Bathing:
Treat your pet to a luxurious bath. Our special, cleansing baths remove dirt, debris and that doggie pet odor- your pet will feel fresh and revitalized. If scratching is a problem, our medicated baths contain soothing agents that help stop the itching.
Behavioral Medicine:
Illness does not always have a physical cause. We employ a veterinarian with advanced training in animal behavior who helps determine the cause of such disorders as separation anxiety, obsessive behavior, and aggression issues. She will then develop a customized treatment regimen for the client.
Birds, Reptiles, Rabbits, and Small Mammals:
Veterinary medicine for exotic pets is growing as the popularity of these animals increase. With better public education in health, nutritional and environmental management, all species have greater chance for living longer and healthier lives. We employ staff veterinarians who possess experience in the care and treatment of exotics.
Boarding:
Pets are like our children- we feed, nurture and lavish attention on them. Our highly qualified kennel staff does the same when you can’t be there. We provide loving care to keep them both happy and healthy during their stay.
Day Care:
Is your pet unhappy or lonely while you’re at work? Give your companion the personal attention he or she deserves throughout the day. We offer the same TLC and additional amenities offered to our pet resort guests.
Dental Care:
Regular professional cleaning is important to maintaining your pet’s teeth. We use modern and safe ultrasound technology to clean each tooth thoroughly above and below the gum line. Dental technicians polish teeth to create a smooth, lustrous tooth surface more resistant to plaque buildup. Fluoride treatments help strengthen enamel and reduce tooth sensitivity. Advanced dental care is available to those patients who require it.
Emergency and Critical Care:
In an emergency, seconds count. Emergency care is offered during all regular business hours. In addition, we are affiliated with Pet’s Emergency at Northwood Animal Hospital, the only 24 hour emergency center in Tallahassee.
Pharmacy:
We stock a wide range of the best veterinary drugs in the animal healthcare field.

Saying goodbye to a long-time friend is painful. We work with clients to ensure their pet’s comfort and dignity. Services include grief consultation and several burial options.
House Calls:
Our mobile health unit responds to house calls if you are unable to bring your pet to the clinic. This service must be reserved in advance to allow proper time for scheduling.
Internal Medicine:
We cover all areas of internal medicine, including, but not limited to: Cardiology; Neurology; Dermatology; Gastroenterology; Orthopedic and Soft Tissue surgery; Oncology; Endocrinology.
In House Diagnostic Laboratory:
Our in house lab allows quick and accurate assessment of your pet’s blood, urine, or cell samples. We offer complete blood counts, blood chemistry and electrolyte testing, urinalysis, and cytology. We also have daily access to a nationwide laboratory for advanced blood testing, with most results returned in 24 hours.
Immunization and Wellness Care:
We strive to prevent illness whenever possible. The time and effort invested in wellness programs has rewards for both pets and owners. Our wellness programs are designed specifically for your pet and include: comprehensive physical exam, internal parasite and heartworm testing, heartworm and flea control, vaccination programs, spay and neuter packages and specialized blood tests for all life stages.
Luxury Pet Resort:
We understand that each pet has its own individual personality, preferences, and needs. Our pet resort will provide your best friend with a "home away from home". During your pet’s stay with us they will have a specific caretaker. Their stay with us will be in one of our fourteen luxury suites.
Each suite is furnished with the comforts of home and
special accommodations, including:
• sound resistant walls
• spacious flooring
• doggie door providing outdoor access (limited rooms)
• interior and exterior windows
• a private bed
• television (some including DVD players)
• daily maid service
• nightly turn down service with a treat of their owner’s choice
• daily brushing
• dietary accommodations
• complimentary bath with any three night or longer stay
Optional amenities for the truly pampered pet are also available. These include additional daily walks, pet massage, "pet-a-cures", bottled water, oral healthcare, pupsicles, pool play and more.
Our feline guests can either choose to stay in one of the resort suites or in our two level, luxury cat condos, located in a "dog free" zone. Included in their stay is a daily playtime session. The cat condos are located behind a store front glass window providing cats 24 hour access to outside viewing.

