Banfield Pet Hospital

Tampa, Florida
General Info
Every aspect from lobby arrangements to exam room acoustics at Banfield Pet Hospital in Tampa is meticulously designed to prevent negative imprinting so companion animals throughout Florida learn to associate veterinary care with consistent calmness. The design of the entrance experience intentionally decelerates visitor movement. Pets have the option to remain in vehicles if desired while sensory-sensitive animals can access premises via specific side entrances. Low-stimulus rooms provide environments where individuals can become accustomed to scents while settling through observation. Only when the animal regains fundamental spatial awareness does the examination procedure initiate. Pet owners detail their animals' morning routines alongside visitor reactions and home discomfort signals which all factor into planning daily visits. Banfield Pet Hospital enables diagnostic procedures alongside assessments of hydration status while providing injury monitoring and surgical consultation services together with cardiopulmonary evaluations and immune health mapping. Medical treatments exhibit adaptable timing where diagnostic pauses occur and treatments resume later or spread across days when imprint risks demand caution. Memory cues specific to each species remain intact particularly for cats senior dogs and exotic animals which retain environmental associations for extended periods. Post-treatment guidance directs efforts toward home reintegration. Determine which space serves as a resting area while experimenting with light and scent to induce calmness and adjusting routines when appetite or mobility are temporarily disrupted. Follow-ups emerge through emotional recalibration rather than simple symptom regression. Families in Tampa and the broader Florida region experience Banfield Pet Hospital's care as it becomes an integral part of their pets' memories routines and future visits.

My puppy had an appt this morning at 11am, when I arrived the lady at the front desk says "beans"had an appt today at 10:15am am telling her "ma'am there must be a mistake my appt time was for 11am. Her response was calm down we are still going to see him. I sat down and just ignore when they called me the vet tech was really nice she greeted us warmly and very friendly. Few min later the Dr comes in he doesn't introduce himself and all he says like he's in a rush to go is "Do you seem to have any concern?" And my response to him was am sorry you are and what is your name ? He reply to me my name is Dr Humphrey. Then he asked again do you have any concern ? Didn't  even let me finish and gives my puppy his shot and tell me your gonna have to come back next week for the following dose and then the following for the next dose. He didn't even acknowledge me or anything in my opinion he's very unprofessional will not be taking my puppy back.he just wanted to leave and he didn't want to be there. Read Less

I've been bringing my cat, Koro, here for about 2 years. He's fiv positive, and has a very sensitive stomach. The staff has always been friendly and helpful to work out he's needs. On a special note- 3 weeks ago Koro became incredibly sick. I had made an appointment, but by accident at the wrong location. I showed up here, and when I told them what was wrong with him not only did they take him in, Dr Gupta made the effort to come in and check him personally and talk to me about him since FIV cats can die from basic infections and sickness (which i'm already well aware of, but the fact he came in to check him and make sure I knew what it means is important to me). Both the doctor, and nurses all went above and beyond to take care of Koro & make sure we went home with care. I'm glad to say he's been progressing steadily back to a healthy cat since! Read Less

I absolutely love this Banfield! I've been coming to this location for over a year now. The vet and his techs are great! My dog doesn't even get nervous although she has at all other offices. They make every aspect of keeping up with your pet's veterinary needs really easy here. The wellness plan is like health insurance for your pet. They remind you when your pet is due for an exam or vaccine or needs a prescription refill and scheduling an appointment can be done through their online portal or over the phone. They always call a day before the appointment as a reminder as well. They allow you to pay off any surgical procedure through a monthly payment plan, which is definitely a plus. The wellness plans start out around $30/month. I've already recommended to all of my friends and family with pets. Read Less

