I've been taking my pets to skyway since I've lived in Florida, so over 20 yrs. Kind, common sense approach to pet care. Many of my friends use skyway,have w and they have seen my friends pets on an emergency basis a few times as well! Everyone at Skyway was so good to my dog Clancy. We boarded him several times and he especially loved Joyce. Joyce went so far above and beyond on caring for him that I don't know where to begin. She sent me text messages and reassurances, and took my calls when we were out of town and worried about him. I knew she was taking care of him as if he were her own dog. Clancy was elderly and when he began having severe health issues, all the vets were very kind and thoughtful. We wouldn't go to another vet and we won't board our pets anywhere else. Read Less

Very rude office personnel. When called to ask about flea medication that would be best for my dog Wanda in the office wouldn't let me get a word out edge wise before she rudely cut me off every time and then mid sentence hung up the phone. Previous experience with office staff has been very similar. They should treat their customers a lot better epically seeing how over priced they are for their office visits and shots. I will be headed to Gulfport vet! Much friendlier service for half the cost. Read Less

Even when the news was the worst news, the staff was amazing. Our famiy has been taking our dog's and a few cat's to Skyway for over 40 years. Their treatment of our fur family has always been excellent from basic boarding, annual check-ups to illness. This is probably why we are 3rd generation customers. Read Less

We evacuated from Merritt Island to St. Petersburg for Hurricane Matthew with our three dogs and two cats. When we arrived, there were two more dogs. Friday morning we decided to board our pets so there would be less confusion. We took them to Skyway Animal Hospital in St. Petersburg. All five were given a physical before they were put in cages. We knew they would not come out of there sick! About an hour later, we were notified that the bridges were opening. We went back to pick up our pets two hours after we dropped them off, fully expecting to pay for a full day's board for each of them. We were told there was NO charge. The staff even helped us put them in their crates and carriers. Other than no damage at home, that was the nicest thing that happened to us. If anyone is in that area and needs a vet or to board, please consider Skyway Animal Hospital!Read Less

This is a very nice place, although does not look like it on the outside. Pleasant experience, they even gave us a bag of samples. Despite this, they charge way too much for shots and gave our cat antibiotics meant for dogs. Read Less

ALLLLL the way from Niagara Falls Canada....There was a bad doctor up here that has a company by the same name, he did terrible things and is now out of business. This company in Florida started getting the hate because they shared the same name ONLY....a case of mistaken identity. The great loving people from Florida handled it with patience, love and care. MANY people who are customers came to their support immediately which PROVES that they have done great work and are recognised for that. Keep up the great work. Read Less

Skyway was recommended to us by one of the directors of the rescue we adopted our first greyhound from (this is where he takes his own dogs). What a difference this place is compared to the vet that rescue uses for its foster dogs! Fair prices, excellent knowledge, and above all the health of the dog clearly comes first. Dr Povis is an excellent vet and definitely cares about his patients. Having complete confidence in him and Skyway, gave us the peace of mind to rescue another greyhound. Dr Povis is the type of vet who puts animals ahead of ego, will consult with colleagues on problems, refers to specialists when necessary, and calls you at home to follow up on your pet's care. He obviously and genuinely cares about your pet's well being. The staff here are fabulous as well. I would recommend them to anyone. Read Less

I took my English Bulldog to this vet on 12/12/2014, which was a Friday. The vet that we saw is a "stand in." His name is Dr. Povis. The treatment that we received was awesome from the vet tech's to the vet himself. The MOST impressive thing is that on Saturday Dr. Povis called me at home to check on my pet and then told me that if his condition got worse to call him at home. AMAZING!!!! Not A Friend To The Animal Community - I have been taking my dogs to them since late 2013. My living situations had changed and I was having a hard time finding a place I could get into with the dogs. One dog I have had since he was a puppy and the other is a rescue I have had for 4 years that was saved from a terrible puppy mill. Rather than just give them up to the SPCA, where they would become someone else's problem, I did everything I could to make sure they were taken care of. This involved monthly injections for one dog that has Addison's and repeated boarding for them since I was staying somewhere for a week at a time, on multiple occasions, where pets weren't allowed. Over a few months. I went through my entire savings with them - over $3000 - for taking care of the dogs. While I don't expect them to provide services for free, I did come to a point where I explained the entire situation to them and needed them to tell me if anything they would do for the dogs would be expensive or just unexpectedly high. They said they would, but continued to overcharge me and run unnecessary tests. The monthly injection was over $70 alone, which is twice what my previous vet up in Pasco was charging. Unfortunately, it became clear that once they realized I was willing to continue to pay in order to make sure these dogs didn't become another homeless animal, they took advantage of the situation. I waited a while to write this review, so I wouldn't post it while I was upset, but over time my feelings have not changed. I begged them to not take advantage of someone who is just trying to take care of 2 dogs - one of which is a rescue - and they made the decision that money was more important. Please consider another vet that puts the entire animal community ahead of their own pocketbook. Finally, to be fair, I gave 2 stars instead of 1 because the actual services provided seemed to be done well, and the boarders were friendly with the dogs. However, there are many vets out there that provide the same level of service and still take part in the animal community as a whole. Read Less
