During our most difficult hour of losing our beloved George, the team at this vet clinic was extremely supportive and compassionate. They assisted us through the entire heart wrenching process of saying good bye to our beautiful boy. Thank you to the entire staff for making George's last breath so peaceful.

This animal hospital is close to my house, so I decided to give it a try. Honestly the sign for free heartworm check in April got me. My dog has been on an off schedule for vaccines, which requires us to go in twice a year instead of the normal once a year check up. Anyhow, any way to make that visit cost go down was a plus in my mind, so we gave this place a try. The other vet we tried when we moved here is a lot further away. The receptionist was accommodating when taking my appointment. They seemed to have a lot of availability which was nice. We arrived and were greeted. I had my toddler with me too, so it's always on the brink of chaos with a dog that doesn't like other dogs in tow too. The staff gave me the paperwork to fill out and we waited for our appointment. Our veterinary technician was Alicia and she went over all of the vaccines we needed as well as gave an estimate to approve. To my surprise they were able to get my dog back on schedule by giving her two vaccines a little early, hooray! They also waived the physical exam instead of the heartworm test, since it would be cheaper and I was getting more than just a heartworm test (double yay). They took my dog back to get her blood drawn and fecal sample. Then the vet (Dr. Simpson) popped in for maybe 5 mins to look her over and give her the vaccines. She was very nice and talked to my toddler about the dog getting a poke to not alarm him. I was very happy with how quickly the visit went because I had my toddler with me. The receptionist also checked me out quickly and the technician gave me a quote on boarding. Not only were their rates great, but I was happy to hear they are open on Sunday's for limited hours to accommodate pick up. That's always hard to find in a boarding facility and helps alleviate the Monday rush to work and decrease the boarding cost.

My youngest dog is a disaster. Always getting into something or getting hurt. He also happens to be terrified of the vet. Dr. Bodnar is really great, she and the vet techs do so well with him and by the time we leave he's giving kisses and demanding belly rubs from everyone. I highly suggest them and won't be going elsewhere.

Wouldn't dream of taking our pets anywhere else! Dr Twila has been our vet for years and his knowledge, kindness and compassion are beyond compare. He's always been considerate and friendly and treats my pets as I feel he would his own. I was surprised to read a recent negative review that complained about the "pricey remodel" the office looks stunningly beautiful and I never experienced any price increase as the reviewer insinuated it was to cover the expense. His prices have always been fair and when we've been faced with something costly he has often given us options like we can attempt this at a lower cost but this is a better option and more pricey and fully explains options and benefits. I highly recommend Sunshine Animal Hospital and while I prefer Dr Mark have full confidence and comfort with the other members he has chosen to add to his staff. A huge plus is the return of Karen, one of the original receptionists when we started coming here.

The only place I trust and feel that my dog is well taken well care of. My dog had surgery here about 2 years ago and they took very good care of her. The veterinary is super nice and approachable, as well as the front desk staff. They will not lie to you about pet care and prices are reasonable + place is nice and clean. I recommend to anyone who wants their baby well taken care of.

It's 2019, people. Those are old reviews, below. Dr Barrie, the most important reason we brought our dogs to this practice, is LONG GONE. He was the wise experienced true practitioner of the veterinary arts, but he's silently retired and he sold his practice to money-focused millennials, including Dr Twilla. First up-- pricey redecoration, then raising prices on absolutely everything from office visits, "administration fees" for shots, up charges for shampoos and medications (ouch!!) anal gland expression (up to $39...while PETCO charges $10) and ca-ching CA-Ching CA-CHING!! Be prepared for major--and we mean major--sticker shock. Front desk staff are new and brash, and loud. They make our dogs nervous, especially the woman. The office manager is very nice and helpful. But also too interested in selling you into wellness plans and insurance. We're in the wrong plan for our older dogs. Too late. Long waits even when you have an appointment. Doggy area outside needs cleaning up. Desk tries to force you into appointments with certain vets even if you are having a follow up visit and want to see the same vet you saw before. It's just really WAY WAY WAY too expensive, and if we're already paying for an appointment, really, you charge us again for administering a vaccine and again for the vaccine? We understand paying above the office visit for the vaccine, but an admin charge on top of the office visit charge? That's just insane. Sorry but we're already vet shopping.

Thank you for going above and beyond and surpassing any expectations I had after the fact. I will absolutely recommend this location to anybody I'll also be returning with my other dog for any of his needs going forward.

