If the doctor can’t do a surgery for whatever reason and you need a surgeon I highly suggest you do the biopsy with the specialist. In my experience the price was the same and the specialist does the biopsy in such a less invasive way. I spent 7 months healing a biopsy done by Dr Forbes and it got infected multiple times. The specialist did a second biopsy just to make sure what it was before surgery and you could barely tell where it was done. Really had a bad experience with this vet and spent ALOT of money.

I would not go back to this animal hospital. This morning my Yorkie had something fall on her head so in percaution I took her to this vet to make sure she was ok. When I got in there I was told the doctor was in surgery but that they would take my dog back to check her vitals. When they came back they said she was fine but wanted to keep her, to cut her nails (after a head trauma that would have made her more upset) and to give her anti-nausea medicine. I told them I didn’t not want any of that done to upset her worse and that I would take her home and watch her closely. I was told ok but then when they came back I was informed that an exam was being done anyways. After 5 min later I was given back my dog and was charged $85.00. We don’t even know if she was examined or not because we never got to see the doctor or anything that was done.
All they want to do us up sell you and charge unreasonable fees. I prefer to go to a vet that cares more about my pet than money.

For about 6 years of my pet's life, Dr Forbes took care of my Zeus. They were very caring. Zeus was a chihuahua so he didn't like everyone but he wagged his tail here. He knew they would care for him whether coming in for check up, treatment or boarding. They found he had a thyroid issue and medicated him. My sweet boy died and I found him and I was distraught. He was my first pet and my first baby. He was my boy and he loved his mama. He would risk his very life for me and he did many times. He had a personality of a human being! I called South Shore Animal Hospital hysterical crying who told me I could bring him in. They had him cremated for me and returned him to me which I will keep his ashes forever. South Shore was kind enough to give me a precious gift which was a MOLD of his PAW print. The most thoughtful, touching and meaningful thing anyone could do for me in this sad grieving moment in my life because that is the only thing I have left of him now. when I miss him, I go to this paw print and it remind me of his little paw I used to touch when he was here with me and touch it now and I tell him how much I miss him. He is irreplaceable to me. They also sent me a card with a beautiful poem. RIP my little Zeus. You are in my heart forever and thank you so much to South Shore Animal Hospital for caring for him and giving me such a priceless everlasting gift. I will have this gift forever. Very sentimental to me. Thank you Dr Forbes and staff.

We love Dr Forbes and her Staff!! We had to put down our Gracie (black Lab) yesterday. Gracie had bone cancer. Our family was/ is devasted as she was with us for 10 years. Dr Forbes and her Staff showed Gracie, my husband and I so much care and compassion during the euthanasia. They made sure Gracie had a calm, peaceful and loving environment. We use to see Dr Forbes in a BOCA Raton office. When she left there I was devistated and I did not know where to find her. My lab mix was diagnosed with heart worm. I again was devistated . I used my resources and found Dr Forbes. Thank goodness she treated my dog as if it was her own, unfortunately the treatment did not work but Dr Forbes would not give up. We started treating my dog again and we are in the middle of treatment and we are not giving up. I am a pest to the office with all my questions but the staff is always pleasant and very helpful. I would suggest going and seeing Dr Forbes for any of your pet needs. I travel from BOCA and I would travel further if I had to just to see her. She is the BEST.

We could not be more pleased with Dr. Forbes and her staff. They have been there so many times no matter when we needed an appointment. We left a large vet's office due to out pets (kids) were just a number and we could never get out of the office for under $200. Well we decided to go to a smaller office and we could not be more thrilled with South Shore. She allows us to bring all of our animals in at once for check up's and only charges for one office visit. We never had that anywhere else.
Dr Forbes listens to you and really works with you and your pet to figure out what is going on and make suggestions. He Dr who covers when she is off is also wonderful.
Any time I have asked for prices the staff always would advise me. Before any work was done on my babies they always would let us know the price.
We are so thankful that our babies have Dr Forbes and her staff.

I took my dog here for a follow-up visit. I was informed by the vet tech on his last visit, I would not be charged for a "re-check." After the follow-up, they charged me $40 dollars for eye drops they administered outside of the exam room. I was not aware they gave him eye drops, let alone I would be charged for it. At the very least, their staff needs to do a better job of informing customers of the costs ahead of time, especially since I was told there would be no charge. After reading other reviews on yelp, they are consistent with not being upfront about their prices. I had considered having Dr. Forbes as my vet for my other dog. After this experience, I will be going to another vet.

The office is very efficiently run with knowledgable staff. I am grateful they were able to fit in my small older dog on an emergency basis while I am here for the horse show. Dr. Forbes quickly and accurately diagnosed the problem as elevated liver enzymes and set about a series of confirmatory tests, medications and follow up. I am most thankful to have found such a friendly and skilled facility in Wellington. I highly recommend them.