Animals feel pain and discomfort just as people do. We know that recognizing and alleviating pain in our patients helps them recover more quickly from illness and surgery.
Radiology:
Radiology-Xrays help our veterinarians evaluate musculoskeletal, cardiovascular (cardiopulmonary), gastrointestinal, reproductive and urinary systems. We also offer intra-oral radiology for our dental patients.
Surgery:
We offer many surgical procedures, the basic spay or neutering to advanced surgical techniques. All patients are carefully screened prior to surgery and anesthetics are specifically tailored to your pet. Adequate equipment allows us to constantly monitor your pet’s body temperature, blood pressure, heart and respiratory rate, and blood oxygenation during their procedure. In addition, our trained technicians also provide intense intraoperative and postoperative care for your pet.

This non-invasive, state-of-the-art technology uses sound waves to painlessly examine specific internal organs – primarily the heart and abdominal organs. Pregnancy sonograms are also available.

This vet is nice to go to for routine visits. One of the reasons we chose them was for their extended hours in hopes that if our dog got sick we could be accommodated. Since moving here, our dog has been sick twice and their response has been grossly underwhelming. We will be switching vets this week... Apparently, they schedule so tightly that they never seem able to accommodate a sick animal. It's similar to having a good human doctor and he's great for maintenance, but when you have the flu and really need to see him, he can't fit you in.

We left our 9 month old dog at the Pet Resort (traditional run) for six days. When we picked her up she smelled of urine--literally--from the top of her head to her feet. We had to throw away her bed and favorite toy that were taken to the resort for her comfort. Dogs don't like to sleep in dirty dens and if she actually had the space we were told she did, she would not have had a soiled bed and body. Further, there is NO way that those we trusted with her care did not know she was sleeping and covered in her own urine. Additionally, I brought measured out amounts of her food, adding 1 additional meal in the event we were delayed. When I got home I found there were six meals worth of food still her bag. I am horrified by the treatment my dog received and am left wondering what else happened in our absence that I don't know about.

Would NOT recommend this place for boarding your dog. I dropped off my 5 month old puppy for the weekend and she came back with a gash on her nose and her legs. She also had a horse bark which is unusual since she hardly barks at home. The staff didn't even give me the courtesy of saying what happened, they just handed her off without a word. Look for a place that will love and play with your dog instead of whatever happens here. ALSO be aware if you're dropping off your dog over the weekend they DON'T do pickups on Sunday, which in my opinion is a total scam.

I can't say enough about how wonderful and caring The Animal Hospital & Pet Resort at Southwood are. From Vixen's & Dasher's Dr. Heather Williams; staff; the Pet Resort and especially Amy B who always goes the "extra mile" to help not only me, but everyone. No matter how busy the office is when you walk in and see Amy I immediately know all is well. She is such an asset to Southwood as the first seen contact can make or break situations. She is calming; caring and professional. Hope she never leaves!!

Bringing my cat to this office is one of the best veterinary experiences I have ever had. I had to take my cat in for her annual check-up and shots. I was able to get an appointment on the weekend, which was very helpful. The staff were friendly took me and my cat back to the exam room immediately. We had virtually no wait at any time during the visit. My cat is generally pretty nervous and sometimes misbehaved at the vet, and every single staff member who handled her was gentle and patient. I genuinely believe it made a difference in her behavior; she was much more relaxed. I also very much appreciated the amount of time Dr. Alicia Smith spent with us, going over several questions I had about my cat's health, diet, and pet insurance. She was patient, very knowledgeable, and really worked on building a relationship with us. All around, you can tell that this office works hard to give you and your pet excellent care. Highly recommend!

I took my dog here to be boarded at the hospital part because the resort was full. The staff did not feed her any of the food I had packed for her along with losing the toy that I bought for her as a child (sentimental value), which I don’t understand why it was out of her cage and how it could be lost? I was pissed but willing to just not come back until the next couple days as I went to pet her she was flinching like I was going to hit her. I will NEVER return and I recommend finding another provider for your animal care because my experience was heart breaking and I never want to see my dog scared of me like that EVER again. AWFUL!