I wanted to focus this review on the care of my pet because when your animal is sick that is the only thing that really matters. I will say they got me an appointment quickly and that is where my praise ends. Before even seeing my cat they were selling me pet insurance...why? I am not here for pet insurance. I am here so you can treat my cat for the current problem which would not even be covered by your insurance plan. Next, the vet came in and I could tell right away he was very uncomfortable with handling my cat. His energy immediately changed the feeling of the room and my cats behavior. It was a struggle the remainder of the visit to complete the exam and treatment. He required a great deal of restraint and the vet jumping backwards at every flinch of my cat shows me a lack of comfort and competence working with animals. I know my cat appears exotic but it does not mean his temperament is aggressive. He is quite the opposite and a people lover. (I would like to say I recently visited a different vet specializing in cats in which we had absolutely no issues with behavior. He was actually going over to the vet for attention and to be pet because he is a very friendly cat! And this was after his exam!) After struggling through the exam I was not given a differential for what could be the possible causes of his skin condition and no education about what to do to prevent said cause (which ended up being completely incorrect). The testing done was not complete and poorly explained. As a medical professional, I knew which questions to ask and received less than confident answers about my cats diagnosis which lead me to loose trust in the vet's abilities. After seeing a different vet it became evident how poor the care for my cat had been here. I will never return and actively tell those I know to never take their pet here due to sub par care. I feel my time and money was wasted but more importantly my pets health was put at risk due to incompetence. Read Less

I really wish I can give this hospital a 0 this is by far the WORSE customer service experience I have ever had to deal with. The nurses are so rude and unprofessional. They are all incompetent. All they care about is money and the only time they follow up is to give you a ridiculous unreasonable amount. I had a very poor experience and asked to speak to the owner John who is extremely condescending and has very poor communication skills. This is definitely money driven environment. My pitbull is terrified of the nurses so I very skeptical on how the treat my dog. I have been going to this specific location for the past 10 years and you would think they would treat me with a bit more respect but they haven't even tried to help me. They performed surgery on my dog and did not do a good job stitching back the wound. When I took my dog for a follow their response was "It's not THAT bad". It looked awful in my opinion and furthermore my Pitbull was in PAIN!! When you ask the nurses questions they do not know the response. I have very little confidence that they are educated enough to be in the business that they are in. They lost my business. I wish I can escalate this matter more. I am beyond livid and I would try to find a better adjective to describe the service but the only thing I can say is it's TRASH! Do not waste your time or money here!!!!! Read Less

I really can't stand people who write bad reviews and never thought i would ever have to write one, let alone be upset enough to write one. i will always give someone the benefit of the doubt but when it comes to my pets it is a different story. and unfortunately, this establishment does not have the best reputation. so even more reason to warn others before they sign up for a bullsh*t membership and leave their babies in this establishment's care.  Dr. Gupta is a rude, impatient, condescending man who I personally do not feel comfortable with caring for my animals. the attitude he gave me and impatience he had throughout our visit is only an indication on how he treats the animals in his care. there was no empathy, there was no caring, thoughtful assistance. I felt like I was doing something wrong by asking questions. if he treats his customers with this type of disrespect, i can only imagine how he would treat a resistant or wining animal. we will not be coming back. I completely agree with most of the horrible testimony of people. This is by far the worst experience I have ever had in a Vet's office. First, my dog was having some serious pain and the Vet call me saying that "He is happy healthy dog." I didn't take his word, so I took him to another vet (having to pay extra 500$) in order to have my pet diagnosed. My dog was shaking an unable to walk, but the Vet at Banfield was unable to see beyond that. I will definitely do not recommend D. Gupta - he didn't even had the opportunity to talk to me face to face. I explain to him the symthoms and he didn't even acknowledge. Read Less

I've had a long and tumultuous history with this place (don't get me started on their "Wellness Plan"). I'm writing this review now because I don't want anyone else to go through what my dogs been through over the past two weeks. Two weeks ago, we brought her in for a teeth cleaning - they put her under, insert a trach tube for breathing, and she comes out with some nice pearly whites. Awesome! ....Until a couple of days ago. She starts coughing, honking intermittently throughout the day. We think nothing of it until she wakes us up at 4 a.m. (yesterday 1/16) in a fit of coughing like I've never seen before. I schedule an appointment at Banfield for the next day, and leave for work. I come home from work and my dog is pressed up against our front door, hyperventilating for no reason. It doesn't stop. I rush her to Banfield where I pay $45 to "consult" with Dr. Gupta who essentially says there's nothing we can do now, I advise you take her to Blue Pearl (24/7 emergency clinic). Long story short - turns out our dog has aspiration pneumonia with a 104-degree fever when we took her in. What could it be from? The doctor at Blue Pearl, nor I, want to play the blame game, but apparently animal hospitals (especially high volume ones like Banfield) can get a little sloppy with their teeth cleanings - not blocking off the area and letting the excess water from the cleaning run straight down into the dog's lungs. Nothing in her daily routine had changed in those two weeks. Nothing. I don't know what else could've caused my otherwise healthy dog to contract pneumonia besides the teeth cleaning procedure at Banfield. There are probably many reasons this place has almost twice as many 1-star reviews than 5-star reviews. Take this as one of them. Read Less

