One of the hardest things about relocating to a new part of the country is finding good health care for your pets. We are a family with four geriatric pets, and frankly, we were frightened and afraid of impending death for our 16-year-old Bichon,who went into seizures one week after we moved here. We had heard from relatives and neighbors about a wonderful vet clinic near us, and we were met at the door by a very caring staff member at 7:30 AM on a Saturday morning. We were made comfortable immediately. Luckily, this was not my sweet baby’s last day. From that traumatic experience, however, we have discovered the best veterinarian clinic around. Dr. Kelly has continued to take care of our special-needs family with professionalism, concern, and empathy. We cannot say enough about the loving staff. On November 20, 2017, My dog, Brandy had been lethargic, depressed and less playful as usual over the weekend and I made a same day appointment with Dr. Kelly - he was not my regular veterinarian, I had never been to him before, however he was the only one I could find that was available to see Brandy that same day and I was terribly worried about her on that Monday morning. Dr. Kelly drew blood and did a Snap pro test showing positive for Erlichia Canis (a tick-borne illness).  A titer test was not performed, so her levels of antibodies were unknown at that time and or if the infection was present or if she was just showing exposure to it. He ordered treatment for Erlichiosis.He prescribed/administered the following pharmaceuticals to my already sick dog:Bravecto (a pesticide to kill fleas and ticks - of which he told me I needed to "protect" my dog from further tick infections) Sentinel (another pesticide to kill fleas and heart worms and at that time, Dr. Kelly's own technician questioned him on doubling my dog's flea pesticides, to which Dr. Kelly was clearly annoyed at his technician for questioning him)(on a side note I would like to add this - if these pesticides are designed to kill fleas and ticks within 30 minutes and the pesticide circulates through your dog's bloodstream - WHAT DO YOU THINK THIS IS DOING TO YOUR DOG?)Dasaquin for jointsDoxycycline 150 mg 2 times a day for 21 days10 mg prednisone twice daily(Another side note to add is that my regular vet, does NOT carry or will not prescribe Bravecto to her patients and she also told me that NEVER EVER would she prescribe so many drugs at one time - especially to a sick dog.  There was absolutely NO NEED at that time to administer unnecessary preventives which are KNOWN pesticides to my poor sick dog - shame on you Dr. Kelly, I was a worried pet mom and totally trusted you to be the expert - now I know to do my research first and my due diligence).On December 5, Dr. Kelly's follow up blood work showed elevated liver enzymes, causing him to believe she had liver issues. So he put her on Denamarin (another drug) for liver support and ordered a fasting bile acid test which results from that were reported as elevated and Dr. Kelly then referred me to a specialist/internist.   After much research on my own, I came to the conclusion that BRAVECTO pesticide was the cause of high liver enzymes as her liver enzymes were in PERFECT order on her initial blood work taken at Dr. Kelly's on 11/20/17.  And I found much information where people were reporting adverse effects from flea and tick pesticides especially BRAVECTO, including MANY DEATHS directly from this pesticide. It's heartbreaking.  I talked to Dr. Kelly about this possibility, and he said "no way could it be the Bravecto, as Bravecto is very safe and I give it to my own dogs.  Now, your dog, Brandy has something sinister going on in her liver."  He reluctantly agreed to report it to the manufacturer of the pesticide, who is Merck and I also asked him to report it to the FDA.  I reported it to Merck and the FDA.  Upon examining the EMA's listing of adverse effects, I found Dr. Kelly's report on my dog, which did not include ANY of the symptoms I told him and Merck that my dog was experiencing.  This was what was in the report to Merck about Brandy "The vet does not believe that the blood work abnormalities are related to Bravecto, and instead thinks that there is another process in the liver going on like a mucocoele, shunt, or neoplasia."   Fast forward to February 23, my dog who is now near death - 5 or 6 vets and $20,000 later - my girl, Brandy had her spleen removed.  There was nothing wrong with her liver (2 biopsies on 2 separate surgeries just to make sure). Her blood work has since all returned to normal and she seems to have recovered well. I've since reached out to Dr. Kelly on several occasions to ask him to revise his report to Merck - but I hear nothing back from Dr. Kelly.  