I rescued a dog from it's previous owner on April 14th 2018 and was told I would need to transfer the wellness policy that was binding till December 2018. Both Banfield and the previous owner told me this. Then I was told by Becca at Banfield it's not transferable but I would still need to continue paying since it's a 1-year contract. So I switched the policy to my credit card. I went in last week with my dog, Rosie because my dog was sick with loose stool, wasn't drinking or eating, and had lethargy and was told by the vet tech, "she's fine - she's on the mends". She was still having diarrhea a week later so I called and was told I am not the policy holder and to quote, "you just pay the bill" and therefore can not receive any information about your dogs health. They told me I should have never put down my credit card and that I wasn't entitled to have her treated without the previous owner, who is no longer in the picture. I was so upset I took her to another vet only to be told, "you may have brought her in just in time, she's not on the mends, she has Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis (HGE) and that is pretty serious. I had to leave my dog for 36 hours with this new vet and I called Banfield and told them the entire story. They didn't seem to care and had a very apathetic attitude, and told me to call corporate and hung up. I called their corporate office and spoke with another Becca, and was told, "this policy is not transferable, I'm sorry someone allowed you to put down your credit card, it was wrong of them, and you just pay the monthly fee, you do not have access to the actual benefits". They continued, "it maybe your dog, but not on paper it is not, you need your own policy". The girl on the phone then suggested I go to my bank and cancel automatic payments. She added the previous owner had services done on April 9th, before I took ownership and never paid so technically she is still in debt to this policy and they would notify her and not me. She advised me, "the previous owner is the one liable for this binding contract so technically you could go to your bank today and cancel that card"! So that is exactly what I did since it's NOT transferable. And, I will no longer ever use this vet or recommend them to anyone. At this point, I just hope my dog is ok and makes a healthy recovery. What type of vet sends an animal off and tells the owner, "They're on the mends" when in reality, they're VERY sick ? So horrible. Read Less