Been going to Banfield for 2.5 years as it was around the corner from my house and they would take drop offs. Today was our last visit.I've never been thrilled with the service we have received, doctors tend to be condescending, techs read from a script, no flexibility whatsoever on seeing a dog when they need medical attention.A few months ago i was exactly 3 minutes late for our appointment due to the traffic light to get into the shopping center. I even called and said we were stuck at the light. When we walked in, they told me they gave my appointment away...we were less than 5 minutes away. I argued with the tech for a few minutes who just kept repeating, "i understand and i'm sorry."So today, my dog appeared to have the early stages of mange. I called in the morning and asked if there had been any cancellations, and went with Banfield because they already have her records. The tech said to bring her by at 3:30 and took my information.Fast forward to 3:30 today, my husband brings her in and the techs "have no record of her to be seen today" and that they "understand and i'm sorry." My husband called me and handed the phone to the tech and I told her we had been promised a 3:30 spot this morning and the tech said the same exact thing to me that she said to my husband. I told her I didn't care, that my dog needs medical attention and I was promised she would be seen. After going back and forth for several minutes and a million "i understand and i'm sorry"'s later, the tech goes to the back and comes out and said they can see her.The doctor sees her and confirms it's not mange just an abrasion, then proceeds to tell us we should get her an appointment to go under anesthesia for a teeth cleaning. Please just stop with the sales pitches and focus on better care for the dogs and better customer service for the people paying your bills.I've had enough of the back and forth, we'll be headed elsewhere. Would give a 0. The techs are all great however Dr Humphrey is terrible! My dogs ear was bitten at daycare and we couldn't get it to stop bleeding. Every time he shook his head it reopened. We took him to banfield Bc he has the puppy plan. We weren't even called back to the examination room when he was looking at my dog. He sent a tech out to go over the "plan" and prices. He immediately said he needed surgery! Surgery! For a small tear on his ear! Talk about 0 to 100. A 900 dollar surgery and I never saw him even examine my dog. Thank god I am a nurse and have a medical background to know better. Intubation, anesthesia, a catheter, 130 dollar antibiotics!! For a few sutures!!! What a freaking joke. We took him to another banfield down the road. Best decision we could have made. The vet there came in and examined him. Immediately came up w a game plan. Stop the bleeding. She dressed the ear to his head to stabilize it when he shakes to keep him from causing more trauma and rebleeding. She then explained that the ears have tons of vessels and how it was torn, surgery and sutures would do nothing. NOTHING! She said all we can do is stop the bleeding and let it heal on its own. The only reason he would need surgery was if a hematoma developed and it needed to be drained or if the area became necrotic. She gave him rabies vaccine, which the previous banfield never addressed and also gave him some antibiotics. The total was 160!!! She even wanted to see him the following day to redress the area and check the areas blood supply. I have had other issues with this banfield. One time my mother dropped off my dog when he had an ear ache. They told her he was due for blood work, physical, fecal examine and all this other crap. Even showed her a price quote for a couple hundred dollars. She didn't know better and agreed. They called awhile later to say they got my dog and another dog with the same name mixed up and he was ready to be picked up he just needed an ear wash! I'm also just now finding out that follow up visits are free. Not one time has this location ever mentioned coming in for a follow up. They just call to ask "how is your dog after the visit?" Literally the next day. I'm not the freaking vet so how the hell should I know if he is better a day later. Pretty sure his ear ache isn't cured overnight!!!I will never go back to see that vet. He's freaking scary! I'm so glad I found the other banfield. Dr Miller is the best and later I found out she was top of her class! I believe it. I was complaining about the other vet and afterwards I was really impressed how professional she was and didn't bash him... even though she clearly disagreed with his treatment plan.  Again, don't go to the banfield in the petsmart on dale Mabry. Drive 15 more minutes and go to the stand alone banfield by publix. Totally worth it. Read Less