I had a wonderful experience at South Shore Animal Hospital and with Dr. Forbes. The entire staff was welcoming and caring to me and my family when we thought we had to put our dog down, and even after when we realized she could be treated. They explain everything in terms that are easy to understand, they are caring, and the prices are very good for a Wellington vet. The office was clean and welcoming and definitely worth every penny. I plan to continue bringing all my animals to Dr. Forbes as long as her office is open in the area.

My experience at the South Shore Animal Hospital was the worse. I would not recommend this place to any one. I received a quote by phone for $34.00. I called and spoke to the only guy who work there he assured Me the price was accurate. I called again to ensure there was no Aditional price he assured me all is well. I gave my son my credit card to go and pick up the dog. When my son paid the price was double. I called to get he charges reverse the guy said nope the price stands. I had to call my bank to get the situation taken care of and even then the hospital refused to remove the charges. The guy was rude. When I call to speak to the doctor they hang up on me. The treatment was horrible. The price was not honored. Very rude staff

We use to see Dr Forbes in a BOCA Raton office. When she left there I was devistated and I did not know where to find her. My lab mix was diagnosed with heart worm. I again was devistated . I used my resources and found Dr Forbes. Thank goodness she treated my dog as if it was her own, unfortunately the treatment did not work but Dr Forbes would not give up. We started treating my dog again and we are in the middle of treatment and we are not giving up. I am a pest to the office with all my questions but the staff is always pleasant and very helpful. I would suggest going and seeing Dr Forbes for any of your pet needs. I travel from BOCA and I would travel further if I had to just to see her. She is the BEST.

My entire family has used Dr. Karen Forbes for years. I can tell you that's a lot of dogs and cats. She truly cares about our animals. She explains everything and answers all our questions. In the past she has had to put down some of our dogs. She was so loving you would have thought they were her dogs. My family can't say enough wonderful things about her, her hospital and her staff.

We could not be more pleased with Dr. Forbes and her staff. They have been there so many times no matter when we needed an appointment. We left a large vet's office due to out pets (kids) were just a number and we could never get out of the office for under $200. Well we decided to go to a smaller office and we could not be more thrilled with South Shore. She allows us to bring all of our animals in at once for check up's and only charges for one office visit. We never had that anywhere else.
Dr Forbes listens to you and really works with you and your pet to figure out what is going on and make suggestions. He Dr who covers when she is off is also wonderful.
Any time I have asked for prices the staff always would advise me. Before any work was done on my babies they always would let us know the price.
We are so thankful that our babies have Dr Forbes and her staff.

I took my dog here for a follow-up visit. I was informed by the vet tech on his last visit, I would not be charged for a "re-check." After the follow-up, they charged me $40 dollars for eye drops they administered outside of the exam room. I was not aware they gave him eye drops, let alone I would be charged for it. At the very least, their staff needs to do a better job of informing customers of the costs ahead of time, especially since I was told there would be no charge. After reading other reviews on yelp, they are consistent with not being upfront about their prices. I had considered having Dr. Forbes as my vet for my other dog. After this experience, I will be going to another vet.

South Shore Animal Hospital is simply the best! We've been going there for 5 years now, and we couldn't be happier with the care our little boy has received Dr. Forbes and her staff are absolutely amazing! Dr. Forbes is incredibly intelligent, truly cares about her patients and their humans, and always takes the time to talk to you about any questions or concerns that you have. I cannot say enough good about this place! After searching for vet who could actually figure out why my dog kept getting ear infections, we found South Shore. They were able to quickly figure out the cause and help get her treated. They are always able to get us in quickly. They are friendly and it is obvious that they love animals.

The office is very efficiently run with knowledgable staff. I am grateful they were able to fit in my small older dog on an emergency basis while I am here for the horse show. Dr. Forbes quickly and accurately diagnosed the problem as elevated liver enzymes and set about a series of confirmatory tests, medications and follow up. I am most thankful to have found such a friendly and skilled facility in Wellington. I highly recommend them.

I had a wonderful experience at South Shore Animal Hospital and with Dr. Forbes. The entire staff was welcoming and caring to me and my family when we thought we had to put our dog down, and even after when we realized she could be treated. They explain everything in terms that are easy to understand, they are caring, and the prices are very good for a Wellington vet. The office was clean and welcoming and definitely worth every penny. I plan to continue bringing all my animals to Dr. Forbes as long as her office is open in the area.

My experience at the South Shore Animal Hospital was the worse. I would not recommend this place to any one. I received a quote by phone for $34.00. I called and spoke to the only guy who work there he assured Me the price was accurate. I called again to ensure there was no Aditional price he assured me all is well. I gave my son my credit card to go and pick up the dog. When my son paid the price was double. I called to get he charges reverse the guy said nope the price stands. I had to call my bank to get the situation taken care of and even then the hospital refused to remove the charges. The guy was rude. When I call to speak to the doctor they hang up on me. The treatment was horrible. The price was not honored. Very rude staff
