We are incredibly disappointed and appalled by the level of service, lack of care and empathy we have received from this practice. Our dog who has been going to them for a while and although 13 has been healthy. He started with and eye issue that after several wrong guesses and prescriptions we were refered to an eye specialist. The specialist was able to pin point the issue and surgery was recommended. We opted to come back to WGAH to perform it because we trusted them. Looking back what a MISTAKE. Our dog was cleared for a double surgery. Eye removal and kidney stones removal. We asked if they believed he was healthy enough to endure this due to his age. They assured us he was. After surgery he could not stop panting, he was not eating and barely drinking. When we voiced our concerns, we were dismissed with we are puzzled it could be his age, pain or anxiety. They pumped him with medications that I mentioned was making the panting worse. They dismissed it and one of techs even said he was breathing heavy during surgery as well. They kept him for observation mind you all this within a week. They did NOTHING. My husband went in to speak to them to see what could be done. Bringing him in for a drop off apt on Monday was suggested. We took it upon ourselves to take him to the emergency vet that evening on a Friday in order to obtain a second opinion. Our poor dog could not get comfortable from all that panting. It took the emergency vet one look at him in order to realize it was either a heart or lung issue not pain related or anxiety. This was confirmed after being on oxygen cage and taking an X-rays. It turns out our sweet boy was suffering from heart failure. His traquea was pushed up by the swollen heart and fluid buildup. The outcome of our dog may have been the same in the end (euthanasia) however if his panting had been diagnosed sooner as heart failure he would have suffered less. To top it off we wrote to the practice over the weekend to let them know what had happened. The response we received was NOTHING. We called Monday and requested a copy of all our dogs medical records. We were not surprised seeing that they are so incompetent and uncaring that we received the X-rays for another dog that is not ours. When we acknowledged this we were told that HIPPA laws do not apply to pets and sorry for the miscommunication. Furthermore the records reflect the wrong bread an color for two of our dogs. The attention to detail and empathy is simply not there. The vets to include the office manager Kelly Hampton were all unresponsive and never once offered their condolences. The only person that showed compassion was Missy at the front desk. Something we made sure to bring up and recognize. We will be taking our business elsewhere. Please beware of this practice. Your little ones will be just a number to them. Read Less

It has been such a long time since I've experienced customer service of this caliber. The folks at reception remember me and my pets by name, and they extend this same effort and kindness to every customer interaction I've ever witnessed... which is many, because they always seem busy (no doubt because the other customers appreciate the service as much as I do!). It's rare to feel so seen and respected. The veterinary service is also top notch: the doctors take care of their patients and provide as clean and relaxing of an atmosphere, and as thorough of care, as possible. Last year when I had a cat with serious kidney issues, they got her in to see the doctor quickly, and they referred me to another top notch facility when my cat required services beyond their technical capacity. If that's not enough, at least treat yourself to a chuckle off the cute animal puns from the sign out front. Overall, WGAH is a superb business! Read Less

My family has used Winter Garden Animal Hospital since I was a little girl a LONG time ago when Dr. Miller owned it, and they have saved countless furry members of our family. On the flip side, each and every vet who had to give us the terrible news that one could not be saved did so with the utmost compassion and respect for our babies, and yes, they have cried with us many times. I would not take my animals anywhere else. Yes, perhaps they are a bit more expensive than some of the other local vets, but remember, you get what you pay for, and since my entire family feels like our critters are just beautiful souls in dog or cat suits, why wouldn't we get the best care possible care for them just like any other family member? We especially love Dr. Prather because she went many extra miles to save our beloved Mousie (the cat) when everyone else had given up, and she has saved our Max at least 3 times and now he's going strong at over 14 years old. We would give WGAH 10 stars if we could! Read Less

I came here a few months back to look into boarding my two dogs here, when I came in and got the tour the area that the dogs are kept in I was shocked. It is completely run down in that room and does not look one bit pleasant. Everything is chipping the floor, the wood that is in-between the dogs cages, even the walls are all chipped apart. The cages that the dogs stay in are rusty and are all bent out of shape. It looks like they keep the room organized but it just needs to be updated and kept to a better standard for our pets. I definitely am not bringing my dogs here and urge other people to take a look for yourself and you will feel the same way! Read Less