I downloaded the yelp app solely so I could express my discontent with this company. I was scammed into purchasing one of their wellness plans. The last month of my wellness plan my dog needed a shot. They refused to return my phone call until the day after my plan had expired, so I was forced to pay for the shot (shots are included with your wellness plan which is why I decided to purchase one). But that is just a minor inconvenience compared to the hell Banfield has put me through. My dog has demodectic mange and was put on ivermectin. The medication was not working and was making my dog sick. I googled the medication to find that her breed (border collie) is allergic to this medication! At this point I was still on their wellness plan and was unable to cancel; even though they had prescribed my dog a medication her breed was allergic to. Other than their negligence, I have had nothing but horrible experiences at every visit. Aside from the staff being rude, I leave you with the caveat they will always insist on running random tests on your animal, which they obviously charge extra for. They are never able to properly run the test, something as simple as a urine or blood sample, so they have to resort to plan b; a test that is usually double the price. Switching vets was not an easy solution. Every time I called to have my dogs records faxed to my new vet, they would refuse to send it. In summation I feel this practice is concerned with their profits and not the welfare of the animals they treat. Read Less

One thing I think explains a lot is when you look at all these bad reviews, the response from Lisa' is copied and pasted. It's the same one on every bad review! And that's how they treat their clients and their pets. I hate writing reviews like this. I truly do but when it's necessary to help others not have this same experience, I must. I would have given minus stars if I could. Same as you, my dogs are my children. They are my family and I love them more than anything in this world. I brought my dog in to get a check up and get a teeth cleaning and they had called me and said he needed a couple teeth pulled. I was fine with it and told them to go ahead. For the record, when i got there they had pulled out 14 of his teeth. You heard me. 14. All his bottom teeth and a few choice others. The reason I knew this is because they charged me for every individual tooth and when I saw that I lost it. I demanded they give me the teeth and they did. I still have them. One tooth had a small brown spot and the rest there was nothing wrong with. It was completely unnecessary. They charge per tooth and I would have paid ten times that for them not to do that to him.My dog looks like and old man constantly pushing his tongue through the spaces in his tooth gaps.I brought them to another vet and she was sorely disappointed at these actions. On to the next part and another reason you should never go there.I found a lump at the base of my dogs tail and I wouldn't have gone back to this place but I had that prepaid insurance so I figured I would see what they would say. They said they had to remove it immediately, remove his tail and he will have to lose some anal muscles and we would have to start radiation and chemotherapy immediately. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I was devastated. He's been my best friend for ten years and his breed will live 16-18.I decided to get a second opinion as anyone with a diagnosis like that should.I went to a vet that a friend suggested and he looked into it did some tests, told me what 'could happen' and we went into it with a good attitude. My best friend is sitting next to me right now, with his tail and all his anal muscles and no lump. He's healthy as a little Ox and in love with life.I highly suggest when it comes to vets, go to a private practice and not a corporation that just wants your cash. The last thing that happened and the last time I dealt with them. I still had insurance there so picked up some flea and tick monthly meds and that was it. They had the intestinal fortitude to call me and tell me I owed them money on a prepaid insurance plan! Are you kidding me? And then the secretary whoever he was yelled at me on the phone when I told him to sue me. What a fiasco. It took everything in me not to be extremely violent with these people. And that's not a joke, I would fantasize about doing to them what they did to my dog. I know that sounds horrible but it's the truth.Avoid this place at all costs.Find a private practice vet. On Monday, Aug 1st, 2016, I took my dog to the hospital, because he had stopped eating, was throwing up, and hid under the bed for two days. They told me they didn't have a "space" for my dog. I told them my dog was a regular patient and that this was an emergency. The only option they gave me was to "drop-off" the dog and leave, so that a vet could check him if he had time... Hello, this was an emergency! They showed no compassion nor empathy. I had to leave with my sick dog, who was visibly in pain. I was lucky to find Tampa Veterinary Hospital in West Kennedy Ave. They checked my dog in less than 20 min after I checked-in. They had to perform an emergency operation on my dog. They were very caring and loving, so different from the lack of interest and compassion received at Banfield Hospital. My dog is recovering now and soon will be back home. Banfield Hospital is clearly a money making business who doesn't really care about dogs well-being. Needless to say, they lost a customer and an advocate.Read Less