I was trying to express some concerns that I had because I took care of the cat for 2 and 1/2 Weeks the ladies were nice but they seemed a fake niceness and it was just to do whatever they could do to shut me up and get me away I tried to call and check on the cat this morning the lady was really nice but it was more of a pacify me get me off the phone I think they should be more understanding if a person finds an animal and they cannot afford to keep this animal because they are a single parent but they want the best for this animal then they take it to be adopted out but they still check to make sure the animal is okay they should not be given any I can't even think of the right words all I know is the owner of the place is amazing that much I know....it broke my son's heart ....... into the response.. it wasn't that I wanted photos she said she was 99.9% she was going to adopt that's why I asked could send photos because Ethan was there I told them that I was a single mom and then I was poor and then they asked me repeatedly for a donation and I couldn't do it and if I could I would but as it is I'm feeding all the Stray Cats and I'm very grateful that you took the kitten... Several month's ago. I lost my dog when I had my parent's dog sit for me. I come out of work not knowing what happened. I search everywhere. Decided to check lost and found on Facebook. First thing I see is a picture of my dog. They had him safe and sound. When I arrived to pick him up. They gave me a few pointers that helped me a lot. Take pictures of your animals and if they are chipped. Make sure it is activated. I thought my dogs was activated and it was not. Did that immediately when I picked him up. Thank you guys and keep up the fantastic work.

First let me advise you all to never give your dogs bones!! I took Bailey to a animal clinic on Sheldon and Hillsborough Avenue because of a Slab Fracture... The estimated bill was going to be $1,500. So I decided to get a second opinion. I took Bailey to Sunshine Animal Hospital the following day. The facility is very nice, super clean and the staff is amazing. For the same procedure they estimated the bill to be around $535. The previous veterinarian wanted to charge for everything, and some things they recharged me over and over but just reworded it differently. Sunshine Animal Hospital did not do that. Dr. Simpson performed the surgery on Bailey. I was worried about putting Bailey under while she performed the surgery since he has a heart murmur. She made me feel very confident that everything would be okay. They called me twice and gave me updates on how Bailey was doing after his surgery. While sitting in the waiting room you can hear all the staff talking to all the pets as if they were their own. I would recommend Sunshine Animal Hospital to anyone! Thanks again Dr Simpson, me and Bailey will see you soon for a follow-up.

Sunshine Animal Hospital is a lovely animal hospital. It's right off waters, easy to find, and has a private parking lot in front of their office for you to park in. This hospital has a very nice space that is very comfortable, clean, and bright. This hospital's staff is incredibly kind, gracious, helpful , and attentive. They handle dogs and cats and also exotic animals as well. I bring my rabbit here for all of her needs, and they are incredibly good to her. They are always available to take questions, accomodating for appointments and their staff is so knowledgable, thorough and always ensures that you're always comfortable, educated and providing your pet with the best care possible. I love that I was able to find Sunshine Animal Hospital. I'd recommend any furry parent to come here. You can always be rest assured about the care of your pets when you bring them here.

I had my cat skid of 7 years euthanized here on March 29th 2017. His bladder exploded and he needed emergency surgery would cost $5,000 that I couldn't afford. The doctors there was very nice and kind and considerate and were grieving with me. The pictures of skid I took three minutes after he was put to sleep. I miss him dearly but he's no longer in pain and he's in a better place at Pinellas Park pet cemetery in the scatter Garden I had him cremated and his ashes scattered there

Awesome doctors and awesome staff. I have been going here for years and I've never had a bad experience with any of the staff. When my cat, Bowie, had to be put down, everyone was so caring. I was given time to say goodbye and was able to hold her as she got her shot. These folks really care about your pet and you.

At first the front desk staff wasn't that nice but I have to admit that my baby girl teacup Yorkie was in really good hands!! They did an amazing job pulling her baby teethes out and also spaying her....

By far the best vet. Dr. Mark went above and beyond to save our "therapy puppy" when she came down with a rare strain of kennel cough. He stayed late and even transported her himself to the emergency vet for the night because she needed 24 hour care. Even though she was almost out of options Dr. Mark did not give up and he saved her life. This is not the first time Dr. Mark has saved the life of one of my pets. I have only had the pleasure of working with Dr. Barry one time but he is brilliant as well. The staff is very patient and professional and truly care about our fur babies!! Vet care is always costly but Sunshine is very reasonable for the level of care received!! Keep up the good work!!

