Brought my dog here several times trying to get a handle on his ear infections. After several visits and well over $1000 I got a grip on the infections. While they were not ever really going to go away (vet recommended surgery) I spoke to Dr. sharpe and let him know that my dog was really doing well with regular cleanings, grooming and weekly maintenance of medicine. I asked him for more Posatex (for maintenance) and he was glad to hear my dog was doing well and he said sure, come in and pick it up. I did. (Front desk staff is mostly nice, one woman not so friendly). However either way I picked it up and all was well. As I said I use it on a weekly basis. I went up north for a month and had a caretaker watching my dog. I didn't expect the caretaker to pick up the medicine. I found an online pharmacy that could deliver it directly to my door. I didn't understand their protocol on the prescriptions so I asked for clarification from Dr. sharpe. He called me and proceeded to tell me that he needs to see my dog every 6 months in order to fill this script. Please keep in mind, he NEVER mentioned this when I spoke to him prior (maybe a month or so before). He mentioned it was against the law for him to do this. (All in a smug and unfeeling tone, basically, too bad get someone in here to have a visit or you're SOL) Had he told me my dog needed to be seen every 6 months in order to fill this script I would've absolutely brought him in. So, now he wants me to have my caretaker come and bring my dog in to be seen and to get medicine. I am 100% sure the response from this vet clinic would be that "this is what he has to do by law" which I'm sure is true, however, I truly believe had I called and said I was coming in to pick up more medicine for "maintenance" as the front desk associate knew and used that term that that was what it was for, I don't think this would have been an issue. Obviously, I'll never know. They have an in-house pharmacy and I'm sure they don't want to lose business there. Either way, Dr. Sharpe does not come off to be a kind person and I really believe after this experience he is all about the dollar. I am a 48 year old woman with a 3 year old and a one year old and I have a 14 year old baby, my shih tzu and I am a very good, responsible dog owner. I am truly disappointed I was treated this way. Fortunately, I have secured a new vet who has come highly recommended. Healing Arts never was recommended. I simply stumbled upon them because they came up as an alternative vet medicine provider, however, they are not and don't claim to be. When I found that out I should've just said thank you and hung up the phone. Regardless, this was my experience. Read Less

This place is awful. I brought my 15 year old doggie which btw I brought from Costa Rica just a year ago. I was referred by a customer and I completely regret doing this. They found out the dog had kidney disease and arthritis among the rest of the things that a senior dog would develop. Bottom line is that I took him less than a month ago to get groomed and when I picked him up he was really dizzy and weird, within the next 2 weeks he started getting lost and going in circles nonstop, unable to lay down and lost 3 lbs within those 2 weeks!!! I took him Saturday to get checked because he was even hitting his head against the wall while going in the circles and even stumbled until he fell, I knew I had to let him go after 15 years, I decided to put him to sleep to free him from all the pain and neurogical problems. The doctor ONLY used ONE shot and everyone knows it requires TWO which includes a sedative specifically to help them not suffer and this guy didnt even take the time to sedate him first. My baby screamed in pain and then his head just dropped dead on the table with his eyes wide open. Listen I had this dog since I was 14 years old and he was my entire life! I have not been able to take this image out of my head and cry nonstop when I remember. Please do not take your pets here, they dont deserve to be treatbed like this! Now this place answers back to my review and seems like they were not there, he never lost consciousness, he was awake the whole time and the vocalization happened as soon as the liquid entered his body, I WAS THERE WITH MY FINACE and we saw the whole thing so Healing Arts: DON'T TELL ME THAT IT HAPPENED A CERTAIN WAY WHEN IT WAS NOT LIKE THAT!!! Bottom line is, you don't deserve to have access to pure animals when you don't even care about them just to make money because this placed is very overpriced, ask your clients and check your reviews!!! Absolutely amazing veterinarian! I called this morning and was given a call back shortly after with an emergency surgery I needed for my fur baby! He called me and gave me a price that was a quarter of what everywhere else was charging and he was so quick to clear his schedule to take care of my baby when I had never even been there before. She went in at 1:00pm and he called me at 2:00 pm to let me know how good she was doing and that everything went very well with the surgery. I will recommend this vet to EVERYONE! I am still amazed - the staff was great also! I will be forever going to this vet, this isn't a bunch of vets at one place not ever knowing who ur going to see, it's the same veterinarian every time u go in! Great prices and again the Veterinarian was just AMAZING! I can't say more great words for this man! Thank you all from the bottom of my heart u saved my baby! Read Less

