Here is the only positive to this place, the dentist is nice and very friendly but it won't make for the rest of it because the rest of your experience will be HORRIBLE. I waited almost 2 hours for my appointment ( which seems incredible since it was supposed to be at 8:30) yet they will never tell you how much longer it will be or for that matter even acknowledge you. (They did this to every person waiting) For the cost for dental care, i could have bought a nice used car, no exaggeration. I almost died when they told me what it cost.  Then they told me to pick up my pet at 5 (i was driving from West Palm). I got there at 5 and I was still waiting there at 7. No explanation.  I waited 45 minutes then had to repeatedly ask why it was taking so long, since they were the ones who told me to be there at 5. No answers. Just 5 workers sitting at the front desk, none of whom apparently had the ability to go in the back and see what was going on.  Then i actually had to ASK for an itemized bill. Who doesn't provide that??????  Tomorrow i will be calling my vet and screaming at them for recommending this place. Read Less

Worth the wait? I think not. After several visits to Hometown Animal Hospital, I refuse to be left in the waiting room for over an hour or more past my scheduled appointment time. This has been the case since day one. Today will be the last. I don't care how great the doctor is, it's not worth the stress and aggravation of loading up your pet and then sitting in a waiting room full of other dogs, trying to keep your pup calm or entertained. It's an unrealistic expectation. My advice to Hometown - call your patients ahead of time and notify them that the doctor is running behind, or you had an emergency, and give them the choice as to whether they want to wait or reschedule. Even if we are there already waiting - for and hour and 45 minutes - just give patients a heads up. I would have gladly rescheduled and went home instead of walking out frustrated. This seems to be a pattern, no matter what day of the week it is, and now you have lost a patient and any possibility of a referral. I hope this will prompt you to make changes. Read Less

When I run into a staff that gives me a 5 star experience, I take names!! We were greeted by the lovely ladies at the front desk Patricia and Kerstin! They were so friendly and our puppy just loved them!!  Olivia was an absolute pro with our pup when it was time to go back and get weighed and examined. She also made sure we were well informed of our options for pet insurance. Dr. Elizabeth was wonderful as well. Our little guy had a small stomach bug, but the doctor had his medicine out in no time! Jocelyn gave us some very helpful tips to spruce up our puppy's food so he can enjoy his entire serving. Overall great experience!! I would recommend Hometown Animal Hospital over and over again! Hometown is the best! Our dog has been going there her whole life- she will be 11 this month. She has had many medical issues including seizures, bladder stones, dental issues, kidney issues, and spinal issues. They have always been compassionate, kind, helpful and have treated her very well. By far the best vets I have ever experienced for a pet. The staff is super friendly & knowledgeable. The facility decor is inviting , warm and cozy. The entire place inside and out is very clean, yesterday I observed one of the staff often bringing out a fresh clean water bowl for thirsty patients waiting for an appointment. So far I have met two doctors & they're both awesome to our Hershey & they shake our hand when they enter the room and before they leave. I would never want our pooch seeing any other vet. The first time I walked into this practice I was so comfortable with the staff and the compassion they exhibit. EXPENSIVE. Long wait times. Vet seems rushed to get you out of the room (may have been because I declined a $4000 procedure). Front office staff call for follow up, but when I call back they don't see any follow up needed. They called my husband about a dog that isn't ours. Requested my dogs records several times, but nothing has ever been sent to me. I've been to several vets as I have a senior dog. I would not recommend going here. As a physician, I was impressed by the professional office staff, clean environment, but most importantly exceptional medical attention. Dr. Jan Bellows saved my dog from being euthanized. After visiting multiple vets who refused to touch the oral cancer (maxillary osteosarcoma) that had aggressively invaded my dogs mouth, he not only skillfully removed the mass but did such an aesthetically amazing job! You cannot tell that she is missing a third of her top jaw! She has a new lease on life and loving it, 6 months and counting. I’m thankful that I found this Vet. The Dr. gets right to the point and educates you on your pet. I brought my puppy in and it’s been nothing but positive experiences. The staff gets an A++++++! Good stuff. I went there for dog care after trying out their dental services. I have a separate review for their dental work listed under All Pets Dental. I like how they're not afraid to recommend