We had an emergency situation with a neighborhood cat and had called numerous vets near us and all said they had surgeries and couldn't see her. Lake Seminole Hospital was a little further but I got called them with hope and they said the doc was going into surgery soon, BUT they said bring her in right away and they would see her! We had never been here before and they welcomed us with open arms and took our little Tiger right in. She had a 105° temp and other issues and they started giving her antibiotics and pain meds right away, they even went above and beyond and even did a few additional things for her that they didn't charge us for. This animal hospital cares about there patients so much. Tiger the cat, the very next day started feeling a ton better and is now doing wonderful :). Thank you so much! Read Less

This review is long overdue! I had been struggling with my dogs health for years. Everything from horrible skin infections to incontinence. Throughout this time I spent thousands of dollars with Banfield (horrible) and specialists and got nowhere. I then took my fur baby to a new groomer who suggested I see Dr. Rumore. She raves about him and now I know why. 2 visits and he successfully diagnosed Cushing disease and came up with a treatment plan and it worked! My little guy is happy and healthy again thanks to Dr. Rumore! Since that time I have also seen his associate, Dr. Bethany who is equally as great! Every staff member is wonderful. Lake Seminole Animal Hospital is a everything that a vet office should be! I have been taking my cat and my pet rats to this vet for years. The office staff are friendly and helpful. The prices are fair. The vet techs are warm, gentle, and loving to the little ones being seen. Most importantly, (at least in my opinion), the veterinarian, Doctor Rumore, is honest, up front, and very knowledgeable about my animals. He obviously keeps up to date with the latest research on rat health and wants the best for my babies. I highly recommend this place! Dr Bethany and the other doctors and staff are outstanding. Taylor and Lisa and the others LOVE pets. Their boarding facility is the best. They took special care of my elderly dog that needed to be let out more frequently than most dogs. When it came time to make the tough decision to euthanize my 16 year old dog, they worked me in (during their lunchtime) and were compassionate. I have a new dog and will be heading there next week. I've been taking my fur babies here for several years and have always received excellent and compassionate care.  Recently my oldest kitty became very ill, Dr Rumore himself called me with the test results and offered options.  I chose to try to handle the care at home to keep her more comfortable.  The tech that worked with me on what I needed to do was very patient and an excellent teacher.  Unfortunately my kitty was too ill and passed away last week peacefully at home in my husbands lap.  I was very surprised and touched to receive a call from Dr Rumore today saying that he had been out of town, but just wanted to let me know how sorry he was about my Cali and that if I needed anything to just call. It's not cheap (and i have not comparison- shopped) but my dog means the world to us and I will never take her to anyone else. This is by far the absolute worst vet I have ever been to. I went in to get my dogs shots and any other place I have been I have never been charged me more than $125 for vet visit, shots and full physical. This vet charged me upwards of $900 for two dogs getting shots, a vet visit, heart worm test, and physical. Somehow it just doesn't add up. More recently I took a sample of my dogs urine to get tested and the receptionist flat out told me that I didn't care about my dog because I didn't want to bring him in and cause him stress when he was only having signs of a UTI. She then continued to call and pester me about bringing him in even after I told them that he gets very stressed whenever he goes in and has altercations with my other dog when taken out of the home. A week later a relative took their dog in for shots and normal yearly check up. It was made known that the dog has trouble seeing and that he is a very verbal dog but in no way aggressive at all. The vet demanded that she muzzle the dog witch terrified the poor guy and then when it came time for his shots they brought 4 people into the room to crowd him and pin him to the ground. I understand that safety is a concern when dealing with larger dogs but they didn't even try to aquatint themselves with the dog before they demanded he be muzzled and man handled. These people care about nothing more than making money and will blaintly make you feel horrible if you don't do exactly what they want you to do to make a dollar. Don't ever use them. Read Less

