Based on our experiences, I'm having a very hard time wrapping my head around the positive reviews Pebble Creek has gotten.  Our recent experiences suggest serious negligence, lack of communication between staff across shifts and deviation from virtually all best practice protocols we have located (including Merck veterinary treatment guidelines).  I'm so appalled by our experiences I'm (for the first time) writing a Yelp review. The care we've since received elsewhere (Tampa Bay Emergency Vet Hospital, for example) has been so markedly different--I.e. staff/Vets actually caring enough to follow standard treatment guidelines, run essential diagnostic tests, provide adequate heat and nutrition and systematically assess for secondary complications.  Our dog was essentially discharged from PC with sepsis, completely undetected, as well as numerous (untreated!) parasites, until Tampa Bay Emergency Services actually ran standard tests and detected these serious untreated complications only a few hours post PC discharge (to reiterate: untested for and undetected after days of hospitalization at Pebble Creek at substantial cost and in spite of the fact that regular testing--not to mention nutrition--is a stock part of any treatment guidelines for his dx).   Our pet could easily die as a result and there is simply no excuse for this degree of negligence. If you care about your pet and the condition is serious or complex I cannot urge you strongly enough to either avoid Pebble Creek or, at a minimum, look up standard treatment guidelines (Merck Vet manual is freely accessible online) and do not trust that the PC vets will follow standard guidance unless you in essence force them to. If your pet has deteriorated under their care, transfer as quickly as you can, get a second opinion, take them to a facility that actually follows protocol and Vets that understand how to treat complex/serious conditions. I just dealt with an emotional situation and what happened needs to be posted. I normally refrain from posting my opinions about other businesses, but I feel strongly about this. I drove by a turtle that had been hit badly by a car. Her shell was shattered in multiple places and she looked deceased upon passing. But I needed to check. I tapped on her head and she looked up at me. Her eggs were shattered all around her. I quickly grabbed my poncho and it took me a few attempts to get her up and as together as I could. I took her to the closest vet clinic, which was North Tampa Pet Depot on Tampa Palms Boulevard. I parked in front of the clinic with my hazards on and ran in to ask for help. They proceeded to tell me they didn't do wildlife. I explained that she's shattered in pieces and needs to be humanely euthanized as soon as possible. The receptionist then proceeds to go back and talk to a vet that seemed to be sitting down on break. Not a patient in sight. She came back and said they'd have to place an IV catheter in and they didn't have the capability. This is a lie. You don't need to put an IV catheter in to euthanize a turtle. I've seen it done more than I care to say working at an emergency vet. But the most important thing is that they also know this. They just thought they were talking to someone who wouldn't know better. The vet didn't even have the decency to come out and see the turtle before turning me away. Just sat in the back. As I turned to walk away, the receptionist said "sorry". That was too much for me, because honestly, it's another lie. I told her, "you could have helped. You chose not to". I then sped another fifteen minutes to Pebble Creek Animal Hospital. Though they also don't see wildlife, they took her back immediately and proceeded to euthanize her through her soft tissue to hopefully speed up her passing. The receptionist had tears in her eyes as I did. They cared enough to do what was right for this animal who was clearly suffering. They made a common sense decision and put the turtle first. Please think about that when you choose a hospital to care for your companions. I know that vet offices are businesses, but there's something very wrong with turning down a dying animal that only a veterinarian can help. Thank you Pebble Creek Animal Hospital for being decent human beings. Read Less

