They are one of the few practices that trying to alleviate the animal welfare problem in Florida! Dr. Sarah helped me immensely with a homeless cat. After I trapped the cat, they neutered him. A few months later, the cat adopted me, as he seemed in need of a safe haven. Pete (as he is known now) was injured and in need of medical care. For a reasonable price, Dr. Sarah gave him a full check up, pain meds, FELV/FIV test, parasite screening, antibiotics, and sound advice. I brought my 12 year old Buddy, a miniature poodle rescued from a puppy mill for an emergency visit last week. I arrived at opening without an appointment and was told I could see Dr. Dan right away. Buddy had been coughing all night and we were terrified of losing him. Dr. Dan took x-rays and had the diagnosis and treatment perfectly. I needed to visit a veterinarian 2 weeks ago and decided to go see Dr Dan, I had never been there before. My kitty Mikki had a swollen crusty left eye. They were wonderful, the exam was spot-on, and with the treatment prescribed Mikki is in great shape. Courteous staff, VERY friendly doctors, and a reasonable bill. Dr. Dan and staff are wonderful.  He is the regular vet for our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Molly.  When Molly was appearing lethargic and not eating for a couple of days, took her to Dr. Dan. They did a urine test and came back as an infection. Prescribed antibiotic but said if not better quick, bring her back.  About 5 days later, took Molly back, without an appointment and got to see Dr. Dan quickly.  He did an Xray and it showed enlarged kidney and was worried about stones. That afternoon he had a sonogram doctor come in and the sonogram showed right kidney full and something in left ureter.  They withdrew by needle infection from the kidney.  Dr. Dan immediately called an expert veterinary surgeon in Melbourne and got us an appointment for consult the next day. Bottom line was, the right kidney had to be removed and a stone removed from the left ureter.  Without Dr. Dan's quick response and actions, we would definitely have lost Molly. He and his staff are also good on follow up, are kind and gentle. Read Less

We recently lost our dog. He had seen Dr. Dan at the end of June for a physical and shots and he totally missed a lump on his neck. I felt it in August and I brought him in early Sept for the lump and general lack of eating, lethargy and Dr Sara did a needle biopsy and scheduled surgery when it came back sarcoma. Dog got worse and worse and surgery was cancelled. I told Dr Sara that his stool was black liquid, indicating blood. She suggested labs. Thankfully, I decided to get another opinion. This vet felt his belly (1 week later) and said he felt a very large spleen, which on ultrasound included a large tumor. He asked if they hadn't felt this at all and the answer was NO! We lost our dog and the outcome probably would have been the same, but both of them, Dr Dan and Sara, misdiagnosed him. Yes, they are nice, but if you want a good clinician and diagnostician, I would go elsewhere. Read Less

Dr. Dan and Dr. Sara's dedication to their fur baby clients is beyond reproach. They strive to treat all animals regardless of their owners financial status. They've given me some breaks with new rescues I bring in for their first visit. After that it's business as usual as it should be. They are a for profit business and they deserve to profit for the hard work they perform every day. They work diligently with the non profits but like any business they have to draw the ...line somewhere. I know of several great vets in town but I give my business to Dr. Dans because they've been there for me regardless what day it is, what hour it is, when they're out of town and even when they've been at a special event for one of their children. I'd be negligent not to mention the staff that work for them. They've also given up weekends to run spay and neuter clinics, work late into the evening as necessary and are very knowledgeable of veterinary medicine. This was our second visit to Dr Dan's Animal Hospital, and my first. I must say, we are impressed with the patience and kindness the entire staff shows. No fancy overhead that I observed with the building inside or out. No pushy sales ploys, no rushing, it was a great experience. Dr Dan was Highly recommended by everyone we spoke to. He seemed like a really great Dr and loved seeing our dogs. We took our female in to be spayed and I trusted Dr Dan fully! Little did I know, but Dr Dan doesn't do surgery. Some other dr who has never seen my dog or me did the surgery.   She killed my baby. No remorse. She seemed put off that I was so uncontrollably upset. One vet tech was on her cell phone complaining that she couldn't leave because I was refusing to leave without answers! Having recommended several of my clients to Dr. Dan, I work for a 5013c non profit kitty rescue and was told by his office staff that one our rescue kitties who has a broken leg would be charged 175 for xray plus 50 for exam. Impossible for a non profit to afford and was also told that they are no longer taking on any more rescues. Though I love Dr. Dan and think he is wonderful and caring, I hope this post is read by you, Dr. Dan. Please help as I cannot bring any more clients to you if this is how we are treated, out kitty needs help and despite the above, we'd like that help from you at a reduced cost. We cannot understand how you can spay/neuter over 180 cats at no charge but cannot help a poor kitty with a broken leg with an xray. Please help. Read Less

I can NOT even compliment Dr. Dan and his staff enough! I encountered a tragic accident with one of my special fur babies shortly after our recent move to Fl. from GA. After a horrendous visit with a vet in Ft Pierce, a new friend told me to try this office! Well we did and Dr Dan has given my sweet Lil man a fighting chance! He was excited to helps us, he was kind, he was pro-active and he remained positive the whole time even though we knew things might be grim! We don't live in Vero year round and had not yet established a Ver. On a Saturday needed to have our puppy checked for blood in her stool I called several Vets and so me were actually very rude. Dr. Dan's receptionist was awesome she got Dr. Sara on the phone they were also double booked but they worked us in. His staff is great, he is awesome he spent a lot of time with us. I had been a long time client at Dr Dans and a loyal one.Dr Sara did not agree with me on something not related to my pets but a program that she and I and others were involved in.ok reasonable people can disagree.My puppy became quite sick and I called for an appointment which I got. A few minutes later they called to cancel the appt with Dr Dan because I had hurt Dr Sara's feelings according to them.Could we settle that later and could they see my sick puppy.No.I was frantic and furious.Dr Sara would let my puppy die because she was angry with me ,Fortunately we found another clinic that would see my sick puppy.In my opinion Dr Sara's actionwas unprofessional and uncalled for. I called numerous vets. The phone receptionist at most vets get mean and nasty if you ask how much then they demand you set up an appointment to get an estimate. Dr.Dans receptionist will not not give a hard and fast amount, but will give a estimate that can change based on what they find. It is better than the other vets in Vero Beach will do and he seems reasonably priced. For a cat to have teeth cleaned, basic shots, and two extractions you are looking at about $400. Read Less
