I've been taking my miniature schnauzer to Tampa Vet for almost a year and I only have great things to say about this hospital. Dr. Webster is awesome and made me and my husband feel so comfortable. My dog has issues with her anal glands and believe me getting them emptied is no fun. Yet the vet tech Nicholas is amazing. He's such a nice guy and so pleasant. We feel so comfortable handing our dog to Nicholas and when we make an appointment for our dogs anal glands to be emptied we always make sure Nicholas is available that's how great he is!!!!!! I stopped bringing my 2 dogs here after one had a neck injury and stroked. Blue Pearl was awful and was TVH's recommendation. When Lucy didn't improve, Dr at TVH said she needs to be put down (after waiting all day to get a callback and after my son demanded someone call me). I got a second opinion from another vet who said she needed another MRI by his recommended neurologist and possibly surgery. Well Dr Chris Levine's diagnosis was a bulging disk (we saw MRI). He operated, repaired it and he removed a lot of scar tissue. He saved my dog and she's doing great 2 years later. THV is very expensive and the care is terrible. Get second opinions from a vet who really cares and calls you back quickly.Response to your response:Good point. 5 years with you and I couldn't get a call back when Lucy and I needed you most. It's sad. Not sure what you meant regarding Blue Pearl. Dr Webster saw her after BP and kept drugs flowing but no improvement.  When I got the call back from her regular dr at your office it was euthanize. Dr Webster called a few weeks later to check on her because you got results from Dr Levine. At that point she was on the road to recovery. Glad I didn't take your advice. I've been taking my cats to Tampa Vet for 13 years now and never once was I disappointed. Doctor Webster is my Vet and she's great (although my cats don't really share my positive feelings for her). She always seems to know what is best for the pets, with an eye to the costs. she doesn't prescribe drugs or tests that are not extremely necessary, she's always warm and loving towards the pets and she also knows how to deal with stressed-out pet owners! Last time I was there I saw a different vet, Doctor Gulledge, who is just as caring and knowledgeable as Dr. Webster and very calmly was able to handle my cat the best way possible! Read Less

Be careful if you go here. Triple check everything they want to do with your pet. I keep a folder with very organized medical records for my dog and when I went to Tampa Veterinary Hospital and provided them with this info they neglected to care about his history and gave him a 3 year rabies shot he had already received 6 months prior. Not only that but they charged me for it and I didn't realize it until we were already 25 miles back home. I was dumb enough to pay their bill without questioning on the spot. I usually take my dog to the humane society down the street for check-ups because they are less than half the cost of Tampa Veterinary Hospital. The worst place by far to go to treat a guinea pig. I am frustrated at the fact that they charged me $300 just to give me four medicines that only made her worse. She had an extrereme head tilt and was rolling around. We were noticing it getting worse so we went back and they tried to scam us to give them another $300 and we just took the meds. They told us to stop two meds and gave us another prescription medication which we gave her and only took two doses and she started having diarrhea refused to eat and anal bleeding. I went today to take my 4 year old baby boy. He’s half pit/lab and has a bad skin infection . He was taken care of extremely well by the doctor and the vet technician was so so nice. I told them I had a budget and they worked with me to keep the prices as low possible. I loved their thoroughness and bed side manner. It’s hard to find a doctor and vet tech with such great experience and kindness. He’s due to go back in two weeks and I can’t wait for them to see him again. I live in Carrollwood so this place was about 25 mins from my house but it was well worth the drive. Not to mention, they have a special for new patients. If your pet has never been seen it only costs $5.00 to take them in for their wellness check up. I was extremely pleased with the service. I have been going to Tampa Veterinary Hospital for a number of years even though there are many Veterinary Clinics much closer to home. I am always receive a friendly greeting upon arrival. Refreshments are available for the short time I have to wait for my appointment. I have a small dog and when entering the treatment room, Dr. Webster squats down to say hello to Casper. She is very attentive to his needs as she checks him out. Over the years, I have had to have dogs euthanized and compassion is always shown in those sad times. I continue going to TVH because the doctors and all staff really care about my pets. All the doctors are up to date and attend conferences to maintain their level of competency. Read Less

I have lived in multiple cities and have had to switch vets as a result over the years and Dr Webster is by far the best vet we have ever had! She is so caring, knowledgeable and up to date with the most recent research studies and treatments available for pets. She saved my dog Kenzy after being a rescue and diagnosed with heartworm. She has called multiple times to check on her and even calls after hours or on weekends when needed to make sure she’s okay. She has also been wonderful with my other dog Keaton who was born with a liver shunt. This vet offers the best care and is worth every penny! So happy to have found a vet we can trust! Read Less