To update to their response:When I made an appointment they told me there was no doctor available at all and I had to make an appointment with a tech, so I did. Second of all, I came there asking for an anal gland expression because I was told to do so if they have diarrhea and apparently nobody there could do that. Trust me, I have another vet I go to, where it went smoothly and she didn't need an anal gland expression because they actually tried to look. She's never cooperated at that vet whenever she is brought to the back, so I should have taken that hint the first few times. The probiotic you wanted to give me is made by a brand who's dog and cat food is actual trash and POISONS animals on the daily. Why would I want a brand that's supposed to help my dog? Knowing them they'll make it worse. Reviews on it aren't so great either. You also only have 1 brand of probiotic? I ended up going back to the place I did before for the previous probiotic with many options and my dog is in perfect health after this whole ordeal. Nobody tries at your place. It's like they expect every dog to come through the door to be well behaved and perfect, and they expect every owner do adhere to what they say. I honestly don't know why I came back to you. When I first came here a year ago, it was fine and I got done what I needed. I went the other day pretty much as a last resort because they were open late. My dog needs shots and has had a really bad upset stomach for a few days. I called and said I wanted to bring her in because I'm concerned about her tummy. When I got there, right off the bat before even talking or greeting me, they whip out a $400 bill listed of things. Okay, I figured since I said I want to do shots and everything. First of all, they had heartworm meds and a bunch of other things listed I didn't ask for. I had to tell them I didn't need any and she had to reprint another list. Wasting time as my dogs sick and whining. Whatever. Then the time comes to actually talk about my dog, and they take her back to try to do shots and maybe her anal glands because of her upset tummy. They come back in 5 minutes later saying they can't do anything to her because she's too squirmy. Funny because she's gotten her shots and blood taken before so I'm sure when they brought her to the hidden back, they didn't treat her nice and when they brought her into the room she was running away from them. They pretty much said they're not doing anything with her anymore unless she gets an injection to sedate her. Mind you I took her somewhere else before and she got all her shots done. I explained I was still concerned about her upset stomach and they literally said nothing. They didn't want to do anything. My dog has been pooping all over the house for days because she is sick and they said they can't do anything. Waste of my time. Ended up paying for one vaccine they did up the nose. I won't be coming back. That ordeal took 2 HOURS and 50% of it was waiting around or talking. What a great way to greet me with a paper bill full of crap. Then to not take into consideration I was there for her diarrhea mainly and not do anything to help? The tech I had was super nice trying to calm me down since I was gettin agitated. But I ended up getting nothing done and my dog is still sick. Now I have to wait out the weekend and find somewhere else that will actually help her. Read Less

I had to get my pet in immediately for vaccinations and they were able to accommodate and take my cat in for her first visit. All the receptionists and technicians and vets were wonderful with her despite her hissing at all of them. I've had to take her in multiple times within 1.5 months and they've been helpful emotionally with making financial decisions and explaining everything thoroughly. My only issue is that I feel as if they're not at the best price point and sometimes I feel like they do try to increase costs when it's unnecessary. I'm not sure if that's just me though. Overall, I really enjoy my experience with them and making sure both me and my cat are comfortable. Read Less

I would never take a pet to this hospital again.  My husband and I took our severely anemic rescue dog to this facility which turned out to be a waste of $300.  We waited for over 2 hours and most of the staff was rude.  I was also promised that they would fax over the visit forms back to the county and they did not.  We saw two Vets, one was nice but she was going off-shift so we had to wait for the next one.  The next Vet came out and mostly rambled for 5 minutes and basically told us nothing.  They sent us home with de-wormer and wanted to see the dog in one week.  We ended up taking our puppy to another Vet the next day who had a nice staff who treated us nicely and actually gave us medicine that actually helped.  No de-wormer was needed and $200 less than what we spent the first time.  Thumbs down for PB Animal Hospital!! The pet resort is clean (even smells good) and has a lot of natural light. They also do not have any size or breed restrictions for day care boarding (which is a huge plus for me). Most recently, I boarded my dog for several days and the staff were willing to work around my dog's temperament issues and give him play time alone (he's dog aggressive). They even planned ahead and gave him a corner kennel near the door to avoid him walking in front of other dogs to go outside for playtime. I also received daily pictures of my dog during his playtime. This place is great, I plan to continue using them in the future. Read Less

We spent YEARS looking for a Veterinarian in New Tampa that we trusted. We ended up here with an emergency, because it was the only pet Hospital open on Sunday. Dr. Dutton, along with the rest of the staff, was amazing. They made a very difficult experience for our family way less stressful. That was 2 years ago, we are still in awe of the quality of care that Dr. Dutton provides and the friendliness & professionalism of the entire staff. Read Less

Everyone is very kind and courteous! Office is clean and the doctors are well educated and compassionate! Moving from Va to Florida was stressful. I was concerned about finding a new vet for my baby Shirley. Her first visit was with Dr Clark who was very informative about a new medicine for arthritis. It was an injectable kind. I was very scared at first. Talking it over with my husband we agreed and schedualed another appointment with fellow co worker Dr Dutton. He was also very kind and took a lot of time to educate us and go over exrays with us about Shirley's treatment. Shirley has improved a lot with walking and even running, thanks to them. I am enjoying Florida and now my baby can enjoy it too and all the fun things to do outside all year round:) thank you soo much Pebble Creek! Read Less

