I have had ups and downs here with them but absolutely will never go back.   For 2 years I have dealt with them and one receptionist is great and understanding.  The other one is not and just told me we explained last time you to have to bring your dog in for refill.  No they did not, and I explained my dog has 1 pill left (she takes 3) and this being Saturday until they can get her in will be days WITHOUT meds.  I am done with them, taking her to a new vet today. This review has nothing to do with the quality of medical care my dogs have received over the past 11 months. This has to do with customer service or the complete lack of it. There are 2 vets at this location and I won't name names however my contention is with the male vet. I will tell my experience and let the members of Google judge me or not. I bounced a $58 check to these guys. Yes, I did that, I own it, it's a true story. I have in office in Clearwater and in Denver. And I have lots of money flowing in and out of my checking account, sometimes $10,000 to $15,000 a day. Over the last 11 months I spent almost $1,000 with these guys for the care of my 2 babies. One of my dogs had a hacking cough and I brought them in to have them looked at. I called ahead and spoke to the front staff and sent a video just to make sure it was something that needed to be checked. During these conversations no one had told me I had a check that hadn't been paid. They definitely suggested that I bring in my dog as it may have been heartworms. So I brought in my dog. The vet pulled me aside into a room and told me that i had bounced a check to them. He informed me that they had had made 2 calls to me (the second call was made the day before i walked in). It turns out they had called my Denver number and not my Tampa number. And the good doctor proceeded to chastise me as if I am some kind of petulant child. He even said and I quote "I don't even know what a bounced check is". Now, I believe incidents like this can be opportunities to make clients for life. If the conversation had gone like "Sir, it looks like there's a problem and one of your checks didn't clear. It's only $58. Just go up to the front and take care of it and I'll be happy to see your dog." If this had been delivered with some tact and a smile, I would still be a loyal customer. But instead, the good doctor chose to let his ego get the best of him and ruin an income stream, sow ill will into the community and get 1 star. So there you have it. SAD! Our dog was bleeding from the mouth and we could not tell the reason. He has been a patient for 14 years but this office refused to see us on an emergency yesterday. The doctor was out to lunch until 2pm and had a full patient schedule the rest of the day. So disappointed how we were treated. We ended up finding another clinic that saw us but took awhile of calling. We will be taking our two pets to another veterinarian. Read Less

I have been using Animal Hospital of Treasure Island for about two months. They are awesome. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable when I call. Dr. Forkner is wonderful to my cat, Coal. I have an ongoing issue with him and we visit about every 2-3 weeks for a check up. I am so glad I found a vet 5 minutes from home that I trust my cats too. Read Less

I can finally bring myself to write this... a few weeks back we had to bring our Pebbles in to be put down. ..she was 17 years old and my precious babygirl. ..from the moment I stepped inside, throughout the entire visit, and up until I had to leave....the Entire Staff... Simply Amazing...Truly the best place I've ever taken one of my beloved pets to! Everyone inside this hospital is beyond loving, caring, thoughtful and phenomenal! I was truly touched by how wonderful they all were! In one of the saddest times in my life, they truly made us feel like family....I can not even begin to thank everyone enough! Sometime late Tuesday our beloved dog (freedom) slipped out of the house and decided to roam around the neighborhood with out us. After an all night exhausted search we came to a painful realization that we may never see him again. It was then our neighbors help search for him. Thank God one of our neighbors thought to call the TI animal hospital. THANK YOU for taking good care of him. He was returned to us bathed,toe nails clipped,pampered and gave him a new collar. In July 2015, our 14 year old, 11 lb, Yorkie was viciously attacked by a pit bull. Following emergency care on a Sunday, Angie required daily wound care which was received at Treasure Island Vet. Angie received the best care I could imagine. Everyone at this vet is genuinely caring and thorough. I've been to several vets in past years who don't come close to this qualify of care. I have been taking my fur babies here for years ! I love Doc Allen.........he is the best vet around and has an excellent mentor. Doc Schroeder is amazing, but he is getting ready to retire and has Doc Allen following in his footsteps ! The front desk staff, as well as all the vet techs are amazing ! I just wish I could find a vet in the Port Richey area that compares with Doc Allen, which is going to be a very hard feat.............if I have too, I would drive the 1 1/2 hr. trip to see him. I love this vet even moved out of the area and I drive 40 min just to take my dog there. When you find a great caring affordable vet you don't move vets if you do not have to. They take such great care of my dog Sachmo and even got us in for a emergency and really spent time with us and our dog to make sure he was okay. Sachmo has seen all three vets there and they all three are amazing would recommend all of them! Read Less

I like most other animal lovers was looking for a place that I could feel comfortable knowing that my pet was getting the best care possible. I found it when my Chihuahua and I became patients at The Animal Hospital of Treasure Island. Dr. Boland has been a beacon of light to me and my dog. I was granted renewed hope that he could live symptom free of his nagging allergies and enjoy a long, healthy and happy life. For the past 8 years we have been rescuing and adopting Great Pyrenees. Words cannot express our gratefulness and gratitude to Dr. Schroeder, Sara and the rest of the staff at the Animal Hospital of Treasure for helping all of our dogs (and cats), especially Petey who recently was diagnosed with bone cancer, had an amputation and just recently had to be put down because the cancer had shown up in his lungs.
