Animal Aid And Spay/Neuter Center

Tallahassee, Florida
General Info
The Animal Aid And Spay/Neuter Center located in Tallahassee constructs veterinary appointments to align with everyday routines and family requirements while focusing on individual pet objectives. The adaptable structure of Florida's model accommodates diverse living patterns across the state. An examination starts with inquiries about household alterations which include new foods and supplements as well as shifts in energy social behavior and bathroom patterns. Veterinary assessments proceed from head to tail where joint function, muscle tone, oral health, skin texture, weight history, and internal sounds undergo review and documentation. The Animal Aid And Spay/Neuter Center delivers preventive exams alongside vaccinations and internal testing while providing weight management and dietary support together with pain management and dental evaluations plus in-house treatment for allergies, ear infections, and mobility issues. Veterinarians might suggest staggered appointments for chronic conditions while recommending seasonal visits for routine checkups based on the pet’s age and health status. The progression of symptoms over time or alterations in behavior that suggest increased complexity may necessitate advanced medical attention including laboratory tests and imaging studies. Upon departure clients receive both written notes and digital access to their charts, timelines, and reminders. The design of optional follow-ups considers pet type, condition severity, and lifestyle factors. Households managing several pets or multiple caregivers frequently choose bundled appointments or staggered schedules to enhance convenience. Depending on individual requirements, experts might propose behavior plans or modifications to home mobility setups. Animal Aid And Spay/Neuter Center endeavors to transform veterinary services in Tallahassee into a more consistent experience while reducing stress factors. Through the establishment of consistent routines combined with adaptation to Florida life property owners find opportunities to take early actions while maintaining awareness and receiving support throughout their journey.

Animal aid is a very good pet clinic. The staff and veterinarian are nice and informative if needed. The prices are good for anyone on a budget still wanting to help their pet. Nevertheless the only down side is the wait time if you decide to wait with your pet, but that's to be expected with a small company. All and all I'll continue to print my dog while I'm in the city. A great environment and friendly workers! Long wait times but it makes sense since it's a large high capacity clinic. The place to go if you need an urgent spay or neuter done!

I genuinely feel really bad for this business and would love nothing more than to send in a bunch of volunteers and give a huge donation to help turn this place around. This is a walk in clinic only so they do not take any appointments unless you are scheduling a surgery. They are extremely understaffed and usually have two people at the front desk at a time. They do not have enough seating in the front office so many people are forced to stand and they do not have an efficient system in place to talk to customers in the order that they arrive. If you get there any later than 9 AM, you'll be waiting up to an hour and a half to be seen by the people at the front desk. I have been there several times, yet every single time I visit they can never find my file because they do not have a file system, just boxes and boxes containing clients files. There is mold on every single air vent and dog hair everywhere. I really hate writing a bad review because these people seem genuine and really try but they need a lot of help from a business/ client perspective. I wouldn't bring my dog back here for anything other than to get flea and heartworm meds (because they're the cheapest). Read Less

I wish I could give no stars this place is HORRIBLE! Completely unprofessional they don't let you go back with your animal because they don't want you to see the mistreatment. I had my dog neutered here. I was lured in by the prices. But you truly get what you pay for and the pain and suffering your animal will got through is not worth it.. I had to take my dog to the vet more then two weeks after the neuturing due to the fact I swore they didn't neuture my dog. I used my normal vet that I do all annual check ups with. He was shocked and disgusted with the botched job that this place did the stitches were jagged and my dog has the harry potter scar.. they cut him to low down and they didn't do good on the inside. My dog now has 2 MASSIVE blood clots in place of where his testicles were. When I took him back to the animal aid to get the stitches removed, I tried to ask about why my dog still looked like he had groceries in his grocery bag the lady told me the vet is to busy please call back tomorrow... I am disgusted with this place! first and last time I will ever use them! Read Less

