We have been going here with our dogs for years. Recently we adopted a dog from Korea who was rescued by Humane Society International from a dog meat farm. Everything terrifies him. He was one when he got to the US and just about two when we took him in to see Dr. Hannah Ferrell who recently joined her father's practice. Dr. Hannah was so calm and gentle with our terrified little dog and we were able to get his shots updated and him tested for heart worm. We did have to tranquilizer him before coming in but his fear pushed through that. Guy, the vet technician, has always been great with our dogs and helped to corral this little pup so we could get him treated. We are very grateful to the team at Tampa Palms for the care they have given our animals and their compassion during the times we had to put old and very sick dogs to sleep. Read Less

My dog Porter has been going to Dr. Ferrall his entire life, and could not have asked for a better vet! When I first adopted Porter from the pound, he was having a lot of adverse reactions to food and allergens, and Dr. Ferrall helped us identify different items that were causing him to by symptomatic (digetic and skin). Dr. Ferrall was also so kind as to give me information on signs to identify things were "getting worse", as he knew that multiple vet visits in one month were adding up, and by taking his advice I saved myself extra costs that a more business-as-usual vet would have been happy to take advantage of. More than anything though, the entire staff is kind and compassionate, and they are so great with their animal patients. I have moved to the other side of Tampa, and even with the traffic, I still couldn't think of going to a different vet. Read Less

Wow, where to start... My dog and now my puppy are patients of Dr. Ferrall. I have to say my experience couldn't be more opposite. My husband and I adopted our dog, Ellie and soon after she developed a skin condition. She was itchy and losing hair and Dr. Ferrall told us right away it could be mange. After a skin scraping was done it was confirmed. Our Ellie had demodex mange. He gave us her treatment and advised we switch her food to a lamb based diet for her skin. He also advised us she would get worse before better when her natural immune system kicks in and fights back the mites. He was dead on about everything. Within a couple of months our puppy was back to her beautiful healthy coat and skin. Did we pay for each vet visit to do a check up and scraping? Yes. Why wouldn't we? You are taking up his time to see your pet, time he could be seeing another pet. This is a business. He has to pay all of his staff for their time. Which by the way, they are phenomenal. His vet techs are top notch. They all genuinely love their jobs and the animals that come in. We've taken our dog elsewhere before finding Dr. Ferrall but they didn't compare. He is also charging much less than the other vets in our area. The only thing I will say I don't like is they don't take CareCredit, but that is my only gripe here. Wonderful staff and great vet. Wow. I will never go back here again! Just moving here from out of state I recently rescued a kitten. When I started searching for a vet I found this place across the street from me and thought how great and convenient!! First off the girl at the front was nice. So I thought the doctor would be the same. When the doctor walked in he barely spoke a word to me. I started to explain that I recused this cat and that he had skin issues on his ears and paws and he was very itchy even after I had rid him of fleas. Then proceeded to show the doctor that I had bites and hives allllllllllllll over my body! I am in nursing school and took it upon myself to research what this might be. My whole house had been infected and I was up all night pouring apple cider vinegar on my skin trying to kill whatever might be hitting me. I explained this to the doctor and he said that we needed to do a fungus test which I knew would not be the issue but was trying to let him do his job. He came back to tell me that my cat had no signs of ring worm or any other fungus. I said I needed to figure out what this was now! He told me to take home some ointment and that if it wasn't helping come back. A couple of weeks went by and it got worse. For both me and my cat! I called the office and told the receptionist that I needed to talk to the doctor because the only other thing this could be was mange! Which I knew was rare in kittens. However based on rescuing him from the street I knew that the possibility was stronger. I wanted to see if he could test my kitten for mange and I would pay for the test and treatment but not pay the exam fee because he had already looked at my kitten. He never called back.I called again. Waited on hold and the doctor got on the phone with me and I proceeded to tell him everything I was doing to treat my cat and nothing was working and than I'm suffering up all night smearing my body in icy hot just so I can't feel my skin just so I can get some sleep. Not to mention I had to spend $200 to get a steroid shot and get steroids to stop the hives. I was totally wore out and was just looking for him to not charge me just for the exam fee. He proceeded to ask me questions like oh well what type of mange do you think it is?? In a condescending way. I said I believe it's scarcoptic mange .. And I think you should have tested for that to begin with. So again I'll pay for the fee for the test and the treatment but if you could help me by waiving the exam fee because I have spent hundreds already and I'm a struggling nursing student right now. Then to my surprise he decided to tell me that he would not waive the exam fee and that I needed to come back and get more shots for my cat anyways and if I didn't have the money to pay for an animal then I probably shouldn't have one right now! Needless to say I was shocked and appalled that he would make a comment like this after I rescued this animal and already thrown hundreds of dollars into helping him get healed. This would have been a vet that I would've continued to take my cat to throughout his entire adult life and they blew any chance of having a returning customer. I did not feel like the doctor cared about me or my cat. AT ALL!! After that I found a doctor named Dr. love in Clearwater who is doing free exams and I ended up going there and paying only for the sarcoptic mange and scraping. After they had on the scraping they took me in the back to show me under the microscope that my cat did in fact have sarcoptic mange and I was correct and they treated him with a lime in sulfur dip for $40 and gave him great care and love. I wouldn't recommend this place not only because the doctors only in it to get extra cash from people instead of building long-lasting relationships with you and your pet but because I don't feel that the doctor is qualified to make a diagnosis after seeing obvious evidence of the symptoms for my animal. Ruling out mange just because it's rare is not the proper way. Especially when the signs of flaking skin. Open wounds and no growth of hair. Not to mention itching ..constant howling in pain and my bites on my body. These were all right there for him to see. My cat is happy and healthy now and all it took was 2 dips! I no longer am scratching and loosing sleep and I owe it to this other doctor who actually took the time to care and love my cat the way he should have been! They love my cat and play with him don't just treat him like a dollar sign.Too bad for this doctor who lost more than his exam fee! Read Less
