experiences) depending on the prescription. "Brick and Mortar" companies can rarely compete with online supply chains, so I didn't find this surprising. With that said, the staff has never been reluctant to provide me the price of something when asked, and I've even done research right there in the office to see if it was something I didn't mind paying the premium for the convenience of it.

We have been bringing our pets there for several years. Dr. Borregos is an excellent vet with a very nice staff. He is knowledgeable, very nice and cares about your pet. I highly recommend this Vet.

The "free visit" that Dr. Borrego offers is just a ploy to get you in the door so he can find other things to charge you for. After the exam, I was given an estimate for $650. to clean my dogs teeth. Really ?? $650.? She better have gold plated teeth for that amount. After our visit, we did some research and discovered that Dr. Borrego has the reputation of being cold, uncaring and very money hungry according to others. I always read the reviews for this reason. Wish I had read them before I wasted a trip there. In closing, Your pet is not priority here. Only your wallet.

DEFINITELY not coming back here with any of my pets. Dr. Enrique Borrego is a bit of an ass. Really doesn't give you a REASONABLE price (I understand it's a medical facility). He over charged me for medication that I ended up getting from another vet pharmacy for HALF the price (or a little less) and when I asked for a prescription to get it from the other pharmacy he threw a fit. And then when I'm trying to make sure the order goes into processing he tells the pharmacist "not to go through with it." FIRST OF ALL. I do not care if I offended him for his overpricing but I'd rather get it from somewhere that won't charge me an arm and a leg and turns out it's the EXACT SAME MEDICATION. Thanks but no thanks. My pets will be looked at by an actual professional..

Not sure were some of the comments are coming from first off I checked with several Vets in PSL, and every single one required an examination before treating or recommending treatment. This is pretty much standard everywhere I have lived. How can you expect them to treat your animal without examining them? As for the exam cost I found them to be cheaper than all the other vets. I do think that the care is a little pricey, but animal care has become pricey across the board. I agree with the one reviewer that the office could use some updates.

Brought my dog here on his first birthday. He was acting sad and mopey so i figured he ate soemthing. He was a saint bernard we got with a health garantee. Turns out he had Addisons disease and needed steroids to function normally. When we found out he had a life long disease we asked borrega (the Vet) for a letter to show to the breeder to get the 2 grand we payed for him back. He refused multiple times for some reason. He wanted to do a test to confirm it was addisons. We were giving him steroids and he was doing great. He told us to not give him any steroids on Sunday (the day before the test on Monday). Sunday night he DIED. After talking to other vets they all told me u should never just stop giving steroids to a dog who needs them to function. Apparently death is a well know side effect to stopping steroid treatment like he told us to do. After I brought the body of my dog to him he finially agreed to write a letter. That was one experience I had with him. A couple other things why this place gets 1 star. It's the most expensive animal clinic In the state. I didnt realized realize how overpriced he was until I went to midway animal clinic in fort pierce. Also if u dont speak Spanish you will have a very hard time understanding what he is saying. His English is as bad as my Spanish. So if u want to overpay for a wrong diagnosis that u can Barely understand this is your guy. If u care about your animals at all give midway animal clinic a try. They are fantastic, they listen, and they are reasonable on prices. I would say they are half the price as borrega and they won't kill your pets. I hope this helps you decide not to go here.

I've been taking my pets to AGH for almost 3 years and Dr. B and all of the staff has been great. Dr. B is very knowledgeable and is able to pin point problems immediately and provide the correct care that shows instant results. You can tell he really cares about animals and their well being. The staff is just as helpful and friendly. When I go there, I feel like they are an extension of family who really care, which is a relief considering the stress one goes through when there is something wrong with their pet's health. Thanks AGH for providing great care and service!