When I picked up my cat from having been neutered, he was sitting in a very large puddle of his own urine. When I asked if they had a towel or something, the lady behind the desk very rudely responded that there was newspapers over in the corner I could use. My cat has not eaten in days, he has been lethargic, and depressed. God only knows what they did to him behind closed doors. He hasn't been the same since. We waited over an hour just to be checked out after the dog was finished with the exam. When we walked in they lost this other woman’s dog and miraculously found it hours later. I’m very patient, but an hour just to get out of the door?? That’s ridiculous. We came in at 11 and here it is 1:00 and we still are sitting here. Not only that, but they wouldn’t allow my friend go into the exam room with her dog. Yes it is the most inexpensive vet in town, but you get what you pay for in this situation and that is terrible service. Would not recommend this place to others. Read Less

I was hoping going here would be more suitable for a college student but they ended up charging me for services I did not ask for then losing the paperwork. We took our cat's to Animal Aid to be spayed. The staff was very helpful, the prices are affordable and they accept vouchers to help cover the cost. Our girls were well taken care of. A week after their initial visit, one of our girls opened her incision and the staff were quick to get her seen. They kept her overnight and fixed her the next morning. They have both healed well and are back to their old selves. Pick up does seem to take some time, so don't plan on being in and out. Considering the amount of animals they see and assistance they provide to owners, a little patience at pick up is the least we can give in exchange for their low cost services and care for our furbabies. I've been bringing my animals to the Animal Aide Clinic on and off for 13 years now.  They provide extremely affordable care for my pets, sometimes at a fraction of the cost of some of the vets around Tallahassee. My most recent visit was today to bring in a foster dog, Emma, to get spayed.  The drop off was easy, but not as quick as it could have been.  Emma was seen there in July 2017 with her previous owner but they could not locate her prior record this morning.  The comment by the front desk is that because she had a new owner that they probably tossed her file, which I don't understand why they wouldn't keep her records.  Aside from that, the process was not too bad.  I requested phone checkout, which I got my call around 2pm to let me know Emma was ready for pickup and gave me instructions as well as my total cost.  I arrived at 5pm to pick up Emma and they had me in and out within 10 minutes.  In the past it could take an hour to get in and out, so it was nice to be able to pick up and go.  The only reason they receive 4 stars instead of 5 is that time to time their staff can be rude on the phone.  Other than that, I thoroughly appreciate Animal Aide for their services. Animal Aid really is a blessing. The staff is friendly and very helpful. They were persistent with calling me to remind me about my appointment. My appointment was early so I went around 8 AM and the wait was standard for a hospital but not unbearably long. I was so nervous about getting my puppy spayed and they helped calm my nerves by answering my questions and reassuring me that it's a standard procedure. Her surgery went just fine and after a few days she was back to her energetic self despite how often I told her to stop so she doesn't injure herself. From what I can see she healed just fine. Can't wait to get her stitches removed later today. Read Less

