I just LOVE this practice! They've taken absolutely terrific care of my senior beagle, Baxter! When I brought in my newly adopted, SUPER skittish rescue beagle, Ozzie, I knew his first experience would be a good one - and it was! Dr. Bishai is such a gentle and compassionate person as well as an excellent diagnostician. She takes her time with her patients and always answers all my questions patiently and honestly. Why 5 stars? Because I think we've found our new vet!   ---   ---   ---For years, we've taken our pets to a vet in South Tampa, but the drive down Dale Mabry through 20+ lights just got to be too much. We loved that vet, but it was time for a change. I noticed that Plantation Animal Hospital had a really high rating on Yelp and is only about a mile from my house, so it definitely looked like a great match!Our dog has developed hot spots on his legs/feet for two consecutive years in the winter. He'd been picking at them relentlessly, causing them to worsen. Dr. Mondschein was extremely thorough in explaining numerous reasons that these could have developed and ways to improve his situation. I was very grateful for all of the info and the time he spent explaining everything.Everyone else we dealt with here was super friendly, and again, I love the super close proximity to my house. We have moved around a lot during the life of our sweet boy, and of all the vets we've visited in the country, Dr Mondschein is the best vet we've ever had. Our dog Taker trusts him, which is the most important thing. He is patient with not only my boy, but also with us. He's knowledgeable and kind, and I feel very confident in his ability to treat my sweet angel. That's not all, though! The vet techs are also amazing! We've had Lin, Savin and Travis help us, and all three of them were sweet and kind to Taker, and did a great job of reassuring and comforting us. Our dog has recently been diagnosed with diabetes, so we've had to learn quite a bit about giving the medication and modifying diets. The techs have been awesome and incredibly patient with answering our (many!) questions. Every time I call to make an appointment, or check out after an exam, the front office ladies offer superior customer service, as well. All three of them are incredibly competent and friendly. I won't take my babies anywhere else. I would have taken my Gracie but she got sick with cancer before I had a chance to switch her over to here. Dr. Bishai was actually her vet when she worked at Banfield Citrus Park. She loves kitties and I trust her with our Stevie. They are a staff of warm hearted people who truly care about you and your pet family. I recently had to put down our dear Cain and the love and support we received from Plantation made this heart breaking journey a little easier. They were with us through every step. Went in with a very sick cat. There was no pressure either way; treatment or euthanasia. Dr. Bishai explained everything in a kind, objective manner. Three days of kitty ICU and regular phone updates later, I brought my cat home. With the intensive care, medication and testing, I expected a much higher bill. The entire staff was helpful and informative, and they took the time to teach me how to manage her ongoing care. I cannot recommend this vet service highly enough.Read Less

We moved from Tampa to the Orlando area in Aug 2015. I was devastated to have to find a new veterinarian and have been only "somewhat" satisfied at best. I have yet to find any veterinarian/clinic locally that I have the same confidence in as Dr. Rhonda Johnson and Plantation Animal Hospital. While we can't go there for every little thing that crops up, we still take 2 or 3 cats at a time (out of 7) to Tampa for their annual exams and bloodwork/urinalyses. I trust Dr. Johnson as the "captain of the ship" so to speak. She sets their course for nutrition and/or medications as applicable. We travel 80 miles and 90 minutes each way. The cats travel well in a group of 2 or 3 and the trip seems to give them time to settle a bit by the time we get there. The distance and time are worth it to us for the standard of care we have become accustomed to. We love Dr. Johnson (she is the best!) and the entire Plantation staff of excellent veterinary technicians (thank you Lin!!) and Administrative staff (Rhonda, Veronique, Melissa, Valorie, y'all rock!!). MANY names I am leaving out but EVERYONE there is professional, thorough and very kind.Read Less

