Dr. Ott has taken care of my Cairn Terrier when I am in Florida for several years and she really hasn't had many problems,except for a constant infection in her right eye the last couple of years that goes away with drops but returns a month after the drops run out.Anyway I'm going to start taking my new boxer mix,Marley as well as my Cairn, Bonnie in the New Year for their shots and new tags and hopefully they can get rid of her eys infection or give me refills so I don't have to go every other month.I lov e her but I know what the problem is but they won't give me the antibiotic drops without a script.The biggest problem I have with all vets as well as Physicians is if you purchase the pet care product from them,they raise the price 2 or 3 times what I could get the exact same medicine for online.I love my pets,however I would go much more often if I were not fleeced on their medications.I have to go through a family members of friends in N.J. whose relative is a vetsimply to get the prescription filled for 25$,rather than 125 for a condition that is chronic and I check 4 times a week for it to return Read Less

I've been taking my dogs here for years. What started me going here was the fact that they own a dog park (free of charge - Ott's Off-Leash Sanctuary) and a no-kill shelter C.A.R.E. (Critter Adoption & Rescue Effort) both located in Ruskin. I figured, WOW, I've never heard of a vet's office doing this...most I have gone to were mostly interested in getting as much money as possible out of me and I usually never felt like they had my dog's best interest at heart. I had to send my elderly greyhound Bridget across the rainbow bridge yesterday due to bone cancer. Dr. Waldy made a difficult decision much easier by telling me I was doing the humane thing because she was suffering. He didn't try to sell me on amputation that would probably only result in her other front leg breaking due to the added weight stress or having the cancer spread into her lungs. She was already mildly sedated from having her x-rays. I knew it was the right time. I felt that he was caring and concerned about Bridget's important needs and had her best interests at heart...I greatly appreciate that. Of course, I stayed until the very end like I hope all pet parents would do. The entire good-bye process was caring and dignified and had my wonderful Bridget's best interest as the most important thing...just the way it should be when you take your voiceless beloved to the doctor. My first time here with my dog Candi 7/13/18 for urgent care treatment. I usually go to Lakewood Ranch a 5 star Vet hospital. I didnot feel like drivng that far yesterday. I find this place busy which means alot to me. My helper were Jay, Sharon and Dr. Langston. They did a great job with my puppy. The Vet was pretty rude when my girlfriend was getting our cat put down. He did good explaining what was happening, but seemed like we didn't know simple biology. I guess that might be good depending on who you talk to, but really. In the midst of the Euthanasia, he took this time to try and sell us flea treatment. Best vet clinic. I have been taking my pets here for 9 years. I have come for routine care. spay/neuter surgeries,medical emergencies to last good byes. the The staff is awesome from everyone at the front desk to vet techs to the vets. Every time I call or come I am treated with respect, friendly faces and a personal greeting. The girls at the front desk work are always willing to find me an appointment regardless of the situation. The techs are awesome and you can tell they... just love working with the pets and they understand how special that cat is to me. The decisions are not always easy and they are not always what I want but they understand that and let me be as emotional as I need to be. The vets are great especially Dr. Heaton. I always feel my cat is his top priority. He is knowledgeable, caring, and supportive. He always listens to whatever information and or story. I can and do laugh and cry with these folks and in today's impersonal world it is refreshing to have a place where the atmosphere is friendly, personal and caring. My granddog Moose was at the groomers and something happened I ran in to the clinic there they welcomed Moose with open arms and took very good care of my girl. I live in Plant City now, but will happily drive to Ruskin to continue using the Ruskin Animal Hospital. Dr. Heaton is an amazing, gentle soul and we wouldn't want to trust our fur babies to anyone else. He takes his time explaining his diagnosis and the various options available, and treats conservatively when possible rather than just trying to make money from us. We have brought our dogs there for a few years now. The staff and doctors are amazing! They are so kind and knowledgeable! Personnel were very empathetic in main office , in same building there's also a cat thyroid center. They treat cats for hyperthyroidism. These people are wonderful, they