I've called a few different offices in Port St. Lucie and Fort Pierce and even made appointments but ended up not attending them because I wasn't sure about some of the places I called. Right away I go off the attitude of the receptionist because I believe they're the face of the place and they kind of give me an idea of the veterinarians character. After talking to them on the phone to schedule my dogs an appointment I was more comfortable with them than any other place I've called. I actually went through with the appointment and was beyond satisfied with my visit. They are all so friendly. We also went in expecting to be charged crazy money for dental work for my 5 year old shepherd and dental work also requires anesthesia which I was extremely nervous about, but I was told her teeth are perfect and it wouldn't be necessary. This showed me that the veterinarian isn't just in it for the money, like most places. He also genuinely cared about the comfort of my dog and making her experience a little bit easier. This is coming from someone who doesn't trust many people with her babies. Thank you guys for being so good with the girls! -Kizzy and Shadow, the German shepherds

This is pretty much standard everywhere I have lived. How can you expect them to treat your animal without examining them? As for the exam cost I found them to be cheaper than all the other vets. I do think that the care is a little pricey, but animal care has become pricey across the board. I agree with the one reviewer that the office could use some updates.

Because I can't accept her blatant disrespect of a paying customer, I absolutely refuse to place my pet in the hands of a veterinarian who condones such a ridiculously low level of professional from his employee.

$50 office visit I think is steep especially for this area. In north jersey, (the most expensive everything!!!) vet office visits are $25-$40. Then i was given a bill for $300 if I wanted anything further done....which felt like an up-sale to me. All I wanted was palliative care for my elderly dog and I got nothing but ripped off in my opinion

Brought my dog here on his first birthday. He was acting sad and mopey so i figured he ate soemthing. He was a saint bernard we got with a health garantee. Turns out he had Addisons disease and needed steroids to function normally. When we found out he had a life long disease we asked borrega (the Vet) for a letter to show to the breeder to get the 2 grand we payed for him back. He refused multiple times for some reason. He wanted to do a test to confirm it was addisons. We were giving him steroids and he was doing great. He told us to not give him any steroids on Sunday (the day before the test on Monday). Sunday night he DIED. After talking to other vets they all told me u should never just stop giving steroids to a dog who needs them to function. Apparently death is a well know side effect to stopping steroid treatment like he told us to do. After I brought the body of my dog to him he finially agreed to write a letter. That was one experience I had with him. A couple other things why this place gets 1 star. It's the most expensive animal clinic In the state. I didnt realized realize how overpriced he was until I went to midway animal clinic in fort pierce. Also if u dont speak Spanish you will have a very hard time understanding what he is saying. His English is as bad as my Spanish. So if u want to overpay for a wrong diagnosis that u can Barely understand this is your guy. If u care about your animals at all give midway animal clinic a try. They are fantastic, they listen, and they are reasonable on prices. I would say they are half the price as borrega and they won't kill your pets. I hope this helps you decide not to go here.

I've been taking my pets to AGH for almost 3 years and Dr. B and all of the staff has been great. Dr. B is very knowledgeable and is able to pin point problems immediately and provide the correct care that shows instant results. You can tell he really cares about animals and their well being. The staff is just as helpful and friendly. When I go there, I feel like they are an extension of family who really care, which is a relief considering the stress one goes through when there is something wrong with their pet's health. Thanks AGH for providing great care and service!

Very friendly and knowledgeable Doctor. Two other places wanted to operate right away and see what was wrong with my dog... Dr. B prescribed medication instead and she made a full recovery!

I've called a few different offices in Port St. Lucie and Fort Pierce and even made appointments but ended up not attending them because I wasn't sure about some of the places I called. Right away I go off the attitude of the receptionist because I believe they're the face of the place and they kind of give me an idea of the veterinarians character. After talking to them on the phone to schedule my dogs an appointment I was more comfortable with them than any other place I've called. I actually went through with the appointment and was beyond satisfied with my visit. They are all so friendly. We also went in expecting to be charged crazy money for dental work for my 5 year old shepherd and dental work also requires anesthesia which I was extremely nervous about, but I was told her teeth are perfect and it wouldn't be necessary. This showed me that the veterinarian isn't just in it for the money, like most places. He also genuinely cared about the comfort of my dog and making her experience a little bit easier. This is coming from someone who doesn't trust many people with her babies. Thank you guys for being so good with the girls! -Kizzy and Shadow, the German shepherds