Had to bring my 9 year old lab in. Came on Sunday at 8:30 am and they worked us in within 30 minutes.  After running tests, she ended up needing surgery immediately.  They did everything possible to help her.  I cannot express enough thanks to the staff.  Her tail never stopped wagging and went with the staff without reservation (not her normal).  She  even knew she was in good hands. This place is AMAZING. I came in tonight for an emergency, my dog got a treat stuck in his throat. Dr. Bruce was absolutely heaven sent and got it out. Unhappy with our overall experience after visiting Tampa Veterinary Hospital while away from home. The prices are astronomical (~$570 for the consultation, respiratory tests, and medicine... We would have paid $1,600 if we had done all the tests they wanted us to do). The staff, while friendly, does not seem particularly knowledgeable. The clinic was in some form of minor chaos both times we visited. Then they offered absolutely ZERO support after informing us that our fully-DA2PPC-vaccinated 9-month-old dog /likely/ has canine distemper. They only told us to keep him away from other dogs for five months because the virus is contagious. We had to do research on our own of the symptoms and treatments thereof. They have also been difficult when communicating with our home veterinarian as we try to send the records back home. Unfortunately, we will not be returning, and we will be having our dog retested at another location for canine distemper as he is not showing symptoms, but we would like peace of mind. Read Less

We've only started using this place in the last two years because we recently moved from out of state. In the time we brought our Golden here we've never had any complaints. The ladies at the front desk were always so friendly to us and so loving to our Copper. Whenever he was brought in for a routine visit or a specific issue we were always given prices upfront and alternate choices in care. Unfortunately, our Copper was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer and had to be ultimately put down. My husband and I were new to this experience. We never had to care for a sick dog (10 1/2 years old) then having to make a decision to euthanize him. Dr. Rodriguez was amazing. He was very upfront, informative and patient with our concerns. We made a lot of visits/phone calls to him while caring for Copper and he'd always make himself available to us and help ease our concerns. The ladies at the front desk were all very sympathetic and caring throughout the process as well. We will never forget how wonderfully they treated us when we were at our saddest. I'm not sure why there are so many negative comments. This place is amazing. I have an English bulldog that needed surgery and the doctors were very kind and so nice towards us. They seem to really care about the health of my pet. They also take into account the parents of the pet. They call you and let you know how they are doing. Dr. Bruce did an excellent job with my roommates sick puppy and was super understanding while she was trying to make a decision on what to do. The dog is now at the emergency vet getting the care he needs, and without her spending so much time with him he would have passed away. I think everyone at tampa veterinary hospital is great. I have taken Max there for a couple of years now and also take my puppy Bella. I never have a problem getting an appointment and they are always really nice and helpful. I just find it a little funny when reading the other reviews posted and with the comment about an old building and prices. Well last time I checked the age of the building didn't affect the care of my dogs and my dogs are like my kids, so their health and care are top priorities. I also find their prices are the usual veterinary prices. So if you feel the need to take your pet to some fancy vet office then yes find another place but if your top priority is the care and health of your pet then Tampa Veterinary Hospital is your place! Also on a side note my dog trainer also recommends the TVH and he also does consults for one of those fancy pet resorts so even more proof if you needed it. Read Less

Extremely judgmental and rude place to go. Save your money and go else where there are a lot of good vets out there. The veterinarian here do not care for you or your animal. If you love your animal do not take them here they will certainly die or be mistreated. You are just another number and more money to them. They are very hypocritical and lack a huge space in the knowledge field. And instead of humbling themselves to the matter they provide false information and feedback. Do your research online and look at the reviews. It's a reason they have so many 1 star reviews. But yet stay at 4 star. They delete comments because they don't want anyone to know the truth. I had a wonderful experience tonight at this vet hospital. My dog is a new patient coming from another city and they fit us in with no problems because of her sickness this week. Hopefully with the Rx she was given she'll be back to her regular 10 year old lazy self soon in a few days. I've read some of the other reviews about this clinic being overpriced and unfortunately