all the diagnostics necessary to better understand the present condition. I don't like to play the guessing game with medicine. As long as I can afford a medical treatment, I'm game. I'm using this place for any advanced or complicated condition my dog may get. They have a lot of equipment at their disposal that some of the smaller hospitals don't. Because of this, having such equipment in their immediate grasp means it's going to get some use. A vet without such instruments might not be as inclined to immediately use such equipment, since it's out of their standard operating procedural reach. In this day and age, equipment really matters. And, the doctors are knowledgeable. A bit expensive, but that's sometimes the trade-off for access to such a maintained and well staffed facility. Read Less

We love Hometown Animal Hospital! We were referred to Dr. Bellows' office for some dental consult and work by our vet at VCA Rock Creek. We took our first pup, Pete, to the office and met with Dr. Elizabeth McMorran and she is the absolute best!!! She instantly loves your pet and gives them the best attention and care. She is passionate about what she does and makes sure to explain and calm the very anxious helicopter parents (guilty). Dr. Elizabeth was recommended by our regular vet after our 7 yr old rescue cat was having a sneezing attack which would lead to a nose bleed. Took my dog in for dental. He presents me with a fancy presentation with 10x10 gloss pictures of his teeth and patiently explained everything then tells me it'll be SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS for some extractions. I tell him I must think about it because it's a lot of money and he then becomes, rude and impatient because I must make up my mind immediately because my dog is under anesthesia. My 10 year old beautiful tabby , Sunshine had a horrible disease called feline resort lesions. This condition required her to have major dental surgery . My local vet recommended I take Sunshine down to Weston to have Dr Bellows perform this surgery Dr Jan Bellows is by far one of the most professional and compassionate Doctors I have ever met. Besides performing a meticulous and difficult surgery, he was warm and caring throughout. This man gave me his cell phone # to call any time of day or night. When I did need to call him,, he answered on 2 rings . He answered my questions and never sounded annoyed or bothered. His staff, especially my favorite tech , Gabby ,were there for me and Sunshine every time we walked into the office or called. emergency visit - We took Winter to an emergency visit and saw Dr. David Bellows...we left with great relief. Winter had to get all his teeth extracted due to an infection. I normally don't leave reviews but feel that I must this time. I absolutely love the team at HomeTown because they treat my babies with so much love. I live 25 miles from here and I've tried switching vets because of the distance but nobody compares to them. They are professional, kind, caring, loving and genuinely concerned with your babies health. There is always follow up calls to find out how they are doing. In one occasion, Dr Zapata gave me her personal number in case I had any questions while I was home with my very ill dog. She followed up with me numerous times as she knew I was very worried about him. What else can one ask for? Yes, they can be a little pricey from time to time but it's only because they need to figure out the root of the problem. As we all know, animals can't speak so in order to figure out what's wrong, numerous tests must be performed. In my many experiences at Hometown, they have always given me an estimate before performing any procedure or test. I read over it, discuss whether all tests are necessary with the Dr., and approve what I want done. I recommend communicating with them and inquiring about other options if you feel the cost is too high. Thank you Hometown for always taking care of my fur babies. I am extremely disappointed at this place, I took my 14 year old boxer and as far as I can recall he was in better shape before going to see them compared to when he was given back to me the same day. He came back home under a lot of stress, and stopped eating completely, and had an unstoppable diarrhea, which he didn't have before. Multiple x-rays were taken with no definite diagnosis. I just saw my dog going downhill quickly. I called this place again informing them that my dog couldn't suffer anymore and I wanted someone to reach out to me. After THREE hours anxiously waiting, I decided to take my dog to another clinic. I left a message informing them that I was going to take care of my dog by taking him to be put to sleep. Love, love, love! We found Dr. Bellows by accident, my little cat Lucy was having tooth troubles. Turns out Dr. Bellows is an expert in veterinary dentistry - good thing, both of my cats had problem teeth. The teeth were treated but, more bad news... sadly, they both were diagnosed with advanced stage kidney disease... most research says that kidney disease can't be cured. Well... three years later and both of my cats are within normal