You can just FEEL the love and kindness everyone feels for the pets! They are also extremely knowledgeable and stay abreast of current topics and share the information with the pet owners in such an organized fashion! We weren’t disappointed on our first visit either once we chose them as our vet! They have a very well run process, are clear and loving and on the practical side....very affordable! Thank you, guys for taking such great care of Athena and Calypso!

Caring, attentive staff...my "I think my fur-baby has a common, simple issue but I want to bring her in just to be sure" situation turned into a "my fur-baby needs minor surgery to repair an injury" moment. I am so glad I was able to get a same-day appointment and that I did bring her in, despite my initial thoughts of the issue being one that might resolve without a visit to the vet. The staff, technicians, and vets are all very knowledgeable and caring when handling my dog; and even managed to keep her happy and calm during the terrible blackout during her boarding in one of Tallahassee's worst storms. Separation anxiety is not just experienced by your fur baby. As a fur baby mommy, I have to steel myself to leave them ~ my two German Shepherds ages 2 and 6 months ~ and I am so pleased to brag on myself because I do not have that overwhelming feeling when I take them to Southwood for either the resort or for health care. Just walking through the front door and seeing all the smiling faces just communicates how much caring and love exists there. LOVE IT!!

Great, friendly, and knowledgeable staff. There was little to no wait time, and any wait time was clearly defined to us while we were waiting. The staff never just had us sit there for an unknown period of time counting away the minutes (as I have experienced this at my previous vet). The staff also took the time to get to know my dog, not just walking in and treating him as a patient. It felt as though the staff understand that pets are extensions of some people's family.
As to pricing, greatly competitive. I was expecting the prices to be more then what they were. In turn they were cheaper then the vet that I used in my home town.

The staff never just had us sit there for an unknown period of time counting away the minutes (as I have experienced this at my previous vet). The staff also took the time to get to know my dog, not just walking in and treating him as a patient. It felt as though the staff understand that pets are extensions of some people's family.As to pricing, greatly competitive. I was expecting the prices to be more then what they were. In turn they were cheaper then the vet that I used in my home town.

One of the best vets I have ever been to. The office staff are all really nice and helpful. The veterinarians truly want what is best for your animals and don't try to rip you off. I have also boarded my two cats there and my cats loved it. They make sure they get time to run around and play. They make the experience as best as they can for the animals that stay in their animal resort. I would highly recommend taking your animals here :)

One of the best vets I have ever been to. The office staff are all really nice and helpful. The veterinarians truly want what is best for your animals and don't try to rip you off. The veterinarians at Southwood are concerned and compassionate and so is the staff. The place is kept clean with private rooms for your pet and you to step into while waiting.

This was the first time we visited Southwood Animal Hospital after being referred by a friend. It was a great experience right when we walked. Friendly staff and comfortable atmosphere. Right when I walked in I was taking to an exam room where the vet tech greeted me almost unmediatly. What I really appreciate the most was Dr. Moodoyan. She was incredibly professional, kind, and knowledgable. What impressed me the most was that she spent 80% of the time on the floor with our Golden Retriever calming her down and speaking directly to her. Our dog immediately took to her and the vet tech, which speaks volumes. I would absolutely recommend this animal hospital to friends and family.

I've truly never had a better experience with veterinarians than I have at Southwood. A couple months ago my indoor cat ran away, when he was found he was blind and clearly had broken bones and I didn't know what to do. I had never been to this location before but when I came in they provided exceptional care for both me and the cat. Unfortunately, I had to put him down but considering my loss it was the best experience it could have been. I returned when I got a new cat and the staff at Southwood animal hospital have truly remained exceptionally wonderful. I would recommend this place 100 times over and am so thankful to have found someone who loves my pets as much as I do.

I've truly never had a better experience with veterinarians than I have at Southwood. A couple months ago my indoor cat ran away, when he was found he was blind and clearly had broken bones and I didn't know what to do. I had never been to this location before but when I came in they provided exceptional care for both me and the cat. Unfortunately, I had to put him down but considering my loss it was the best experience it could have been. I returned when I got a new cat and the staff at Southwood animal hospital have truly remained exceptionally wonderful. I would recommend this place 100 times over and am so thankful to have found someone who loves my pets as much as I do.