Now, the surgeon, my vet and the internist all agree that Brandy's condition was caused by the Bravecto. I compare administering Bravecto to playing Russian Roulette - keep on pulling that trigger ... some pets will show no side effects (YET) and some will die instantly.  The official numbers of the EMA as of May 4, 2018:Bravecto: 7964 reported serious side effects, 1782 deaths after administrationNexgard: 12,394 reported serious side effects, 745 deaths after administrationSimparica: 834 reported serious side effects, 118 deaths after administrationA PESTICIDE does NOT belong in or on the body of our pets.  For more info visit face book:Does Bravecto Kill Dogs - over 47,000 members of this face book page. Took my dog here and for several months I watched them treat my 9 year old dog for fissures. After months of medicine NOT working and $1000k the Dr finally says Oh your dog needs surgery - I asked all options and they told me the surgery would help fix the issues! “Oh and on the way out get your vaccines and a stool softener! “ Cha Ching! I TRUSTED YOUR OFFICE! I trusted it was just a simple fissure!!! Well, my 80lb pit bull lost almost 50lbs, couldn’t have a bowel movement, skin yellowed, lost all control over going to the bathroom - and before he could even see the surgeon Dr Kelly’s office referred us too - he had to be put to sleep - ironically by that very surgeon on an ER visit! Disgusted they never ever mentioned it could be cancer - or what my dog would go through. I would never even take an animal to this vet! They are all about money!!!! Disgusted and disturbed! Hope your happy you got all our money and let us watch our dog die over the last couple months! I want my money back and an explanation on why through all this NOT ONE PERSON CARED TO MENTION HE WAS DYING! UPDATE: Notice their responses to all negative feedback! They always have an excuse! Stay away! I promise they are clueless! I’m sorry you feel you acted with my dogs best interest but you neglected the signs and symptoms and collected money - I am so blessed you at least refer to a REAL surgeon who cares, she is the only reason I’m ok with my dog passing. I wouldn’t of wanted him anywhere else! Your office on the other hand needs to educate patients on AGE appropriate findings - and I have a pit bull - first sign was his weight loss! I've been bringing my dog here for a few months now and every time I go in, the lobby is jammed packed and the women behind the counter is miserable.  If you call them, be prepared to ALWAYS be put on hold for an extended period of time.  When you're finally taken off of hold, the woman on the line (the same one behind the counter) always sounds as if you are somehow an inconvenience.  The straw that broke the camel's back for me is that I dropped my dog off to be kenneled for a week.  I was told the surgery would occur upon drop off, however, when I went to pick my dog up they were planning to do the surgery on the day of pick up.  I was told this was policy - if that is the case, why was I told to have my dog fast the night before drop off?  Disorganized, rude, and unhappy staff.  I'll be driving 40 minutes to "Port Salerno Animal Hospital" where they care about their customers and the animals Read Less

In addition to health visits and urgent care, this facility also offers behavior counseling, dental care, grooming, and boarding services! Upon bringing our 17 year old cat to Kelly's Animal Hospital, we were immediately greeted and given paperwork to fill out. The waiting room was spacious and well maintained. Soon after arriving, the vet technician greeted us warmly and brought us back to the exam room and gathered additional information. From the moment Dr. Patrick A. Kelly walked in the room, we immediately felt as ease leaving our beloved pet in his care. Not only did he treat our cat kindly and efficiently, he provided us with additional information to ensure our cat remained healthy as she continues to age. I took Mimi , my four year old Chihuahua for her shots. Dr examined her says she needed her teeth cleaned and quote $250 . I took her a week later to have them cleaned. I received a call from the tec, like thirty minutes later. Was told she needed several extractions and that they extracted 8 teeth. I was in shock! Maybe she needed the extractions but, standard practice is to call the owner PRIOR to making the decision to do the extractions. I went to pick her up and the tech handed her to me. The bill was a few dollars short of $500 and I had to use a credit card because I was expecting $250 as I was first quoted. In summary: 1 Very unprofessional because the dr didn’t even bother to talk to me personally about my dog, I saw her the first time for the shot and that was it. She didn’t show up when I took my dog a week later and she didn’t call , but had her tech call me after the