vet care is just an expensive part of life if you have pets. I have spent a LOT of money on my 2 pugs over the last 12 years, but that's the price you pay for the joy of a dog. I always experience sticker shock when I see the estimate of the charges, but I honestly haven't heard of many vet clinics being that far apart in price, and pet insurance is always a nice avenue to take when owning dogs. I made an appointment (last minute) for my dog that had been very sick. The staff was very courteous and did an amazing job.I was explained, in detail, what each item I could buy was for and that it was optional. I was never pressured to pay a high price (like some of the previous reviews claim). Cinnabear is at home resting and seems much more content than when I brought her in. We have been looking for a good veterinarian since moving to the area in late 2015.  We have a senior pup with cancer issues and have been disappointed by many vets in pinellas county.  The staff here is excellent.  Sophie, the receptionist, took our concerns to Dr. Webster, who called us back later that night and personally moved the appointment schedules around in order to fit us in the next day.  Dr. Bruce (one of the vets on staff) was great. Listened to all our concerns and had a wonderful bedside manner.  Our dog seemed very comfortable with her and the tech, Emily.  They were gentle with her and gave a very thorough exam, even though we were a little late to the appointment.  They showed a great deal of concern about our dog's comfort level and were interested in hearing extra details about past medical concerns. We were most pleased with the service here.  Dr. Bruce gave our girl the best care we have received in many years, with the second best being the appointment with Dr. Webster we had earlier.  Our dog has often been very nervous with veterinarians in the past, but she was quite at ease with both Dr. Webster and Dr. Bruce.  I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a good veterinarian.  Would have given 5 stars but this is only our second visit. Wonderful staff and very caring. In July my PTSD and "comfort dog" became very ill. Living in Seminole Heights we took him to a local Vet. The Vet wrote it off without a thorough examination as an "upset stomach". After several days my Rottie became more lethargic and went downhill fast. Dr. Webster was recommended by a friend so we called for an appointment that day. Although they had a very busy day and it was late, the staff along with Dr. Webster remained after hours trying to diagnose my big guys problem. They were very thorough and caring through it all. My Wife and I were a mess, and the staff couldn't of been more gracious. In the end, we weren't able to save my Rottie, but the staff's care and compassion left a great impression on us. Dr. Webster even called us after hours to give us her condolences and even reached out with information about a Veterans group that matches Veterans with dogs for adoptions. The other ratings with one star are accurate. This vet cares about money and is unprofessional. Period. First wellness exam (needed in order for us to board our dog) - waited 45 minutes after appt time. On the second visit we dropped off our dog for boarding while we went on vacation. We signed papers that we were to be called first in case of emergency, our dog needed meds, etc. During vacation, I had a heart attack when I saw we were called... Turns out  they forgot to mention a flu shot was mandatory in order for our dog to stay there. Seriously? Well, what am I supposed to do now? We were hundreds of miles away and did not have anyone to come pick him up. So I had to agree to the flu shot (which our new vet does not "require"). We were expecting a ~$350 bill when we returned from vacation... Nope. We got one for close to $500. We learned they also gave our pup 2 different meds for diarrhea during his stay... My mind was blown. Ok if my dog has diarrhea, but given all other events plus the fact we were not called even though we signed papers stating we were to be notified was not right, ever. Yet, we were going to give this vet another chance... Weeks later I was called on a Friday around noon or so by the vet informing me my dog needed his second round of the flu shot before Saturday or else the vaccine would be ineffective and we would have to start over. You've got to be kidding me! I was not told the flu shot was a series of shots. Luckily I was available the next morning so went ahead and made an appt over the phone. We showed up that next Saturday morning and was told there was not an appt on the books... This was the last straw. After they fit our pup in, gave him the flu vaccine, we immediately left and went straight to another vet. The new vet (Animal Doctors of South Tampa) had a much cleaner facility and even offered me a tour of their kennel area - we didn't ask, but this was never offered up at Tampa Vet Hospital. We've had zero issues here. Additionally, their overnight boarding price is close to $10 a night cheaper than Tampa Vet Hospital. I'm done flushing money away at that place. Read Less