I found Dr. Rumore when my 8 year old Ridgeback mix got sick. After treating her as best he could on our tight budget, her cancer spread throughout her body. Dr. Rumore was very accommodating, and extremely sympathetic, when we had to rush her in to be euthanized. He had only been our vet for a few months. Here we are, nearly 10 years and 2 cats later, and Dr. Rumore is helping me to keep my 13 year old senior citizen as comfortable as possible until she takes her last breath, hopefully on her own terms. He is all about exhausting every option before even discussing euthanasia. Dr. Rumore, and his entire staff, actually care about your animals. When he goes into the room you're in, he SITS ON THE FLOOR with your dog, and TALKS TO THEM. Who does that?? I've been to many vets in my day, and Lake Seminole Animal Hospital is, HANDS DOWN, the only place I will take my babies. I have a tortious shell kitty, and only Dr. Rumore and his staff know how to handle her. She has to be sedated in order to treat her, the sweetheart that she is. So, to the guy who criticized Dr. Rumore for trying to prolong his dog's lives... shame on you. If you weren't comfortable, you should have told him to just euthanize them and be done with it. When we relocated to Florida, we chose Lake Seminole Animal Hospital because of the high ratings we found on the internet and also the proximity to our home.  I have never been so satisfied with the service and care my animals received as I have been with Lake Seminole AH.  Our dogs have seen Dr. Rumore for most of their visits unless it is an emergency.  He is always compassionate and gets right down on the floor with the dogs to examine them.  The whole time he is putting the dogs at ease by talking to them and petting them.  He is also great at putting my pets' needs in layman's terms that are easy or me to understand.  The thing I appreciate the most about all the employees here is that they always give you their honest opinion.  If the most expensive course of treatment may not work or the doctor thinks it isn't they best course of action, they will tell you and suggest the best option.  They never try to upsell me on treatments or medications for my animals.The hours and scheduling here are also a great aspect.  Lake Seminole Animal Hospital has late hours several days a week and Saturday appointments so I never have trouble getting my pets seen.  If I've ever had a question that a vet needs to answer, I just call, tell the employee on the phone and the vet has always called me back that day with an answer, which is something I can't say for most veterinarians. So I call 2 schedule neutering today 4 the boy, The clinic says it will be 145$ for pre blood test 2 make sure he has no reaction 2 anesthesia and they put me on hold..... hold...........hold. And Ms Blue 368$ for the neutering. I'm like ..hmmm I said one dog Not 3? So when is neutering a 26lb puppy cost over 500? And then she said " our prices are really comparable 2 all the Veternarians in the area. I SAID yes! 4 three dogs. A 10 minute incision? I dont understand. I've had dogs all of my life and know what nurturing cost. I will Miss Ms Dr Zoe. So will my little Prince. Its not U But Please Lake Seminole get more reasonable on these prices. Without a doubt, the best vet facility I have ever dealt with. Dr. Rumore and the ENTIRE staff is passionate, caring, and best of all... honest. He will not beat around the bush. He will not sugar coat. And he does all of this with compassion and understanding.Awhile ago, we had to put down our Golden of 14 years. I've had to put down dogs before, and one that was my police working dog. He made this the most comfortable time I have ever had in doing this very sad and emotional moment. He did everything possible when Elway was with us and made sure we understood what it meant to be unselfish during this time, as our boy has been unselfish with us for 14 GREAT years.For anyone that might question any cost associated with ANY vet, please, please remember, you get what you pay for. If you are looking for a vet who will assist you in making ethical decisions concerning end-of-life choices for your beloved pet, Dr. Rumore is not for you. Five years later and I am still angry when I think of how this seemingly caring vet , who we had used for years, milked the situation and prolonged the suffering of our dogs when they became terminally ill.   Our precious hounds' suffering was tragically prolonged for no excusable reason. We gave him the benefit of the doubt on the first pet, but after the even more obvious second time occurred it removed all doubt.  He turned a blind eye to their suffering and I don't know if I will ever be able to forgive that. I have had 2 weeks of serious pet emergencies and the vets and techs at Lake Seminole Animal Hospital have been wonderful. We are by no means out of the woods yet but I remain hopeful and very comfortable with the expert care they give my dogs and me. Today, I had emergencies of two totally different natures with two of my 3 dogs. While I was there, my neighbors are texting me to say my 3rd dog got out of the yard after I left. Fortunately they saved the day and got her back in and blockaded the fence breech. (Small sigh of relief.) During all this calamity, I was calm, hopeful and was told ecactly what was going on at all times. But Dr. Rumore, Dr. Bethany, Dr. Britton, and all of the techs, as well as the front reception staff have taken such good care of my dogs (and me) that it makes me feel very much at ease with what they are doing and the treatments they have given to keep my senior pets in the best health possible. Thanks to you all from Pesches, Wookie, Diva, Lil Bit and Kim. My family has been using this vet office for all our cats and dogs since my childhood cat was adopted 16 years ago. That cat is still alive and Dr Rumore still takes excellent care of him. My siblings and I have moved apart, adopted more animals, and brought them all here. You can tell that the entire staff cares about your animals. If they recommend tests or medicine, they tell you why. I've also seen them take emergency visits while I waited for my appointment, so if your animal is really ill they'll truly see you as quickly as possible. One of my cats has had puzzling symptoms for multiple years but Dr Rumore is the first vet to find a treatment that seems to help. Also, I know that he does declaw cats, but the staff has been very respectful of me not wanting to declaw my cats. So that's a plus. Read Less

