I cannot say enough about Northeast Animal Hospital. I was at Blue Pearl with my dog Ozzy on Friday night till midnight. They weren't going to be able to do anything till Saturday anyway, so I decided to wait and go to back to my vet of over 20+ years (NE Animal hospital) on Saturday morning. I saw Dr. Ginger Benham, she is AMAZING!! It turned out that he needed emergency surgery, Dr. Mark Scibano came in on his day off to perform the life saving surgery. Dr. Benham called me every 20 minutes to update me as to how it was going. At one point we all thought he may not survive and that he may have been to far gone. But Doc worked his magic and my Ozzy survived and is doing well. He is home with us and is recovering well. I Thank You all at NE Animal Hospital. The staff are exemplary, they all went above and beyond to help us. I have been going there for as I said 20+ years, I would not go anywhere else unless it was an emergency and had no other choice. Dr. Rachel Klemawesch is also a miracle worker. I don't know what I would do without them. If I were you and reading this, I would make the apt, go see one of these amazing doctors. When I picked up Chance, they answered all my questions & gave me a book w/ all Chance's x-rays of his teeth! I was AMAZED! They (Doc's) shared great knowledge of the dental procedure w/ me! I have Chance stay here in a condo for a few days when I leave town, knowing he is receiving the BEST CARE! I call each day to see how he is doing & I feel secure. They make time to play with him also! The young ladies & men in the office are AMAZING also! Its quite nice to see Boo Boo, the office cat, laying beside them in his happy place. The whole place is warming to the heart! I have much trust & faith in all they do here at NE Animal Hospital! Read Less

This place is super expensive. I just spent $60 for them to weigh my dog and give her a $25 booster...and they made money on the shot as well. Many people complain about the price for good reason. They're OK vets, but they still charge you for their trial-by-error ways. It's not like they get it right on the first try. They make more money the more you go there. I'm sure they all care about animals as much as any other vet. They just also like to charge a lot more. Their version of nickel and dime is fifty and hundreds. Read Less

Dr. Maedel was so incredible with me and my Oreo the other day, that I felt we were totally enrobed with love. Though my boy is a year and a half sick with cancer of the spleen and intestinal lining, Dr. Maedel makes certain to point out what is going so well with him, and I know that no one would be able to treat us better than does she. Stopped at Trader Joe's a bit later that same evening and talked for a long time with an employee about our animal family members. Such caring and wonderful doctors and staff! I arrived without an appointment, scared and nearly in tears, anxious about having to hospitalize my kitty for the first time. They made me feel at ease and called me at work to give me a status update and explain the situation. Normally, vet visits have my cat curled up in a ball, cowering and shaking in fear, so I was expecting to pick up a frightened little furball. However, when I arrived to pick my cat up from a long day in the hospital, she was perky, happy, playful, and affectionate! She clearly received the best of care, and I am so, so grateful. I highly recommend Dr. Hillary Maedel and the wonderful staff here to any cat parents out there looking for a new vet. They are a bit pricey, but to me it is worth it! Read Less

My dog has been going there for the past 3-4 years, until just recently. Now that Dr. Gallo is gone, I have no reason to go there anymore and it isn't because of the veterinarians that got the two stars, it's the office staff! Both of the managers (Andrea and Paula) are some of the nastiest women I have encountered and it really is a shame because the people that actually handle the animals have been pretty great, especially Dr. Gallo. If you can deal with the office staff being rude, aloof, and just uncaring in general so you can see Dr. K (another amazing vet that still works there) and the rest of the great doctors and nurses, then go for it. The front desk staff was pretty friendly but could improve on knowledge. If you have questions, be sure to speak to a vet tech and not the front desk staff. Northeast Animal Hospital is an exceptionally good veterinarian office. I brought my cat there because they are close by my home. I was so impressed with the quality of care and service from the moment I first called to inquire with them to the moment I left their office. Nicole was so kind and helpful when I first called and patiently answered all of my questions. She greeted us warmly upon arriving for our appointment. The wait was minimal. Dr. Gallo and the wonderful vet tech treated my elderly cat for hyperthyroidism with utmost caring. They also treated me with compassion and kindness as well and took time to respectfully explain everything I needed to know and made no attempt to sell anything that was not absolutely necessary. I intend to bring all of my pets to Northeast Animal Hospital from here on out. I have experienced several veterinarians in the area and this experience has been the best. Affordable, professional, knowledgeable and kind. Thank you! Update: I have been taking my cat to Northeast Animal Hospital for several months now for his hyperthyroidism. The treatment he has received has been excellent- everything from his nails getting trimmed and his ears being cleaned complimentarily while visiting for his checkups to the knowledgeable prescribing of his medications by both Dr. Gallo and Dr. Jarrett. The technicians are great at their jobs and care about the animals and their owners. I had the opportunity today to meet Dr. Jarrett and I want to update my review to include another extremely positive experience with this vet office. My cat's health is declining due to his age and several serious issues. I am not able to provide him with high level cancer treatments. It has become apparent his time is coming to an end here. I am touched and deeply appreciative for the time and compassion given to me at the appointment today. Dr. Jarrett took a generous amount of time to sit with me and explain at length all of our options and ways to keep my cat comfortable. She was honest about his prognosis and extremely gentle in relaying a sensitive subject. I was in no way pressured to treat my cat to measures I can not afford, but instead I was comforted and given valuable information about compassionate ways to proceed that are within my budget. I am so thankful and impressed with Dr. Jarrett's knowledge, professionalism, and compassion. Thank you for turning a painful and stressful situation into a healing and empowering experience for both myself and my pet.Read Less