fact of 8 extractions . She didn’t talk to me about the procedure when I went to pick up Mimi that Day. She did charge almost $700 , $200 for the vaccine and exam and $500 for dental. If a doctor is so into seeing more pets, that cannot expend a few minutes with a pet owner to talk about a dental procedure the pet just had. As a last and very important point. Why didn’t you tell me my dog needed multiple extractions when you first examined her on my first visit?? We discovered Kelly's Animal Hospital after living in the area & going to other local vets for 11 years. What a huge difference! The levels of medical expertise and abilities here are truly first class. I can't praise the doctors and the staff enough. I wish I could literally hug every member of Kelly's caring wonderful compassionate staff, and it's clear that our furry family members love them too. They treat every furry client as if it's their own pet, and they treat us humans with just as much care. Other notes: The premises are spotless, their pricing is fair, and they don't over-sell their services like other vets do. They are affiliated with a wonderful 24 hr nearby vet office for after-hour emergencies, and they have a fabulous grooming department on-site. I requested a script for my Labrador retriever, that she had received once before from Kelly's animal hospital due to her itching problem. I found the exact same oral pill online for $2 per pill verses the $3 per pill that, Kelly's wanted to charge me for the exact same script. The office said that I had to come in and pick up the script as they were not able to authorize or email or fax it back to the online pharmacy as they have their own pharmacy. My girl needed the medication ASAP but they were not willing to cooperate in getting it to her. I told them that if they did not want to cooperate I would have to find a new vet. That did not seem to bother them. I will be searching for a new vet and I strongly recommend that if you are prescribed medication for your pet, you need to look online to find the best price! I’ve never written a review but you guys have definitely earned it ! On a Sunday afternoon my small pet became injured. I researched what could happen to them with big fall injuries & I honestly scared myself with the horrifying stories I read. I took action. I started calling different vets around Port Saint Lucie to see who was willing to work with my small pet. other places only did bigger animals & I even asked for them to guide me into the correct vet. I’m most likely sure they were lying but they denied their knowledge of other vets who worked with small animals. I’ve had pets before but never have I had to take them into care. Thankfully, petco guided me to Kelly’s animal hospital ! From the moment I called all the way down to when I walked out from my visit, i had an amazing experience. The tattooed lady at the front desk answered my call & comforted me about my injured pet . She helped me set up an appointment & told me the office visit price upfront. Upon my arrival, the wait time was very fair . Also love the fact that they called my pets name into the exam room instead of mine lol . As the doctor examined my pet , she was as gentle as could be . Thankfully, the prescription needed for my pet was very low priced . Not once did they try to offer me products I didn’t need just for the money which is literally the greatest relief. I was in and out the place within 30 minutes! All of it sounds silly for a small pet but not once was I judged My first visit ever to the vet & I had a great experience. Thankful for all the staff there not just the ones who helped me. I can tell everyone is knowledgeable being that multiple degrees were hanging high and proud on the wall. I can see you guys really care for both pets & customers who walk through the doors . A great place for animal care. I took my five year old mutt,who is very terrified of strangers and strange places into Kelly’s Animal Hospital and they were terrific. We take our chihuahuas here and they honestly treat them better that most families primary care physicians. They always follow up, and clearly care a great deal for every animal that comes through their doors. We boarded our 2 there for a week as well, price was reasonable (as long as your pets are up to date on shots), and they didnt seem shell shocked when we picked them up. Super cool giant dog at the front desk that looks at you like he is the wisest animal to grace the earth....very cool animal. The two ladies at the front counter are great to deal with and as a whole, this office is more that accommodating. Read Less