We've gone here twice. Once with a $5 spay voucher and was told that the $5 spay voucher would not cover the cone, pain meds blood work and other misc stuff. We did end up paying only $5 because Margo said she would use a "supplemental boucher" to cover additional costs. I called on 2/8 and spoke to the woman that answered the phone and asked if they did rabies shots for $10. She stated "sure, we can price match". Hubby and daughter drove from Crawfordville to Boone Ave only to be told it's "$26 for the office visit and $15 for rabies". I really hate being lied to. You people may want to hold a meeting so all the staff is on the same page. "In my opinion", this place is a joke. They're not orhanized, they don't communicate what they tell customers to other staff as a heads up. If you want $10 rabies shots wait for Tractor Supply To hold their clinics. Our organization has been a client of this clinic for almost 10 years. We have consistently received courteous and prompt service. It is true that at times reception staff is overwhelmed by the number of residents to serve but they do their best to provide professional and knowledgeable answers and service to each resident. We not only bring to this clinic our rescue animals but we also use their services for our personal pets. It is noteworthy to mention that we have personally observed acts of pure kindness and compassion not only toward pet owners but towards animals in need. We believe that without this clinic many residents and their companion pets would be at a loss. My dog kept having seizures, I brought her here to see what the problem was and what I could do to fix it. After several un necessary blood work samples, heart worm test, diabetes test they sent me to a specialist whom advised me I should have gone to them 1st before all those test were ran!! Of course it costed me an arm and a leg to do all of that work plus I then had to pay for the specialist visit! My dog was diagnosed with epilepsy causing her to be on medication for the rest of her life. WHY does this clinic require me to PAY for a prescription I understand paying for the medicine but I have to pay another office visit fee plus blood work just to get a prescription!!! This is crazy! They only provided me with enough medicine for 3 months then I'm supposed to keep coming back to get more but why an office visit for that! Leave the darn prescription at the front desk! It's not that difficult! I actually had a life saving experience at the Animal Aid facility in Tallahassee today. My 11+ year old Lhasa Apso,  Baxter, who is blind, (and I am his 3rd Mommy, after beingturned back into shelters two times before he was 1& 1/2 yrs old)   was seen by the lovely Bailey, as his groomer. When I say life saving, I have to say I was at my wits end. Yesterday and today, in the morning, he was turned away because he snapped and was aggressive with groomers at  two different facilities here in Tallahassee. Because of his earlier "issues", I have never been able  to bath or wipe his bottom, because of his aggressiveness. I am sure most people would have " put him down", by now. I have continued to love on him and do what I could. He had dried poop on his bottom which was getting worse, and I was being turned away by two different facilities. I had actually thought that the time was at an end for him if I could find no one to groom or bathe him. Thank you , thank you to Bailey, my Angel for giving us more time, and I will be back when we need other services. She didn't even charge anything, either...when the groomer on Capital Circle wanted $75. to sedate him to clean poop off his bottom, the size of a fifty cent piece. I know their are some negative remarks on this site but I had nothing but a positive loving experience. Read Less

If I could give this place negative stars, I would. I walked into the office where I was neither greeted or acknowledged by ANYONE. When I finally spoke to someone I let them know that the cat that I was bringing in was a rescue that may already be spayed, I just needed to know if she was or wasn't & if she wasn't, I wanted that surgery done that same day (which I had made an appointment for by phone beforehand). Apparently they hadn't written that down because the lady behind the counter was extremely rude to me & asked (with a look of hostility & arrogance) if I had an appointment. I stayed there LITERALLY from the time that they opened until the time that they closed!!! I told them up front that I was going to be in my car waiting and to please give me a call when she was done. I live over an hour away from Tally so I didn't feel like driving back home to have to come back again later. I waited patiently all day (expecting a call long before this time, mind you) and then when it was pickup time, I went inside to get her. When I went inside there was one other person in front of me. I stood behind the counter waiting to be acknowledged, which I never was so I just had a seat. A lady that got there right after me asked if she needed to grab a number. I told her that I didn't think so since it was just a pickup but that I wasn't totally sure. Two other women that were together came in soon after this and talked to the staff. Then, other people filed in & so I walked to the counter to be helped. The lady behind the desk then proceeded to tell me that I had to take a number to be helped. I explained that no one told me that & that I had gotten there before all of the other people (who were all being helped before me) and asked her if she was seriously going to make me wait when I had been there waiting before them. Thankfully another lady behind the counter said that she would help me & when they brought Tux out, they told me that she had ALREADY BEEN FIXED PREVIOUSLY!!! Needless to say, I had waited there ALL DAY when it wasn't even necessary!!! A flipping phone call to tell me this would have been nice seeing as though I had been in their PARKING LOT all day!!! NO ORGANIZATION, RUDE, and apparently from the other visitors experiences, UNSAFE!!! Don't ignore the reviews, STAY AWAY FROM THERE!!! Read Less