Good vet/animal hospital that works with you to fit appointments into YOUR schedule (they're also opened Saturday). The vet spends time with you and answers all of your questions genuinely. I've taken both of my dogs here and felt they truly cared about them.My only slight complaint is that they always try sell you products they have to offer (probably an agenda driven by management for obvious rea$on$) but don't force it on you and if you say "no thanks" they move on.

Best animal hospital in Tallahassee. I was welcomed and more importantly, actually felt welcome. Everyone there was very approachable and personable. They cared about my pet and asked lots of questions to truly understand as much as they could about my cat. The doctor took her time with me and explained all the possibilities and some background on why she was interested in any test/procedure. I'm not a morning person but the receptionist certainly is, and they're on top of their game first thing in the morning!

Treat your pet to a luxurious bath. Our special, cleansing baths remove dirt, debris and that doggie pet odor- your pet will feel fresh and revitalized. If scratching is a problem, our medicated baths contain soothing agents that help stop the itching.
Behavioral Medicine:
Illness does not always have a physical cause. We employ a veterinarian with advanced training in animal behavior who helps determine the cause of such disorders as separation anxiety, obsessive behavior, and aggression issues. She will then develop a customized treatment regimen for the client.
Birds, Reptiles, Rabbits, and Small Mammals:
Veterinary medicine for exotic pets is growing as the popularity of these animals increase. With better public education in health, nutritional and environmental management, all species have greater chance for living longer and healthier lives. We employ staff veterinarians who possess experience in the care and treatment of exotics.
Boarding:
Pets are like our children- we feed, nurture and lavish attention on them. Our highly qualified kennel staff does the same when you can’t be there. We provide loving care to keep them both happy and healthy during their stay.
Day Care:
Is your pet unhappy or lonely while you’re at work? Give your companion the personal attention he or she deserves throughout the day. We offer the same TLC and additional amenities offered to our pet resort guests.
Dental Care:
Regular professional cleaning is important to maintaining your pet’s teeth. We use modern and safe ultrasound technology to clean each tooth thoroughly above and below the gum line. Dental technicians polish teeth to create a smooth, lustrous tooth surface more resistant to plaque buildup. Fluoride treatments help strengthen enamel and reduce tooth sensitivity. Advanced dental care is available to those patients who require it.
Emergency and Critical Care:
In an emergency, seconds count. Emergency care is offered during all regular business hours. In addition, we are affiliated with Pet’s Emergency at Northwood Animal Hospital, the only 24 hour emergency center in Tallahassee.
Pharmacy:
We stock a wide range of the best veterinary drugs in the animal healthcare field.
Hospice/ Euthanasia Services:
Saying goodbye to a long-time friend is painful. We work with clients to ensure their pet’s comfort and dignity. Services include grief consultation and several burial options.
House Calls:
Our mobile health unit responds to house calls if you are unable to bring your pet to the clinic. This service must be reserved in advance to allow proper time for scheduling.
Internal Medicine:
We cover all areas of internal medicine, including, but not limited to: Cardiology; Neurology; Dermatology; Gastroenterology; Orthopedic and Soft Tissue surgery; Oncology; Endocrinology.
In House Diagnostic Laboratory:
Our in house lab allows quick and accurate assessment of your pet’s blood, urine, or cell samples. We offer complete blood counts, blood chemistry and electrolyte testing, urinalysis, and cytology. We also have daily access to a nationwide laboratory for advanced blood testing, with most results returned in 24 hours.
Immunization and Wellness Care:
We strive to prevent illness whenever possible. The time and effort invested in wellness programs has rewards for both pets and owners. Our wellness programs are designed specifically for your pet and include: comprehensive physical exam, internal parasite and heartworm testing, heartworm and flea control, vaccination programs, spay and neuter packages and specialized blood tests for all life stages.
Luxury Pet Resort:
We understand that each pet has its own individual personality, preferences, and needs. Our pet resort will provide your best friend with a "home away from home". During your pet’s stay with us they will have a specific caretaker. Their stay with us will be in one of our fourteen luxury suites.
Each suite is furnished with the comforts of home and
special accommodations, including:

• spacious flooring
• doggie door providing outdoor access (limited rooms)

This vet is nice to go to for routine visits. One of the reasons we chose them was for their extended hours in hopes that if our dog got sick we could be accommodated. Since moving here, our dog has been sick twice and their response has been grossly underwhelming. We will be switching vets this week... Apparently, they schedule so tightly that they never seem able to accommodate a sick animal. It's similar to having a good human doctor and he's great for maintenance, but when you have the flu and really need to see him, he can't fit you in.