I was referred here by my Mom years ago, and they are the. best. I have been taking my kitties there for years now. They remind you when your pet is due for a visit, because they know time can get away from us. I have always had very good impressions of the vet techs there (other places, they can be ...cold). Well, except for the fact that I have one bad kitty. He's a bad kitty at home, and he's a VERY bad kitty at the vet. He decided that he despised his vet tech, and gave the tech a terrible, terrible time (so now the feeling is mutual, which is fair). But, even if that tech gets stuck with me and my rotten kitty, the professionalism and care is still present. The Veterinarians, are both stellar. They really care about you and your fur baby and are willing to give you advice and listen to your concerns. If only MY doctor was as good!! If you're on the fence, do it, go see these people, they are great.

We have been bringing our pets to Sunshine for several years now, after having been referred by a reputable kennel. I have lived in many places, from Florida to California, and Drs Twilla and Barry are the finest and most caring veterinarians I have ever worked with. The staff, starting with Randy, are much like the doctors who set the pace.
If you are looking for excellent doctors who charge 'very' reasonable fees, then I strongly suggest to entrust your pets to these folks.
If there was a 10 Star rating then that's what Sunshine would have received from us.

Initially found Dr. Twilla and Sunshine Animal Hospital because my cat of 19 years had decided that it was time to pass-on. Staff was compassionate and performed the euthanasia procedure as a courtesy and they helped facilitate the cremation and urn for my cat's remains. Since 2009, I've gone from having 1 cat to 3 cats and 2 dogs. While I don't take them to SAH for annual vaccinations, any medical problems (like when my dog got pregnant or my cat nearly died from an obstruction in her esophagus) have been expertly dealt with by Dr. Twilla and the staff. No surprises. Services are reasonable and an estimate is always provided prior to anything being done.

Starting with the finest Vets, Dr's Mark Twilla and Jim Barrie are the best! Caring, thorough and great about explaining your pet's diagnosis and treatment options. And their entire staff - are also excellent and very caring and obviously love what they do - we appreciate each of them so much!. We've had two generations of pups with quite of range of health issues and we're very thankful for the amazing care that they have provided our former pets and currently for our Border Collie, Scout and Border Collie Mix, Cookie, who absolutely love their caregivers at Sunshine - thank you all so much!

I have been taking my three dogs to Sunshine Animal Hospital for about 2 years. The prices are fair and I have been very happy with their service there. My dogs have seen both Dr. James Barrie and Dr. Mark Twilla, and they are both very caring and knowledgable veternarians. I highly recommend this clinic!

This animal hospital is close to my house, so I decided to give it a try. Honestly the sign for free heartworm check in April got me. My dog has been on an off schedule for vaccines, which requires us to go in twice a year instead of the normal once a year check up. Anyhow, any way to make that visit cost go down was a plus in my mind, so we gave this place a try. The other vet we tried when we moved here is a lot further away. The receptionist was accommodating when taking my appointment. They seemed to have a lot of availability which was nice. We arrived and were greeted. I had my toddler with me too, so it's always on the brink of chaos with a dog that doesn't like other dogs in tow too. The staff gave me the paperwork to fill out and we waited for our appointment. Our veterinary technician was Alicia and she went over all of the vaccines we needed as well as gave an estimate to approve. To my surprise they were able to get my dog back on schedule by giving her two vaccines a little early, hooray! They also waived the physical exam instead of the heartworm test, since it would be cheaper and I was getting more than just a heartworm test (double yay). They took my dog back to get her blood drawn and fecal sample. Then the vet (Dr. Simpson) popped in for maybe 5 mins to look her over and give her the vaccines. She was very nice and talked to my toddler about the dog getting a poke to not alarm him. I was very happy with how quickly the visit went because I had my toddler with me. The receptionist also checked me out quickly and the technician gave me a quote on boarding. Not only were their rates great, but I was happy to hear they are open on Sunday's for limited hours to accommodate pick up. That's always hard to find in a boarding facility and helps alleviate the Monday rush to work and decrease the boarding cost.

My youngest dog is a disaster. Always getting into something or getting hurt. He also happens to be terrified of the vet. Dr. Bodnar is really great, she and the vet techs do so well with him and by the time we leave he's giving kisses and demanding belly rubs from everyone. Wouldn't dream of taking our pets anywhere else! Dr Twila has been our vet for years and his knowledge, kindness and compassion are beyond compare. He's always been considerate and friendly and treats my pets as I feel he would his own. I was surprised to read a recent negative review that complained about the "pricey remodel" the office looks stunningly beautiful and I never experienced any price increase as the reviewer insinuated it was to cover the expense. His prices have always been fair and when we've been faced with something costly he has often given us options like we can attempt this at a lower cost but this is a better option and more pricey and fully explains options and benefits. I highly recommend Sunshine Animal Hospital and while I prefer Dr Mark have full confidence and comfort with the other members he has chosen to add to his staff. A huge plus is the return of Karen, one of the original receptionists when we started coming here.