The worst chop shop. My kitties were sewn up horribly. They do not know what they are doing and sent them home with severe rashes and botched up surgery sites. They taped my kitties raw wound and tape is still there. It sucks because they are affordable. But you get what you pay for. With the vouchers it was still 60+ for surgery and they not only did a horrible job, but charged me outrageous prices because I had the vouchers. Staff is rude and uninformed. I will never, absolutely never, bring anything I love to them again. Not to mention one of the staff knew me outside the business and took my new address information of my patient form and began to harass me afterward. This place in NOT professional. I was terrified because of the reviews to take my new kitten here to get spayed. I had a voucher from the shelter that I adopted her from and read the reviews before I took her. They are simply terrifying and left me scared and nervous for her. I dropped her off at about 8:30 and it took about thirty minutes. I came and picked her up that afternoon, she was a little drowsy and sleepy but everything was fine! The vet came out and went over the procedure and what to expect with recovery and was very nice. I took her back two weeks later to get her stitches taken out, it took about 20 minutes. Only negative thing is you have to wait a little bit and the receptionist lady is not very nice. I have a beautiful Russian Blue / Manx cat named Spooky Jaguar ... He developed a huge abscess under his eye the size of a ping pong ball.. I talked to Margo & I explained what had happened & that I couldn't afford much because I had my own medical problems recently due to a major auto accident... She told me to keep warm water compresses on the wound & bring him in on Monday morning.. Once there I was told the cat had to go under for an operation & I was worried but had faith he would be alright... As the hours went by I read a book by Joel Osteen that helped me relax & trust in God & the vet that would be working on my cat.. I came in an hour early & was told he is fine but not happy.. I was so relieved to know he came out alright... They had to put a drainage tube in him that looked like a shoe lace to me.. On Thursday I had to bring him back to remove tube & for them to evaluate his condition .. They also had me clean him 3x a day & remove puss by using a very gentle pressure to the abscess area... They gave me medicine as an antibiotic for him to swallow every 12 hours and he has to wear an e-collar which they also provided... They were very professional & caring that I followed their instructions.. I am so grateful toward them... I must say he is adjusting well toward the e-collar but still begging to go outside as he hates being confined & using a litterbox. Thank you Margo and all the staff at Animal Aid of Tallahassee Fl. for all your kind help with my cat.. He is the closest best friend I have... Blessings , George Read Less

