I felt the need to give this veterinarian its well deserved harsh review. If i could give it 0 stars I would. Now I fully understand why it has so many terrible reviews, because I got to unfortunately...
I felt the need to give this veterinarian its well deserved harsh review. If i could give it 0 stars I would. Now I fully understand why it has so many terrible reviews, because I got to unfortunately experience it myself (well more so my wife).
So I set up an appointment 2 weeks in advance to have my dog spayed and the day that my wife took her to this place she is told that the vet that does the surgery got injured so they won't be doing any surgery today. No apologies or even sorry for the inconvenience. My wife was livid!!! Then the lady at the front desk has the audacity to say we called you and my wife says no you didn't call me if someone did call do you think I would've wasted my time driving over here and have been late to work?! Then my wife stormed out before things escalated.
So i implore whoever makes any appointment for their dog/cat to beware of incompetence on behalf of the staff of Big Bend Animal Hospital. Due to there neglectfulness we won't be taking any of our dogs there any longer.
In response to the owner, just to let you know not only is your staff incompetent but apparently they are liars too! Because I ASSURE you my wife went to Big Bend Animal Hospital at 11321 Big Bend Rd in Riverview, FL not any other clinic, if this was a review for another clinic I would've clearly stated that in the post. So please don't try to justify your staff's shortcoming by acting like this never happened.
Now that we are discussing other clinics I brought my dog to a different clinic who treated us with the utmost respect and courtesy, and most importantly handled my dog with extreme care and took extra precautions being the breed that she is. Additionally, at a more reasonable price than what Big Bend Animal Hospital was going to charge me to spay her. So in a ironic kinda way I'm actually glad that this happened because in the long run it worked out to our benefit. Maybe, the next person can learn from this experience. That's the entire purpose of this review so the next person doesn't have go through the same thing.

We take our dogs here for routine check-up and shots. One dog needs special diet food and they have it here. The vets are thorough and caring. The staff is great!

I originally took my dog there after she broke out in hives. They gave me an appointment the same day. When we go there, everyone was so nice. The vet is great. She gave us medication to help with the hives and they were gone within hours. Everytime I need anything they are there. The prices for exam etc. are not that expensive.

Her staff was very caring and did a great job taking care of the babies. Thank you guys so much for your hard work and dedication.

I went here for the first time today after hearing great things from my brother who takes his dog here. My kitten is 4 months old and seemed to be having some discharge from her ear so I decided she needed to go in. I called and was made an appointment for 4 hours later, much to my surprise! I was satisfied with the cleanliness of the facility and the niceness of the staff. I did not wait long at all before being seen once I had arrived. The technician and veterinarian were very thorough and gentle with my kitten. They examined her and concluded she had a bacterial infection in her ear. They cleaned her ear for me and gave her the first round of ear drops she would need. All in all I enjoyed my visit and had no complaints. I also received $10 off for being a new patient. Would recommend visiting!

When I called and asked for help cause it was an emergency they didn't even wanna help me.... that right there should say enough... never will I bring my dog there..

We have taken our dog Cosmo there for 3 years now and we cannot say enough good things about BIg Bend Animal Hospital. Their staff is excellent and the doctors are amazing. Highly recommended!

Just called Big Bend to try and have them see my pomeranian. We just moved to Covington Park and have not found a new vet. His bail must have turned and it was bleeding, nothing major but he is in pain and my baby and I wanted it looked at and remedied. The receptionists, after listening to me say the situation and that we are new in the area, made a point to tell me they were all booked up in appointments. Isn't a hospital also supposed to care for emergency situations?? Can't always plan an emergency around an appointment... it was until I pressed her I got well we could come in and wait to be fit in. Not an experience I want with my new vet on the first call...so I'm going to pass and find a vet that cares and is passionate about animals..not one that put emergency situations off because of lack of appointments.

I will not be going back. I ordered a 6 month supply of heartworm/flea medicine online and because it overlaps the time that he's do for his annual checkup, they would not approve the purchase. I personally feel like they are over priced but because of the convenience of location and the fact that I've been a LOYAL customer for some time, I just haven't changed. But I will now. Just looking for a way to make more money. Awful.

Great for shots not diagnosing problems. I have been taking my dog there since he was a pup in 2008. Have typically gone for shots only. Once they changed vets, care went out the window. It seems every time I took my dog for a problem visit I never got answers, just an estimate for other services. I took my dog there in August to report that he seemed to be having issues eating and was pawing at the right side of his face. It was blamed on tartar on his teeth and I was given a $600 estimate to clean them. They admitted the tartar was not severe. I passed. I changed him from hard to soft food and his eating improved. Early March his tongue began hanging out of the left side of his mouth. I took him back. The vet found no issue other than blaming the tartar again. I took him for a second opinion and they immediately found a mass the size of a dime on the right side of his tongue. They opened his mouth wide and there it was, clear as day. One week prior the vet at Big Bend found nothing. In fact she said he had normal tongue motion. The new vet, Southbay Animal Hospital, has recommended a biopsy. I called and told the desk person at Big Bend Animal Hospital of the findings and they promised to have someone call me. So far no call. I will never go back.

Money Hungry Vet, cares very little about your pet. My cocker spaniel had an appointment, vet said she had allergies. Ask for a prescription to buy the meds cheaper somewhere else. They want $30.00 to write three scripts on top of the office visit fee. We've been to quite a few vets and never have we been charged for writing a script. So if you can't afford their medicine, to bad for your pet. CASH before CARE. STAY AWAY. Go to Boyette Animal Care, much better service.