I loved Dr. Sutton, so sad she moved to Central Animal Hospital! She actually seemed like she genuinely cared about the animals. Dr Scribano and Dr. K seem so bored with their job and the animals.... The other vets and staff are not pleasant and do not always have the best bedside manor. Many do not even introduce themselves or what their role is. The front office isn't pleasant to deal with either. I scheduled an appointment for Lyme vaccine and I arrived and was told that "we no longer offer it" I said that I will have to transfer practices then and the tech goes in the back and suddenly finds the vaccine. A few minutes later I hear the techs in the back talk about having to run 2 doses of Lyme vaccine STAT to their doggy daycare clinic ---but they told me they no longer carry it....? A few years ago, when I asked if I could price match a tick and flea med, I was told they don't do it because other pharmacies like 1-800 PetMeds aren't reliable and will send me expired product----NOT TRUE! Very very expensive clinic. They nickel and dime you for everything. Expect to pay at minimum $200 for every visit. They also scheduled vaccines for 2x a year so you have to pay the $46 office visit fee twice. Not happy with this practice, always bad vibes. I have owned many animals and have made many vet visits and never had bad experiences. Will be changing vets. Read Less

I took my cat there in August. He was diagnosed with asthma. The doctor were extremely cryptic and vague with everything. Just getting the inhaler and medicine was a huge task. All I wanted to know was the best place to order everything and asked them exactly what to order (name of meds correctly, dosage, etc). They just told me to google it. I must have called back 3 times until I spoke to a nurse that was very informative and gave me a website to buy the inhaler and a number for Canada drugs. I was completely appalled by their customer service, considering all I was asking was merely where to buy his medicine/ inhaler. Once I received everything in the mail no one told me how to use the inhaler until I finally had to beg a nurse to show me what to do. He wasn't even my vet, but he took me into the room and showed me how to hold the cat and pump the inhaler. No one ever told me to hold the inhaler there for 10 seconds, so for about 6 months I wasted hundreds of dollars on medicine and office visits. Once my cat wasn't getting any better I decided to switch vets and went to pinellas animal hospital. Within 1 day (I repeat ONE DAY) my cat was better and fortunately has been. The new vet showed me how to use the inhaler and to my astonishment I had been doing it wrong the entire time. After I found this out I immediately called the owner of northeast animal hospital to address this issue. I simply requested my money back for the 2-3 office visits since I didn't even bother asking for my X-ray money back and knew I the money for his medicine was down the drain. He talked in circles and told me he would call me back and never did. Please take my advice and check out pinellas animal hospital. During the 6 months with northeast animal hospital I didn't receive one call to see how my cat was. Being a business owner I value customer service over everything. Finding solutions to people's problems is a fundamental element when running a business. I am surprised they are still in business.Read Less

I had a great experience at this office. I had to take my cat in for an emergency (he was barely breathing) and called first. They were about to close but told me to come in. They got him stabilized very quickly and handled the urgency of the situation very smoothly and professionally. I was very emotional and Dr Gallo was great and helped put my mind at ease. She was sympathetic not only to my cat's bad health but also because of my financial worries. She did only the bare minimum of services needed to get him stabilized without pushing additional services I couldn't afford. She called Blue Pearl (the E/R) to set up the transfer and also explained to them what I wanted so they wouldn't try to talk me into unaffordable treatment either. The vet techs were great too...very helpful in explaining things and even let me take a cat carrier with me since I didn't have one. I'd highly recommend Dr Gallo and Northeast Animal Hospital! Will be changing vets.Read Less