We just adopted a rescue Springer Spaniel/Pointer. We had previously been to Kelly's with an older dog and felt that the rescue would be well taken care of by Dr. Kelly and his staff. We made an appointment at a time that worked for us. Dr. Kelly and Josh (the vet tech) took the time to look over our rescue and took the time to explain what we should be doing and the shots we should consider. Dr. Kelly explained in detail the reasons for what he was suggesting. We also knew from previous visits with the older dog - that we put our trust in him to know what is good for our rescue's health. We have been bringing two dogs to Kelly's Animal Hospital for over five years!  Our beagle started with penis cancer mid 2017. After testing and results came back negative (cancer on the outside) Dr Kelly suggested we might want to think about two holistic types of medicines to prolong his life a little longer, we did.  It's been six months and the little guy, who turned 17 last month is doing well!  The staff has been pretty much the same so what does that tell you?  Dr Kelly and tech's will listen to you and your needs.  I highly recommend this vet.  Susan J Read Less

Brought my cat here who was suffering severe weight loss and no appetite aith sneezing. Other vet said he may have serious internal problems. Kelly Animal Hospital put him on an antibiotic treatment and in days he was eating agin and up and around. So far, very comprehensive, courteous, professional and reasonably priced. I'd been to cat only vets in eth past but this vet was not unreasonably loud with barking. I would go again and trust them with all my animals. Read Less

Since our move to Florida in 2005, Dr. Kelly has provided excellent and loving care to our pet dogs. Dr. Kelly always greets us with a warm and welcoming smile and his love for animals is apparent in the way he examines and handles our pets. He is so gentle, caring and devoted to providing the best care available at reasonable costs. Dr. Kelly's associate, Dr. Khodadad, is also an excellent veterinarian and provides the same loving and excellent care. I have taken my pets to Dr. Kelly's since 1997. I have in all those years, never been unhappy or dissatisfied. Dr Kelly himself cares so much for all the animals under his care. He treats my pets and myself like we are his family. Quite a few years ago I had to put a dearly beloved dog to sleep due to a terminal condition. Dr. Kelly stayed with me and cried along with me. I took my Siberian Husky here about a year and a half ago and I should've left a review A while back. I just got to say this place has the "Pitiful" staff I have ever met in my entire life, the doctor "herself" did not take her time or patience to even look at my dog, probably because it was lunch time, but regardless my Dog was severely sick, and was an emotional wreck to see my Dog dying in front of me. My dog couldn't even walk on her own, I had to carry her inside the hospital, when I got inside I have to sign papers which was not a problem. I had to wait an hour to see a doctor and they weren't even that busy to begin with I was just sitting there hugging & trying to talk to her telling her if she's going to be OK, she looked pale as the white cloud, the Doctor they gave her something that absolutely did not help whatsoever, and I had to help her get through the night, They didn't treat her illness, obviously this Woman needs her medical license revoked, go back to med school to learn her medicine right. I had to wait the next morning to get my dog to my General Hospital "Holy Family Vet" I usually take her and she's been going there since she was a pup, but I called & they was closed. My dog has been my therapy since I got done with 2 tours in 2010, and she's been the best therapy I have ever had in my entire life. I got her when she was only seven weeks old, she have eaten something outside my backyard, which brought me to Kelly's Animal Hospital. I'm giving this a one star review because these people feed on nothing but your emotions. When I did took my dog to her usual hospital the next day, the doctor was an older gentleman, he knew what he was doing, he actually got down on his knees and checked my dog head from toe and found something was going on in her stomach... he gave her some sort of injection and within a half an hour later my dogs color was coming back to normal and her appetite was slowing progressing. If you love and cherish your pet, I highly recommend you "stay clear" from this place they are highly unprofessional and uneducated. Which is why they deserve a 1 Star. Good day! Read Less