We left our 9 month old dog at the Pet Resort (traditional run) for six days. When we picked her up she smelled of urine--literally--from the top of her head to her feet. We had to throw away her bed and favorite toy that were taken to the resort for her comfort. Dogs don't like to sleep in dirty dens and if she actually had the space we were told she did, she would not have had a soiled bed and body. Further, there is NO way that those we trusted with her care did not know she was sleeping and covered in her own urine. Additionally, I brought measured out amounts of her food, adding 1 additional meal in the event we were delayed. When I got home I found there were six meals worth of food still her bag. I am horrified by the treatment my dog received and am left wondering what else happened in our absence that I don't know about.

Would NOT recommend this place for boarding your dog. I dropped off my 5 month old puppy for the weekend and she came back with a gash on her nose and her legs. She also had a horse bark which is unusual since she hardly barks at home. The staff didn't even give me the courtesy of saying what happened, they just handed her off without a word. Look for a place that will love and play with your dog instead of whatever happens here. ALSO be aware if you're dropping off your dog over the weekend they DON'T do pickups on Sunday, which in my opinion is a total scam.

I can't say enough about how wonderful and caring The Animal Hospital & Pet Resort at Southwood are. From Vixen's & Dasher's Dr. Heather Williams; staff; the Pet Resort and especially Amy B who always goes the "extra mile" to help not only me, but everyone. No matter how busy the office is when you walk in and see Amy I immediately know all is well. She is such an asset to Southwood as the first seen contact can make or break situations. Bringing my cat to this office is one of the best veterinary experiences I have ever had. I had to take my cat in for her annual check-up and shots. I was able to get an appointment on the weekend, which was very helpful. The staff were friendly took me and my cat back to the exam room immediately. We had virtually no wait at any time during the visit. My cat is generally pretty nervous and sometimes misbehaved at the vet, and every single staff member who handled her was gentle and patient. I genuinely believe it made a difference in her behavior; she was much more relaxed. I also very much appreciated the amount of time Dr. Alicia Smith spent with us, going over several questions I had about my cat's health, diet, and pet insurance. She was patient, very knowledgeable, and really worked on building a relationship with us. All around, you can tell that this office works hard to give you and your pet excellent care. Highly recommend!

I took my dog here to be boarded at the hospital part because the resort was full. The staff did not feed her any of the food I had packed for her along with losing the toy that I bought for her as a child (sentimental value), which I don’t understand why it was out of her cage and how it could be lost? I was pissed but willing to just not come back until the next couple days as I went to pet her she was flinching like I was going to hit her. I will NEVER return and I recommend finding another provider for your animal care because my experience was heart breaking and I never want to see my dog scared of me like that EVER again. AWFUL!

This is one of the most thoughtful, caring, and knowledgeable vets I’ve encountered! Before we adopted our 2 German Shepherd puppies, we “interviewed” the office and the “pet resort” . You can just FEEL the love and kindness everyone feels for the pets! They are also extremely knowledgeable and stay abreast of current topics and share the information with the pet owners in such an organized fashion! We weren’t disappointed on our first visit either once we chose them as our vet! They have a very well run process, are clear and loving and on the practical side....very affordable! Thank you, guys for taking such great care of Athena and Calypso!