Dr Scribano owns and operates Northeast Animal Hospital (as well as Pets in the City).   The practice includes several vets and a large support staff.  I have taken my pets there for the past 15 years and I gladly pass many other vets to get there.  Dr Scribano's professionalism and compassion are exhibited by his entire team - from the folks that greet you in the friendly environment to technicians that will be involved in the care of your pet. They understand what your pet means to you and you'll feel like your pet is their favorite.  I trust him - he has never recommended unnecessary procedures and he has offered guidance in making decisions involving my pets.  I strongly recommend Dr Scribano and his team. I didn't do this, I went to my Ocala vet which our families animals have been seeing for now two generations, they informed me that putting him under would possibly kill him, given his other issues, and that his teeth were fine.Plain and simple.....Greed.Buyer Beware. First of all- I will confirm what others have said. Yes, they're expensive. But, they're worth every penny.I've worked at another vet office and had another vet in another city before ending up at northeast animal hospital with Dr. Scribano. While I can't speak to all the vets there, I've visited with Dr. Scribano many times. This guy truly, truly loves and cares about animals. He has always been awesome during appointments. He will sit down on the floor with my boxer and pet her the whole time we are talking. We just had a procedure done there today, and it was costly, however I truly would have been terrified to have her in anyone else's care. Dr. Scribano called me before the procedure and went through multiple concerns he had and spent all the time needed on the phone to address any worries or concerns. He called after hours to check up on her and see if she was feeling and acting ok. My dog is like a child to me and I think he was more worried about her than I was, and that's saying something.I have never felt "nickeled and dimed" here! I've never felt pushed to buy anything. Dr. Scribano has actually said multiple times that he thought things weren't absolutely necessary and that we could hold off on the expensive stuff, or try to wait and have all issues addresses under one time of anesthesia so we weren't paying for multiple procedures. They're pricey, yes, but the care (at least with Dr. Scribano) is amazing. I have many friends in the area who take their pets to other 'cheaper' vets, and they end up paying the same as I do after all of the corrective surgeries after the first ones were botched and unnecessary visits due to misdiagnosis. Just saying! Also- they take pet assure!!! Score. It paid for itself after 2 visits and made everything much cheaper, just a tip! Read Less

I'm torn about this place. First the good. The vets are pretty good, except for an exam that my dog needed from a specialist because of NE's misdiagnosis, they have been pretty good. With everything else they did seem really insightful into my pets health and wellness and were able to tackle most of their issues. Second the staff is pretty friendly and attentive and they do a good job of making you feel welcome. The location and facility is ideal. Nice office and exam rooms, and right off 4th near my house. The bad. This place is expensive. Every time I take my dog in its always over $100 even if it's just a wellness exam, also they can't seem to coordinate their records well. I have been in there before for an exam only to get an email a few days later to remind me to bring in my dog for a vaccination. If they would just check their records when I make an appointment we could get it all done in one visit, instead I have to go back several times, which leads me to the next section. The ugly. On top of having to go back the time after time, I feel nickeled and dimed every time I'm in there. For example, my dogs have sensitive skin, was told to use a particular shampoo that they sold me. So I used it and it worked great, when the bottle ran out I looked on amazon for the same shampoo and was able to find a shampoo with the same formulation for half the price. I have since used the shampoo and it works great on my dogs. Same story for medicated wipes (found them for about 40% less than what they charged). Along the same theme of nickel and dimeing they recently tried to sell me a wellness plan. The vet was not comfortable about talking to me about price or specifics of what each level of the plan offered. She had her assistant email me a price quote for the "gold" level but never said what the gold level included or what the price and benefits of each level were. I returned this email with a myriad of questions and have not received a reply now several business days later even though I need this information to decide how to pay for a procedure that my dog needs. As stated before attentiveness and timeliness are not the staffs strong suits.I may or may not continue to go to this vet. I am shopping for a new one but don't just want to find a sub standard vet because of a lower price point. Overall if the vets were awful I would give this place 1 star. It seems to me if I'm going to be paying excessively for the care that at least the support staff could be better to make me feel like I'm getting what I pay for. Read Less