I was a customer at this Banfield for years and had nothing but issues. I stayed a client for longer than I should have because A. I was extremely busy with work and didn't have the time to find a new veterinarian and B. I am fairly laid back and try to give people/companies the benefit of the doubt. The wait time is ridiculous. In the beginning I would take my dog to his appointment which would usually be a 2-3 hour endeavor for basic, routine shots. I then switched to dropping him off and then picking him up later in the day. I would still end up waiting 20-30 minutes at drop off and pick up, so any way you slice it you are going to spend some time waiting. Banfield definitely doesn't have any concern for their clients time. The front desk staff is hit or miss. A few were very polite and welcoming, but depending on who was there I often was met with either rudeness or pure incompetency. One woman in particular was terrible and I always dreading dealing with her because she had such a poor attitude. I started ordering my heartworm and flea preventative from an online company because it was drastically cheaper than Banfield. The company had to have documentation from Banfield stating that my dog had a recent negative heartworm test to send me the meds. This Banfield basically refused to send it. They initially told me that he was due for his HW test and they couldn't send a negative test result-which was untrue. I pointed out that he had just had the test several months before and they then gave in and said that they would fax it-which they never did. After 4-5 calls to request them to fax it and them not doing it, I gave up. I spoke with the pet meds company to cancel my order and they told me that they have issues with Banfield hospitals because they don't want their customers going elsewhere for cheaper meds as its a money maker for them. This office is constantly trying to up charge you or sell you something new at every visit. I had the wellness plan for my dachshund and even with paying almost $40 a month, I still would find myself paying $50-$100 out of pocket on each visit for things that were not covered on the plan. They also ask that you visit every 6 months instead of a routine yearly visit and I believe that this is purely to get more money out of clients. Keep in mind my dog was young, healthy, and only going for his routine shots and I probably spent $600-$800 yearly on just the routine yearly shots/physical. The icing on the cake was when I took my dog in for a skin issue. A previous vet had diagnosed him with allergies years before but I wanted to have him checked out as he seemed to have a flare up. The vet immediately diagnosed him with ringworm which completely alarmed me because it's extremely contagious to people and other animals. She ran a battery of tests, skin scrapings, and prescribed a host of creams, washes, and meds to go home with him. The skin scrapping to officially diagnose the ringworm would take days to get back but she was insistent it was ringworm. I spent the next week cleaning, washing, and quarantining my dachshund from my family and other animals. He had to get medicated baths and have ointments slathered all over him. I spent almost $1000 on his treatments. The day the results were to be ready came and I never heard from Banfield. I had to call their office three different times to finally get someone to tell me that he in fact did not have ringworm and that all the treatments I was giving him and all the money I spent were not necessary. No apology. I promptly took him to another vet who diagnosed him with allergies and gave him the proper treatment. That vet also questioned how a vet could mistake ringworm with his type of skin allergies as the two look nothing alike. I eventually cancelled his wellness plan (which was another fiasco in itself) and found a better vet's office after moving out of state.Bottom line: a greedy, corporate company that only cares about money and less about quality care or customer service. I am involved in the rescue world and I never recommend Banfield to those who ask. Read Less