tell you everything about treatment, aske if any questions and answer all. They stay in touch daily , even take pictures. Would go again if needed, highly recommend. I took my German Rottweiler here for some chewy/ edible once a month flea medication. The staff were all great, very friendly and helpful, and knowledgeable, and you could tell everyone working there loves animals. This is an amazing place! We took our dog here several months ago when she had to be put down. Everyone who works there was so compassionate at that time. Horrible. . . I took my yorkie in here because when i got home from work my dog's right eye was filled with blood.. I was hopeful on the outset because when i called for the appointment they were able to see me shortly after. The tech took the temperature of my dog and weighed him and took notes on the information she asked of me. The vet came in and looked my dog over after shining lights in the dogs eye, he felt around the dog's body. . after enough time elapsed that justified the exam the vet looks at me and says. notice the quotes "i have no clue"... another vet looks at my dogs eye and says. . he doesn't know. . which is all fine and well because i know that sometimes, ya just don't know... but what's worse, is that they charged me $47 for "i have no clue"... this place is not a community animal hospital that aspires to uphold some noble mission statement like caring for the community's beloved animals in the most caring and professional way... NOT at all. . they are just a vacuum to suck your money from you so they "dr" in the white coat can drive home in his Audi... do they treat animals successfully. . yes. . they do. .and when that happens. . a bill of compensation is owed. . no arguing that. . but to take your animal here and all you get from them is "i have no clue" and a bill for $47 is absolutely ridiculous!!!!! Amazing team and great doctors. I do not live in the area but needed a veterinarian right away. I called and was told they had a full schedule but could see me with a wait time. I arrived within 10 minutes and was seen within 20. The techs were amazing and so helpful and the doctor just as great! I just moved to Florida, called this vet for a last minute appointment to have a suture looked at and they said come right in and they were able to squeeze me in. Very poor management. Every time my mother and I take our dogs, and her cat into the office, everything is so unorganized. The office seriously needs to hire new staff that get you in and out instead of just standing there looking dumb, just piddling around. Since most of these reviews are ancient history, I thought I would review my recent experience. I made the decision today to try another vet, after the second time in getting no response or call back from the office staff. Last week I needed a refill on Heartgard - they said they would call me back - after a couple of days, I called THEM back. When we picked up the Heartgard, we made an appointment for Gwen and asked for a pre-visit pill for her Gwen. (She resists treatment and needs a chill pill before her visit.) Still no call back from them. So this time instead of calling THEM back, I called ANOTHER vet. Dr. Waldy is a wonderful vet and very caring. It's just too hard to work with his office staff. They are not friendly, don't return calls, have the wrong information on Gwennie's record (i.e. she is not a Yorkshire Terrier), have billed me wrong and sent another invoice after I had paid for the visit, and once forgot to give me a prescription for an antibiotic that Dr. Waldy delivered to me. Oh, and they are not understaffed-there always seems to be 3 or 4 behind the front desk. If their prices were lower like a clinic, I would understand and cope, but her yearly visit runs around $275.00, certainly not clinic prices.Read Less

Dr. Langston is very calm and caring veterinarian. My dog had a mastectomy and he did a great job on treating my baby dog. I know Ruskin Animal Hospital is a busy hospital but he never get frustrated or annoyed even though we asked a lot of questions. Also, we never waited more than 10 minutes to see him unlike Fox and Friends Animal Hospital sometimes you have to wait more than a hour! I know mastectomy is a big surgery and my dog needed a lot of attention and Dr. Langston was always there for us. Price of the surgery was reasonable too. I highly recommend Dr. Langton to other people who are looking for a good and caring veterinarian. Read Less

When we moved to Riverview it was hard for us to leave our old vet. Our dog hated male doctors and was very particular. After our first visit here tiki fell in love with Dr. Waldy. We have been taking tiki here for over 5 years and love it! We also board her here often due to work travel and there is no better place I would let her stay. She loves it and I know she will be well cared for. She is old now and it means the world to us that she is happy even when we are gone. Read Less
