I started taking my dogs to this clinic when I had just moved into town, due to its proximity to where I live. In June of 2013, I took my almost 10 year old dog in for an office visit. At that time, the vet looked him over & stated that he had "the best teeth of any dog she has seen at that age." About two weeks ago, we took the same dog in to have two pea sized lumps looked at. He has had lipomas in the past & we just always want to be safe. The SAME VET looked at the lumps & then checked out his teeth. She stated that he had "severe gingivitis, needed extractions & a deep cleaning". We were shocked that his teeth could go from great to horrible in just 4 months. We asked for a quote for the cleaning, extractions & lump removal. The quote came in at over $1,200.00. I decided that we needed a second opinion.
We took my dog to a new Vet last Saturday. He looked at his teeth & said that there were no issues whatsoever. He also looked at the two lumps & discovered that they were ingrown hairs. He then asked about a cyst that my dog had on his torso. I stated that Race Track had told me that it was just a lipoma. He then asked if they had biopsied it. The answer was "no". He said that you NEVER know just by looking at something. We decided that we should have it removed & sent off. When the vet was doing this surgery, he found another lump that Race Track missed & removed that as well. We decided to have his teeth cleaned being that he would be under anyways. We sent the lumps off to the lab. The entire bill came to $553.00.
Any vet that would diagnose by just looking at something, or order unnecessary extractions is not a person that I want treating my animals. Beware of this place. Read Less