I called ahead at 8:30am about their seeing my cat that had a flea problem and a nasty cough, and they informed me that they had walk in hours through 1pm. Nice! I got there and there was only a person or two in front of us. I filled out the requisite paperwork for my new-patient-pet, and then the trouble started. After about 3 or 4 rounds of additional questions for me over the counter about what kind of flea treatment I wanted (a relatively inexpensive dose of self administered Comfortis, not their flea treatment), and about how sick my cat really was (trouble breathing? Do you need shots?), they sent their front desk guy to come out and LIE to my face. "Yeah, unfortunately we're not going to be able to see your cat today, because the vet said she's got just a STACK of patients to get through." I was confused--I said "Um--didn't you say that you have WALK IN HOURS through 1pm today?? It's 10:30am." He just repeated himself and said "She will not be seeing your cat today." I guess that because my cat didn't need $250 worth of services from them (just maybe antibiotics and the flea pill) that he wasn't sick enough to warrant their time. WHAT A**HOLES. Run from this place; they're obviously only concerned about how much money they can make off of you and don't really care about your animals at all. SO DISAPPOINTING. I'd give them a zero if I could! First of all - yes! The prices are a great deal cheaper. But you get what you pay for. You walk in and it's ALWAYS packed .. There is never anywhere to sit. You're greeted with a lovely scent similar to dog bookie, sweat, & a dying diabetic all wrapped in one tasteful aroma - NOT! Ugh, ew! I'm still cringing. It reminds me of what a food stamp office would be like.     I only went here because an aunt of mine suggested it and we got our cats spayed together. What other way are you supposed to bond with family, right? Well! They suck, to put it blunt. I had a boot on my foot, recovering from surgery & was collecting the cats alone being as my aunt had to go back to work. (ASAP Bail Bonds - check it out if you have sticky fingers or sell your sexy body illegally, etc). When they brought the carriers back out, no one offered to help me carry them out! Okay, two arms, 3 cats... Uhhh if you can do the math, so can they. Plus did I mention I was pushing my 16 month old son in his stroller?! Not only did I practically have to ASK for help I never received it. I huffed and puffed back & forth until I collected them all & proceeded to pay. Can't get worse, right?! Pfft.. Come on now. You know the story. They overcharged me!! By around $30! Over a month later I still can't get that stench out of my nostrils & am $30 poorer.    Save yourself (and your nose) the trauma. A four hour visit for five 4 week old kittens. Service was OK and overall the staff was friendly but a feeling of a cheap back room facility lingered. Checked in at 7:30 and was told that the vet wouldn't be in until 8:30. Unfortunately, that turned into 9:45. Also, took about 30 minutes for us to be checked out. Kind of inconvenient considering I had 5 kittens in two large boxes (rescued/feral kittens). The vet had a face mask on like she might've been sick but it made me feel like she thought the kittens were just disease ridden. She mostly addressed the aides and said a total of (maybe) 5 words to me. Plus side: Affordable basic servicesHowever, even for the foster kittens we will be going directly to the Humane Society from now on. This place is great for students/people on a budget that need somewhere to take their fluffy babies without breaking the bank. Animal Aid has been taking care of my two babies since I got them and have done a wonderful job. From simple monthly baths and nail trims (half on wed and thurs- $9!!!)  to annual visits, to even a heart worm battle with one of my babies. The vets are extremely nice and have always called me personally to update me on lab work and such. This place can get pretty busy and sometimes they are understaffed so be understanding of the long waits. They don't do appointments, just walk ins. But they do have drop off times and pick up times for some things. I think this place is great if you are understanding of the wait time. Especially considering the prices I think its hard to complain, at least thats my opinion (but I am a personal with a lot of free time so I don't mind lol). They also price match online items for flea and tick medications. It seems most people have problems when it comes to overnight stays and operations like microchipping and spray/neuter  but I have never had my dogs have these operations so I can't speak for these. All I can speak for is the things the people at animal aid have done for my dogs, which have all been great. My dogs also are also not scared to come here (their tails are never tucked lol) ever which is great sign right? Overall, I personally have had a great experience with this place and always recommend this place to friends. Read Less

I agree the prices are cheaper for the standard procedures (spade/neuter, flee treatments) and so on.  However, when it comes down to an surgical procedure (that was already diagnosed by another doctor)  They refuse to give you a price, even when you have an outlined cost estimate with high and low ranges based on the other doctors diagnose.  They have all sorts of excuses as to why they cannot give you a price.  In my past experience with them, they said they couldn't give me a price, but it would be lower then the Northwood Animal Hospital's price.  So I let them do it.  Then AFTER the procedure was done...  There was hundreds of dollars in additional costs they claimed I had to pay before I could take my dog.  I argued the point with their billing person and ended up not paying them.  In addition the incision became infected due to sloppy work and had to be reopened and redone.  If you value your pets well being as well as your bank account....  Take your pet elsewhere! Used to go to this vet when my dog was a puppy! The only reason you go to this place is for the cheap prices..so you HAVE to watch them carefully! That way, my chances of mishaps goes down. However, they still usually find a way to mess up! They implanted the wrong microchip in my dog.. But I would have never taken my dog here as an adult. I usually bring my cats here to board, but the past couple of times I've had to go out of town have made me rethink this decision. First of all, I have seen the vets here and though the prices are low for vet standards, you will have to wait for at least 4 hours to see anybody. Even if you want to just pick up food (my cat is on a medicated diet), be sure to go on a day you don't have any plans on because you'll be stuck here. The last time I boarded my cats apparently one of them vomitted and the office never even bothered to call to tell me this, but they hooked him up on an IV and gave him fluid. If they would have called and explained to me the reasons behind this, I would be totally fine with it, but the fact that it wasn't until I picked up the bill until I saw the charge. I was enraged. The vet didn't even indicate which one of my cats was the one who needed the IV in the chart or on the bill.  Definitely not bringing my cats back here and I do not recommend them. Read Less