I wish I could give 0 starts. Where to start: I found an abandoned cat last year and took him in to have him checked out, get shots if needed, etc. I was sold the Banfield plan which I thought was great - at the time. They gave my cat his shots, "examined him" in a back room (which I thought was weird, as did my mom who has a number of cats and they've always examined the cats in front of her), and said he was perfectly healthy. I took him home and immediately noticed a HUGE bump at the base of his tail. I touched it and he yelped. It was clear he was in pain. I moved his fur back a little bit and noticed a huge bite that was clearly infected. I called them back and they said they couldn't get him in for days. I was like ummm....my cat is clearly in pain and has an infection. Finally after 4 calls and pleas, they gave him an appointment. I don't know how they didn't notice this before during his "comprehensive examination". They said they've give him an antibiotic shot (and they did, but half of it dripped on the exam table before they even put the needle in him). They were about to send him away and I was like what do you want me to do about his pain? They were like "oh, that". So we went on our way, a little hesitant about them, but willing to accept their "mistake". My cat started scooting and twitching a ton so I called and made an appointment. They didn't even do a fecal test - they just blamed him and didn't address my concern of the twitching and rippling of his back after asking 3 times. He had to go back for another shot a couple of weeks later and he was still scooting and twitching so I asked about it again. Ignored about the twitching, blamed him for the scooting (I was asking directly about feline hyperesthesia because his symptoms were so consistent with it). I was ignored. This was on a Saturday. On Monday, I called another vet near my home to get a second opinion. I brought him in that day and they were horrified that they didn't do a fecal test. The vet did a fecal exam and saw something in his stool. She analyzed it under a microscope and it was some sort of bacteria. She prescribed him a medication, gave him a refill, and guess what? The scooting stopped and the bacteria was gone as we had it sent to a lab to find out if there was anything else there. This has cost me so much money because of lazy and uncaring vets. I also got the twitching issue addressed - and he was diagnosed with feline hyperesthesia as I previously thought. They care way more about getting money out of you, up-selling everything they can. The $ comes first, the pet comes second (well, I'm sure they'll find something else to put second - let's just say the pet comes last). When I complained directly to Banfield, they blamed me. I wasn't asking for a refund - I was asking for them to cancel my plan, considering I had proof that they missed a TON of things wrong with my cat. They wouldn't do it. Read Less

Not only that but they diagnosed my cat diabetic and prescribed him insulin and prescription food. He dehydrated and almost died and I had to bring him into the emergency room a few weeks after. Over $400 visit + $300 for insulin. I ended up switching his diet to fancy feast classic and off the prescription food. He's back up to 10 pounds from a skinny 7 pounds. I am torn as to what to rate Banfield because I think it really depends on what vet you see. Dr. Certa is so wonderful and if I only interacted with him I would give 5 stars. He is always positive and knowledgeable. I think having a vet who is kind and cheerful goes such a long way in making a great impression. Unfortunately I've also experienced other vets who did not come off as friendly at all. They were curt and sometimes judgmental. I took my dog there once because he had a little skin tag growing by his eye. Dr. Certa wasn't available and the vet we saw kept saying it was best to get it removed immediately for several hundred dollars. I'm so glad I stuck to my guts and waited to see if it grew. It literally just fell off two days later. Based on that experience alone I might give Banfield a 1! Read Less

This is by far the worst experience I have ever had at a Vet's office. My wife and I waited 90 minutes for the vet to show up to our appointment. Our vet was Dr. Gupta and he was incredibly rude. I've never felt so uncomfortable at a vet's office and have never had a vet be so condescending. We went to get our cat treated for tapeworm as it is flea season and although we do our best (using Revolution every month and Comfortis during heavier outbreaks) it is difficult to fully get rid of fleas during summer months in FL. Dr. Gupta kept telling us over and over that we need to get our cat on flea medicine even though our cat is already on flea medicine which we had to repeat to him over and over. It was as though he did not believe what we were telling him. Our experience was akin to a teenager receiving a lecture from his parents for something he did not do. He then tried to sell us random products that were completely unnecessary after we already told him we did not want them. Safe to say we will never come back here again and would never recommend this Vet. You are much better off going to a smaller office where they treat people with respect. Unfortunately we had to learn this the hard way. Read Less

