The best vet in South Tampa. They are conservative, truly love animals, and don't charge a horrible amount with their fees. All of the vets here are great but we really love Dr Bimonte. We don't trust our two little dogs to anyone else. Read Less

Dr Moore is awesome!! He has got to be one of the most compassionate people I think I have ever met. He and his team of the greatest staff who seem to all work as a family and they are not even related treated me and my family as if we were the most important individuals there. When I transferred to Tampa for the military, I researched many animal hospitals to find the best and most affordable  vet for dental cleaning. Dale Mabry had the best pricing and friendly staff. I was not charged for the initial consult and was giving a credit for twenty dollars for which I applied to lab test fee. In addition,  the  dental cleaning fee was lower than the estimate I received because it wasn't as  much work needed.  After the cleaning, I got a report to include pictures of before and after cleaning. There really is a reason why this place has such amazing reviews compared to other vet offices. All of the staff, from the actual doctors to the techs and front office staff are all incredibly friendly and accommodating. I love the "walk in only" structure, you have the ability to be seen first if you arrive upon opening and there's never overbooking issues or long wait times for appointments like other vet offices. Prices are fair, they never try to gouge you for services your pet doesn't need. I also love their online site for purchasing flea and heartworm meds, and they're always sending out coupons via email. I rushed in after work just minutes from closing time fully expecting them to request I return at a time that was not so close to 5:30. Fantastic experience from "Start to Finish" They accept walk ins, it was our first time with our new puppy, (a meet and greet with the vet), and everyone was so nice, and you could tell true, caring animal lovers. The front desk welcomed our puppy and started getting his info., in just a few minutes we were back with Patrick the technician, who really took his time with our Max and getting his info., weight, checking microchip etc... Especially since Max was a rescue. Dr. Davila was in just a few minutes later and not only gave Max a thorough physical, but offered much insight and many suggestions for the care of this newest addition to the family. As a new dog-mommy to a rescue, it is such a breath of fresh air to receive such consistent, caring, informative assistance from the team at Dale Mabry. Since he is a rescue and we don't know our little boy's full history, it's great to have a vet that is so comprehensive and understanding. In addition, as a walk-in clinic, it is wonderful to have little-to-no wait time when coming in. We also took advantage of their boarding service, and the kennel tech did a fantastic job caring for our dog and making him feel comfortable. I took my brand new 10 week old "Teddy Bear" puppy to these Veterinarians' last week for the first time and they were all extremely awesome and caring when I walked in!! I had an ordeal with "Teddy" when I brought him in, he had thrown up all in his carrier, it was all over me my car...as soon as a walked in, they took him from my arms, took my carrier and washed him up as well as my carrier and played with him to calm him down!! They were just awesome! And the Vet who saw him, Dr. Davila, was very knowledgeable and handled Teddy with tremendous care, as well as his Technician. I'm new to the area and I've tried a couple different vets out for my puppy. Every other vet rushed his/her time seeing us or got frustrated because Pistol my year old pointer wouldn't calm down. So last week I decided to give Dale Mabry animal hospital a try. And I absolutely loved the service. The vet tech explained everything the vet would do when he came in. He explained what the vet would probably put her on and he answered every question we had. The vet was wonderful. He explained everything in such detail. He explained all different kinds of options that we could try. Even after leaving the vet they still impressed me. I got an email to download this app they have. The pet partner app. It has when her shots expire. The medication they put her on and dosage. You can make appointments on the app. Refill prescriptions and even order food. Having that app really shows me that they care about their animals. I'd definitely tell everyone to go to Dale Mabry Animal hospital. Read Less

Great doctors, very friendly and informative. Not afraid to recommend that you take the animal to another specialty doctor if necessary for treatment. All staff are very compassionate toward my cats, which is greatly appreciated when they're not doing well. Like that you can just go as a walk in and that appointments are not required. THIS PLACE IS A RIPOFF. I bring my family's 6 month old kitten in because he was in rough shape. Lethargic, not eating, actually had a yellow tint to him. This place charged me $585 for "tests" on a 5 lb kitten. And they couldn't tell me a thing after all of these tests were done. Both vets said "we don't know what happened to your cat because we were not there to monitor what he may have gotten in to." No crap you weren't there. I wasn't either. That's why I'm paying $585, for you to tell me what happened. They gave me the same possibilities that I could find on google. Only after I mentioned he may have been exposed to some toxins outside (pesticides, plants maybe) did they consider it may have been that. Why dont you have a test to look at that? A few months back our dog had a blockage in his intestines, they ran tests for every conceivable cause for a bill of about $600, they wanted to keep him overnight for another $700, and then take him in for emergency surgery in the morning for I'm sure much more money. I just took him home and fed him some pumpkin to loosen his stool; he was back to normal in an hour. They would have needlessly cut him open, I'd never go back. Read Less

