I've had my Lanie girl for 11 years now.  She's never been sick so I just take her to Dr. Durkee for her annual visit and vaccines.  Yesterday was different.  I had an emergency with Lanie so I called Dr. Durkee's emergency phone number.  She answered (I was so relieved).  I told her I was parked outside her office waiting to get Lanie in (it was before office hours).  She said she'd be there shortly and Lanie was taken into a waiting room immediately.  Within minutes, Dr. Durkee was there evaluating Lanie.  She said she had HGE and would need to be treated with IV and meds.  Lanie stayed overnight with continued IV treatment and she came home this morning.  She's doing much better!  I am so THANKFUL to Dr. Durkee and her great staff (yes I called probably every 3 hours to see how Lanie was doing).  You really don't know how wonderful a vet and staff are until there is an emergency.  I know now!  Thank you, Dr. Durkee and staff! Was new to the area as I relocated from Tampa so I'm always a bit hesitant about starting a new business relationships. I saw the reviews here and I felt confident to give it a try. The doctor was great and you can tell that she and the entire staff all really care about the animals. Great place to go is totally reasonable prices. Prior to this I was with Banfield and with that monthly plan, I would have spent $600 a year for just basic updates however I was able to cut that price basically by more than half and still get three years of coverage with his shots rather than one year and then having to return for another office visit. The technician Ashleigh needs to be fired!!! How do you go and do test on a dog the owner did not agree too? And not even in one way look at the problem I initially brought my dog in for but fine every other way possible to get money outta me even without consent!!You confirm something being done to another animal that's going to come out of their pocket not go and do it because the dr recommended it!! I came to this place about a year ago and brought my two dogs (at the time) there and they were great.Today I brought my dog buddy to get looked at because he kept yelping last week and I wanted to see what was wrong, finally I figured out the problem before the doctor even walked in. I did the rabies shot and stool testing for parasites. My dog also is a little over weight because he is lazy and sleeps all day long because I am working or In school everyday. They recommend a thyroid test. I made it clear I really didn't have the money for it. The technician takes him to do all his shots and stuff comes Back and once again she told me the doctor really recommends you to get a thyroid test I say okay (meaning u said this once it's still same response) normally a technician should turn around and confirm so would u like me to do it? But no she walks out and does it without a consent. Before all this she also shows no compassion or care in the world of what I brought him here for she's concerned about his itching. Yes he itches when the cold weather comes and bites by his tail causing red marks. It is not fleas it's very dry skin from the cold. How do I know this bevause the same doctor I'm seeing told me along with 3 others in the past. She was so concerned about doing blood test than examining the inflamed area that was causing him to yelp.To the point it's not fuckin right that u go and do a test without any consent from the owner. $400 later I had to pay for something I DID NOT WANT DONE.I will never go back not only because of the technician scamming me money but the fact that the doctor and tech were so hooked on doing all this other stuff for my dog than what I even came there for in the first place and also didn't even acknowledge me or explain anything just told me what they were gonna go and did it didn't explain and ask if it's okay since I'm the one paying.I spent all this money and still have no answer to why I went there.I mean seriously what am I supposed to do when I never agreed to a test but it's already been done? Tell them no and not pay I mean if my dog wasn't pulling my arm trying to get out then I would still be there arguing but it's not right and that technician needs to learn some better skills at customer service and respect for the customer. And the front desk lady needs to lose her attitude and the way she looks at u when u deny meds my dog doesn't even need I will never go back here. I would never recommend this place ever. I am new to WPB and my 9 year old dog was showing signs of dental decay . Despite brushing his teeth,he had alot of plaque. I took him to a vet in WPB and made an appointment for him.Something in my gut just didn't feel right at this other vet so I decided to get a 2nd opinion. Kelcie ,the vet tech was the first to examine my dog. She put my dog at ease as she examined him. I was impressed with how knowledgeable she was . Dr.Durkee then came into the exam room.She clearly loves animals,but beyond that she explained the drugs that would be used for anesthesia. Wow,was this eye opening. The other vet was going to use a drug used in humans that is very potent.Dr.Durkee  and Kelsie explained how the procedure and  anesthesia would be done and administered. They assured me my dog would be very  awake  when I picked him up. He was ! He had 6 extractions and a cleaning. His first night was clearly uncomfortable,but the next day he was so much better.I have to say it is now 3 days since the extractions . He is eating dry food ,chicken and  playing  as if nothing happened. I was terrified of the anesthesia ....not all vets use the same drugs. I am writing this because I love my pets and if you love yours, take them here. They are compassionate,skilled, and take an approach to drug use and prescription to eliminate as much risk as possible. Read Less