I have had everything with my pets from routine visits to very serious illness cases in my time with Dr. Rhonda Johnson and Plantation Animal Hospital. It can be very difficult sometimes to discern exactly what is "right" especially when an animal can't tell you what he/she is feeling. Dr. Johnson has gone above and beyond in searching and double-checking to find the answers and advise us to help us proceed in the best interests of our beloved pets. Our cat Skippy has cancer and Dr. Johnson diagnosed and oversaw all the preliminary bloodwork, ultrasound results, and ultimately (at my request due to her experience), performed the all-important biopsy surgery that finally gave the true picture of his condition. At that point, Dr. Johnson suggested we see a veterinary oncologist, which we did. Upon seeing Skippy and his records, the oncologist said that Dr. Johnson had done everything needed. Thanks to her thoroughness and expertise, we could proceed immediately with oral chemotherapy. Patients don't always present to him so "ready", he said. That was back in November 2015 and Skippy is still with us in April 2016 and enjoying good quality of life. Thanks very much due to the diligence and knowledge of Dr. Rhonda Johnson. Her staff of excellent veterinary technicians and support staff, Lin... Tipzy, she was one of my five rescue dogs, passed away while she was on a treatment with Dr. Johnson. She was taking Previcox, one of the side effect is a heart attack. She was a dog who never had heart problems. Her illness was arthritis because her age. She was prescribed this medication for her arthritis pain. The Dr., maybe too busy didn't order a blood test to make sure the medication was right for her. My husband and I made an appointment to talk to the Dr. At the meeting we explained to her what we had researched and find out this medication. The Dr. just told us how popular was the medicine and how good the laboratory is. She never accepted that there was a mistake o what ever name you can give it. At the end of our conversation, she turned around, smiled and rolled her eyes. Them, when we left the office an one of her employees called us in the parking lot, asking to pay for the visit. Our answer to her was thet we meet to discussed Tipsy's death. The employee went inside to ask Dr. Johnson and them told us that it was okay no to pay. In my opinion if we never took Tipsy to be checked by Dr. Johnson, Tipzy would be alive and happy like she always was. Why every body is forgiving that we are Human beings and accepting our mistakes just make us better. Read Less

Being relatively new to the area, I had not made a connection with a vet for my twenty year old cat. When I realized that she had a urinary tract infection, I got recommendations from my neighbors. The majority recommended Plantation Animal Hospital. From my first call, everyone was immediately concerned and accommodating and knocked themselves out to be helpful. Dr. Bishai is wonderful and not only explained what she wanted to do and why, but got the cost of the tests in advance, so that I would know before authorizing them. She recommended a new specialized cat food, that my cat is actually eating, and insisted that she be brought back after finishing the medication to be sure that she was cured. As it happens, she was still having problems, so Dr. Bishai has her on a different antibiotic. I am very impressed with the entire operation and couldn't recommended them too highly.Read Less

Their prices are much more realistic especially when you are taking care of multiple animals who are aging. I am VERY picky about where I take my pets. Dr. Rhonda Johnson and her entire staff are caring and helpful. Dr. Johnson is extremely knowledgeable and a very skilled veterinarian. I like that she often goes the extra mile to consult with specialists on difficult cases. A couple of my cats are older and have needed extra care, including surgery.One is now facing the possibility of cancer. We have actually moved to Clermont, but for this exploratory surgery, and to get our cat Skippy on the right path, we feel it is worth the 90 minute drive to have Dr. Johnson stewarding his treatment plan.Excellent veterinary techs, as well as very helpful assistants at the front.I like the emphasis on doing annual preventive bloodwork on pets, by offering a savings if done as part of the annual wellness exam. This can help pet parents see problems before they become insurmountable. This is a very well run practice. Read Less

Dr. Johnson and Dr. Bishai are both excellent caregivers and vets. They treat your animals as their own and do their very best to make you feel at home. They may not always have the answer to your problems but they give you the options and costs UP FRONT and let you choose how you want to proceed. I greatly appreciate that and don't feel like I'm surprised at the end of the visit with a bunch of extra charges I didn't know would be there. We've had 3-4 cats for the last 20 years and been to probably 5 other vets. The facility is always clean and the staff is so nice. Dr. Johnson spends alot of time putting our dogs and us at ease. The best vet we found while in Florida.  Prices are reasonable, but best yet, he didn't try an upsell.  Our dog has skin allergies and our vets before always sold us stuff-- he did not.  He told us it was just allergies and they will go away on their own and sure enough they did. Read Less