After searching St. Pete for a vet for my new rescue puppy, Mack, I decided to try Northeast. I was impressed from beginning to end. When I called to inquire about an appointment time and pricing, Nicole was amazing. She was able to answer all of my questions and got us in that evening.Upon arrival, the facilities were spotless, the staff not just polite, but friendly and engaging. Once shown to a room, the tech, Katrina, was pleasant as well. We were seen by Dr. Schmidt. He was thorough, friendly and unhurried. He didn't just examine Mack, he took an interest in his training, my thoughts on prevention and all things puppy! Their pricing is reasonable, they offer a wellness plan (definitely beneficial for puppy's first year) and they also offer a free exam if your pet is a rescue. What's not to love about this place? Mack and I are looking forward to a great relationship with them. Read Less

After three years, knowing it's overpriced, I continued to use NE.  Non-doctor staff is great and the location is good.  Scheduled a small tumor removal, for which the charge was going to be $800.  Arrived a 8:15 am and the pickup time was given as 4:20 pm.  Was told I would receive a call when out of recovery.  By 2:15 having not heard anything, I called.  Three calls go to voicemail only.  Finally the 4th call is answered, and I am told the dog has not yet been operated on.  It was next, which if the surgery started at even 2:30 (it was a 30 minute procedure), the dog would be picked up approximately 1 hour after surgery. Then should anything go wrong, they would be closed and I would have to find an emergency facility.  For $800 I fully expected NE to have the dog under observation post surgery for more than 60 minutes.  Picked up the dog, and found far superior experience. This place is top-notch.  The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive.  They truly seem to love animals.  The facilities are clean and the atmosphere is calming, not clinical.   Dr. Sutton gave my dog an intensive check-up, and I didn't feel like she rushed like many vets do.  She asked a ton of questions, and answered all of mine patiently and thoroughly.  I felt my dog was in great hands here.  However, the wonderful staff and facilities don't come free.  I would definitely not call this the most affordable clinic I've ever been to.  Examples: -My dog's checkup, she was determined to have an allergic reaction requiring an antibacterial spray.  (I still suspect I could have used something from the drug store, but oh well.) All told, the basic checkup and spray cost $75. -During my dog's checkup, they told me she would need 2 teeth removed.  I asked for a quote, and received one via e-mail.  Points for speed and attention to detail on the quote.  However, it was $600-800.  The last time I had her knocked out for dental cleaning and work (two BIG teeth removed), it was $300.  Obviously there will be different variables in cost, but that is a pretty steep price tag.  I haven't spent that much on my own teeth since I had braces! Our two cats have been (pretty much) constantly sick since we moved to St. Petersburg in July. In dealing with that tough situation, I could not feel more fortunate that we found Northeast Animal Hospital.Every aspect of the operation is top-notch. The staff, beginning with the initial phone call, is helpful and compassionate. They work to calmly assess the situation and to get you in for an appointment as quickly as possible. The hospital is set up to allow dogs to enter on one side of a dividing-counter and to all cats and exotic pets to enter on the other side. This simple division really helps to calm the tension that arises at other vet offices. While at the office, the entire staff (including the veterinarians, themselves) works to calm and coddle the animal, so as to make the experience as positive as possible. Also, the veterinarians and the vet techs are incredibly knowledgeable, and will patiently explain any and all issues throughout the visit. I would highly recommend Northeast Animal Hospital for any and all veterinary needs. It is a fantastic operation! Read Less

I personally can't deal with it anymore.Read Less

I have been going to them for some time now. Last year my building was tented for termites. I boarded my kitty Molly for the duration. They called me after a couple days and told me she was stressed out and had stopped eating. That if I could come visit her it would probably help. I came right in and they arranged an empty exam room for us to visit in. I wad told to take as much time as I wanted. The next morning they called to tell me she was eating and socializing again. To me it was a great show of compassion and attention. Since then, I've always been happy with both the doctors and staff. They've got us for life. Read Less

I brought my two 1 year old cats here for their annual checkup. The vet tech and vet were both very sweet! The room was clean and we were in and out pretty quickly! The front desk staff was pretty friendly but could improve on knowledge. If you have questions, be sure to speak to a vet tech and not the front desk staff. They called a few days later and said that my cats have Hookworm. I'm not sure how they could have gotten it but I have to trust they're telling the truth. They filled the Rx I needed and sent me on my way. In my experience so far, they've been very affordable compared to other places! I paid about $190 for both of my cats to get all their vaccinations and checkup - including a stool sample. Parking is a bit of a mess but that's typical downtown St. Pete.

Read Less