The only place I trust and feel that my dog is well taken well care of. My dog had surgery here about 2 years ago and they took very good care of her. The veterinary is super nice and approachable, as well as the front desk staff. They will not lie to you about pet care and prices are reasonable + place is nice and clean. I recommend to anyone who wants their baby well taken care of.

It's 2019, people. Those are old reviews, below. Dr Barrie, the most important reason we brought our dogs to this practice, is LONG GONE. He was the wise experienced true practitioner of the veterinary arts, but he's silently retired and he sold his practice to money-focused millennials, including Dr Twilla. First up-- pricey redecoration, then raising prices on absolutely everything from office visits, "administration fees" for shots, up charges for shampoos and medications (ouch!!) anal gland expression (up to $39...while PETCO charges $10) and ca-ching CA-Ching CA-CHING!! Be prepared for major--and we mean major--sticker shock. Front desk staff are new and brash, and loud. They make our dogs nervous, especially the woman. The office manager is very nice and helpful. But also too interested in selling you into wellness plans and insurance. We're in the wrong plan for our older dogs. Too late. Long waits even when you have an appointment. Doggy area outside needs cleaning up. Desk tries to force you into appointments with certain vets even if you are having a follow up visit and want to see the same vet you saw before. It's just really WAY WAY WAY too expensive, and if we're already paying for an appointment, really, you charge us again for administering a vaccine and again for the vaccine? We understand paying above the office visit for the vaccine, but an admin charge on top of the office visit charge? That's just insane. Sorry but we're already vet shopping.

Thank you for going above and beyond and surpassing any expectations I had after the fact. I was trying to express some concerns that I had because I took care of the cat for 2 and 1/2 Weeks the ladies were nice but they seemed a fake niceness and it was just to do whatever they could do to shut me up and get me away I tried to call and check on the cat this morning the lady was really nice but it was more of a pacify me get me off the phone I think they should be more understanding if a person finds an animal and they cannot afford to keep this animal because they are a single parent but they want the best for this animal then they take it to be adopted out but they still check to make sure the animal is okay they should not be given any I can't even think of the right words all I know is the owner of the place is amazing that much I know....it broke my son's heart ....... into the response.. it wasn't that I wanted photos she said she was 99.9% she was going to adopt that's why I asked could send photos because Ethan was there I told them that I was a single mom and then I was poor and then they asked me repeatedly for a donation and I couldn't do it and if I could I would but as it is I'm feeding all the Stray Cats and I'm very grateful that you took the kitten... Several month's ago. I lost my dog when I had my parent's dog sit for me. I come out of work not knowing what happened. I search everywhere. Decided to check lost and found on Facebook. First thing I see is a picture of my dog. They had him safe and sound. When I arrived to pick him up. They gave me a few pointers that helped me a lot. Take pictures of your animals and if they are chipped. Make sure it is activated. I thought my dogs was activated and it was not. Did that immediately when I picked him up. Thank you guys and keep up the fantastic work.

First let me advise you all to never give your dogs bones!! I took Bailey to a animal clinic on Sheldon and Hillsborough Avenue because of a Slab Fracture... The estimated bill was going to be $1,500. So I decided to get a second opinion. I took Bailey to Sunshine Animal Hospital the following day. The facility is very nice, super clean and the staff is amazing. For the same procedure they estimated the bill to be around $535. The previous veterinarian wanted to charge for everything, and some things they recharged me over and over but just reworded it differently. Sunshine Animal Hospital did not do that. Dr. Simpson performed the surgery on Bailey. I was worried about putting Bailey under while she performed the surgery since he has a heart murmur. She made me feel very confident that everything would be okay. They called me twice and gave me updates on how Bailey was doing after his surgery. While sitting in the waiting room you can hear all the staff talking to all the pets as if they were their own. I would recommend Sunshine Animal Hospital to anyone! Thanks again Dr Simpson, me and Bailey will see you soon for a follow-up.