range through diet modification and monitoring! It's a miracle! The staff is very patient and caring, and we love the docs. Their lack of transparency of the prices, especially before taking my dog out of my possession, made me feel very uncomfortable and pressured. I called to get an estimate on the price of a dental cleaning for my dog. They said that it depends on the condition of my dogs teeth and I needed to come in for a consultation. They did not mention that the consultation would cost $135.25 for them to check my dogs heart rate, ask me about my dog, and take some pictures on their iPhone of my dogs teeth. They took my dog into the back and gave us a bill of $1377.38, and that's with no complications and without getting any teeth pulled! Latest review: 5/11/2016 I think this is the most heartfelt and well-deserved review I ever done in my life. We owe Dr. David and this hospital the life of my beautiful puppy, Bowie. Each and every person in this place is the most wonderful person you'll ever meet. Really. When you are in the waiting room, watching every person of the staff working - now that I kind of know them all -, they all have so many beautiful virtues. You observe them and you are in awe. They are right there with their hearts pouring and exposed all the time for you. They really love each and every animal that enters through that door, they know them by name and they remember everything of you. It's like arriving to your Christmas family dinner :). Dr. David has been an angel to us. He is a gem, full of brightness, intelligence, uniqueness. He has been there in the good and in the bad ones, right there next to us answering every list of questions we bring to our visits, with a big smile in his face, and extending his wise hand in every health problem our dog have had. I cannot explain in words how thankful we are to have found him. Do you remember those moments in life when you just know when your loved one is in the best hands, and you rest assure that whatever they say or decide, IT IS right, accurate and supported by the deepest point of view in science you can get in terms of knowledge? That, makes you breathe in peace, relieved, happy, secure, specially as a dog parent where things get a little bit difficult to interpret (since dogs cannot talk!) That's Dr David for us. He follows his instincts, he acts, he educates us, he loves our dog as much as we do, he calls us and replies to us and... he is so THERE; caring and loving, and as smart as you can get, since day #1. He always, always, goes the extra mile, and you leave his office so fulfilled. Our puppy caught a bad and hard to detect virus, and Bowie felt very ill. The way Dr. David analyzed, interpreted, advised and helped him throughout, was admirable. That cannot be bought, that is a gift. That's why every person that chooses Hometown is lucky; actually, FULL of luck just because their pet is going to be taken care of by someone like him, or by any of the wonderful doctors in this hospital. My husband and I are grateful beyond words for the life that emerges from this place, and the love they are willing to give. Our world and Bowie's world is a better one because of them. In regards to the hospital per se, they are incredibly organized, is beautiful and super clean, and they never forget a thing, really. Every follow-up happens, every call needed happens, every medicine refill or routine meds happen and is remembered, they even help you fill out claims for the insurance so you don't have to do it and feel insecure. TOTAL MALPRACTICE & EVERY VET AGREES! Brought my cat in received treatment that was contraindicated (found out later). Never ran blood work which would of caught the real problem my cat was suffering. Now it's escalated to the point he has to be admitted for Iv antibiotics and blood transfusions for something a simple blood test would of likely found and a course of abtibiotics, alleviated the issue. Now going unresolved and unrecognized by not providing a standard for care that is the first action almost any other vet would take just like a hospital with a patient with complaint and an unknown etiology of symptoms. Blood work is the markers for all the clues as to what's going on in the body and leads the way to diagnosis and recognizes life threats. Thankfully a local vet did his job well and ran blood work first. What we found was such severe Infection and anemia my cat is lucky to see Monday even with Iv antibiotics and transfusions. Will be reported to the board of Medicine and a lawsuit on the way....but nothing can make up for the loss of my cats life. It can be really hard to get into their office so my veterinarian of all people recommended All Pets Dental to me. I heard my dog crying one morning, and he is a tough boy so I know he was hurting. I had been giving my dog these raw hide chews that were destroying his back teeth. The enamel was completely gone and I would have never known! I called All Pets and they got us in that day, they repaired the fractured teeth and made me promise to never give him raw hide again (I guess it is really bad for their stomach too). Read Less