Excellent service, no wait time and Dr. Borderieux took great care of my Yellow Amazon. Prices are reasonable and affordable. My theory on pet care is if you can't afford to allot money for the veterinary care don't have pets. Also an AAHA accredited clinic is going to charge more than your Planned Pethood. So to rate this clinic poorly because of cost is a reflection on the owner not the business. I know unexpected things happen to pets however they offer Carecredit and pet insurance also you should plan for a rainy day. **REVIEWING BASED ON SUNDAY EMERGENCY EXPERIENCE**This review is based on my experience with Pebble Creek Animal Hospital on Sunday the 28th of December 2014. Apologies in advance as it will be a bit of a lengthy review as I would like to help others in the area avoid spending extra funds unnecessarily. A little backstory on what brought us in:  While away on a business matter my 6 year old, 3.5lb Yorkshire Terrier began displaying signs of being ill on Christmas evening. Roughly 2 hrs after eating dinner she regurgitated undigested food. The sitter, who has kept her many times before, called to let me know and we decided to watch her closely and decide what to do the next morning as her demeanor seemed okay. This pattern continued with a bit of variation through Saturday. Her energy levels, interest in food & water stayed strong and so the sitter thought she would sure "work through" whatever was causing the issue. By Saturday afternoon I landed back in Tampa and immediately went to pick her up. Upon my arrival she seemed to look vibrant and for the most part like her usual self. This was roughly 3pm..by 6 pm things began to change. I first noticed her energy level completely tanked. Her ears were back and she had no interest whatsoever in food or water. Very unusual for her character. By now my local Vet {Dr. Reddy, Seven Oaks} was already closed for the day...until Monday ): I stayed up with her most of the night as she was unable to get comfortable, she was trembling, and clearly not feeling well.Sunday morning I phoned my Vet and left a message to alert him of what was going and and then I began doing my research on Vets in the area that were open on Sunday. I knew of all of the Emergency Hospitals in the area but due to online reviews {warning of high pricing} I was a bit weary to take her there for what seemed to be an upset stomach...after a bit of research and Allie not being able to hold even water down by mid afternoon I knew I had to get her to a Doctor right away. I read Pebble Creek reviews and decided to give them a chance. I phoned into Pebble Creek at roughly 10 am and was told that there were no appointments remaining for that Sunday...however their only option was to have me come in in-between appointments to be seen. She also told me that there could be a wait of up to an hour, and since she was being seen as an "emergency" the rate to be seen would go from $40 to roughly $80. I was told the best hour to come would be 3:30 and so we booked an appointment for that slot. After an evaluation by a technician Dr.Clay Dutton joined us to make his assessment and to ask us about what was going on. After describing in detail, all that I have above, Dr.Dutton's expert opinion was that he believed Allie was displaying symptoms of possibly ingesting a "foreign object". He then asked if I " were missing any items around the home, like a SOCK"...I said "No"...and that knowing her character and the way I keep my home...that would be quite surprising to me. Dr. Dutton then suggested that we do a scan of her belly to see what they could find and send that out to radiologist for his review. He then began explaining that he would also have to "sedate her to get clear images". I immediately questioned this as I was bringing her there, in part, for "extreme lethargy". I told him that I didn't believe she would move with the condition she was in, nor did I want her being pumped full of medications when I was sure that she was DEHYDRATED. After a bit of a discussion Dr. Dutton agreed to try to get the images without sedation, but warned that if the images were not clear he would have to sedate. I told him that was understandable. Technicians were able to get clear images for the radiologist WITHOUT sedation as Allie was completely lethargicBy 5:30pm the radiologist sent his report which indicated that there was indeed an obstruction of some kind, specifically they hypothesized was an Intussusception. With this diagnosis the only relief available would be surgical intervention. Dr. Dutton was quick to tell me that he did not have the capability to do the procedure and would recommend that we go to Tampa Bay Emergency...We left PC and arrived home at roughly 6pm..as we were deciding which hospital to take her to for surgery I realized Dr. Dutton never gave her the subcutaneous hydration we spoke of. I phoned the office to tell him I was on the way back {5 mins drive} to which he said he was finishing paperwork and leaving and that there was nothing he could do. This after spending $500 and 3 hrs..simply sends a sick dog on her way with no hydration. Moral of the story is GO TO THE EXPERTS! Don't waste your time in an emergency go directly to Blue Pearl or another emergency facility. I chose Blue Pearl and within 10 mins of being there Allie was hooked to an IV, and was receiving pain meds. Specialist surgeon was out of bed and there performing the within 2 hrs of hearing our options. Read Less

Giving them 1 star is too much. Don't advertise dog boarding when there's no staff member available watching over the dogs overnight. Left my dog for daily care and they notified us 10 minutes before closing that my dog will need to be boarded because they closed at 6pm. Staff wasn't helpful and didn't want to release the dog after hours, then when asked to speak with a supervisor no one called back. My dog ended up staying at a "boarding facility" for over 13 hours without going out and couldn't drop off food, no staff member is available to watch them overnight per their own personnel. Don't bring your dog to this place, I won't even bring my dogs for check ups at this location anymore. I'll be reporting them to the better business bureau. Read Less