Had some really bad experiences here. They were there for me in a crisis, but, in the end they were pretty mean to me about mistakes they made. Blamed me. Said I made it up that my cat came home with poop on her lil butt TWICE. If she can make it from 4am to 2 pm on a flight without pooping in her carrier, and, if she never has pooped in her carrier in the 12 years I’ve had her (typically taking 30 minutes to get to her old vet in Fairfax) I think she can make the 5 minute drive from this vet to my home without pooping. The doctor himself argued with me about it, told me neither time did it happen at his vet, told me it happened in the carrier the first time and that he didn’t believe it happened the second time, and told me to find a new vet. Plus the groomer cut her. The staff don’t communicate with each other well. And, they didn’t bother to tell me I needed to license her with the state when I moved here from Virginia—which could have saved me a penalty late fee. They say they care, and sure, I’m sure they do, but, I feel like they did not do their best for me. Read Less

Super nice people! My dog was very comfortable with everyone there and she really enjoyed the window for the puppy daycare to be able to interact with the dogs in there. They were quick with getting our information in their system since I was a first time customer of theirs. Once we got back in the room, the nurse (if that's what it's called in dog world) came in checking Rimee out doing their normal procedure and my dog felt so comfortable with her and with the vet. That is very comforting because my dog is a good judge of character and so knowing they are good, genuine people taking care of my dog makes me want to go back! Read Less

When I first moved to this area I needed a vet for my Pomeranian. I made the mistake of allowing them to pick my veterinarian since it's a husband and wife team. I have never had a worse experience in my life with any professional ! In any profession than this woman. You would think that I abused my dog after her third degree and frosty manner. Never again. Her husband, Dr Sharpe is another story all together. He is very laid back and fairly competent. I used to take my pet to the daycare here but the attendants don't play or stimulate the dogs. It was so soiled in the playroom I could not leave him. The dogs are all eager to go home. But for working owners , it's a good alternative to leaving a pet unattended all day. Read Less