Sunshine Animal Hospital is a lovely animal hospital. It's right off waters, easy to find, and has a private parking lot in front of their office for you to park in. This hospital has a very nice space that is very comfortable, clean, and bright. This hospital's staff is incredibly kind, gracious, helpful , and attentive. They handle dogs and cats and also exotic animals as well. I bring my rabbit here for all of her needs, and they are incredibly good to her. They are always available to take questions, accomodating for appointments and their staff is so knowledgable, thorough and always ensures that you're always comfortable, educated and providing your pet with the best care possible. I love that I was able to find Sunshine Animal Hospital. I'd recommend any furry parent to come here. You can always be rest assured about the care of your pets when you bring them here.

I had my cat skid of 7 years euthanized here on March 29th 2017. His bladder exploded and he needed emergency surgery would cost $5,000 that I couldn't afford. The doctors there was very nice and kind and considerate and were grieving with me. The pictures of skid I took three minutes after he was put to sleep. I miss him dearly but he's no longer in pain and he's in a better place at Pinellas Park pet cemetery in the scatter Garden I had him cremated and his ashes scattered there

At first the front desk staff wasn't that nice but I have to admit that my baby girl teacup Yorkie was in really good hands!! They did an amazing job pulling her baby teethes out and also spaying her....

By far the best vet. Dr. Mark went above and beyond to save our "therapy puppy" when she came down with a rare strain of kennel cough. He stayed late and even transported her himself to the emergency vet for the night because she needed 24 hour care. Even though she was almost out of options Dr. Mark did not give up and he saved her life. This is not the first time Dr. Mark has saved the life of one of my pets. I have only had the pleasure of working with Dr. Barry one time but he is brilliant as well. The staff is very patient and professional and truly care about our fur babies!! Vet care is always costly but Sunshine is very reasonable for the level of care received!! Keep up the good work!!

I was referred here by my Mom years ago, and they are the. best. I have been taking my kitties there for years now. They remind you when your pet is due for a visit, because they know time can get away from us. I have always had very good impressions of the vet techs there (other places, they can be ...cold). Well, except for the fact that I have one bad kitty. He's a bad kitty at home, and he's a VERY bad kitty at the vet. He decided that he despised his vet tech, and gave the tech a terrible, terrible time (so now the feeling is mutual, which is fair). But, even if that tech gets stuck with me and my rotten kitty, the professionalism and care is still present. The Veterinarians, are both stellar. They really care about you and your fur baby and are willing to give you advice and listen to your concerns. If only MY doctor was as good!! If you're on the fence, do it, go see these people, they are great.

We have been bringing our pets to Sunshine for several years now, after having been referred by a reputable kennel. I have lived in many places, from Florida to California, and Drs Twilla and Barry are the finest and most caring veterinarians I have ever worked with. The staff, starting with Randy, are much like the doctors who set the pace.
If you are looking for excellent doctors who charge 'very' reasonable fees, then I strongly suggest to entrust your pets to these folks.
If there was a 10 Star rating then that's what Sunshine would have received from us.

Initially found Dr. Twilla and Sunshine Animal Hospital because my cat of 19 years had decided that it was time to pass-on. Staff was compassionate and performed the euthanasia procedure as a courtesy and they helped facilitate the cremation and urn for my cat's remains. Since 2009, I've gone from having 1 cat to 3 cats and 2 dogs. While I don't take them to SAH for annual vaccinations, any medical problems (like when my dog got pregnant or my cat nearly died from an obstruction in her esophagus) have been expertly dealt with by Dr. Twilla and the staff. No surprises. Services are reasonable and an estimate is always provided prior to anything being done.

Starting with the finest Vets, Dr's Mark Twilla and Jim Barrie are the best! Caring, thorough and great about explaining your pet's diagnosis and treatment options. And their entire staff - are also excellent and very caring and obviously love what they do - we appreciate each of them so much!. We've had two generations of pups with quite of range of health issues and we're very thankful for the amazing care that they have provided our former pets and currently for our Border Collie, Scout and Border Collie Mix, Cookie, who absolutely love their caregivers at Sunshine - thank you all so much!

Dr. Barrie and Dr. Twila are THE best. Two of the most caring and compassionate individuals I've ever met. Sunshine animal hospital and Dr. Barrie have been my go-to vet for all my animals over the past 15 years. Their prices are fair and I honestly wouldn't trust my animal's care to anyone else.

I have been taking my three dogs to Sunshine Animal Hospital for about 2 years. The prices are fair and I have been very happy with their service there. My dogs have seen both Dr. James Barrie and Dr. Mark Twilla, and they are both very caring and knowledgable veternarians. I highly recommend this clinic!