I've been going to see Dr. Rumore and his staff for years. Initially it was just for my rabbit, but after taking my border collie to numerous vets for his itching issues, I was tired of changing his food, wasting money on pointless tests, and even more upset that I had agreed to neuter him for the sole purpose of the promise of "it'll help his itching". (It in fact only mellowed him out more than he already was, to the point where he started rapidly gaining weight!) Finally I took him to see Dr. Rumore. He not only helped me better understand the way my dog's mind worked, but he figured out what was causing his non stop itching! He helped me find the most effective, inexpensive way to treat everything, as well as a healthy, successful way to help my dog lose the weight he gained! I love everything about this office! They are the best! The doctors have been known to get right down on the floor with your pet to start the examination. I have never had a bad experience there. They all treat your pet as if it was their own. They have been my vet for 10 years even after I moved two towns away. They are worth the drive. Dr. Remore was voted the best vet in Pinellas County 2 years in a row. They are not the cheapest vet but you get what you pay for. I would give them 20 stars if I could. I absolutely love this place. I have been taking my pets to Dr. Rumore for 7-8 years now, and I always feel great about the care my dogs receive. I would agree that most vet offices are expensive; I have never left a vet office and thought, Man that was cheap! ;however, the compassion and knowledge the staff at Lake Seminole offers, is worth much, MUCH more than you will ever pay. I feel like they care about my babies as much as I do. I have been taking my dogs and cat to Lake Seminole Animal Hospital for about 9 years. My most important criteria when selecting a vet is expertise. Dr. Rumore & Dr. Britton are brilliant doctors who have handled some very serious health problems between my 5 pets. The next criteria is patient comfort. It matters to me that my pets are not scared in the office. The staff has always put my pets at ease. They know what they're doing, and have always handled my pets appropriately (even the tough ones). My third criteria is that I can get sound advice on behavior issues, diet, exercise, and training. Dr. Rumore works with animal rescue groups and shelters, so he has a lot of experience to draw from when I'm having an issue with one of my rescues. I just had our crazy young chocolate lab in the office last week, and he got nothing but positive reinforcement for desired behavior, and his poor manners were handled patiently. He's been seeing Dr. Rumore for a year now, and when my dog heard the doctor in another room, he stood straight up and perked his ears. He stared at the door until the doctor arrived. Cost is important, but I've yet to find an inexpensive vet. Services and medicine are costly. Dr. Rumore and the staff are respectful of our budget.Read Less

Dr. Rumore and vet tech Lisa showed our 11 year old Shih-tzu doggie Beau, such friendliness and compassion... needless to say a thorough exam and treatment that far exceeded my expectations. Wonderful care. I am so grateful! In the past I've developed anxiety about taking my dogs to the vet because I've met some real nasty ones - but all that changed today! Wow, Dr. Rumore was AWESOME! And Lisa got down on the floor, literally at one point, to take care of Beau on his level! Between their wonderful "petside" manner, and offer to use Publix to fill one of Beau's prescriptions for free, well it's just doesn't get any better than that in my opinion! I can't thank them enough. Now, no more anxiety for me when visiting the vet's office as I know we've found the one we're meant to continue to see and I can put all my focus on Beau during the visit and actually remember all the things I have to tell them about why we're there! I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Rumore six years ago. He brought my llasa Apso, Shania, back from the brink of death. We moved up to Largo after that and started going to vets closer to home. When our poodle mix got sick a month ago, we were not happy with the local vets. It was well worth the extra miles. Reba had an infected uterus that was close to bursting. (Pyometra). Once again Dr Rumore save one of my pets. The doctor and his staff are very caring and skillful professionals It's hard to put a price on your pet, but we are retired and have to work within a certain budget. The staff were able to help us work things out and I feel like Reba was treated like royalty. I can't speak highly enough of Lake Seminole Animal Hospital. Read Less

I have been there a couple times. The staff is pleasant and they are open bufore and after I go to work. They did prescribe me som Rx for my dog and I filled those at Publix where the antibiotic was free. They actually recommended me go to Publix to get them filled. The Vet is a great guy and my dog loves going there. As for price, I don't know because my dog is a rescue dog and the rescue organization is paying his vet bills until he is heartworm free. So I honestly can't say how expensive they are, but I really like them and plan on keeping them as my vet even when I have to start footing the bill. I really haven't been to other Vets so I cannot compare how Lake Seminole is vs. the Tampa vet someone else mentioned, but for me, I like these guys and will continue to go there. Read Less

Our cat was sick, and had never been to the vet. Initially, I contacted Lake Seminole Animal Hospital for convenient location and to inquire about rates. The receptionist was so nice we scheduled the appointment. The entire staff; front desk, nurse, assistant, and doctor were absolutely wonderful. Our cat was stressed, and they were so gentle and kind in handling her. They took time to explain her condition and the course of treatment, including instruction in administering medications. They advise you in advance of anticipated expenses, and in that vein, I had phoned two other clinics, and their rates are competative, if not more reasonable. Our dog has been favoring his right foot paw for a few weeks so we decided to take him here for a check-up and shots. The hospital has been there for 20 years and has a great reputation. Dr. Michael Rumore, who we met with, has been here for the past 10 years.Great staff, gentle and soothing..the animals all seemed to be excited about their visit. Perhaps the staff are 'dog whisperers'. What I liked is that they didn't just charge us for a bunch of needless testing.