UPDATE: This edit is in response to the clinic and their review is not factually accurate.I posted this review on 7/24 BEFORE Dr. Sharpe called which is why I never mentioned it. He called my cell so I have the exact date, time, and call duration. We did NOT have a "lengthy conversation"; he called me on 7/24 at 6:03 PM and it lasted 2 mins. Yes, he did prescribe her a new medication and I agreed. However, after the call, I told my husband what Dr. Sharpe stated and we decided we still wanted to find another clinic. The next day on 7/25 at 2:37 PM, I called the clinic and asked that the new medication Dr. Sharpe prescribe be cancelled and whoever I talked to just said they would. On 7/27 at 9:37 AM, Dr. Sharpe called me again and this time we had a lengthy conversation. I discussed with him my concerns and that I no longer wanted to bring my dog to his clinic. He apologized and I told him that I wasn't actually upset at him, it was his staff and I couldn't bring my dog to a clinic that showed no concern of her well-being. Everything was fine after I talked to him, I moved on from it and found a new vet clinic but now reading their response, it actually pisses me off even more. You want to talk about not being "factually accurate" read your own response. Do your job correctly and stop placing blame on someone else. There were never any messages left "multiple times" and never has there been "every attempt possible to effectively communicate with the client regarding her pet's medical care".******************************************************Like most pet parents, I researched a ton to find a good vet for my new adopted dog and came across this clinic. My poor girl had skin and anxiety issues. Dr. Sharpe was our vet and after explaining my concerns he stated she could have a thyroid problem or dry/itchy skin and suggested blood work, vitamin E supplements, and medication to help with the itching. There was no mention of any treatment for her anxiety. The vet tech stated she would call me the next day with the results even though it was a Saturday. Sat. and the following Mon. came and went and I never heard from them. I called them on both days and just kept being told they didn't have the results. On Tues. or Wed. I called and was told they had the results but Dr. Sharpe was going to call me personally. He did apologize for the delay and all her tests came back normal. I brought up her anxiety again and he suggested meds and stated that I shouldn't except any results for at least 6-8 weeks. So, 1 visit, blood work, and 2 meds cost me over $300.I've been giving her the anxiety meds but her behavior wasn't any different so on 7/13 I called the clinic and told them that Dr. Sharpe said wait 6-8 weeks and I should be close to that 8 week point but no improvement so I wanted to know what I should do. Whomever I spoke to, a female, said she would ask Dr. Sharpe and would call back. Got nothing. I called the next day, spoke to a male, explained again and he told me he would call me back. Again, nothing. On 7/18 I called the clinic once more, spoke to the same female from the first call, she told me she left me a voicemail and Dr. Sharpe said her medication would now take 3-4 months not the 6-8 weeks he initially told me. I asked her if there was no change after being on the meds for 2 months should I continue or try something else. She promised to call me before the end of the day. Guess what, it's now 7/24 and no one has called me.I never received a voicemail, I even went as far as contacting my cell phone carrier about receiving a call and there's no record. How in the world is a vet clinic so unprofessional and uncaring for the well-being of animals. I'm actually really pissed off about this whole situation and I'm not going to continue to hunt people down to get responses when they show no concern whatsoever in my dog. She's now done with her meds and I have no answers. I don't recommend this clinic to anyone, common curiosity should be a given especially when you have a concerned pet parent. Read Less

Healing arts veterinary is NOT so healing... I was bringing my dog in for her monthly grooming appointment and with this heat grooming was necessary this time of year. Instead of taking her back like usual I was taken to an examination room and was told that my dog needed 2 shots before her grooming appointment. I knew she was due for her shots by the end of the month but we were just approaching mid July. I told them I was aware but since she has had some medical issues and I have paid them close to a $1000.00 dollars in the last 21/2 months I wasn't financially able to do both the grooming and shots at this time but would definitely do the shots later on. That's when the told me basically, No shots no grooming, they had no compassion for me or for my dog who was in dire need of her grooming. They made it very clear to me that they only care about is the MONEY. Today, I took her to her new vet and the vet said she was in no danger of giving or receiving any diseases being in the 2 week zone of her shots expiring as I was told. Pet owners beware ! Read Less

My parents have been taking our dogs here for years, so whenever I am in the area and need to board my four-legged friend, I don't hesitate to bring him here! He loves it. Prices seem to be a little bit steeper than my own vet but not by much. I haven't gotten my dog groomed here but would definitely consider it. The building itself is both clean and spacious. Probably one of the nicest-looking veterinarian offices I have ever been to. I would definitely take my dog here if we lived in the area. Read Less

