Charged me a fortune, only for me to have to turn around and spend $500 the next day for an illness that was clearly present at El Cid, but they just ignored and said didn't exist. Then the AWFUL staff, tried to prevent my car from getting treatment at another vet when they called for her records. 5 months later and they refuse to stop stalking and harassing me. It's been two years since I have been to El Cid Animal Clinic and all of a sudden a collection agency started calling me about a measly $38 bill. I contacted El Cid and went in person to clear this up three times and each time the Office Manager was not able to get to me or was not there. I saw and met Dr. Poole for the first time since Dr. Garcia was on vacation and had a lovely experience. She was kind and informative and took care of his issues on the spot. One can only hope that the care given the animals far exceeds the terrible service owners receive from the desk staff and technicians. I concede that pay and available qualified candidates my limit the pool of quality personnel available, however, the present choices are woefully lacking in compassion, verbal skills and the basics of listening before just repeating the same answers. I suggest experimenting with high pay to access a better gene pool. I insisted the practice of requiring prepayment of the minimum of the most catastrophic results, in lieu of the prepayment of the most minor results, is not a true payment of a minimum. That statement got a response of “Huh? Let me check”. I was informed that the minimum of the maximum was necessary. So of course I prepaid the wrong amount in a process that doesn’t provide a receipt or a view of the payment you’re authorizing! I questioned the practice and was told, “That’s our system.” How could that possibly make it right? Of course, the minimum procedure was only necessary for my pet so I received a credit. I again had to sign an electronic pad that didn’t show the invoice I was signing. When all was done I received an invoice with a negative balance. I asked how I was going to receive an insurance payment for a negative balance. The response was, “It will be okay, that’s how our system works.” In what universe is that answer acceptable? I stated that I couldn’t imagine how an insurance company could pay on a confusing bill. I was told by the technician that, “We don’t never have no problems with insurance.” Of course my insurance company didn’t pay my claim showing a zero balance. Only after the denial and my explanation of the moronic practices of El Sol Animal Clinic was my claim reexamined and paid. The claim adjuster said he had never seen such a confusing statement. My dog, however, seemed satisfied even though desk staff forgot to give me her medications for which I was charged! Read Less

The doctor takes the time to explain everything in layman's terms. There's usually a wait time, but for the prices they offer, it is to be expected. You can tell the team loves animals. Also, if you're a customer, sometimes there's a photographer that comes in to take photos of pets. Vasi (the photographer) is INCREDIBLY gifted and also passionate. My best friend Wazoo has been seen by Dr. Xavier Garcia, DVM. Aproxamatly 7 times in the past 5 months for various problems, one of which several other vets had not been able to solve ( a chronic fungal infection in his paw) after isolating the pathogen a creative solution was found after some consideration and research by Dr. Garcia. I have found him to be a considerate, compassionate, and exceptionally competent the physician. Highly recommended. (I have worked as a veterinaria technician and am currently a surgical technician). I am extremely glad that I switched over to this clinic I wasn't getting the results that I wanted at my previously Vet until I switched over to Dr Garcia . Dr. Garcia's staff falls in love with every pet they take care of. Everyone in the clinic is a professional. They sit on the phone with me for over an hour every time I call. My puppy is a klutz and a bit accident prone.At 4 months old my pup tripped pulled a muscle in his leg. I freaked out and took him to a emergency clinic. The next day when I took him to El Cid Dr. Garcia walked me through all of the possibilities that could be at issue and FIRST suggested that I give him some rest. Dr. Garcia has NEVER recommended surgery as a first option and even the ONE time we contemplated surgery he opted to first take an x-ray to determine if it was absolutely necessary.On another occasion my pup was becoming sick from Ekubena, Blue Buffalo and other pet foods. Dr. Garcia recommended a veterinary food that turns out is PERFECT for my pup because he stopped having runny poops and throwing up bi weekly.Another good thing that sets Dr. Garcia apart from most animal clinics is that he does not make drugs for the pets in his facility or order them from pet meds.com. because a vet is NOT a pharmacist they should not make the drugs for the dogs on their own. Also pet meds occasionally sells expired medication that could harm your pet. Garcia works with two local pet compounding pharmacies to get medication that is fresh, safe and prepared by an expert, not a vet trying to increase profit margins.My mother recommended Dr. Garcia to me because she has been bringing her dog there for 2 years. I've been with Dr. Garcia for a little over a year and he and his staff are the most considerate and reasonably priced vet around. Also he insisted i sign up for pet insurance with covers 90% of the visits to his facility.El Cid is worth me driving past 20 vets from Delray Beach to West Palm to treat my pup.
