We bring our babies from Mt. Dora to Tavares Animal Hospital because we love the Drs and all the staff at Tavares Animal Hospital. They are all so very professional and friendly. Dr. Blackwell is so thorough and takes the time to really explain everything that is going on with your fur baby. He always calls to check up on how our fur babies are doing and that means the world to us. You will always be greeted by staff with a warm welcoming smile. Even better... Here's a thought... Think of a better way to care for behavior we were victims of- strapping a dying dog inside a door jam??? Barbaric! Shows fear- shows cold and heartless staff... She didn't even talk to him... Touch him- zero!!!!!!!! However, I stand firm. I still think it's funny that Taveres animal hospital has had 2 people add 5 stars within an hour of each other.... Today- Do you think we don't know your trying to fake 5s... Making it glow for all to see the cover up... Cold hearted. I am home... Thinking about what you did to me and my family, today.... Here's what I have to say to you- staff that deletes their complaints from social medial.... Amanda Clark- I am writing reviews- but if I can get you to care better for families and pets in one and only one message- it's worth my trouble...You are too new to your industry. You don't know when to care for a pet and family... Too text book- cold and bossy, rude- no compassion.... You were afraid of my dog. And your assistant choked my dying dog.  You aren't smart enough to feel out the family and pet, dying... Know this- people with feelings..... A pet is a family it's like a dying child.... You will understand this some day.... But for now- you are too young and your ego is too big. We are making formal complaints. My daughter has a video of you spitting nasty.  At a client who's pup was dying- fool!!!! I am a protective mother- you rather turn a dying dog than you move???? Why- the book? You could have calmly discussed things instead of being a little brat.... I am reporting you. My family has a video of you in my space, rude and confrontational. If you and your assistant want to believe you did the best you could have- shame on you... God will show u both a better way I can only hope. We will be taking this to the next level. You were so out of line that it's hard for me to even forgive- but, I will- because u are a baby... A child with no experience. With an attitude and when out of your element..... I love this place! Most vet offices make it very clear that they are uncomfortable handling pet rats, but Dr. Budd and the staff makes me feel my babies are in loving and great hands. Dr. Budd talks to them and soothes them while she examines them like they are any other pet. They also get me in for emergencies and are always quick to answer my questions. I think they are very reasonable with their prices, especially with the services they provide. I am never in the office waiting for my appointments long either. Keep up the great work! Read Less

I brought my yellow-green slider turtle in, he was not acting himself. Dr. Budd asked all the right questions and took the time to answer all my questions and help me understand my turtle. Dr. Budd is very knowledgeable about reptiles, as soon as I went home and implemented everything she suggested my turtle was back to his old self. Everyone at Tavares Animal Hospital was very caring. Just had both our dogs at Tavares Animal Hospital. Dr. Amanda and the staff were amazing. Our 8 year old Mastidane Murphy really is a grumpy old man and has not had a great relationship with any vet until now. He has scared most vets off because of his size and propensity to growl and desire to bite but not here. They were all gentle with him and before you knew it he was loving the ear rubs and lying on their feet. Not many vets want to handle big dogs or ones that are on a raw food diet. The staff were more than happy to accommodate our choice and were thorough with the evaluation and did not over recommend any particular kind of treatment which is essential for those pet owners whose budget might be restricted. Our other dog Logan loved everyone too and had a full check up. What did impress me was that Dr Amanda wanted to end the day on a good note and not push any further testing so we brought Murphy back two days later to have further treatment. I highly recommend Tavares Animal Hospital to any pet owner. The pet owners that I met spoke highly of all the staff and treatment that their animals received especially in an emergency. I have been taking all of my animals here since I moved here-almost 10 years.  I am especially fond of Dr. Reid-he is so gentle and he really shows that he cares about your animals.  He goes the distance for your pet.  The place is clean, the staff is friendly and remembers you and your pets.  I don't have a lot of money but they also work with you on payments-especially when you have an emergency.