I boarded her here also about 3 times, and she had her own room and had doggie play time during the day. It was a comfort knowing she was in good hands while I was away on vacation. Sadly, at 13, after a sharp decline in her health, we had to make the horrible decision to put Lulu to sleep and out of pain. I wish I could give more than five stars. I've had the absolute best experience at Healing Arts with both of our pets. This is a first class veterinary clinic / boarding facility with incredibly reasonable prices. The veterinarians are also top notch individuals and have the experience to provide quality of treatment that both of our dogs have benefitted from over the recent years. For our family, cancer treatment was the verdict for our late dog Junior. I received second opinions from the renowned area experts and friends who are veterinarians as well. The recommendations and findings from second parties all paralleled the same finding and treatment protocol that Dr. Sharpe noted and prescribed. The whole experience solidified my trust in this guy. Whats more, the level of care and love that they provided to Junior was heartfelt, earnest, and comforting. For us, the emotional support that the entire staff provided to my family through such a mentally taxing life event was another solidifying factor in our relationship with Healing Arts. Honesty goes a long way for me when dealing with veterinary clinics and I wholeheartedly recommend Healing Arts if this has been a weighted concern with your existing vet. Lastly, boarding: super easy drop off and pick up, professional staff, and incredibly clean. The dogs actually have an area to play throughout the day and animals aren't left couped up in cages. I have never been treated so poorly before. After bringing my dog here for months and spending thousands of dollars on therapy, Dr. Sharpe exhibited the most unprofessional, uncompassionate, and uncaring attitude I have ever seen. He made changes to my dog's treatment plan without explaining to me why. I understand if changes need to be made, I just wanted to understand why and to express my concerns. The changes were not a discussion, they were an executive decision made by Dr. Sharpe. Dr. Sharpe made me feel that my concerns were not valid. He spoke to me in a condescending manner and embarrassed and upset me. I told him I felt very uncomfortable and that I will not be returning. He told me that I would not be doing what my dog needs and walked away. I was left standing there in tears feeling like I was letting my dog down. I would do anything for my dog and that includes finding a new therapy center than shows compassion, treats people with respect, communicates, and listens to concerns. I will not even get into the rudeness of the one front desk lady, billing problems, late appointments, and other follow up problems. I highly recommend finding an alternative vet center. Read Less

I am truly baffled by all of the positive reviews for this establishment which is why I feel it necessary to write my own. I went here specifically because of the reviews and had nothing but an awful experience with the doctor.  I will say that all of the other staff was nothing but wonderful and friendly.  he doctor however had no bedside manner and no understanding of what good service is. We brought our dog in because she was sick. We were promised test results the next day to tell us what was wrong. We never received a call after leaving multiple messages for him and being guaranteed a call before they closed. This happened, not once, but twice. (the only 2 times we ever took her here) He never had any idea of the information in our dogs chart. He almost prescribed her medication twice within a 1 week period but we notified him that not only had he already prescribed it but we had already picked it up. We brought in an OTC spray we got for our dog for him to look at and he wouldn't even bother looking at the bottle. He never showed any interest in us or our pet.  Being a vet, I would have thought he would understand that every pet is part of someones family. They are a child to that person. When a persons pet is sick, their owners are so worried because a pet can't express what is wrong and it breaks our hearts. Every pet owner just wants a vet who cares for our pets and wants to help them. Who has a gentle hand, a gentle voice and compassion. Someone who, at the very least, makes sure to hold true to their word and help our pets get better. We want someone we can count on when a member of our family needs help the most. I don't think that is too much to ask for considering that this is a vets job.  We are obviously never returning to this vet and we will never recommend this place to anyone. I just hope that my review will help someone avoid this hassle in the future.  We are now tasked with taking our dog to a new vet to have them rerun the same tests we have already paid for. My overall experience was so upsetting and I do not wish this on any pet owner.****UPDATE****I am adding this section of my review after reading the response from this vet.  In my original review I did not want to go into exact details but now I feel that it is necessary.  I am going to hit all of the points of their response one at a time.  1. During our initial visit, we were told we would receive a call from the vet the next day by 1pm because all test results come in by 11am. We received no call so we started to call the vet at 3pm. We were told that he would be left a message but we were guaranteed a call by the end of the business day. The end of business day came and went and we still never received a call. I left an angry message after closing and only received a call back after my message was picked up. The doctor was vague when we spoke. We were told she had crystals in her urine and she needed antibiotic and a special food. We picked up the food and medication the next day and kept her on the strict regiment that was instructed.2. We brought her back after a month to recheck her urine levels. Again we were told we would here back the next day before the end of business. Once again, we never heard back. We called again after business hours and luckily someone was still there. We were initially told that no one was there to give us the results and we would get a call tomorrow. I got angry and was then put on hold only to find out that the doctor was actually still there. We discussed the results briefly and we were NOT told that there were improvements from her initial results. We were told that she STILL had crystals in her urine and we just needed to keep her on the diet and have her tested again in another month. We were definitely following the diet that was set out for her. He asked if we were also giving her treats, which we were, because we were NEVER told not in the first place.3. We took her to a new vet because we did not trust what this doctor was telling us. We did have all of the results forwarded from her original testing but luckily the new vet ran her urine again. She had no more crystals in her urine at all. HOWEVER, she did have a severe bacterial infection that was so obvious that our new vet asked "if our precious vet even looked". Our poor dog was in severe pain because this vet was too incompetent to diagnose her properly.  Had he taken the time and effort to examine her properly, he would have seen her infection and diagnosed her correctly the first time.  For someone who claims to care for animals like family, it is beyond upsetting to know that our child was in severe pain and would have continued to be in severe pain had we trusted this vets diagnosis.  After getting her properly diagnosed by a new vet, she is showing major improvements and starting to heal.  I would never look to hurt someones business but we put trust in this vet and our pet was not treated properly. Best vet I've found since moving here.  The people here are so patient and friendly, from the desk staff, to the vet techs, to the Dr himself.  I had a lot of questions and concerns and everyone I spoke to took the time to listen.  I truly felt like they had my dogs best interests in mind. They also offer boarding, which I will be utilizing in the near future.  It's a calmer environment than most boarding places I've visited.  They keep the rooms in small groups and allow you to bring any toys or blankets to make your pup feel more comfortable.  I'm so glad I found this place.  I feel much better knowing that my dog will be in good hands. My dog absolutely loves the vet, and this one is no exception! Everyone is so friendly and welcoming and it always seems like they really enjoy their jobs. Read Less