During these times you can go back with your pet when he/she sees the doctor and you wait in the room with your pet. People really should have all their facts together befor they give reviews. When I adopted my dog from the Animal Shelter they sent him to Animal Aid to be neutered (I was new in town and just picked a vet that was close to my house). I had to go back several times to have this done, because each time there was some reason they couldn't do it. The fourth, and last, time I went there we came home with kennel cough (and still not neutered). The place is worse than a zoo. I understand it's cheap, but they are seriously disorganized and when animals "mess" on the floor they just step over it and keep on going. They don't let you go back with your animal, you just drop it off in the morning and pick it back up in the evening. While that is convenient for working adults, it's also a little odd that they don't let anyone beyond the counter... Anyway, if you're looking for a cheap vet and aren't too concerned about your pets health, Animal Aid is fine for you. If you don't want to keep making return visits because your dog keeps getting sick from being there, you might want to spend the few extra dollars and find a more...professional...vet. Read Less

Tallahassee Florida 32303

Read Less

I was hoping going here would be more suitable for a college student but they ended up charging me for services I did not ask for then losing the paperwork. Furthermore, it took over 2 hours to have a simple test done. I am so dissatisfied with my experience that I would rather pay to go to more expensive vets. Read Less

She then said we'll be right with you. At this point I was feeling pissed. She must have known because she came back and got my dog. Very unprofessional. One lady was with the same guest for about 20 mins near the register. Can anyone multi-task?? No one was moving fast or acted like they wanted to hurry and assist everyone waiting. All of the employees were moving about SLOWLY! It was unbelievable. I got there at 8:30 AM and left at 9:17. They have no concern that most people are on their way to work.

Go somewhere else & spend the money! Read Less

If you need shots, testing, etc type of services and have some time to kill but need it done for affordable prices...go here.If you value your time and can afford to pay a little more or need anything more advanced, go elsewhere Read Less

Read Less

I have used Tallahassee Animal Aid since 2011 for spay/neuter surgeries and initial vaccines, microchips, etc. They are efficient and affordable without sacrificing care, although I do wish they would take more time to explain what all they have done with your animal. On my last visit, they didn't even go over the procedures, and I take a keen interest in the welfare of my animals.

They used to never remember everything they were supposed to do when my dog was dropped off (so I would call to "check on him" and remention everything, such as, "I did ask to cut his nails, right?" That way, my chances of mishaps goes down. However, they still usually find a way to mess up! They implanted the wrong microchip in my dog.. But I would have never taken my dog here as an adult. This vet serves its purpose as a great place for puppy shots, since it is so much cheaper and it's the same stuff other vets have, plus it's a great cheap place to get your dog neutered or spayed! Get ready for long wait times though! Read Less

Read Less

I think animal aid is awesome. I have gone to them since they were on Tharpe Street back in the 80's. Margo is a very compassionate and caring women and loves animals and runs Animal Aid Well. It is chaotic at times and you have to wait, but thats to be expected sometimes with any business. You can drop your pet off and leave or wait with them during 9am to 11am or 2pm tp 4pm. During these times you can go back with your pet when he/she sees the doctor and you wait in the room with your pet. People really should have all their facts together befor they give reviews. Everyone there works very hard. I have never seen them not clean up any messes. I feel they have been improperly rated! Read Less

Read Less