I LOVE this place!! I've been taking my dog here since she was a puppy, and she's now 5. Dr. Webster is my absolute favorite- my dog's, too. She even recognizes her name, and gets excited to "go see dr Webster" hahaha. They have always taken the very best care of us, and always try to work with us on costs and options. I have a Doberman with a lot of really odd health issues.... and since day one they've watched over her, and tried their very best to make sure my girl is in the best health possible. This place is going to be my dog's vet for life! I couldn't ever imagine going anywhere else, let alone having my dog in ANYONE else's care! No way, Jose. I'm staying with TVH for good. If you care about your animals, do not bring them here. Please!They have messed up heart worm tests and told me my dog had heart worms, then told me it was my other dog, they might've messed up the results, and to bring them back after a month and retest. And started talking about extreme treatments and payment (over the phone) before anything was even confirmed. Got them tested again, neither of them had heart worms. $400 later in tests and no apologies.Brought my dog in for a suspected seizure and the owner/head vet took advantage of my being scared and ordered a lot of unnecessary tests for my dog (over $800). Then told me that my dog was going to get cancer if it doesn't get surgery (which was already discussed a year ago and I declined the surgery). She then admitted she didn't read my dog's files. I am a nursing student and my boyfriend is a navy corpsman and cancer survivor so it seemed VERY suspicious. I scheduled with another vet in the area and my dog is completely healthy and all is normal. The lab techs (admittedly) messed up my 5 pound dogs blood work and had to take his blood twice. Then chased him around to get a urine sample with a soup ladle and told me he had bacteria in his urine (I wonder why? Wasn't exactly a sterile sample) and wanted to put him on antibiotics. After ALL of this, not a phone call was made to check on him, only from Webster to tell me pick up antibiotics, or basically spend more money with them. I asked for both of my pets records to be released to the new clinic and it has taken over TWELVE phone calls between me and the secretary of the new clinic to get my dogs' records and they STILL sent the wrong dog's records to the vet. When I called them about it they told me both were sent over, which I confirmed both were not received, I asked them to just resend it (after I had sent a faxed signed copy of a release) and they told me no they had to speak to a manager. If they were already "sent" then why does it need to be "reviewed" still? Because it's a lie. Also, they will not release your dogs files until you sign a release and wait until an owner can take the time to allow you to have your own pets' health records. Last year I brought my cat in and signed all the paperwork in my name because it was my cat. When down to the point of ""euthanization"" for my cat they called my ""mom"" and asked if they should kill her; how did they even get her number? She was on the phone with us when we were there just because we needed comfort. My mom lives on the other side of the country. The next day I came in they wouldn't tell me whether they killed her or not even though I brought her in, I paid for her, I SIGNED the paperwork and, let me just say I am a grown adult so how weird is this situation (I even get paid more than my parents) when I asked to speak to the owners I was put in a room where I was frustrated they murdered my cat without my permission. The head doctor with the short brown hair and one nurse actually yelled at me, after they killed my cat and saw how sad and mad I was they yelled at me?! They also tried to cremate her with a bunch of other cats, after being devestated they killed my cat without my permission I quickly got her body back. It was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. If they wanted to euthanize my cat they should have asked me. Still to this day I am traumatized and triggered. As an animal lover who is vegan because I actually care about animals and humans, I can't stand to see people like this take care of animals that people love. If you love your animal don't go here. Everyday I'm reminded of when I called the hospital and I asked if she was still there and they said "we can't tell you, talk to your mom". Just the amount of disrespect among the workers and establishment is embarrassing. I've tried emailing the owner about it but she never emailed me back. Seriously don't go here. Oh and you can look up my name in your system but I doubt it's there since you didn't have the audacity to call me when my name was the signed authorization on the paperwork and I was the one paying the bills. Last night was our first time to TVH with our 3.5 year old French Bulldog, Leo. We could not be happier with the service and treatment that was provided by Dr. Webster and her staff. Everyone was so accommodating and helpful which we really appreciated as new clients. We feel that Leo is in great hands and respect Dr. Webster's approach of how she handles the animals and the owners. You can visibly see that she along with her staff genuinely love the animals and what they do. Dr. Webster and her staff will definitely be our top choice in Tampa for veterinary care for Leo and our soon to be new French Bulldog puppy, Penelope. We live right in the neighborhood so when we were leaving it truly felt like we were leaving after having a visit with longtime friends. With that said, I highly recommend TVH to anyone in search of a vet in the Tampa area. I especially feel comfortable with Dr. Webster's knowledge and experience with treating French Bulldog's. For a while I was very happy with