I was hoping to avoid my search for a vet in Florida for a little while because I really really loved my vet in CT and trusted him completely after going through a few bad ones. I walked into this vet and immediately thought "Oh shit, they're gonna charge me an arm and a leg" because their waiting area is gorgeous (They have waterfalls) Anyway, I had no choice but to stay because my dog was severely limping (She had ACL surgery back in March) Everyone was pretty awesome here from the people at the desk, to the techs and Dr Sharpe. He got right on the ground with my baby to check her leg. I was on pins and needles just waiting to hear the words "She's going to need another surgery" Instead, he told me her leg was inflamed and suggested using their rehab facility to help strengthen her leg. I braced myself again waiting for a number in the thousands for this option. Again, I was pleasantly surprised. $75 per session twice a week for a month. Not bad. Better than $6,000 for another surgery. I went home with 2 medications for her plus they performed a laser treatment on her leg to help with the soreness. All of that plus the office visit only came to $130. I think I found my new vet for my 3 fur babies! She'll be going again this Thursday for her first underwater treadmill treatment. Read Less

From the first phone conversation to the last goodbye, the staff at Healing ARTS was so friendly and helpful. My own doctor's office could take some pointers from these folks! I have been to many kennels with my dogs and have never been in one that was so clean and friendly. They offer either traditional or their uber posh suites. Unlike a lot of kennels, they actually play with your pets and give them lots of lap time too! Another thing that set my mind at ease was that there is a veterinarian on the premises should anything happen to my little guy while he is there. I was asked if I wanted him exercised on the underwater treadmill or even the current pool while he was there. They groomed him and had him squeaky clean when I picked him up. Heck, they even practiced with him on his obedience commands while he was there. Their behaviorist is awesome and gave me great pointers on stopping some bad habits I had let him develop. I will never go anywhere else and would highly recommend them! Read Less

While the vet tech and veterinarian were great and allowed Lulu to go peacefully, I really cannot say enough about the office manager David who was so nice and caring and really took care of me and Lulu.