The positives about this place... its clean, and they have a friendly front staff that remember you. I dont normally give poor reviews but these are our fur babies and they deserve the best. However, I am not impressed at all. They ALWAYS try to upsell you in some way, whether they are trying to sell their care package or everytime I have been they always say I need to do a teeth or ear cleaning or something, even though I have very healthy indoor cats. I always leave wondering whether or not I was paying for necessary things. Most recently I called a little frantic because I discovered my cats had tapeworms. Unfortuantely I missed a month of flea medicine and BAM. So, the lady I spoke to on the phone seemed rushed and not very concerened, she said she would call me back before giving me any indication if they would be able to see my cats or not (even though Ive been going there since they were kittens.) About 30 minutes later with no call back I called again and spoke to a gentleman who was kind but short and told me he couldnt see them that day and didnt offer my any options. I found another vet (Tampa Veterinary Hospital) which I will be going to from now on. I gave them 5 stars. Read Less

We had moved from North Tampa to South Tampa and changed vets to be closer to our home. I had enjoyed taking my girls to this clinic until today. I have a 14 yr old dog that ran out or medication she needs to sustain a quality of life. The technician refused to refill her perscription she has been on for over 10 years. They advised that I should take her to her last vet to refill her medication. Well needless to say if they are so uncaring not to take care of the needs of my senior dog then I don't need them to take care of any of my dogs. I have moved their records back to their original vet and will tolerate the 45 min drive to their old vet. Just as an fyi, I contacted the previous vet they took her in the same day and put refilled her perscription with a fu visit in two weeks to accomodate the well being of the dog. Now if Bayshore had did the same offer then I would not have moved their records. I don't need a vet that does put the animals well being as the first priority. The front staff is very nice, the technician I dealt with was uncaring and unprofessional in meeting the needs of my dog. Read Less

I would have a agreed with some of the former reviews last year. My 2 boys have been with Banfield since we rescued them. 1 is 9 years old, the other is 5 (originally we were at the Citrus Park location, but moved to S. Tampa.) Just like the others at the Dale Mabry location, I was having issues with not getting calls back, the vet assistants not handling my boys very well (my older one- who's so laid back- even sprayed one guy), pick up and drop off time, to not seeing the same vet twice. Finally, with our last 3 visits for shots, teeth cleaning, and a bad cut, I've come to trust the vet they have there now. He's attentive, calls back himself, personable, and I don't feel like he's trying to rip me off with unnecessary tests, meds, foods, etc. When I arrived to pick up my boys, he has come out to talk with me every single time. Check in & out was no big deal. I really like having them on the wellness plan as it discounts a ton also! Maybe it was growing pains - this location hasn't been open that long. Maybe they just needed to find the right fit in personnel. But this new guy definitely deserves a shot! & I really hope they've shut the revolving door. Read Less

I have been taking my four dogs to this clinic since it opened. I joined their wellness plan after carefully reviewing many sites and  the full contract. I was aware of the horrible reviews of Banfield the Pet Hospital in general. I took their wellness plan on one of my dogs. I wish I would have known about this plan much earlier. The price of the "wellness" plan in actuality pays for itself throughout  the year. Yes when you join the plan, they over inflate the prices and that is evident. Remember this is not insurance this is a wellness plan. If you get a calculator and start counting the vet visits, the blood chemistry that this performed, the vaccines, and the dreaded yearly dental cleaning the plan pays for itself, and you see that you do save some money or break even. I have never encountered any problems that appear to be posted on review sites. The veterinarian and the staff do care about your pet. If they suggest something you don't have to perform it right away. You can check prices everywhere and see if it is comparable to theirs, and it usually is 8 times out of 10 with the discount each plan has. It is very convenient to be able to drop off your pet and pick up in the afternoon and if any extra charges that are perceived by the veterinarian before the procedure he or she will inform you, as the consumer has the right to proceed, or not with the procedure or to have the extra work done, They do not force anything on you. Due to their expert care, I have had my four dogs enrolled in the plan and will continue with their enrollment annually.. Remember it is a "Wellness Plan" The more visits and early detection a pet has the longer the life span of a healthy and vibrant pet. I also have a separate veterinarian just in the event something happens after hours, since they do not open after hours or if something that may not be feasible for them to do. Remember "Wellness Plan" Yes they do care about your pet. Five stars for this clinic, staff, and Banfield's Wellness Plan. I'm not an employee and do not receive proceeds from this company. Read Less

Read Less

Read Less

Read Less