I've been going to Dale Mabry Animal Hospital since 2009.  They've taken great care of my Boston Terrier, Zorro.  Their staff has always been very friendly and helpful with advice.  I also checked pricing and they were extremely competitive.  Oh, and on a side note.  I went to a well-known chain vet for a check up once and the vet told me my puppy was overweight and needed to get his teeth cleaned.  Zorro is solid muscle and is on a strict diet.  And I brush his teeth WEEKLY.  I decided to take him in to Dale Mabry Animal Hospital to get his teeth cleaned (as instructed by this large corporation), only to get a phone call about 10 minutes later that I should pick Zorro up because his teeth were healthy and clean and no need for him to go under anesthesia.  I couldn't believe it!  They saved my puppy from going under and saved me from the cost of a dental cleaning.  Thanks DMAH! way too much drama and questionable business practices will have me looking elsewhere for boarding.  cannot believe I was snookered again by them. they confirmed my reservation and when I dropped off my dog, given a hefty bill to update his shots, seems his current ones expire the last day of his boarding.  don't you think they could have pointed that out when they accepted the boarding request?  So thankful for our vets at Hyde Park who were so gracious to work him in their very full schedule at the last minute.  Cost me a couple of travel hours for a business trip  to get it squared away.  And when I returned to drop him off with the updated shot record, instead of an apology, I was greeted by a vet who did not introduce himself with harsh words that I had "disrespected" his clerk. He was unable to explain what words or actions led to this assessment .... I was in too much shock to have  come up with anything worthy of such.  And to top if off, they did not point out that my dog had developed a large hot spot right on his fore head while he was there and did not offer medication recommendations.... A friend has been going to the clinic for 25 years.  They adopted a new family member recently and unfortunately he had heartworms.  The treatment given to this poor dog (by Dr. Moore)  was a rapid treatment and it caused him to have a stroke paralyzing his back hind legs.  With a heavy heart his parents had to put him down.The parents of this wonderful, fun-loving dog were never given the option to do a rapid treatment or slow treatment.  They trusted the judgment of Dr. Moore.Now I have never been to this location nor do I know any of the staff.  However, the pain in their hearts while listening to them speak of this tragic situation led me to write a review.Please be careful and always ask questions. We paid for his services à la cart and found them very reasonable, we had recently moved from California where everything is overpriced. Been bringing my babies here since living in Tampa and love them.  Vets are very caring and it shows in the way they treat their clients.  Even though Lola is always scared, they always treat her good and put her at ease.  They were very compassionate when I had to make the decision of letting one of my babies go.  I will always remember how caring they were.  I will continue to bring Lola and future pets to them.  They are a walk-in clinic and hours are clearly stated.  Appointments are only for surgeries.  It's very convenient that they are open on Saturdays from 7:30 - 12.  I also feel that pricing is very reasonable and estimates are given before treatment.  Thanks DMAH for taking great care of my babies! I brought my pack in today for pedicures (nail trims). I had a bad experience with a nail clipping and now am much more comfy having the trained vet techs do my 3 babies. I've been bringing my beloved babies to Dale Mabry Animal Hospital for over eight years now. Throughout those 8 years I've tried different vets in the Tampa Bay Area (due to relocating and proximity convenience) and none have compared. EVERY DOCTOR here is excellent. In my experience and opinion, its a rarity to find a veterinarian that cares more about the animals than the financial benefits to their profession... but every single one of their Docs possesses that characteristic and it shows. The staff is courteous and very simply loves your babies as much (or close) as you do. I now live near St Pete Beach and I still make the drive to bring my two boxers here. Dale Mabry Animal Hospital is the best place for my pet dog. All the staff members are awesome and friendly. The vet techs are so efficient & helpful with answers to questions that arise . The doctors are wonderful. Dr Leavengood has seen my previous pet dog & now he sees my new puppy & she likes him a lot and that is important. Halia has also seen Dr, Moore who she loves. When Dr Moore did her female surgery, he assured me & took away my anxiety. She of course pulled through &y you can barely see any scars, that's wonderful for girls don't like scars! I have been taking my cat here for over 10 years and the staff are incredible. Shannon is always very polite and professional and I would not trade Doc Leavengood for the world! :) My cat is even likes him and that is saying a lot! Best Ever!! :) I need to add a sad addendum here. I took ""Bootsie"" aka ""The Poosis"" back to Dale Mabry Hospital and Dr Leavengood but alas she had to be put down for liver/cancer related issues. It sprouted up so quickly that there was nothing we could have done. We only noticed her losing weight the last couple months. We were devastated naturally but the end of life professionalism and treatment we received from Dr Leavengood and EVERYONE on their staff that I encountered were tender, caring, and remarkable. I am grieving wayyyy to heavily to say much more than this. We have been taking our dogs to Dr Lynch for about 2 years. We used to take them to Land O Lakes Animal Hospital but found them to be extremely expensive for the smallest of issues. Our oldest dog - Lex - passed away about a month ago. He was a 16 year old miniature poodle who in his later time with us developed diabetes (2004), had a sprained back issue, lsot his vision, had vestibular disease and was in generally poor health. We took him to Dr. Lynch and she has been caring for him the last couple of years. Never have we seen such kind, sincere and genuine affection and concern and just overall caring. She loved him as if he were her own. We'll never forget how she effortlessly took care of everything he went through as if it were her own animal. I know we want this to be the case all the time but to have it occur without bidding was just incredible. It takes us between 45 minutes to an hour to get to the clinic and our other dog Cody is terrified of driving but we wouldn't think of going anywhere else. When Lex died, we sent her a card thanking her for everything and she sent us a very nice card back. We are now about to adopt a new puppy and we'll be taking him to meet her as soon as we get him. We have had nothing but great things with Dr. Lynch and her staff and I always recommend them when anyone asks for a reputable vet. Read Less