the service offered by the Tampa Veterinary Hospital, unfortunately my last experience was not pleasant, I got two different diagnostics and was told that further exams were required. When I told the Vet that I was thinking about taking my dog to another vet, they stopped caring about my dog. I was told that they were able to help me completing the forms to submit to the insurance company; it has been three weeks and they have not done anything. I am ever so lucky to have met such a wonderful team as TVH's. They have treated my dogs like family and have paid attention to their wellbeing from the time they arrive at the hospital to even weeks and months after my dogs are out of treatment (with caring calls and emails to assure that my dogs' health continues to be great). That's excellent care! I am extremely thankful to have met Dr. Webster and Ms. Ellis and they have shown such a sense of compassion and have helped me amazingly throughout the years. I took my baby Leo in a little after the holidays. He was involved in a confrontation with another dog and ended up with gashes and bruises everywhere. The people at TVH were so amazing. They were so kind, gentle, and loving to my baby. We did spend a lot of time in and out so it was such a relief to know he was being treated well. The facilities are very clean and comfortable; they even have treats around the building for the nervous pups. My dog has never been excited to walk into a vets office before but is more than happy when we get there. I absolutely love bringing my 2 dogs here. Dr. Webster is a truly amazing vet, you can tell she cares about all the animals there. I was taking my pit bull puppy and my 4 years old German Shepard mix to Banfeild pet hospital and they were AWFUL! I was taking my GS there for the past 3 years and I started taking the puppy since we got him. My dog has a skin allergie condition and breaks out in stores everywhere and the vets would NEVER test it, they would just say "oh that's how he is" I took him to Dr.Webster because my mother inlaw takes her boxer there and the first day I took the puppy, Dr. Webster had me stunned with how gentle and caring she was while handling my puppy also that they actually tested the skin sores. When I brought my GS for limping for a week and Banfeild telling me she was fine, Dr. Webster did X-rays and come to find out she has luxuriating patella and hip dysplasia, so please people never take your babies to Banfeild, GO SEE DR. I have visited three times with my dog and have had a major financial issues each time. It seems that either the front desk staff is incompetent or there is a scan going on. Trip #1: Our bill was supposed to be around $200 (shots, checkup, blood work) but the lady gave us a total of over $300.  Supposedly, she thought we had ordered meds (IDK what she was talking about) so she than corrected it. Trip #2: One of the doctors we've never seen before and will not see again attempted to scare us into more blood work and over $100 or more meds. I asked for a copy of my dogs blood work and consulted with a vet friend of mine in Brandon, and he confirmed there is nothing wrong with my dog. Third and final trip: All I wanted was a nail trim for my dog. My card was charged $177.33. The lady at the front desk said "Oh, the decimal moved when I switched pages on the screen". She than voided the large charge and charged me the $17.33 for the correct amount.  Two business days later and my account is still pending that $177.33 charge. The owner is great, but her staff had ensured that will never return.  I was even considering and had already registered my cat as a patient too. NOPE! Read Less

I normally go to Banfield but they couldnt take my cats in when I called last minute when I discovered they had tapeworms. This vets office is close to my home so I arrived as a walk in. They were very welcoming and offered water, coffee, snacks etc (treats for the animals as well.) I saw a vet within 20 minutes (not bad for a walk in on a busy afternoon) and both the vet and vet assistant were very friendly. My cats have never behaved so well at a vets office! I was amazed. He said all of the cats were in great health, which was nice to hear when I feed them all natural food and keep them indoors. Banfield always tries to sell their products (he needs a teeth cleaning, etc.) I ended up paying around 200 for; 4 cat walk ins, 4 shots for tapeworms, 2 months supply of flea, worm, and tick medicine for 4 cats, as well as 3 months supply of anti inflammatory medicine for my 21 year old cat. This was a nice change since Banfield is so expensive. I highly recommend this vets office and I will continue coming here for everything, (sorry Banfield). Read Less

I was referred here by my girlfriend who really loves her cat. So, I took her recommendation without reservation. Good enough for her, good enough for me. I went in without an appointment. I was greeted by the friendly and professional staff. They were really nice and offered me a fresh Cup of coffee, which was greatly appreciated at 8 am. After a short wait, the vet checked out my kitty. I felt she was very thorough with the exam and listened to my questions with genuine interest. Afterwards, they helped me bring the kitty to my car because my hands were full. They have a really great staff and are open 7 days a week. They didn't pressure me to buy any unnecessary items or insurance. I would recommend this vet to anyone. Read Less