We had 4 kitties when we lived in Winter Garden and started to visit this practice in 2006. Dr. Miller is an excellent vet and we liked this practice very much. On July 7, 2011 we trapped a feral cat in Stoneybrook West that had been roaming our neighborhood for over a year. It was very fearful of humans. I had called our vet letting them know we wanted to trap a feral and would like to bring her (Sox) in to be fixed, micro chipped and tested for any diseases. We were able to trap her and Dr. Prather is the vet that treated Sox. When we brought Sox home that evening, Sox had a cone on her head. The cone was bothering Sox so bad and since she was a feral it was obvious she was so afraid. The next day we called the vet to have the cone removed which they did.  We were in the room with Sox and Dr. Miller was holding Sox down with a tech and Dr. Miller commented on what a clean surgical cut was made by Dr. Prather and sewed up so neatly. Sox recovered nicely and now over 6 yrs later, living in Las Vegas Sox is one of the girls. We traveled out west in Dec. '11 and Sox and the other kitties traveled so well. Sox is no longer afraid of us and is really a sweet natured cat. We know she had a lot of hard times a feral but she has a forever home now. Just wanted to let people know that this practice is a very good one.  Thank you Read Less

My husband and I were strangers when we arrived at Winter Garden Animal Hospital on October 19th with our beloved Bailey. She received a booster to her flu shot that was administered at her home vet in Illinois. We couldn't have been happier with the friendliness and professionalism of the ENTIRE staff. We said goodbye and expected to return to Illinois with Bailey to celebrate her 13th year with us! Sadly we returned 12 days later for the devastating news that we were going to have to let her go. We cannot say enough about the care and comfort we as a family of 3....Randy myself and Bailey received. She crossed the Rainbow Bridge that morning and we were a wreck! Dr. Prather and his staff and his staff rose to the occasion....we were guided through every step of the diagnosis with compassion, accuracy and an astonishingly accurate reading of our love and devotion for Bailey. We will return shortly to Illinois but I can say with absolute certainty that anyone who chooses to bring one of their four-legged family to WGAH will not be disappointed. I just want to inform everyone on how neglectful this place is. My mom has been coming here for ages and my dog, McGee, has separation anxiety so we thought boarding all three of our dogs would be okay together. My dog was checked by his vet earlier in the week. We went out of town Friday, September 16 and boarded them through this afternoon. No calls, everything's good. Upon checkout, I was told my dog had an overbite which I am aware of. When the technician brought him out he looked like he had mud or shit on his face which immediately made a flag go up since we were told they were given baths this morning. When I asked the technician to wipe it off, I then noticed that this wasn't dirt, it was dried blood and pus from a wound. They took him back to have a doctor check him. The technician told me that McGee didn't listen and was wandering in the rain and the vet said it was an infection from wet hair getting matted and infected. Beyond the many questions I have past this, they were going to release my dog to me WITHOUT even saying anything. I have an actual appointment with my vet tomorrow and pending what she says, potential legal action will be taken. I never thought in a million years an animal hospital would not be able to take care of an animal and quite frankly the condition he was returned in and how he was returned; I am not sure why anyone would trust their babies with this place.Read Less

Meh! It seems to me always a hassle here.My daughter was a animal science major and pre-vet so we can pre-diagnose many problems. Recently the dog woke up with a red smelly ear, an obvious ear infection. They couldn't see him for three days because of no appointments. In my opinion, a good doctor/vet would make time for a patient instead of letting them be in pain. Said they would call back after talking to vet but never did (returning phone calls is a pet peeve of mine).Mostly what I don't care for is that they take the animals in the back, out of sight,  to do whatever needs to be done. I want everything to be above board. Always see a Tech and the vet comes in for 5 minutes. This was never like this with our vet in New Jersey (plus they are more expensive than our vet in NJ).  In my opinion they are efficient, qualified and care for the animals but I feel this is run more like a business than a vet office. We will be looking for a new vet. I can't say enough about the staff, they truly make you and your pet feel loved every visit. They are super friendly, make you feel like family, and I have noticed over the years that they have a very low turnover rate when it comes to their staff, they all seem to stay for a long time.My family has been bringing their animals here for years and when I adopted my first dog a little over a year ago there was no doubt as to where I would bring her. In my experience the doctors are very knowledgeable, willing to answer any and all questions, and are not quick to recommend something unless they truly believe it is the right direction to take.FUN  FACT: They have a website portal where you can keep track of your pet's vaccine history and get reminders sent to your email. You can even schedule visits from the site as well. Read Less

