I have had anxiety for 4 years now about bringing my pup to the vet due to a bad experience at another office when we did not live in St. Augustine. My pup has been to Antigua before when he was just a few weeks old but we had not been back due to relocating. We decided today to bring him in for his check up (that we had put off for so long, due to our bad experience at the other office and because our pup has extreme fear aggression which caused the last bad experience) and ...the visit today was better than I could have imagined. Of course, our pup was not happy, and he sure gave everyone a hard time! But everyone remained so calm and so helpful. Thank you to the amazing assistants that helped! I am new to Saint Augustine and live in the Fullerwood Area. My 1 year 7 month old dog was coughing on occasion and I took her in as I was worried it would get worse over the holiday weekend. I loved the vet here! Down to earth advice, quick, friendly and understanding. He even complimented my girl on her svelte, athletic figure. (People have asked if I feed my dog enough in the past.) My Spinone Italiana is a rarer breed than usual and he is very knowledgeable about the breed. He is extremely straight forward and direct. We moved to the area about a year ago and searched for a Veterinarian. The staff is friendly, very knowledgeable and professional. I bring my two dogs to this practice and they have been extremely helpful in all aspects. My son rescued a puppy while visiting us and Antigua's Vet Practice was able to get him in that day to have the puppy looked at. I would highly recommend this practice! We have 4 pets. Our dogs love both doctors. They were exceptionally compassionate when our black lab became very ill at the end of his life and referred us to a specialist in Mandarin. They all worked together to formulate the best course of treatment giving our boy several extra months and us time to make the right decisions about his comfort & quality of life. Our family has been a part of the Antigua family for 10 years. We bring our very anxious 10 year old lab mix, they always seem genuinely happy to see her despite the difficulties she gives them! We also used to bring our cat, she now sees a specialist as she is a cancer patient. She's a happy girl on chemo for almost a year, virtually unheard of for a cat to live so long with cancer, surely thanks at least in part to the early detection and care by Dr. Yselonia! Read Less

Dr. Yselonia & Dr. Searcy and all the staff did a wonderful job taking care of Loki. They did everything they could to find out what was making him sick and explaining everything to me so I understood what the tests did. I always knew that Loki was in good hands while he had to stay there. I had also found out that Leslie called the specialist to see how Loki was doing there, she was off the day I picked him up to take him to the specialist. Dr. Yselonia called me the day I was able to bring Loki home to ask how he was doing and to explain what the findings were. I an EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED AND DISTRAUGHT over my experience at Antigua.  Yesterday, I took my dog in to treat an ear infection. It was my first visit. While the staff was holding my dog to do an ear exam, my dog screamed in pain. Immediately after, she was unable to walk, and Dr. Searcy informed me that she has a dislocated hip. To make matters worse, he began to get defensive, said it did not happen on his exam table and insisted it had to have occurred from a previous hip injury/dislocation. My dog has NEVER had a previous hip injury, and therefor his reasoning was incorrect and not professional. He refused to take responsibility, wanted to charge me over $600 to do an X-ray and procedure to put her hip back in the socket. What happened to professionalism and doing the right thing? It was clear Dr. Searcy was not concerned at all about the truth of what actually occurred, nor was he concerned about my dog's well-being.   He was more concerned about NOT accepting responsibility on his watch. I am very disheartened about this. My dog is in a lot of pain, and I am now having another vet take care of her injury, which is costing me a lot of money. My daughter first used when visiting after her dog got bit. Took her in right away. They are very friendly there. I started taking my guys there. I'm more holistic and they don't give you a hassle about it. My other daughter needed flea meds for her cats and didn't want to take them in which her vet wanted. The Dr's and their staff are awesome. I not only take my precious fur babies to them all my foster dogs go to them too. They have been very compassionate when I have had to send some to Rainbow Bridge. Dr Yselonia is great in explaining exactly what is going on and will show you. If they are unsure they do not hesitate to send you to a specialist. My fur babies and fosters are my life I trust very few people with them. I fully trust Antiqua and all their staff! Read Less

Very unhappy with this practice and Dr. Yselonia in particular. He is argumentative with me and has never called me back with test results when he said he would. My husband I were vacationing in nearby Ponte Vedra when our dog developed a severe irritation in one nostril.  After reading reviews we settled on Antigua Veterinary.  We are so glad we did!  When I called the office and explained our situation they got us in to see one of the vets that very morning.  Everyone in the office was so helpful, friendly and professional!  We were literally in and out of the office within 15 minutes, medication in hand to treat our Labrador.We couldn't recommend this practice more highly! I have been taking my miniature dachshund, Harrison, to Antigua Veterinary Practice since he was only 12 weeks old. He is now 5 years old, and I still wouldn't trust his health and care with any other veterinary team but Dr. Yselonia and staff. In the years, I have moved from St. Augustine to Jacksonville, and now even further from South Duval to Jacksonville Beach and I still see it worth it to make the drive where I know Harrison will be cared for. As soon as we walk in the door, we are greeted with smiles, and Harry is showered with love and kisses - Antigua knows how to treat you like family, and I appreciate all of the help and support that we receive every time we come into the office! I had an excellent experience here for my cat. The doctor and techs were friendly, kind and handled my very scared cat with so much love. They do not try to up charge you or make your pet undergo procedures they do not need. I was easily able to make an appointment for the same day when I feared my cat had an intestinal blockage. We were visiting St Augustine for the month of Oct when on Oct 27th our 14 year old yorkie Leah was very sick and had to go to the vet . We took her to Antigua we had been told it was the best in town and they were right . They did all they could but we had to put our baby down, but the doctors and all the staff was amazing they was so careing and kind. They helped me and husband thur one of the darkest times of our lives. I want to thank you for everything. We will be back next year for 2 months and we still have a 7 year old yorkie and if she needes a vet , we would not go anywhere else but Antigua. Read Less

If I could give this vet a negative score I would...This was by far the worst vet experience I have ever had. No one helped me when I walked in, the 2 girls that might have been techs were cold and rude, the doctor did not leave me feeling as though he was confident in his decisions. No one had people skills, no one seemed happy to work there, no one made it feel like a pleasant experience at all.  I have never left a doctor's office so uncomfortable and upset in my life. Antigua is a first class Veterinary service all the way.When I lived in the south side of St. Augustine- I used to frequent Moultrie Animal Clinic, and still bring my dog there because they know him. My wife has been bringing her dogs to Antigua for 20 years, and I've grown to love it, too.First off- it's in an old house, not how you'd expect to find a vet- although in the nation's oldest city- it does fit well. The staff is super friendly, especially the vets. Knowledgeable, helpful, and they genuinely care for your pet. The few times I've taken the wife's dog here, they were incredibly gentle and loving with him, and they always do a great job providing care.They offer up great care for all pets- and a great selection of gourmet pet food, as well as Science Diet prescription food. It's just really a great place to bring your pets. My only minor complaint has to do with parking. There is a parking lot in the rear of the clinic, and if you drive a truck or SUV, it can get a bit tight getting in and out. If you luck out- there's two parking spots right in front on San Marco Ave. It's a great way to get in and out quickly if you can score one.Overall- very impressed with the location, feel, and staff here. A great veterinary service, and highly recommended for anyone in the area with pets. Read Less