This is one of the most thoughtful, caring, and knowledgeable vets I've encountered! Before we adopted our 2 German Shepherd puppies, we "interviewed" the office and the "pet resort" . You can just FEEL the love and kindness everyone feels for the pets! They are also extremely knowledgeable and stay abreast of current topics and share the information with the pet owners in such an organized fashion! Southwood Animal Hospital is fantastic. Been taking my dog there since he was a puppy and is now six. Had an ear emergency yesterday And Dr Gwynn was great. So awesome with my dog and was available after I left when I had questions. Dr Brumfield is my dogs main vet and he has kept my dog in tip top shape. The staff is amazing too

Caring, attentive staff...my "I think my fur-baby has a common, simple issue but I want to bring her in just to be sure" situation turned into a "my fur-baby needs minor surgery to repair an injury" moment. I am so glad I was able to get a same-day appointment and that I did bring her in, despite my initial thoughts of the issue being one that might resolve without a visit to the vet. The staff, technicians, and vets are all very knowledgeable and caring when handling my dog; and even managed to keep her happy and calm during the terrible blackout during her boarding in one of Tallahassee's worst storms. I will recommend Southwood to anyone looking for the best care for their furry friends.

Separation anxiety is not just experienced by your fur baby. As a fur baby mommy, I have to steel myself to leave them ~ my two German Shepherds ages 2 and 6 months ~ and I am so pleased to brag on myself because I do not have that overwhelming feeling when I take them to Southwood for either the resort or for health care. Just walking through the front door and seeing all the smiling faces just communicates how much caring and love exists there. LOVE IT!!

Key points during visit and why I would recommend:
- Staff treated my dog as if it were their own
- Friendly and knowledgeable staff
- Clean and odor free facility
- Competitive pricing
- Services offered
Great, friendly, and knowledgeable staff. There was little to no wait time, and any wait time was clearly defined to us while we were waiting. The staff never just had us sit there for an unknown period of time counting away the minutes (as I have experienced this at my previous vet). The staff also took the time to get to know my dog, not just walking in and treating him as a patient. It felt as though the staff understand that pets are extensions of some people's family.
As to pricing, greatly competitive. I was expecting the prices to be more then what they were. In turn they were cheaper then the vet that I used in my home town.

The veterinarians at Southwood are concerned and compassionate and so is the staff. The place is kept clean with private rooms for your pet and you to step into while waiting.

This was the first time we visited Southwood Animal Hospital after being referred by a friend. It was a great experience right when we walked. Friendly staff and comfortable atmosphere. Right when I walked in I was taking to an exam room where the vet tech greeted me almost unmediatly. What I really appreciate the most was Dr. Moodoyan. She was incredibly professional, kind, and knowledgable. What impressed me the most was that she spent 80% of the time on the floor with our Golden Retriever calming her down and speaking directly to her. Our dog immediately took to her and the vet tech, which speaks volumes. I would absolutely recommend this animal hospital to friends and family.

I've truly never had a better experience with veterinarians than I have at Southwood. A couple months ago my indoor cat ran away, when he was found he was blind and clearly had broken bones and I didn't know what to do. I had never been to this location before but when I came in they provided exceptional care for both me and the cat. Unfortunately, I had to put him down but considering my loss it was the best experience it could have been. I returned when I got a new cat and the staff at Southwood animal hospital have truly remained exceptionally wonderful. I would recommend this place 100 times over and am so thankful to have found someone who loves my pets as much as I do.

I've truly never had a better experience with veterinarians than I have at Southwood. A couple months ago my indoor cat ran away, when he was found he was blind and clearly had broken bones and I didn't know what to do. I had never been to this location before but when I came in they provided exceptional care for both me and the cat. Unfortunately, I had to put him down but considering my loss it was the best experience it could have been. Good vet/animal hospital that works with you to fit appointments into YOUR schedule (they're also opened Saturday). The vet spends time with you and answers all of your questions genuinely. I've taken both of my dogs here and felt they truly cared about them.My only slight complaint is that they always try sell you products they have to offer (probably an agenda driven by management for obvious rea$on$) but don't force it on you and if you say "no thanks" they move on.

Best animal hospital in Tallahassee. I was welcomed and more importantly, actually felt welcome. Everyone there was very approachable and personable. They cared about my pet and asked lots of questions to truly understand as much as they could about my cat. The doctor took her time with me and explained all the possibilities and some background on why she was interested in any test/procedure. I'm not a morning person but the receptionist certainly is, and they're on top of their game first thing in the morning!