She's taken care of my pup now for two years, and I don't worry when he's there with her and her team! welli have been going here for about 10 yrs ,, on wednesday i called up to make a point to have my dog nail cut ,, they said that my dog needed some other stuff done , i agreed to have the work done , but i always drop off my dog and came back to pick them up at the end of the day,, i am a busy person and love that fact they do that,  but when i was talking to the person that make the appointment she said that i must pay for a kennel cough shot,, i said no my dog does not say in a kennel ,,  they said ok ,, the next day i went there , i saw told i must say   there and not drop off my dog,, unless i pay for a kennel cough shot,, the waiting room is now bigger and has stuff for you to bay ,, this place is not the same ,, i feel it's all about to sell you stuff that your pet does not need ,,,, stay away ,, Read Less

I have taken my little spoiled Maggi mai (Miniature Schnauzer) to Dr. Michele Durkee for many years (10 to be exact) and I always feel confident in the care she gets. Michele is kind, considerate and very knowledgeable. When Maggi was just a few months old, Michele noticed a slight abnormality in her eyes and referred me to the Eye Specialty Clinic where we discovered that she had puppy cataracts which had to be monitored and finally needed surgery when Maggi was 7 yrs old. I feel this saved Maggi's sight and I thank Dr Michele Durkee for being on top of this when it wasn't even noticeable to the naked eye. The staff is wonderful and as caring as Michele. I have NEVER found a vet that could be described as more genius, compassionate, understanding, and honest like Dr. Durkee. If it's an emergency to where the ER may not be agreeable with what you feel is right, you can even call her on an emergency basis and she will call right back. She is an amazing individual not just for her social skills but for her compassion and love towards what she does. I have never met a veterinarian like her and I was devastated when I had to move and find a new vet. As promised if I had any questions she said I could always call her and ask, and I did so and she is still helping me to this day on an extremely rapid way I may add. Her staff is also amazing, everyone is lovely there and everyone is so caring. I recommend this animal clinic more than I recommen any other in my life. Used to go to Banfield for my dog, however I wanted to look for somewhere where I could get some more personal care for him. Tried out Dr. Durkee because of good reviews and was impressed. She takes time with your dog and does a great job. Plus, I love that you get to see everything they do to your dog. She went above and beyond on our first visit. My dog got sick late in the evening from vaccines. I called and she was able to give him some medicine at 9pm at night. That truly solidified her as my dog's vet. She is awesome! Read Less

I am so impressed with the care my dog, Harley just got at West Palm Animal Clinic! From start to finish I felt comfortable there. The receptionist was so nice and Bethany, the technician was so knowledgeable, kiind and personable. We have been going to Dr. Durkee since we got our dog (for the past 2 years). When we adopted our dog she had very stained teeth. Since then we've been brushing her teeth every night but they were still very yellowish/ brownish. Well we just had her teeth cleaned and we wish we had a before and after picture. Dr. Durkee and her staff are outstanding!  I was referred to her for a post op visit a few years ago after my cat had hip surgery from a specialist in Deerfield.  Since then, we go to her for all our visits. She and her staff go up and beyond to explain everything in detail especially to a nervous Mom like me.  They are so patient and kind to me and my pets.  Very clean and a great facility with modern equipment. Over the top  amazing vet and same goes for tech Kelly. I have been to numerous vets since adopting my dog recently. Some places were very fancy with exorbitant fees . Some had vets who were on the cold side. Some vets charge for every little thing done, like $20 to cut a few nails. Dr. Michelle Durkee, hands down is the most genuine,  down to earth , kind vet I have met so far. Her fees are less than anyone around.