Our cats have been clients of Dr Kelly for over 10 years. Dr Kelly is very knowledgeable, compassionate, and realistic. As a medical professional myself, I appreciate his bedside manner and eagerness to educate pet owners on proper care. He has never been rude or over utilized testing . His office staff have always been accommodating and never have an attitude with anyone that I have seen in 10 years. I think people may feel that he recommends too much testing because they feel like it is overkill when actually it's pretty standard stuff. His prices are not inflated at all. Having a pet and monitoring their care is a costly thing, just like your own health care. It is even more important to provide these services for your pet because they can't tell you when something is off, or has changed and often hide discomfort and Illness. I have had the unfortunate Experience of a much loved cat who required multiple treatments and emergency surgeries and Dr Kelly provided impressive care. I always recommend him and enjoy the time he takes with me (I ask a lot of questions and am a bit high maintenance lol). Thank you Dr Kelly and your team for everything you do!! Easy to get an appointment. Was given an introductory informational packet about pet safety, vaccines, illness, and general care. Staff was friendly and efficient, and prices were lower compared with other vets in the area. I just called to ask a few questions and the person on the phone took the time to address concerns with my cat and make recommendations. Great service! Read Less

Dr. Kelly was great with my Maltipoo. He explained why he was treating her with certain meds and asked every question imaginable to help diagnose her. He is very adamant about not giving animals people food because it causes pancreatitis. I would highly recommend Dr. Kelly he really cares about animals. Read Less

Dr. Kelly is the most amazing vet I've ever met. He takes the time to explain what he is doing, why he is doing it, what to expect, and when to expect it. I love him!!! He is not afraid to wag a finger at you if you're not taking proper care of your pet...in my case, feeding my dog cheese for treats. Dr. Kelly's caring nature for the well being of ALL animals is most inpressive. His compassion is sincere and he is in it for the long run and strives to give each patient his undivided attention. I have two dogs, a rat and a bearded dragon. I have always been able to find care for my dogs but it has been very hard to find someone not only willing but someone that knows how to diagnose and treat my rat and bearded dragon. Dr. Khodadad, at Kelly's Animal Hospital, is just that person! She is very thorough and was spot on with both my rat and bearded dragon. We have used Dr. Kelly for all of our dogs over the past 25 years. We would never use anyone else. He has been superb in handling all of our problems. He has done surgery on my dog and I knew he was in the best of hands. Over this Memorial Day Weekend I had a potential emergency, our dog ate two corn cobs. Dr. Kelly answered my private messages on his holiday weekend. Even though he was very busy today he made sure I got in to see him at 8:30 this morning. I think other doctors would have just said bring your dog to the Emergency Hospital. Instead he ask questions and was gracious and caring enough about me and my dog. What a wonderful vet. I highly recommend him to everyone I know. I wouldn't ever consider going to any other vet for the lifetime of my pets. He is with you from puppy hood until your dog crosses the Rainbow Bridge. When we moved to PSL almost twenty years ago I checked around for the best vet in Saint Lucie county and Martin county. Always the name Dr. Patrick Kelly came up. I was used to the best in Dade and Broward Counties since I had imported working dogs from Germany which required a vet skilled in caring for their special needs due to the demand of the sport Schutzhund had on them and also for my other dogs and cats all of whom we love very much and wanted the best care possible. Dr. Kelly came through with all our beloved pets then as he does today. He and his staff have always been compassionate and professional towards their four-legged patients as well as to the humans who bring their pets in for care. Kelly's Animal Hospital is a great place to take your animals. They've been nothing but great to me and my dog. Dr. Kelly's been very accommodating and will even make house visits to give my dog medicine. They make you feel very comfortable and there's never any negative feelings. I would not give this place 1 star. I am sorry. Kelly almost killed my great dane when he had his office on Gatlin Bld in the 90's. Hopefully he changed for all of your pets sake. I will not call him a doctor. So it's just Kelly. Kelly called my house cussing me out. Had a friend harass me. People that go to him, Do you notice how many test and how expensive he is. Dr. Kelly is a caring, friendly, and trusted vet. We've had three cats, all of which were (and are) patients of Dr. Kelly's. He discovered a faint heart murmur in one of our cats during a routine yearly exam. This is one of the many reasons we bring our pets to him.