actually, im a frequent visitor and they have had signs up of additional parking since before the construction and the rear or side access to ANY place of business is usually employee access only (go figure). and when you called down the hall and no one answered, im sure they were all, you know, working. also, ive had many encounters with the fornt desk staff and you cant find a nicer and more bend-over-backwards group and if they had so little empathy for animals im sure they would have a different job. and please explain to me a time when you have gone to the human emergency room and they saw you ASAP??? if your pet was in such ""distress"" maybe you should have informed them of so and yes of course im sure there is an emergency fee. how would you feel if you had made an appointment and now someone rushes in ahead of you and makes you wait longer than you were supposed to? also, im sure the staff has to drop everything to assist in helping your pet which takes away from the needs of other clients and patients. dont blame this very helpful clinic and staff because you were impatient and did not want to pay the nessasary costs for your pet. thats your short coming not theirs. all of my experiences with winter garden animal hospital are beyond compare with any other place i've been. the best doctors and staff you could ask for. they are the only ones i would trust with my beloved family members. I came to town to take care of a relative's sick pet while they were out of town. This time I decided to bring my sweet Bombay cat along on this short excursion. My experience getting to the Winter Garden Animal Hospital was horrendous, but dealing with front desk rudeness, and lack of empathy was far worse. The stretch of road on SR 50, in front of the Winter Garden Animal Hospital, is still under construction, as of the week of June 16-17, 2010. Parking in the back is available. However, there are no signs letting pet owners or visitors know if you can enter via the side door. On my way to the front of the building, with lightning crackling overhead, I anxiously looked for an entry on the side of the building so I could get away from the looming storm. Finally, I made it to an unlocked side door. Oops, no signs saying to enter or not to enter through this one particular door; however, I quickly turrned the knob, looked down a long hallway, and said, ""Is this an entry door or an employee door? Hellooooo,,,hmm...I paused for a good 30 seconds waiting for an answer, to not avail I finally found my way to the front with my sick pet in tow, who seemed to have had an intestinal blockage, and since I was going over to pick up some meds for my relative's pet, I thought I could have them see my pet mid-afternoon. Bad idea.....the clinic does make sure to let you know, when you are only inches from the front door, and in the coldest of all ways, that you must have an appointment in order to be seen. Why call it Winter Garden Animal Hospital? Never mind the fact that my 18 yeark old cat was in heavy distress, with mouth agape... The next few words were, ""Since youuuu did not have appointment, youuu will have to pay...$$$..because...youuuu...blah blah blah. By this time I was in distress, listening to an unctious young lady, with no empathy for animals. The young clerk seemed quite pleased with herself admonishing a senior citizen in front of an array of clients in the front office. Forget the cat, not once did she inquire about how to make him more comfortable. Not one sign of empathy for a sick 18 year old Bombay cat. Shame on Winter Garden Animal Hospital. You are no hospital, and change your name! Read Less

They gave us many options for how to handle the horrible realization that we were going to lose our fur baby that day. These people love pets and care for them very well. Please choose this animal hospital for all of your pets. Read Less

This is the Vet to take your fur babies! After years of dealing with another vet out of convenience we finally had enough and decided to try someone else. We are so happy that we did! Dr. Fusting greeted our dog with love and compassion. We were able to make an emergency appointment and take our dog (who was in pain) to see the doctor right away, without any wait. The front desk staff are also caring and courteous. We have decided to make this our official Veterinarian office and we will be bringing all three of our chihuahuas here. Dr. Fusting was amazing and she helped our baby girl feel better! Read Less

The whole staff at Winter Garden has done such a great job to ensure that my dog gets back to health after a frustrating tail injury. I had seen a vet closer to me prior to the injury and switched to them upon recommendation. I will never go any where else again if I don't have to. They are half an hour away from me but it is well worth the distance. Every single staff member makes an effort to get to know you are your pet and wants to make you feel comfortable and understanding of everything that goes on. I am so happy that I switched to them and am grateful for all that they have done to help my pup! VERY highly recommended. Read Less

Dr Prather and her staff are amazing! They practice excellent medicine and are very caring. They may be a little more expensive, as one reviewer stated, but you get what you pay for. It's more expensive to have good quality anesthesia monitoring equipment, pain medication for any procedure that might cause discomfort, etc. If you don't really care about your pet, feel free to go to the less expensive places. But if your pet is a part of your family, they deserve to go here. Read Less

We recently moved to FL and had just adopted a new puppy. The puppy fell deathly ill and we found Winter Garden Animal Hospital by their favorable online reviews. Dr Stroud and the staff went WAY above and beyond the call of duty to bring our poor puppy back to health. Honestly, I don't know that anyone else would or could have gone to such lengths to save our little one. Our puppy is in great health thanks to the clinic and they have us as clients for life! I could go on and on, but if you are seeking a new vet clinic... THIS IS THE ONE!!!! Thank you Dr Stroud and everyone at WGAH for saving our little Bella!!! Read Less

Read Less
