Ive been bringing my sweet greyhound Tim here for a while now for a variety of services. Most recently, teeth cleaning. for those of you who don't know, greyhounds require extra special care while under anasthesia as the risks are high with this breed. These guys know what they are doing as they deal with greyhounds a lot. There were three other greyhounds there for dental work the same morning when I was dropping Tim off. All was well and smooth. And pearly white not to mention. The staff are a delight, they care greatly, they are always smiling and joking when appropriate and express empathy when needed. They are very respectful and genuinely care for my dog as if he was their child. All my questions are always answered to satisfaction. Dr. Sanders is one super intelligent, compassionate Vet. He spends an incredible amount of time with his patients and owners. He is very detail oriented & offers to share a great deal of information. I am so impressed each time I visit him with my family's aging Daschund. Yesterday I brought in my personal sidekick, an Agapornis Parrot & was introduced to Dr. Janel Dowling. When I brought my VERY senior dog in I thought I was going to have to put her down. Bayshore provided perfect care. My first experience with Bayshore was when I adopted a dog and he became very ill very soon after. I had just moved to the area and had not established with a vet yet. As I called one veterinarian office after another in desperation, I kept getting the same rejection: Sorry, we only have time to see out current clients today€that is until I called Bayshore. I was told to go ahead and to bring him in right away and they would take care of us, the front office staff didn€t even have to ask the doctor- just said they would help. When we got there they realized how ill he was and a client even said to go ahead of them. Dr. Dowling took excellent care of us during a very difficult time. My pup received excellent medical care, and she was there for a very difficult decision in the end. She offered all the options available, allowing me to make an informed decision. Dr. Dowling was very supportive, along with the rest of the staff. Bayshore now has the care of our whole furry family, my kitty and my large pup. I have seen Dr. Dowling and Dr. Wehrmann, both of who are wonderful. They always answer all of my questions allowing me to make informed decisions. Great medical care requires good communication and confidence in the care givers above and beyond medical knowledge: I know as I am a physician. Bayshore offers all of this and more. I have never felt pressured to purchase a certain product and feel comfortable asking regarding anything about my animals including training, kennels, grooming etc. They work with you as part of the team and take the whole picture into consideration, always giving you options. This is a small, privately run hospital with a small town/family feel, including staff who obviously enjoy their work. But don€t let that deceive you; they have anything you would need in house - radiology, pharmacy, etc. I pass four vet offices on my half hour drive to Bayshore, several of which are the ones who refused to see us as new clients, even in an emergency. Dr Wehrmann is the best! Our three month old Moluccan Cockatoo was just not eating well, losing weight and just not acting like herself. Dr. Wehrmann took the time to really listen to us, didn't just assume we had a feeding problem and did some blood work. The blood work revealed that she has a infection. He also gave us some great advise about slowing things down and letting her just be a baby. We started her on antibiotic and did everything that he recommend and are so happy to report that Skylar is doing so much better. We cannot thank him enough for the excellent care. Read Less

Recently I took my Corgi, Mr. Picklesbottom here for an exam and inquiry on tooth extraction. He's had a broken molar for quite sometime. I didn't get it removed around the time of fracture because my current vet gave me an estimate between $700 - $800. That wasn't something I could afford. Yes, I did look into financing and pet insurance options as well. I ended up looking on Yelp after a few friends had told me about Bayshore. I was surprised to see they were ranked #1 in the Saint Petersburg area. I ended up scheduling a visit online and on the same day received a call to confirm the appointment. I came in on a monday. We saw Dr. Dowling. She was very nice and knowledgeable. The main concern I had was the extraction of the tooth for my Corgi and mentioned to Dr. Dowling about my concerns with affordable surgery. She did inform me since the 4th molar is the largest tooth in the jaw, it usually is the most costly due to the complications with removal. Then she and her staff gave me an estimate. Shockingly, the estimate was much lower than our old vet. She went on to clearly explain what all was needed for my Corgi during the time of surgery and post surgery. I told her, I'd have to think about it. There were no pressure to have it done. Five minutes later, I scheduled to have the extraction done on Thursday of that week. Not simply because I was given an affordable option but because I felt I was treated fairly and most importantly of all, the staff truly cared about Mr. Picklesbottom. Mr. Picklesbottom had his surgery that Thursday morning and I picked him up that evening. I thought he would be out cold when I saw him; However, that wasn't so. When they brought him out, he ran to me and basically said lets go for a walk! (his favorite past-time) I couldn't tell he had surgery. They took such wonderful care of him! I work for a company called Airbnb. We have a department that is called Customer Experience, not Customer Service. Our jobs are to listen, educate and help. All of which mean nothing if we don't care and build the experience for our Community. By building the experience I mean, let's put aside profit and change a bad experience into a good one. Those that truly care will put profit aside for the well being of others. They do exactly what I do. Mr. Picklesbottom and myself can proudly say that we have a new vet. Thank you, Ms. Dowling and the wonderful staff at Bayshore ! By the way, almost a week after surgery, Mr. Picklesbottom is doing very well. He's happier than ever! Called this morning, phone was answered on the 1st ring by a bright cheerful Glenda, told her my dog was in bad shape and she told me to come on down and they would work me in, I took my dog in within 30 minutes and no appointment, and was seen within the hour. We had our first visit here for our cat's exam and vaccinations this morning. It was night and day compared to our previous vet. Everyone was so sweet and caring. The way they handled our cat was excellent (especially considering he can be a bit difficult) and the whole place had a calming effect for pet and parent. The doctor was great, and gave us good advice and suggestions without it being overwhelming. It's a shame when going to the vet feels more like a huge sales pitch. But not here. Bayshore Animal Hospital has a wonderful staff of caring professionals. It is clean and the accommodations for my pets are top notch. When traveling, my pets have stayed at the hospital and they always come back very clean and happy. My dogs, Millie and Pippen love coming here. There are outdoor areas to exercise and they get a lot of attention. They even have a separate quite area in the hospital for my older cat Stella to stay stress free. Their team is very knowledgeable about birds and have helped my chicken recover from falling over the seawall. They offer cold laser therapy too.
