I am a returning client of Newman Vet. A few years ago we had moved out of town and had to use a new Vet. We have now moved back to the area and chose to go back to Newman’s for our pets care needs. Such nice nurses and doctors! They treat every animal like it's their own. I have multiple cats and they know who we are and are always welcoming. The staff is friendly and courteous. I love this vet and location is near my house, even better. I'd recommend setting an appointment. They also have an emergency vet branch not far which we initially visited and were able to follow up at our closest location. I love this vet!! Read Less

What I appreciate most about this place is the mix of professionalism & pragmatism. No one tries to guilt me into doing more for my 13-year-old diabetic lab-shepherd than I want to do. They offer the option of all sorts of diagnostics & treatments, but never make me feel like a bad pet owner if I only want to get her the shots she absolutely needs. They are concerned that she has a decent quality of life, but they don't try to convince me that we should spend any amount of money just to prolong her life by months. If that was what I wanted, I'm sure they would help me do it, but I never feel any pressure to. The vet took lots if time with us & showed a real interest in both of our dogs. NVC in Sanford is THE BEST vet center we've ever taken our pug to. While away on vacation, our pug was at a boarding facility in Longwood. When we picked up our pug, he was wheezing horribly and gasping for air. I've never heard him make such a sound (or any dog in that matter) in 10 years so I called up NVC and told them we were rushing over. As soon as we got there, they took him back and began examining him. They immediately put him on oxygen and sedated him so they could take x-rays and blood work. Many of us consider our dogs family, and ours is our baby. So, needless to say, I was beyond a wreck. Not only was the team at NVC over comforting to our fur baby, they were also very comforting to me and my husband. I cant see why there would be any negative reviews for this center because they are always there and willing to help. I have been to Newman's on 6 occasions and can honestly say all 6 were much less then a positive experience. Upon rescuing a new family member I brought her in for an evaluation and to start flea and heartworm medications. To begin with her green is lot listed in their computer system and I was told to "pick something else"... really!?! Pick something else? She is what she is, we know her breed we know who bred her... what do you mean pick something else? In the exam room, I was talked into doing a parasite test which was silly as she had just received a deworming for hook, round, whip, and tape worms prior to my adopting her (given by the lo am animal control) as well as her heart worm test, all vaccines and a dose of trifexis. So of course the parasite test would be negative but I allowed it as I was badgered into it relentlessly. I paid for a "exam" yet no one ever even touched my new pet, no listening to her heart and lungs, no abdominal palpation simply a visual look over and a sales pitch for product. After we got home I noticed while she was laying on her side she has hyperkeratosis which needed to be addressed that was never picked up on her "exam" I paid for... shame.... When I contacted the main office for Newman's I received a return email explaining it was a fill in vet and please give them another chance. I did, and every visit since has been more of the same. With the final straw being notices that my pet is due for her vaccines (actually not until September of this year) as they failed to update the records I brought in from having her fixed as part of the adoption contract. At that time all vaccines were boosted again and I brought the receipt and rabies certificate to newmans to update. So when the notice came that my pet was due I called into Newman's to remind them I had vaccines done and the records should have been updated and I was informed that "a heart worm is required annually by law"  Are you kidding me?!?! I was a tech for 18 years (and a hospital administrator for 4 years), my dog will never miss a dose of heartworm medication ever. But a heartworm test is NOT required by law. I asked her what statute as this is news to me. She of course could not provide that information because it doesn't exist. In fact heartworm medications are dispensed by prescription only and it is at the discretion of the vet to not refill that prescription without a current test on file. BUT I wasn't looking to buy heartworm medications from Newman's so why did she say that. My dog is well cared for, has a current test on file with the vet I purchase my heartworm medications from (also the same vet who boards my horses) but he is located across town. I was hoping to find a good vet close to home. Obviously this is not Newman's. All they care about is money money money. Never have I seen such shameless ploy to needlessly run up a clients bill. To state that something is required by law that isn't? How many other people have fallen for that who just wanted to comply with what they should do to take good Cate of their pets? Such things should be and I am pretty sure are illegal.... SHAME ON YOU NEWMANS!!! I do understand there are some good vets in the are I am interviewing one this week and my pets will be seen where the vet cares about the animal at least as much as the bill. Read Less

