For about 6 years of my pet's life, Dr Forbes took care of my Zeus. They were very caring. Zeus was a chihuahua so he didn't like everyone but he wagged his tail here. He knew they would care for him whether coming in for check up, treatment or boarding. They found he had a thyroid issue and medicated him. My sweet boy died and I found him and I was distraught. He was my first pet and my first baby. He was my boy and he loved his mama. He would risk his very life for me and he did many times. He had a personality of a human being! I called South Shore Animal Hospital hysterical crying who told me I could bring him in. They had him cremated for me and returned him to me which I will keep his ashes forever. South Shore was kind enough to give me a precious gift which was a MOLD of his PAW print. The most thoughtful, touching and meaningful thing anyone could do for me in this sad grieving moment in my life because that is the only thing I have left of him now. when I miss him, I go to this paw print and it remind me of his little paw I used to touch when he was here with me and touch it now and I tell him how much I miss him. He is irreplaceable to me. They also sent me a card with a beautiful poem. RIP my little Zeus. You are in my heart forever and thank you so much to South Shore Animal Hospital for caring for him and giving me such a priceless everlasting gift. I will have this gift forever. We love Dr Forbes and her Staff!! We had to put down our Gracie (black Lab) yesterday. Gracie had bone cancer. Our family was/ is devasted as she was with us for 10 years. Dr Forbes and her Staff showed Gracie, my husband and I so much care and compassion during the euthanasia. They made sure Gracie had a calm, peaceful and loving environment. We use to see Dr Forbes in a BOCA Raton office. When she left there I was devistated and I did not know where to find her. My lab mix was diagnosed with heart worm. I again was devistated . I used my resources and found Dr Forbes. Thank goodness she treated my dog as if it was her own, unfortunately the treatment did not work but Dr Forbes would not give up. We started treating my dog again and we are in the middle of treatment and we are not giving up. I am a pest to the office with all my questions but the staff is always pleasant and very helpful. I would suggest going and seeing Dr Forbes for any of your pet needs. I travel from BOCA and I would travel further if I had to just to see her. She is the BEST. Read Less

My entire family has used Dr. Karen Forbes for years. I can tell you that's a lot of dogs and cats. She truly cares about our animals. She explains everything and answers all our questions. We could not be more pleased with Dr. Forbes and her staff. They have been there so many times no matter when we needed an appointment. We left a large vet's office due to out pets (kids) were just a number and we could never get out of the office for under $200. Well we decided to go to a smaller office and we could not be more thrilled with South Shore. She allows us to bring all of our animals in at once for check up's and only charges for one office visit. We never had that anywhere else. Dr Forbes listens to you and really works with you and your pet to figure out what is going on and make suggestions. He Dr who covers when she is off is also wonderful. Any time I have asked for prices the staff always would advise me. Before any work was done on my babies they always would let us know the price. I took my dog here for a follow-up visit. I was informed by the vet tech on his last visit, I would not be charged for a "re-check." After the follow-up, they charged me $40 dollars for eye drops they administered outside of the exam room. I was not aware they gave him eye drops, let alone I would be charged for it. At the very least, their staff needs to do a better job of informing customers of the costs ahead of time, especially since I was told there would be no charge. After reading other reviews on yelp, they are consistent with not being upfront about their prices. I had considered having Dr. Forbes as my vet for my other dog. After this experience, I will be going to another vet. Read Less

I cannot say enough good about this place!  After searching for vet who could actually figure out why my dog kept getting ear infections, we found South Shore.  They were able to quickly figure out the cause and help get her treated.  They are always able to get us in quickly.  They are friendly and it is obvious that they love animals. The office is very efficiently run with knowledgable staff. I am grateful  they were able to fit in my small older dog on an emergency basis while I am here for the horse show. Dr. Forbes quickly and accurately diagnosed the problem as elevated liver enzymes and set about a series of confirmatory tests, medications and follow up. I had a wonderful experience at South Shore Animal Hospital and with Dr. Forbes. The entire staff was welcoming and caring to me and my family when we thought we had to put our dog down, and even after when we realized she could be treated. They explain everything in terms that are easy to understand, they are caring, and the prices are very good for a Wellington vet. The office was clean and welcoming and definitely worth every penny. I plan to continue bringing all my animals to Dr. Forbes as long as her office is open in the area. Read Less

My experience at the South Shore Animal Hospital was the worse. I would not recommend this place to any one. I received a quote by phone for $34.00. I called and spoke to the only guy who work there he assured Me the price was accurate. I called again to ensure there was no Aditional price he assured me all is well. I gave my son my credit card to go and pick up the dog. When my son paid the price was double. I called to get he charges reverse the guy said nope the  price stands. I had to call my bank to get the situation taken care of and even then the hospital refused to remove the charges. The guy was rude. When I call to speak to the doctor they hang up on me.