Perhaps a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. This Veterinary has raised three of our pets almost exclusively. They've walked them through liver problems, rapid weight gain, fleas, and general crankiness. They've always been willing to do as much (or as little) as we are comfortable with. The offer complimentary waters and snacks for those days when you are stuck in there longer than you plan (you know, when your cat swallows a bunch of thread and wraps it around his stomach and needs some sort of emergency surgery). I'd recommend, if you are willing to pay just a little extra. Read Less

Dr. Adams was filling in for our regular DVM. I had never been to this office before. I had an emergency on a Sunday and this was one of the only veterinary clinics open in my area, thus why I brought my pet here. For being a walk-in, everyone was extremely kind, courteous, and quick. I expected to be in the office for hours before being seen, but I was seen within 30 minutes of entering the exam room. Dr. Adams was extremely thorough and very knowledgeable. From being a nurse, I'm pretty well versed in medical issues and I could tell that nothing that was done or ordered was unnecessary. I have seen several DVMs since my move to Tampa in 2003 and this is the only clinic that I was satisfied with, all around. My dog is very nervous around people she doesn't know, but she was very comfortable being handled by the staff at this clinic. I will continue to bring my pet here and would absolutely recommend this clinic to a friend or stranger. Even when I accidentally walked into the grooming and boarding office instead of the clinic the staff was so kind to check me in right away then direct me over to the clinic to be seen immediately. I would bring my pet here for boarding and grooming any day. It was nice to walk in unexpected and see the staff playing with the boarded animals. That is such a relief. It seems like they want to do check ups way more frequently than any other vet I've had and they often are suggesting intensive blood work, etc. for my pets. I can certainly refuse but I often feel a bit pressured - could just be me.2) They seem a bit pricey in comparison to other places I've been.

Read Less

Dr Dutton always made us feel like he was part of our family with the way he cared about us and Bruno. Recently Bruno started to develop kidney failure amongst some other complications, which had the team a little baffled. Dr. Dutton and the team worked tiresly to figure out what was wrong and didn't stop until it was Bruno's time. Read Less

OK.  So I read the reviews of this hospital and realized it was likely going to be more expensive than others in the Tampa Bay area.  However, I was referred by a friend and referrals are more important to me than cost when it comes to my pet family.  What I did not expect was the unprofessionalism of Dr. Clarke.  He was rude to my child, rough with my dog, and only cared about pushing unnecessary testing.  Bedside manner is a term he apparently is unfamiliar with.  Not sure what he learned in "vet school," but I would not call him a "doctor" based on his attitude.  My family has had better treatment at the local rescue.

Read Less

The staff are great, most of them, they will take good care of your pet and send you reminders way ahead of time before, they're due for anything. However, their prices are really expensive compared to other vets in the area, and they mandate more shots than what is required by the state ( like the flu shot for example for pets who never go outside a house). Thank your Dr. Adams and the staff of Pebble creek Animal Hospital. Read Less

I love this place. My ONLY con is that it is expensive. However, here are my pluses:- Seriously the BEST "front desk" people I have EVER worked with. I am not sure where they get them but they are ALWAYS nice. - They are one of the few fully accredited vets in Tampa- Free drinks, treats, and snacks- FREE mobile pick up if you can't get your pet to the appointment- My dog is very good at telling who is not a nice person...he has a crazy sixth sense with it and he has never once jumped at any of the vets there (that's his defense mechanism). - The vets are intelligent and treat you like you are intelligent, too.- They don't discriminate against the LGBT community at all. My partner and I feel really welcome there. Read Less

I have three pets, a small min pin/whippet mix, a terrier mix, and a cat. My terrier has thyroid issues and my cat is diabetic so we're at the vet often. Here are the pluses to Pebble Creek:1) The vets and vet techs are knowledgable, friendly and really easy to work with2) The facility offers free drinks (sodas/water) and snaks - yay!3) They offer FREE mobile pick up and drop off for your pets if you aren't able to bring/pick up yourself. This alone is pretty awesome.4) Their facilities are clean and appealing - both functional and attractive5) They accept Care Credit6) They always seem very kind with my petsHere are the cons:1) I always feel a bit like they 'over' suggest tests and services. It seems like they want to do check ups way more frequently than any other vet I've had and they often are suggesting intensive blood work, etc. for my pets. I can certainly refuse but I often feel a bit pressured - could just be me.2) They seem a bit pricey in comparison to other places I've been. In general, I've had a good experience here and it's a great option to consider if you are looking for a new vet. Read Less