I dropped my healthy 3-year old cat off at this veterinary clinic, where he had been a patient since he was a kitten. He had a bladder issue, and being the Friday before Memorial Day, I was told he would have to remain at the hospital over the weekend. Dr. Moore was very good about providing updates throughout the weekend, and everything was great...my cat was on the mend and doing fine by the evening I dropped him off. Once Dr. Leavengood took over on Monday afternoon, my cat was dead within hours. The hospital has not been forthcoming about what took place, and all Dr. Leavengood seemed concerned about when he called to tell me the cat was dead was whether or not I wanted to pay for an autopsy. I would avoid this place like the plague! It is pretty clear my cat was not taken care of, and the attitude of Dr. Leavengood is beyond uncaring. Read Less

I took my puppy pug here and ALL of the staff were so friendly and nice, my puppy had been sick for a week, and I had already been to two different vets and given two different prescriptions, the doctor came in and did a full evalutation, he was very thorough and explained everything to me. They were very reasonable with pricing, and I had no appointment and didn't have to wait more than 15 minutes. The whole experience was quick, convenient and helpful. I was lucky enough to meet Dr. Hall and his staff through volunteer work with a local cat rescue. I understand Dr. Hall has a soft spot for cats and he is wonderful! When I took my older dog in for some eye issues, I love how he caters to her; he gets right down on the floor with her and he goes out of his way to engage her in a way she understands. Because of this I think my big dog really likes him too. We were doing some fostering for the cat rescue and one of the kittens started having seizures. Dr. Hall was completely thorough, not jumping to any conclusions, but testing for the ""most likely"". It would have been easy enough to give me a bottle of pills and tell me to come back after a week, but Dr. Hall did what was right for Logan. He wanted to observe himcarefully in his office until he could get the seizures under control and titrate the initially high dose of meds to get the lowest, most effective dose. The cause was still not apparent after testing and Dr. Hall did diligent research on different case studies of similar situations. You know, one thing I also want to mention, with the internet, I cant help but using it for my own research. Dr. Hall always listens intently, never interrupts or makes you feel ""stupid"" or silly for trying to be a .c o m Dr. Long, long, long story short, several months and several dose levels later, Logan is doing well and still loves going to see Dr. Hall. The staff know him by name and are so sweet to him (and us) when we visit. They all seem to truly care about the work they do and the animals they treat. I highly recommend Dale Mabry Animal Hospital and have nothing but good things to say about them and their help for not only my animals, but those of the cat rescue. Read Less