Great service! The vet took great care to explain in details with me, what to expect from my elderly dog. I took her in for shots and they tried to talk me out of spending money on shots she might not need for her remaining years. Other vets would have just charged me without question. The entire experience was phenomenal! I love my cat very much just as any pet owner would love their animal as well & when I come here, the doctor, the assistants & the front desk are so genuine & loving. I asked so many questions on my cat's annual wellness exam & not once did they try to rush me, belittle me, or show annoyance. These people truly care about your animal & you. I will forever continue to take my cat here & any other animals I may adopt later on. Thank you for providing exceptional service & not treating us as patients, but as family! Read Less

Took my Coal for the first time to Newman Vets, they were wonderful. The tech's were very caring, soothing, and efficient. First time anyone cut Coal's nails that quickly because they're black and its hard to see. Dr. was knowledgeable and caring, too. Coal doesn't like to go to the vet, but he was willing to come back inside after a short walk. Something he never has done before for other vet's. The office staff were wonderful, too. Read Less

I read a few of the previous negative reviews and I am honestly quite surprised! I have been here with both of my two dogs, one of whom had crystallization in her urine, and the doctor was amazing. The vet techs were so nice to both me and my dogs, and the doctor really took the time to make sure our dogs were diagnosed properly and given the appropriate treatment. The doctor suspected a uti, checked the sample and even suggested an x-ray to make sure there were no bladder stones, as the urine had a lot of crystallization. The doctor even talked to us about the appropriate ph balance of our dogs urine and reasons that would cause the urine to have either a more acidic or basic level. I felt that they really cared and were not judgmental as I feel some vets can be. I will absolutely be coming back to this vet! Read Less

Neumans left me in a room with two    of my kittens, one had a bulging eye infection.  I was there so long I fell asleep. I left the office  and it was too late to go to another vet. My cat lost her eye due to their neglect. This past week I thought I'd  give them another chance... I had run out of my cats urgent care a/d cat food. My amazing clinic Deltona Animal Clinic on Providence  ave. In Deltona,fl. had a back order on my catfood I needed, so I went to neumans  on Deltona Boulevard.  The girl at the desk informed me it is a prescription only item and I  would need a prescription for  it. I went to my vet and got the script. Went back to neumans. I figured the can food was safe  and I hated not giving them another chance.  I went in and Alicia helped me with five cans after I  gave her my script. Now she was great. , made a copy for my file, apologized for their past neglect. Said they would like me to give them another try.  I  was considering that maybe it was just a mistake on there staff. I paid and left Happy. Today I  sent my hubby to get more of the same stuff, and they said they can't sell it because their vet must  see my cat and they will not sell  until I pay them the door fee. I told them I had the script. They now informed me they would investigate because it was against the law for them to sell this without their Dr script. They won't let James call back he probably was fired for trying to help my cat. This is not the way to  start off the new year. My cousin found a vet to sell it. No questions asked. Read Less

When an office answers every caller and puts you on hold till you hang up, when they cannot give you directions to where to go, when they cannot get anything straight like your name they ask three times or more, when they cannot treat your pet with sedation gas without scheduling a full anesthesia and making the animal NPO past 10 and all you want is a rabies shot, and when they blame the owner for frustration when they are the ones  they want you to turn your animal over to-don't go there. Dr. Charlie and the entire staff here is extremely knowledgeable, caring and kind. The facility is always spotless too. I've been coming here for years. First with German Shepherd who is now past and now with my Bull Terrier. Both of my dogs were rescues. My bully had severe  Demodex mange of which Dr. Charlie helped us treat in a homeopathic way because our boy is sensitive to Ivermectin.  He's doing great now and has almost all of his hair back. They always call to check on your pet after your visit there and keep in great communication about the health of your pet. Dr. Charlie really listens and is open minded when it comes to traditional and homeopathic type treatments. Read Less

I use the mobile vaccination clinic for my two dogs. Yes, you have to go to a parking lot, outside of a mobile van, but it is insanely cheaper than the vet. (Most vets charge an office visit plus their charge for vaccines approx 80-100$ ball park), but here I can get all the nessessary shots done for my dogs for about $25. If you are just going for the rabies-there are other mobile shots that are cheaper ($5) But the locations for val-u-vet usually travel very close to my home so it's not a long drive. Some techs are friendlier than others, but you're in and out in 10 minutes tops granted theres not a long line. Read Less