We have been taking our pets there for 12+ years. The doctors and staff have been nothing but professional and courteous. A year and a half ago we had to put Chelsea down and Dr. Levengood had very good pet side manners. A week ago we had to put down Chancellor and Dr. Moore was his doctor. Never would I have expected the compassion Dr. Moore showed us. His compassion was so very heart felt, he really saw and felt our pain. Like the other reviewer, I also endorse Dr. Lynch. I had a 17 year old cat that was diagnosed with a tumor. Dr. Lynch did not push for life-saving measures, but counseled me on helping her through her last days. She is also very good with my other ""kids."" Dr. Hall is also very nice and is great for exotic patients. He healed our hamster's urinary tract infection! Both like that my daughters want to be vets when they grow up and take the time to explain things to them or show them things while we visit. I do agree about the reception staff, though. It is a shame that the doctors work so hard but the others are the real ""face"" of the office. I too, was treated rudely because my dog had heartworms. The thing they didn't know was that I had adopted her that way and CHOSE to give her a chance at a loving home despite the PRE-EXISTING condition. She gets her monthly treatment but the organism has an 18-month lifespan. Hope I don't get another tongue-lashing in that time!! She also has a bad leg that I did not cause, but I do get raised eyebrows. The office staff needs to realize that the people who are bringing their pets to the vet are NOT the neglecters!!! I found the doctors here to be very compassionate and caring. I had never been there before and I took my cat in because she was not eating nor acting like herself. Unfortunately, she had to be euthanized because she had renal failure (she was 13 years old). I was given as much time as I needed to say good-bye to her, and was told of several options available to deal with the situation. Two days later I received a beautiful card in the mail from them about the ""Rainbow Bridge"" for animals and owners to be reunited in the future. I thought this was exceptional since they had never seen me before. I dealt with Dr. Chad Hall at that time, and have since seen Dr. Leavengood with my other cat. Before meeting Dr. Lynch, I had a bad taste in my mouth for DMAH. I am not a fan of Dr. Leavengood who I believe is the owner. However, many people come in and request him specifically, so it is just a personal preference. DMAH is a no-appointment, first-come, first-served facility with the exception of surgeries. If you want to be the first seen, you have to arrive at 7:30am, but doctors do not begin appts. until 8am. Waiting room is small, and office staff is hit-or-miss on their demeanor. I find they're generally very nice in person, but not so much on the phone. I will see Dr. Christine Lynch until I move out of Tampa. She is quiet and reserved, but she is also kind and very sweet with my 2 dogs and cat. She is not interested in overcharging for unnecessary procedures. I had left DMAH and began going to veterinary medical specialists. They gave me a $850 estimate for a simple procedure, which is when I gave DMAH another try. This was my first time seeing Dr. Lynch. She suggested only the absolute necessary parts of the previously quoted procedure, took my dog in for the procedure and all day monitoring, and only charged me for the $40 local anesthesia. Dr. Lynch, one of the veterinarians employed here is very warm and competent. One of our beagles had cancer removed last year. In the six or so times we have been there, she has always been professional. However, the office staff leaves much to be desired. They are consistently rude. If Dr. Lynch was not one of the vets here, I would not take our animals there any more. Everyone has a bad day now and then, but this staff acts as though they hate their jobs. Not one of them smiles very often. The only reason I started coming here was my sister's recommendation. Calling on the phone to schedule something is difficult at best if you are not sure what you want done for your pet. They are very impatient ( I work at a very busy medical practice myself and know that at times things get harried, but we ALWAYS smile ). None of them come out to greet your pet like other practices do. Again if Dr Lynch ever left, I would switch. Read Less

If you are looking for a good Vet group; please go to Dale Mabry Animal Hospital.The Vets there truly care about the animals. I have seen all of the doctors at one time or another and have to say my favorite is Dr Hall. He always has a simle on his face and this, transmitts to the animals, my baby Micah loves him, and I know he is in good hands when he sees DR. Hall. Dr. Hall is wonderful. I have two bulldogs that have had to have surgeries for varies things some being risky. Dr. Hall was sucessfull each time and thanks to him I have healthy boys! I highly recommend him with out a doubt Read Less

After a very bad experience at the Vet I have used for years I was very upset. Before the dog was checked at all I was given an estimate of the charges. Without really even looking at my little 11- year old pooch I was told the estimate would be $460.00 provided she didn't move during the x-ray. That would be an extra fee. I started to leave my dog but I was concerned because the Vet hadn't even really examined her. I had signed for treatment but then decided to leave. My niece was with me and she suggested her Vet. We immediately went to that office. Dr. Hall's office was breath of good care for a little old friend of mine. When they called us we saw Dr. Leathergood. I was very appreciative of his really excellent examination. Dr. Leathergood checked her heart, lungs, stomach, ears, legs, and generally got to familiarize himself with her and her condition. He then took her temperature and recommended some lab work to start. After about ten minutes or so he told me that lab work didn't show anything out of line. He gave her an IV a shot and some pills for me to dispense at home. That was last Thursday and she was back to her old self by Friday afternoon. What had started out as a very difficult situation ended up with a very happy satisfying end. From the office staff to Dr. Leathergood and his assistant I was very impressed with the whole visit.
